Sinead was amazingly self aware ! Yet her view on abortion I cannot support as I believe in the rights of the unborn child. She has an excessively negative view probably because .of her own childhood trauma.
Sinead had 4 children out of wedlock, probably a couple of them were accidental pregnancies. She didn’t choose abortion for herself, but she did support a woman’s right to choose. As a mother herself, Sinead understood that childbirth is inherently dangerous for women, physically, emotionally, psychologically, socially, financially, etc. She believed, like MOST people, that women should have the right to choose their own destiny, and that men, religions, or governments have no right to force them to face death to have a child they don’t want.
It's nice to see such interesting historical media coming out about Sinéad - interviews, concert footage, etc. I always admired Sinéad from afar, the courage of her convictions, etc. I was very saddened by her death, and by the realization that I had unintentionally stopped paying attention to her life and career over the last couple of decades. I look forward to reading her autobiography soon. I share your sentiment about Sinéad. (As a woman, I thank you for your empathy and advocacy towards women.) She narrated the audiobook of her Autobiography (Rememberings) herself. IMO, listening to her read it is a million times better than just reading it yourself, because her voice adds so much life and nuance to it. It's moving and tragic, yet really funny in parts, even so. She was so poetic, earnest, humble and philosophical. She had synesthesia and a 6th sense. The section called "The Piano" is eerie and so cool. She really knew how to tell a story! A heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny, melencholy, abused, musical, mystical, eerie, prophetic, justice-seeking, rebel, ghost, war story. (SO Irish!) She was amazingly beautiful altogether. A fantastic interview. Sinead was way ahead of her time. Im a few years older than her, but I am my peers held similar views to hers, so I understand when she talks about some sections of society trying to impose their unrealistic views upon young women.
When she spoke about a pregnant girl - Ann Rose Lovett was a 15-year-old schoolgirl from County Longford, Ireland who died giving birth beside a grotto in 1984. Her baby son died at the same time and the story of her death played a huge part in a seminal national debate on women giving birth outside marriage.
So many girls gave birth and killed their babies in the early years of the 20th C. such was the shame imposed upon them in "Holy Catholic Ireland."@@Londubh1

Dear Sinead, I won’t ever forget your voice, your talent, your soul, your personality, your courage. Playfully, I used to call you “the woman with iron balls”. You were unique! You weren’t only “Nothing compares to you”, your artistic world is much wider and it will continue to be the soundtrack of my days. Thanks. I love you forever. Mario
I wish I heard this at the time it was broadcast. It could have educated me. I feel terrible that I missed so much good she did and said in her life. I hate how horribly wrong her life went. Was there any way we could have helped her? She was a big influence on irish life. Farewell dear Sinead.
She was quite clear on many levels at a young age, despite all the abuse she went through. That doesn't often happen. The only things she didn't really see ahead of those involvements, were her own worth, her happiness, that her strength is only created in self love, not found in another (thanks only due to her abuse). She was PLENTY good enough. It's a crying shame that she left so soon. May she rest in peace. 🙏💫💖🌱🌎
she should have been given the support and therapy that she needed back then in her 20's before life became too challenging for her. She was so strong and beautifully composed in her 20's. It was a different era. You can see from her later years the toll of non conforming to the music industries pressures and the reaccuring PTSD symptoms had on her . All she needed was respect and proper care and therapy. She was just abandoned and expected to perform. Word of advise out there, do not leave it till your 30s, 40s or 50s to work through and heal childhood trauma. Start early in life and build up a wholesome foundation to go forward in life.
I'm a woman off 44 and live in Ireland, I have been refused counselling via GP referral as my case isn't serious against others (likely because Im PSTD And not secually abused) there are crisis levels of Services currently. Unless you are prepared to pay for your own whichbI have and flew out of this Island to have care on Mainland England. Unfortunately Ireland is still eons behind and recent experience of my GP's is that as an articulate, self sufficient, FT working family, mother of 1, they won't listen. You are literally fighting for things like an estrogen test or thyroid thyroxine level test, fighting is an understatement. Unfortunately Sinead didn't stand much of a chance.
Age has nothing to do with treating your abuse of the past. You have to be psychologically ready first and foremost. Some counsellors I have encountered I have had to protect them as they were unable or had never encountered the depths of abuse in our sessions. No good. Ireland is not ready even in 2023.
@@kathrynagoodwin24Google "low cost counselling and X town" to find out where you can get therapy from either students or pre accredited therapists. There are many fantastic therapists available this way.
"You know what I mean...?" The interviewer really did not have a clue what she meant...:) and they really didn't know. She was advanced in her awareness and perceived beyond the obvious - talking about the mirror and projection and so on in those years.

Oh my word she was beautiful. The world robbed her of that, and we are poorer for it! It seems like treasures like that are always taken too soon, as if we don't deserve them.
Sinead bravely stood for truth and we can best honor her by standing up for her with the truth... The truth is that Sinead O'Connor's obvious suffering was not caused by "mental illness." It was caused by the people who intentionally hurt her and neglected her, not only in her childhood but also throughout her adult life, and it was caused by a severe lack of support in the process of healing from those painful experiences and regaining confidence in her own sanity... The truth is that Sinead was crushed by "mental health" institutions that repeatedly labeled her and prescribed harmful pharmaceuticals, instead of helping her to heal... and by a music industry that tried to force her into what they wanted her to be for them, instead of letting her be her authentic self... and by the media that unfairly judged and degraded her and manipulated people against her... and by the masses of "fans" who swung against her instead of being kind and considerate... and by the many people who neglected her or could not love her the way she needed to be loved and should have been loved...etc. She often pretended that the lashings and cruel judgments were not hurting her, because they cut her too deep. She was more than just her songs or the rebel or that tough wall she was forced to erect around her sensitive heart. She was a human being with human needs. No matter how Sinead actually physically died; the truth is that her life was slowly snuffed out by the heartlessness that exists in humanity's dark closets. Her son's death was just the last blow in a very long chain of painful blows. The truth is that Sinead was too blatantly real and honest and wise and caring for the shallow and evil parts of humanity. And those parts that convinced her that she was crazy and wrong and not OK the way she was deeply hurt her in ways that are immeasurable. Humanity must face its own faults and wrong doings, in order to do better in the future. And Sinead's real life story is one of its many opportunities to do this.
To be heartfelt perfectly honest i totally agree with Sinéad entirely My favourite of relevant is also the picture painting of the image of the immaculate conception ever since from my early childhood, i also see what the painting the immaculate conception what it means to me personally exactly the same. Throughout the interview i absolutely totally agree entirely with Sinéad. This is absolutely so magnificent interview Thank you for sharing i haven't seen it for years since the first time that i had watched it. Sinéad always spoken volumes of heartfelt truth ☘🙏🕯🦋
She was so intelligent, and that’s what scared the authoritarians. She told the truth and they wanted her to shut up. I’m so grateful she didn’t. She spoke the truth, even when people did not want to hear it. But it’s so sad that she only got the love and respect after she died, and not while she lived and deserved it. RIP Sinead 🌹
Very interesting interview. It kind of explains why she might have struggled so much with the fact that some of her children, especially Shane, were initially unwanted/unloved by their fathers (in Shane’s case, it might have been due to the fact that the father was married to someone else and that his wife had recently had a child as well). Based on her responses here, it does make sense. I also agree with her statement that some folks struggle with healthy intimacy because of either abuse or upbringing. I experienced that exact situation.
Sinead is totally right a child doesn't deserve to be traumatized or unloved unfortunately I have been through traumatic events in my childhood I'm now an adult and am still effected by what happened
Sinead O'Connor, Her voice, her big doe eyes, her truth, her activism, her internal and external beauty all are to be commended but it is her spiritual acumen is her real super power. RIP. 💛💜💛
An amazing lady, Sinead O Connor. I'm sorry you had to suffer in your childhood and later on for much of your adult life. But you opened doors for women in Ireland and around the world. You were ahead of your time and you never wavered from the truth. Thank you and Rest In Peace Sinead 🙏 ❤
Wow! What an absolutely rare interview and to hear her talking about her marriage with John and other things.Where waa this interview from please? Cery very rare unseen footage, thanks so much for putting this up! :) xx
I see her as a legend, a strong, riseliant and role model of a human strength she went through everything she was tested in each and every way and she never give up loving God she lived faithfull and went to eternal life with pride and dignity. From my end I know She Got each and every Muslim prayers and duas 🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲🤲
Why is every time someone is intelligent, creative, and speaks the truth is labeled mentally ill honestly I’m pissed even reading the comments here. It’s 2023 we all know almost everyone is traumatized by society family or life in general the only difference is this woman is public !
She was a talented musician, smart, pretty & not afraid to speak her mind. It's hard to connect the two images of her at her earlier age & the time she passed. We will miss her.
How can someone seem so authentic and present and honest and yet simultaneously plagued by such toxic shame from her child abuse? My understanding of toxic shame is that it involves a pervasive dishonestly with the self and others and, so, i find it reconcile these two things.
I love your observation. I think this requires a lot of soul searching + knowing one self fully to be able to live your truth and be authentic after trauma and abuse
This is the 1st time I've seen Sinead O'Connor with so much hair on her head that I almost didn't recognize her. Wow! What a difference it makes to her appearance.

Her baby son died at the same time and the story of her death played a huge part in a seminal national debate on women giving birth outside marriage.
I often go to that grotto in Granard where Anne Lovett died.
So many girls gave birth and killed their babies in the early years of the 20th C. such was the shame imposed upon them in "Holy Catholic Ireland."@@Londubh1
I'm so glad
S mentioned Ann Lovett ..r.i.p ❤
I love this mighty spirit she possesses. So willing to to pull the curtain. Such bravery
Most people will never live by what is right. Maybe that is why she was given that beautiful gamine face. To soften the blow of the harsh reality she need to uncover and show the world - a brilliant beautiful force - lets NOT forget her
She is like Joan Of Arc
This is powerful. Her life force and essence, so ahead of her time and full of wisdom, wit and strong will. She was deeply committed to her own personal integrity and it’s inspiring to watch. Thanks so much for uploading.
No, she is of her time. We were like this in the 80s. It was an excellent generation.
@@jehouse61we were not like this in the 80s. No one talked about abuse at all back then. A lot of what she's talking about was never talked about. Abortion, sex etc was not even spoken about back then. She was ahead of her time
A Mohammad Ali of the world of singing - brave, wise, intelligent, honest, articulate. RIP Sinead.
I don’t like commenting a lot and the only time I will comment is when I see talks that are so honest.
This women was beautiful person and I pray to God Almighty to give her the peace she didn’t had in this world.
If she didn't believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him into her life, she will never have peace.
@kathywade1781 Sinead believed in a personal savior. She was a better christian and muslim than most christians and muslims. You needn’t continuously comment about her eternal salvation.
❤ adore this awesome woman
"There was no way I was gonna be silent abt it like anyone else..." and she got the consequences for that... I wish I was half as daring as her...
Beautiful woman of wisdom 😢
Yes! She was an ocean of wisdom
what an amazing interview. Sinead is so brave, honest and outspoken about herself and her beliefs.
such an intelligent, sensitive and talented person. RIP Sinead ❤🙏🏻😢😢
I love how the interviewer is looking at her while she’s talking it’s like a mother is fascinated by her daughter so beautiful
watching this interview has made me love her even more - I did not think that was possible! 💚
Have you read her book yet? It shows another side of her as well and was fun to see her sense of humor. :)
I could listen to her for hours. She was a beautiful soul.
A beautiful human being.
This comment ❤
she should have been given the support and therapy that she needed back then in her 20's before life became too challenging for her.
@@kathrynagoodwin24 I really recommend Prof Sam Vaknin Ytube re ptsd (etc) amazing insights to be gained at home 4 free!...
All the best 👍🏻😁🍀☮️
@@kathrynagoodwin24Google "low cost counselling and X town" to find out where you can get therapy from either students or pre accredited therapists. There are many fantastic therapists available this way.
"You know what I mean...?" The interviewer really did not have a clue what she meant...:) and they really didn't know. She was advanced in her awareness and perceived beyond the obvious - talking about the mirror and projection and so on in those years.
Marian was a trailblazer too, more quietly, perhaps, but very aware and intelligent.
So mature, no sign of being unstable, never in her interviews.❤ You know what I mean?😊😅❤
Sorry, the interviewer did a great job!@@natalinaconidi6313
Thank you for sharing this beautiful interview. She was wise beyond her years. So missed.
Very well spoken and intelligent at 25 ! 👍....I never was aware of this interview ...gives her an entirely different image than what I previously have seen ...I am impressed 💕
Wow! W-O-W! Thank you so much, Terry, for posting this! Such a highly intelligent, well spoken woman. And the wig...yeah...gorgeous. She didn't want to be gorgeous. She just wanted to be heard. Thanks again.
Great interview with Sinead...she had a intelligent mind of her own.Marion was a lovely lady. Rip to them both!
Thank you kindly for this exceptional video interview with Sinead O'Connor. What a special human we, as a humanity, lost. I am very grateful to you for sharing this with the rest of the world. May she rest in peace and may her soul travel to beautiful places. She will never fade away and be forgotten. 🌟🕯❤❤❤
She was always on a mission to search for the truth to the end .
Rest in peace sweet beautiful soul.
So brutally honest, a beautiful woman with a brilliant mind but a tortured soul. May she rest in peace. 💐
You know , maybe she had a brilliant soul with a tortured mind.
Or is it rather that she had a beautiful mind *and* a beautiful soul, and was tortured by other people, namely a controlling and oppressive society?
What honesty from Sinead and Marion was a true star too.may they both rest in peace
Lovely interview. Beautiful singing voice. Glad she became a mother finally! Rest in peace! 😎 ❤
This sweet precious girl needed trauma recovery and the system failed her. I don’t see mental illness, I see a highly traumatized individual who was trapped in her trauma responses. What a bight, beautiful, creative free spirit. I am honored to sing her masterpieces of glorious music. Thank you, Sinead. You are forever in my heart. ❤
I love the way she says beautiful. If you're heard her book Rememberings, every time she says that word she drew it up and almost sang it, "beeeauuuuuuutiful"❣️
Grand Memorable Interview Magnificent Throughout With Love And Happiness With Grand Interests.
Marian Finucane Respectfully Let Sinéad Speak Without Any Interruptions And Listened.
Entirely Very Grand Interview.
Thank You For Sharing
☘🙏🕯🦋💖
Sinéad is so talented and intelligent beyond belief I'm going to miss her so much RIP girl fly high 😢💚🙏
Beautiful interview. Marion so caring in her questions with dear Sinéad. 🙏⭐
Oh my word she was beautiful. The world robbed her of that, and we are poorer for it! It seems like treasures like that are always taken too soon, as if we don't deserve them.
it's got nothing to do with us, and the world never robbed her of her beauty
She is just great. Im so humbled by her bravery and empathy. Such wisdom
She spoke the truth, always. She should’ve been celebrated and revered instead of ridiculed and dismissed.
She looks spectacular. One of the most beautiful women of all time
To be heartfelt perfectly honest i totally agree with Sinéad entirely
My favourite of relevant is also the picture painting of the image of the immaculate conception ever since from my early childhood, i also see what the painting the immaculate conception what it means to me personally exactly the same.
Throughout the interview i absolutely totally agree entirely with Sinéad.
This is absolutely so magnificent interview
Thank you for sharing i haven't seen it for years since the first time that i had watched it.
Sinéad always spoken volumes of heartfelt truth ☘🙏🕯🦋
I love that she just flopped that wig on her head without bothering to make it look like her natural hair. 🤣👍
Her voice is so relaxing
Sinead was so raw and real, beautiful without even trying, God given talent not squandered but used as she saw fit.
Rip Sinead.
Such a joy listening to Sinead O'Connor ❤ Thank you, Dearest Sinead ❤
A Truly Honest and very talented Sinead ..R.I.P. THANK YOU .
She's too beautiful rip
She sounds like a very credible and thoughtful human being.
Sinead O'Connor, Her voice, her big doe eyes, her truth, her activism, her internal and external beauty all are to be commended but it is her spiritual acumen is her real super power. RIP. 💛💜💛
I wish I had been given the pleasure of meeting Sinéad.😍 She's been one of my favourite artists since childhood🥺💖
she is strikingly honest-paving the road-here. 🌻
This is my first time seeing this interview. Both ladies gone RIP. . ❤❤

A gifted soul having left a huge legacy xxx
Dang she’s gorgeous here wow what a rarity
She always felt ugly and shed nearly all signs of femininity and attractiveness.
Rest in peace. Beautiful lady. You were amazing in so many ways.
She was a talented musician, smart, pretty & not afraid to speak her mind. It's hard to connect the two images of her at her earlier age & the time she passed. We will miss her.
Rennasaince woman, fly high sweetsongbird. You are so deeply loved ❤
She was so ahead of her time.... and she was called mad...
Brave Sinead, for being honest and striving to be her authentic self.
A healing presence
This is the 1st time I've seen Sinead O'Connor with so much hair on her head that I almost didn't recognize her. Wow! What a difference it makes to her appearance.
Thank you. Very nice to have shared this interview with us… Never had seen it before…
Thanks for uploading! Good that you found this!
A true soul i so relate to her if she only knew that she was a voice for so many women
If there has ever been a Saintly woman--and there have been many--Sinéad is most certainly among them.
Always speaking with an open heart- much love💔🌸🙏
god she was beautiful...thanks for your light sinead.,,didnt know much about her until nothing compares 2 u
Rest In Peace my dear Sinead, the painful suffering of this life has come to an end for you. I am sure you are in a much better place.❤
