I was in HS-11 from 82 to 85 as a AMS when we were still at NAS Jacksonville. So many memories. We were assigned to CV66 USS America and were always at sea it seemed. Did 3 work ups and two cruises to include a Northern Wedding 1983 when we went to England. We hit a storm in the North Atlantic that tossed the carrier around like a toy boat. The sound of the waves hitting the Closed elevator doors of the ship sounded like hammers. I was on the engine cowling of one of our SH-3s and fell off due to the rolling of the ship. Man that sucked 😛. Dragonslayer for life!

I was attached to HS-11 during the mid 80's and we were flying SH-3's. Ya'll come a long way from the days of being aboard the USS America.

I was with HS-11 from 93-97 Did two deployments on the America which included the Americas last deployment Awesome squadron and great air wing. Loved NAS Jax while I was there. Good times.

Does anyone know what kind of machine gun that is? The MG that the door gunner is using. It looks like an M2 but it fires a lot faster. Maybe an M3M?

What was the 2nd weapon shown firing? The first was a M2 variant, the third a rocket pod.

Its the US Navy not the Air Force, you can tell by the ranks in the description the Air Force don't have Petty Officers and Lieutenant Commanders. If it was the Air Force it would be a Staff Sergeant and a Major in the helicopter.
