    Get the Velit heater here: nomadicsupply.com/velit-4000p-12v-14000-btu-camper-van-gas-air-heater/aff/124/
    What a time to be a vanlifer. Velit came in hot with this heater. I installed a Webasto heater in my last campervan and not only was that gasoline heater TWICE the price, but it didn't have nearly as many features...
    My Webasto didn't have a carbon monoxide alarm, a bluetooth thermostat app, or the ability to run at higher elevations (unless you jerry rigged it, but that also meant it worked less efficiently. The Velit automatically detects your elevation and adjusts fuel runs accordingly.)
    The heater installation itself was a straightforward process. Installing any gasoline heater on the Ford Transit van is where it gets a little tricky. I didn't realize how lucky I was with the accessibility in my old Promaster van.
    Anyways, combining installation information from several other videos, my goal was to make a video that covered it all for anyone installing a gasoline heater in their Ford Transit van. I hope this helps. Let me know what you think!

    Heck of an install job here, Darian! Velit seems to be on top of their game with this heater. I appreciate the explanations and tid bits of advice you offered throughout the video as to why you would or wouldn't do certain things. Very educational stuff, and appreciate you sharing!

    Wow! THE BEST VELIT video with complete explanations. The only regret I have is that I purchased mine early when they had no Bluetooth. I am thinking about purchasing the new one now. What a waste of money for me.

      Ah that’s the best compliment, thank you! 🙌🏼
      Oh man that does suck.. even without the Bluetooth app, it’s still well worth it over Webasto, but yeah the Bluetooth app alone is a gamechanger. Maybe you can reach out to them and ask for a discount for a new unit? I would give it a shot!

    Finally a cheap version that actually work well with a lot of features. Well done! It's not a easy job, especially messing around with the van tank.

      Right, they’re exactly what the community’s been needing. Thanks! Definitely a hard job on the Transit, I was stressin’ for a second trying to get the sending unit back in. 😂

    The explanation and video install I've been waiting for! I've been looking at this brand over the past year and they've been making a lot of improvements. Looks like they've landed on a great model. Luckily I have a Promaster so tapping into the gas tank will be a little easier.
    Thanks again Darian.

      @darian.explores  Місяць тому +2

      That's totally understandable! Some things are arguably worth just having a professional do it. Running the fuel line in the Ford Transit is one of those things. Others are electrical (to save time with the learning curve) and installing the large windows. You can always check Task Rabbit too, to save money!

    I love the idea of this heater and compared to diesel heaters on amazon it seems very high quality! Do you know of any video of UA-cam where they hook this heater up to a gas tank that you keep in the van? I think if I went with this heater that is what I would want to do because I am just too intimidated to mess around with the vans gas tank! Also you did an AMAZING job with this install, very impressive

    • @darian.explores
      @darian.explores  Місяць тому

      I understand that, but it’s really not difficult to do in the Promaster. I did it in my last van (Promaster). The fuel access point is under the floorboard cover inside the van between the driver and passenger seats. No real messing with the tank itself.
      Thank you so much!! I tried to keep it easily digestible, while covering everything.

      @Gary-ee3kq yes it is my friend. I've been living the Viking Vanlife for four years now. I've survived the Oregon -19 below winter and the Texas 127 summers. I enjoy watching others do their vanbuilds and witness their creativity. I'm still in the process of insulation and flooring. All in the while doing mechanical and electrical repairs.

      @@Gary-ee3kq I don't have that button option. My Van is a 1990 Ford Econoline 150. I have a propane heater buddy that keeps me warm. The winter season is easy to live through. It's the hot Texas Summers that give me the challenge. My van is all metal and any extreme weather becomes amplified due to the metal.

    Thx for your detailed vid, very helpful. I’m about to buy a velit for my toy hauler trailer, which already has a gasoline tank. It would be awesome if you made a video for a trailer install, but instead, what would be the difference in the install? Can I mount the heater under the trailer and direct the heated air to the inside?

    good Install video! Have you had any check engine light issues? A vapor leak at the fiting on the tank will get you a evap system code. Have you seen the water heaters they make that tie into the vehicle heater hose yet? That also seems like a good way to go as you can use the existing van heater and itll keep the engine somewhat warm as well. Thanks for the vid!

      Thanks for letting me know! I was a little worried if I had gotten it sealed back up all the way, but no I haven't had issues or a check engine light come on. I have seen those water heaters! I'll have to look more into them and see what the install looks like. Thanks for watching!

      @@darian.exploresThats awesome you havent had a check engine light - that means its holding vacuum and you dont have a leak. Good job there! I was thinking the water heater one would be a dream as you could use it for heat as designed but also pass it through a liquid to liquid heat exchanger and heat water for bathing etc with it.

    Hi Darian, does it turn off when it reaches the temperature? Or just slow down? Also do you know how much power is drawn when it turns on? My Chinese diesel heater use to pull over 100W to heat up the element and after it would lower to 20W just pushing the fan…

    • @darian.explores
      @darian.explores  10 днів тому

      When it's in thermostat mode, sometimes it slows down, sometimes it turns off once the set temperature is reached and kicks back on when the temp drops again. Starting draw is up to 120w, operating ranges 20-40w at 12 volts.

    • @darian.explores
      @darian.explores  Місяць тому

      It’s extremely efficient. It heats up the van just as well as my Webasto did and uses veryyy little fuel (.05 gal/hr).
      They have both, but I installed the gas so I could use my own van’s fuel tank instead of installing a second fuel tank for diesel.

    Very good video but I got to tell you something beautiful that is not a gasoline heater that is a diesel heater so you need to watch what you're doing because if you hook gas up to that it'll blow you Sky High so make sure you try to check and make sure that's diesel
