  • You may wondering about this sweet red bean paste, what is it, you might taste it often in Asian dessert, like moon cake, steamed buns, dimsum. You can easily buy this sweet red bean paste from Asian Market, but if you want to make it yourself, trying to buy Adzuki red beans to make it, it definitely will come out the best result, but if you can't find it ,you can buy regular red beans and red kidney beans instead.
    In this video, I used red beans, red kidney beans and red adzuki beans made bean paste, which one is the best? What's the difference? You can find it out from this video.
    Ingredients:
    1 cup red adzuki beans
    2 cups water soak overnight
    2 cups water for boiling
    fry the bean paste:
    3 tbsp vegetable oil
    (use non-sticky pan)
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 cup brown sugar
    红豆沙叫红豆沙,但是普遍意义上我们做豆沙时选择的都是赤豆赤小豆,赤豆有着它特有的芳香,是其他红豆无法取代的, 你叫它红豆沙也没错,赤豆也是属于红豆的一种,但是在美国红豆和赤豆叫法是不同的,要是去超市买赤豆做红豆沙不要买错了,要买adzuki beans, 不是red beans,今天我把这三款红豆都做了豆沙来进行比较,红豆做的红豆沙,红腰豆做的红腰豆沙,赤豆做的赤豆沙,它们吃起来都还好吗?大家从视频中找答案吧
    材料:
    一杯红豆
    2杯水浸泡过夜
    2杯水煮熟
    炒豆沙用不粘锅
    3汤匙无味蔬菜油
    1/4茶匙盐
    1杯红糖

    I wish you knew how much this video helped me.
    I am craving some dumpling or any kind of Asian dessert with red bean paste but I am no where close to an Asian market and am relying on the local food bank at the moment.
    They have given me a ton of red kidney beans and small red beans and I didn’t know how to use them all up but now not only can I use them, I can have something similar to my favorite deserts! Thank you!🙏

    I wonder if cooking the red beans with some flower tea, like chrysanthemum might reproduce the floral taste?

      I never tried that, but sounds like a good idea, I like to add osmanthus in the bean paste, similar to your idea

    Adzuki beans are hard to get in my area and unfortunately too expensive online. I've been meaning to make steamed buns with anko and was wondering if I could substitute adzuki beans with "regular" red beans. I couldn't seem to find an answer to my problem until just now.

    Thankyou for maing this video. This is exactly what i was searching for :whether i canmake red bean buns with regular kidney beans. I live in Pakistan and im not sure if adzuki beans are available here or what their cost is. Also, i really enjoyed listening to you and the pace of the video!

    Try guandul bean paste and compare it please 😊 is not red, but is a bean.
