    Is it just me or does Bjorn fall in love every 10 minutes? His character has bored me to death ever since Ragnar died. He's either pissed off all the time or smug, and abandons women (AND children) whenever he wishes. Remember how his daughter with his 1st wife drowned when she was little? He never even asked about her! Walked away from Torvi like she was nothing, too. Fell in love and married the Sami chick after knowing her 10 minutes and now it looks like he's all into the shield maiden who cut his face! Ragnar was't like that. He regretted destroying his marriage to Lagertha and the other sons appear to have at least some scruples and/or emotional connection to their relationships. Bjorn's character has no real substance, no real moral center to him other than to rant about "the Gods" from time to time. Snore.

    • @runareinert325
      @runareinert325 5 років тому +3

      yes totally agree that there are too many romances for Bjorn. I can't believe he left Torvi. But he still has a moral center. He promised to provide for Torvi and their children. Also he had a really impressive moral in his talk to Rollo about what really mattered in who he sees as his father. And now being upset, well he does not want to abandon his viking ways.
      Can certainly do without another romance for Bjorn at this point.
      Bjorn never had much charm or charisma. He is kinda strange and aloof. He gains respect saying rather too little then too much.

      Let's face it, Bjorn is the sluttiest character on the show. He banged his OWN MOTHER'S GIRLFRIEND for goodness sake. And yeah, married that Sami girl and claimed he was in love with her when I'm pretty sure they hadn't even talked at that point. And banged Alfred's betrothed. Like seriously dude, stop making bedroom eyes at every woman you're in a room with for more than ten minutes.

    As put pretty much on point by a reviewer, Heahmund was like a Top Free Agent that didn't really work well with the team for Vikings. Or, I guess on my take, his arch was like a season of American Horror Story. Great beginning with being Ivar's main opponent, then it got interesting when he was captured by Ivar, but got weird with his relations with Lagertha after being captured by her, and ended in hardly any actual religious conflict when he had a nightmare (Athelstan had a vision before converting back) and died in the same episode (Priests/Monks got bad luck on this show). The love storyline dragged both Lagertha and Heahmund down a few pegs from what they were on the show, and the success they should've had by this point of the show suffered because of it.

    • @KingMckay

    Also, because of how vague the Seer's visions are when he describes them to people, like Ragnar said before his death, Magnus may be the one who kills Lagertha, because he keeps proclaiming himself as a son of Ragnar. Just like how the Seer said Lagertha would never have a child, she still got pregnant. So it could be that the Seer saw Magnus, because he won't stop calling himself a Son of Ragnar.

    • @sarahgray430

      Remember what the yarl said 'we are all sons of Ragnar'. The Seer's visions were sometimes literal and sometimes metaphorical. If someone claims they are a son of Ragnar i.e a Viking then they are. I think Lagetha will be killed by Magnus.

    • @lorraineconnor5303
      @lorraineconnor5303 5 років тому

      The creator of the show tries to be historically accurate,as much as it is possible, when it comes to pivotal events like Ragnar dying in a pit of snakes. I think he may do the same with Lagertha who is believed to have lived into old age and died of natural causes. Who knows? It could be that Bjorn (son of Ragnar and HER son) puts Lagertha out of her misery once she becomes too feeble to live the way she wished to live. In that way both history and the Seer's prophecy would be fulfilled.

    Bjorn just wants to overthrow Ivar, he doesn't want to be king, my guess is that he'll take Kattegat and offer it to Harald who will then finally be king of all Norway, and he'll just go back to the mediteranian with his new wife or will be looking for Largertha if she's still missing. Ivar will flee to Ireland, Ubbe will be a lord in England. And Hvitserk.........Hvitserk is lost as shit.

      Wednesday's Child LOL, it always amazes me where people come up with this crap and I wonder if we even watch the same show. Ragnar did care when Porun was injured in battle he freaked out at Bjorn over it because he allowed her to fight when she was pregnant. Bjorn didn’t want anything to do with Siggy. She drown because Auslug was being a drunk and wasn’t caring about anything but pining away for Harbard. In the saga (which the follows mostly with added drama) Bjorn is a son of Ragnar. And, Ragnar didn’t have any sons named Magnus. In the saga there is no mention of anyone named Magnus. His mother was sleeping with Echbert around the same time Ragnar was there. Ragnar told everyone Magnus isn’t his son.. when Ragnar went to the seer and asked about his sons the seer said “one will marry the daughter of a king and sail the sea that has no tied.” He said “what about Bjorn? Will I ever see him again.” And the seer said “that is of whom I speak.” Bjorn isn’t Rollo’s son. That’s some stupid fan prediction they put in there cuz people like you who watch the show and have no idea what’s going on.

    Think about it logically... The Ivar v. Alfred confrontation is the ultimate end of all this. Two great minds of wildly different people going to war. But if Ivar makes it to England, obviously he either (A) defeats Bjorn (B) leaves Norway before Bjorn arrives. Judging by the previews I find B unlikely. The Bjorn v. Ivar feud is also really anticipated, and I suspect the show will use it to show how Bjorn’s tendencies of diving headfirst into conflicts will make him easily trapped and deceived by a tactician like Ivar.

    What ever happens will be the product of Hirsts rather fevered imagination. I believe this battle is a composite battle of Marton which killed both the bishop and a month later king Aethelred the 1st from his injuries against Halfdan Whiteshirt and the battle of Edington which under King Alfred the Saxons won against Guthrum the Dane. Guthrum is impressed with the christian god and converts with Alfred as his godfather and becomes Aethalstan king of East Anglia.

    I like Bjorn and Lagertha.
    Lagertha has done much in her life and deserves a more honorable ending then torture.
    I hope she's not a captive of King Harold and "he" dies in season 5.
    I also hope that Bjorn takes back Kattagat and drives Ivar out...Ivar deserves to die, but it appears he'll be back in season 6.

      King Harald will live until the end of the show if Hirst follows history with him. He really did end up uniting the entirety of Norway. Ivar lived on to late age, and only Alfred in his prime was able to defeat him and bargain with him. And we don’t exacly know his ending for sure, so there can be speculation, but he’s still a teenager, he definitely has a lot more to give.

      @alexman378 5 років тому +3

      @@joshuajomy8921 No he actually did lose to Alfred. Well, in a way at least. Alfred in the show is basically being built up to be Ivar's arch nemesis, he's the only one who could match him in terms of strategy.
      Alfred is also the Vikings' demise in a sense, he pretty much ended the Viking Age. Ivar and the Vikings did beat the Saxons several times, and it got to a point where Wessex was the only English kingdom which wasn't taken over by the Vikings, thanks to Alfred. That's why there is another show named "The Last Kingdom" which is that storyline, from the Saxon's point of view, Wessex is that last kingdom surviving. It's much worse than Vikings in every way as far as quality goes though, I wouldn't recomend it.
      Anyway, Ivar wasn't exactly defeated in the traditional way by Alfred and Aethelred, he struck a peace treaty once he found out his troops were largely outnumbered and there was no other way out of it, and went back to York. He was smart enough to know when he shouldn't fight. I think he's not there yet in the show, because although extremely intelligent, he's also hot headed, quick tempered and immature, while that's a mature and well thought out decision someone would make to avoid casualties.

      Get rid of these fake female warrior characters because its all bullshit lies , no females fought alongside men in any battle from any European nation unless they were bodyguards of the viking queen's ( but still useless against men) or a Spartan women who really could fight in battles to defend their cities and homes whilst the men were fighting far away but this bullshit from MSM and anything else that is run by leftist idiots and moaning feminist is totally false . Schools are teaching fake history to fit the leftist agenda which should be against the law . You idiot's need to grow up and stop taking this so seriously as though its fact ( many do believe this made up history and fake bullshit to be fact but not all do ) . Some parts of Vikings are true but definitely not the female warrior part ( that's just feminist etc sticking their bullshit views on TV etc to convince the idiots its all true ) , only a desperate idiot would believe that part to be fact which is of course people on the Left ( mainly ) .

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has plenty of other acting projects on the go and more than likely only wanted to do the show for a short period of time, considering he's stated he's not interested in doing long term television series' anymore. And to that end, the relationship between Heahmund and Lagertha wasn't lacking in chemistry in the least.

Remember the scene In earlier seasons when floki visited seer, at the end seer licked his hand, and not the other way around. And floki is already having visions, that dead pregnant girl who showed him where she got killed

    I think it goes one of two ways. Bjorn/Ubbe will go to York to treat with Harald and either:
    A) Bjorn will make a deal with Harald where Harald keeps Kattegat after it is retaken and Bjorn goes off to explore again.
    or
    B) Remember in the previews for this season those scenes of Ubbe fighting in a pit surrounded by chanting warriors? I think that's Ubbe fighting Harald at York. Ubbe/Bjorn will try to convince Harald to return to Kattegat. Harald will refuse, so Ubbe will challenge Harald to a duel which is a thematic mirror of Ragnar's past. Ubbe will defeat Harald but will spare his life, probably stating something about how his new Christian God being a God of mercy. Ubbe will then offer a chance to any vikings who wish to stay in the new lands King Alfred is going to give them and become peaceful (Christian) farming people. Any Vikings who don't wish to follow Ubbe can return to Kattegat with Bjorn.

      @Classic Athelred and heahmund helped command as alfred said in the previous ep. The army was 99% Saxon... the fight was to save Wessex which is Alfreds kingdom. Not Ragnars kids kingdom. Therefore alfreds army (of which Ragnars sons are apart) beat Harold👍....a win for wessex. The vikings will get land alfred will grant them.

    Lagertha, and other's, didn't have any choice about young to England with King Alfred, they were fleeing Ivar, so life and death situation.

    Lagertha goes mad. She will be under kings Harald custody. He enjoys seeing her madness. He keeps her near Ragnars grave. Bjorn kills Lagertha to spear her more suffering and safe her image as queen and shieldsmaiden (seers is right after all). Bjorn takes over Harald's troops in East Anglia, while Harald escapes and joins black Danes. How about that?

    The show cannot have Harald die, as they follow the broad brush strokes of history. What we know from history is that Harald Finehair was the first King of all Norway. That tells us that his character in the show is destined to return (probably to Kattegat initially) and his story will be the story of uniting Norway under one kingdom, at the expense of Ivar. Ivar will return to what will in the future become England (but is still 100 years away in the show's timeline - even Alfred the Great was not able to unite the kingdoms as "England" in his lifetime) but not defeat Alfred, as we also know Alfred's story from history.

    I do not believe that Alfred will kill Aethelred because Aethelred saved his life in battle. He will however punish his brother and sister-in-law in some way to keep them from ever trying to oppose him again. Hvitserk might serve Alfreda’s in exchange for the land. But I wonder, will Alfred constantly hold it over Hvitserk’s head to get as much as he can out of him??

    • @KingMckay
      @KingMckay  5 років тому

      Yeah that's what I'm looking forward to the most. I hope he can find a way for his brother to redeem himself rather than just executing him in anger. Alethelred did as you said just save his life in battle and he did back down on the assassination attempt!
