Ah yes, the tier 1 queen, the perfect counter to the tier 3 protoss unit. Just like the tier 1 marines. Such a wonderfully balanced game. Queens, banes, lings and corruptors vs Archons, High Templar w/ Storm, Carriers, Stalkers and Zealots. Truly a well balanced game.
Dark is absolutely disgusting, feral and primal. He is the swarm.

Jesus Christ. The last several minutes of the final game, Dark had like 80% of his army supply just waiting at home while he toyed around with the Golden Armada using just two hit squads of zerglings...and it was WORKING. Dark is a fucking mad lad.
Ya, that was crazy... Classic's army just seemed way too slow to respond to those hit squads. It's just not agile enough.. When Classic's Armada finally reaches one hit squad, they just burrow in the corner and Classic's force just standing there cleaning up the burrowed lings while another hit squad hits another base.
At that point it seemed like Classic just felt defeated. He spent so much time chasing zerglings with no counterattack, no pressure, not even really scouting Dark. Honestly felt like he was waiting to be killed
Dark really sent a whole cheerleader squad for a couple of herolisks
in G1, i tought that early carriers were the only carriers that could be efficient against Dark. Any later and they get mind controlled / hooked to death as we have seen so many times. But even that is not enough !
The early carrier strat seems strong for the ladder. But Dark shrugged it off ! i can't remember the last time i saw a pro game finished by complete destruction of buildings.

If Dark, Hero, Cure, and Classic were archetypical anime characters, Hero is the protagonist who's sly, charismatic, always fighting the good fight. Dark is the villain/anti-hero, not afraid of underhanded tactics and dirty tricks; he is foreign to honor, and deaf to pleas for mercy. queens unironically might be a bigger bandaid unit for zerg than mothership cores were for protoss
A base trade against zerg, that has many bases spread all around the map, with +3 adrenal zergling using such slow protoss army is very bad choice. Staying in game to get eliminated completly is a gentleman move

veryone acts surprised, but we all know queen is a busted 150mineral unit, base armor , no extra damage from units since its not heavy or light, BUSTED heal ammount, big HP pool, doesnt even use larva to be made, how about we tune down the queen and buff other zerg units

I havent played SC2 in years but im sitting here, a bronze level player, wondering "huh why isnt anyone in pro games using microbial cloud, doesnt that block ranged damage or something? wasnt it in SC1 too?". AND FINALLY 1 single guy uses it, in all of the pro games i've ever seen.
I think Dark may be my new favorite zerg. I think he IS a zerg irl, because he sure thinks like one, with the nydus / creep / spore / spine push.

I love Dark. But tbh, I think zerg right now is weak in the meta vs Terran, which is why Terran is dominating zerg now is the GSL finals Korea, and zerg is also widely dominated by every race statistically, under Master level (I believe)

Yes, it is not: it's a staging area that treatens 2 bases. So while trying to clear it by storming through a very narrow choke wasn't the best call, removing that foothold before moving across the map imo was a viable decision. I bet it's not beyond dark to spread scouting lings through the map the moment that he stops seeing the main protoss army and just drop the hammer the moment he spots the push half of the map away from his bases.

Game 1 really showcasing why carriers are really not that good. They get absolutely rolled by corruptors on similar cost/supply, even when ahead on upgrades. After the interceptor priority fix so Carriers aren't heavily taxing the Zerg player's micro, they never seem to look particularly impressive in these pvz games between top players.
Game 3 showing that microbial shroud is actually good (especially vs carriers because its damage reduction is before armor; Interceptors at +3 end up doing 1 damage per hit to queens/hydras with +3 carapace)

I'm probably a few patches late since this was uploaded, but what I'm about to refer to was at least one full SC2 iteration ago... And I don't think Protoss was nerfed in the last few patches, anyway.

I couldn't help but think of GGG's no death run challenge of SC2's campaign: "I tried to save as many zealots as i could, but Karas STORMS HIS OWN UNITS!" Classic really channeled his inner Karas that game.

I love this .. I remember when EVERY good player was Korean and Protoss at the same time (ok sometimes Terran - Maru). And I always had heart for foreign Zergs like Scarlett. This month I get back to watch everything and zerg players dominated the scene .. we have Serral, Dark, Reynor, Scarlett, what a lovely time for zerg fans 😅
I think that the zerg is hardest to pull off right to manage properly so it's basically harder/more training for zerg players 😅 .. that shows on Reynor playing Toss so good
Well, if you have a fleet of carriers in the earliest timing as possible, but you don’t wall off well and you are not taking advantage of the fleet … then yeah. Especially, you have a bank more than enough to the wall off and you still don’t wall off. Honestly, all you have are air units. The wall won’t block off your units, and a probe doesn’t need to stay there to construct the wall like SUV or drone. The fleet just stayed idle for so long waiting for the Zerg to build the counter. Also bad micro, storming your own units, didn’t focus on taking out Zerg’s anti-air first…

Honestly, Dark just played this fairly well. whenever classic tried to stop his creep spread he just counterattacked with the zerg, and classic made the mistake to not play decisively.

Wow! The games are insane. In game 2 he went up the ramp to protect the 3rd. He could of protected 3rd another way but he had like no tec, so up the ramp he goes, he should of abadon 3rd and made a 4th sowere else and try to rebuild the tec tree. On third game he should of made 2 cyber or 3 in different places. Think of it as rushing the att,armor. and shield.
I reckon the disrespect is not leaving the game when you got zero probes and not enough money to rebuild. Maybe in lower leagues like mine you might be able to feign something but against Dark ? Just wasting time in that situation its GG.

No, they're statistically the best race even still. They have the most wins in pro matches and the most consistent in ladder as well with Terran being close but a bit behind and Zerg being in dead last.
@@chaotikkiller1617 In the hands of peasants, Protoss is probably the strongest by a good amount. But in the hands of the masters, it's the other way around. I only watch pro games, so I think that's unfortunate, but that's how the races are designed.
@@tankbuggeru You're wrong, even in pro and high level games Protoss is consistently top tier in all categories except literally the top like 10 players, they only had 1 win in premier matches vs 3 for Terran and Zerg but had 6 wins in Majors and 143 in Minors vs 3/4 and 100/87 for Terran and Zerg respectively. In Ladder as well, there are like 260 Protoss above 5k MMR, 220 Terran and like 160 Zerg.

@@tankbuggeru So like I said, the only time it changes off protoss being the top is literally the top 10 players and that's only really because Maru, Dark, GuMiho, Cure, and Solar are really really strong players at Terran and Zerg. Overall pro matches protoss still wins in everything but majors.

@@GameFuMaster as a zerg player you should have the better economy due to how fast you can spread creep all over the place. destroy creep and prevent expansion and benefits to control more of the map. honestly queens were classics bane here and if he had controlled the spread of the creep in game one, he might have been able to prevent such critical masses of queens from being too effective barring a nydus push. into 3rd or main
and having the superior economy means drones are more replaceable in the long run anyhow. unlike P or T players, you can spawn several drones at once rather than 1 by 1 per base.
