I have a problem when trying this type of drift CToretto .If using basic cars from game like AE86 or BMW E30 drift its impossible to keep them so much in controlled line .What is it needed to do such drift ? maybe special mods of cars or :)?
What car was in the video?

It's crazy how we forget the basic principles of drifting, once we learn we don't even think about it, everything syncs in perfectly heheheheh
True
Yeah what I did Was to build muscle memory like what to do in what situations like if I entry too early I will hold handbrake e.c.t
Muscle “ memory “ is a crazy thing , you do the same thing when you drive a car normally on the road .
mans got a brain in his muscle
how it was for skateboarding for me haha
Throttle
Practice #1: smooth taps/squeeze on the throttle 0:56
Practice #2: maintain throttle during drift 1:53 -> less for transition, more to hold drift (try not to fully lift unless transition)
- maintain at least 20% throttle during drift 2:25
- throttle tap to manage power 2:43
- avoid flooring (up to 60% throttle is all you need) 2:57
Steering
- Steering relies on your throttle control
- We want to let the wheel to spin as freely as possible -> use the car's momentum instead
- We catch and help the car counter steer while this happens 4:20
- Tip: use 60% feedback first
- Time your counter steer. Holding the turn-in for even a split second longer will cause a spin 6:30
- Feel the cars weight shift on the wheel. Catch it, then let it freely spin to counter steer 7:06
Gearing
- Smashing in a lower gear kills the car and the length of the drift 8:30
- Always be in highest possible gear
- You want your car to sound in lower pitch 9:10
- Shift down once you feel the loss of power (+ car straightening up) 9:24
- Don't necessarily need to GAIN speed all the time. Hold your speed to match the track
U a goat
I dont have issues with initiating and maintaining a drift but right towards the end the car goes into an oversteer and flicks the direction the wheels are pointing. Is there something Im doing wrong

this video is so calming to me, i know its weird but like the car noises to how easily he controls the car and even the subtitles just create an atmosphere of calm, love this video.
This is THE tutorial! It covers all of the errors that a beginner would most likely face, and how to beat them. It has easy to read captions and slo-mo when needed, overall 10/10 tutorial!

This training will actually translate over to real drifting in an actual car. The transition technique is what i had most trouble with long left drifts to tight right hand transitions. Good stuff.
This is the most detailed and best explained tutorial for drifting I've seen so far. Thanks
That part where you showed why we spin out was spot on, exactly what I was looking for, great video, thanks ❤️
Great tutorial! Loved how you broke it up into different sections and taught the throotle, steering etc. one by one. Makes it alot easier than alot of these other tutorials where they try to explain everything at once. Clean drifting, you make it looks so easy!

This is honestly gold. Such a precious video I do not want to loose in between the millions of UA-cam videos. Thank you for making it!
been looking for a good "tuto" on how to drift since i started playing a week ago, thank you a lot, even if it's a year old its still fresh and up to date the tips and tricks are just perfect, with a couple of minutes practicing each techniques i can already say that i handle my car more efficiently compared to before THNX
I've been seeing a lot of " I need tons of mods to drift" comments for this game, are you using the game stock, or are you using mods too, if not what car did you get drifting working in ?
hi just a random question if u still play have u learnt to properly drift?
@@eldragon00 pretty sure u can drift stock but i would recommend content manager bcuz its so easy to mod it
@@n0_thnx622 i stoped but i learned how to drift without controller mods and it was actually fun, nothing close to using a wheel but considering the shity range of motion of a controller i'd say that i've managed to get decent
for the people that use a g29 or g920 as I do. the FFB and self-aligning isn't that great with that wheel. So a lot of the time when you need to counter-steer. you have to give it a pull on your wheel to get your wheel to spin and align properly. otherwise, it's too slow and won't react properly and you'll spin.
Thanks for your tip man, I've yet to try a logitech wheel, but like you say an extra hand to help it spin should still work 👍
to add to this comment it’s not a bad starting wheel if you’ve never done sim before, good quality for the price but that’s to me the only downside to the g29/g920
@@potatolime8351 yes the G920 is a great starter wheel for the buck. and for its price. it's expected to not be perfect. otherwise, why would you buy a more expensive wheel. so for anyone who reads this. don't worry that a G920 or G29 aren't good wheels. they are amazing. but they have some little flaws that you'll only notice when you're doing something else than normal racing.
you should use maximum FFB as he mentioned in the video BUT its sometimes not the steering wheels fault but the car itself... The car youre probably using is a car mod which sometimes have to low FFB. Lets say you use a 180SX and it has to low FFB, you should switch to other 180SX's that exist but make sure to use good quality mods because sometimes yeah they do look good but then the turbo sometimes suck or the torque is trash to low power and sometimes the interior totally garbage. You can also adjust your FFB in the menu ingame by moving your mouse to your right and go in FFB settings. You should switch cars until you find the perfect car that suits you.
This down here is just tips you can use if you want some good quality cars. This is all from my experience and all my opinion.
When i download car mods i would FIRST check out its interior quality and exterior quality because having a car that you can see through a part of a door is never nice and just gives a "bootleg mod vibe" After youve done that you should Check for what you can modify example ABS and traction control. If there is traction control then there might be a chance its just a kunos Supra drift car but with a different body on it and weird handling as well as you should check if you can change gear ratio which could be nice to change if you dont think the standard gear ratio are tooo long or tooo short. If you can also change your turbo.
@@mr_mustache5594 agreed. do you have any belt driven wheel suggestions, i’m still on a g29 and am looking at upgrading later this year to one

This is the best video out there hands down. Day 3, I've watched probably 4 hours and practiced another 8. This is what got me over the hill. I was just turning in too much and not letting the wheel/cars momentum take control.
Subscribed. This is by far the best drifting tutorial out there. It actually explains why you do what you do in drifting. Instead of people just telling you "aT tHiS pOiNt yOu pReSs tHe hAnDbReAk" this guy explains to you how, why, where and when to do it.
I don't even have asetto corsa or a sim rig but this really helped a ton. I'm trying to drift in a game where it's almost impossible to drift (no clutch, no gearing, small steering angle, toy car weight)and I really learned some stuff here to try and look at drifting in a more systematic way instead of just thinking throw the car sideways and control it.
Oh hell yeah, i've been waiting for this 😍 thank you boss!! Much love
You'll be making Torretto remember his memories when he started drifting...Respect, bruh!
Extremely helpful, thanks! This is the only video I've ever seen that tells me to countersteer earlier, and that was what was missing for me.
Duuuude. I did a one day drifting course (birthday present). And you explain it exactly like that pro! Showing me examples everytime I spun the car and went through why it happened etc. Your a great teacher man !
"Apply same theory to the controller" Big Facts.
Feather the R2 on the controller to not over throttle
When counter steering try to be a little more light on the l3 so you don’t spin
Basically the same concept different situation

@@X28Q It's all in the throttle work
Do you have a button for the clutch or is it not needed so much on the game?
the intro felt like the car was talking to me through the revs lol
Ive been struggling so bad with my wheel just not turning in time and spinning out like you showed in that "bad example" im gonna come back to this video everytime i practice until i can finally work with this stuff. thanks for showing how you can learn all of that without advanced techniques like clutchkicks or brakedrifts or 4wheel drifts. a little light of hope has shined upon me now.
Thank you so much for this video! You're the first person whose instructions I found crystal clear and easy to follow, and having the throttle management separately shown from steering wheel management is a huge contributor to that. For some reason I've always tried to fight the natural alignment of the wheel at the turn in and do it manually, but your comparison at 7:20 made all my mistakes click in my head. I can't wait to set my wheel up next time and practice with your tips!
Broooo you were right, I forced myself to be gentle on the throttle and holy shit my drifts are much better and consistent now. Thnx Boss and keep up the content😍
7:20 this is exactly what I needed to help me stop spinning! Thank you so much!
Thanks! I literally improved instantly, no more fighting with the wheel!
BEST Drift video, period. THANK YOU !!! WOW
And for anyone that feels like some of this is alot to take in, or that is seems complicated, when you nail it once or twice itll pretty much become instinct and you wont have to think about it anymore, itll just feel natural
hmm idk, I have nailed it multiple times already, but it's still hard to do tbh. I can't do it every time.
Brilliant tutorial on the mechanics of drifting! Thanking you for articulating the fundamentals well and in a way that is understandable to a plebeian like myself XD!
Thank you CToretto for making this kind of video, I learn to drift a few months ago from this video and i watch all 3 videos from this playlist, and it really helps me much on my progress to drift. Very easy to understand and straight to the point ! Thank you bro, hope we can play in the same server one day 🙏🙏
By far the best tutorial video i've seen. thanks so much cant wait to try.
I know this video is old, but I just got into Asseto Corsa and sim racing. I felt like I could not stop myself from spinning out and just could not get the right feel for when to counter steer. I turned up FFB and watched your example and realized I was counter steering way too late each time! Thank you so much, that example was perfect and helped me immensely.
what did you turn the FFB up to?
This is the best beginner drift tutorial I have seen in yt. Glad I found it.
one thing i realised among these super smooth youtube drifters is they are really good at judging corner speed. they know exactly how much speed to carry or lose when transitioning into the next corner which is part ofwhat makes them soooo smooth. for those struggling with corner speeds, an fov adjustment might help for you, but it probably comes down to a lot of practice on the same corner
That part at 7:15 was extremely helpfull! I checked a lot of guides but that part finally made it clear to me why I was constantly overspinning :)
You know what car is that?
Great tips!
Man this helped me so much. Thanks man, this helped me on for a horizon 5, and just took me like 3 days to learn how to drift. My drifts aren’t that clean, but I’m still practicing. Thanks for the help.

Same principles apply. The biggest point was that it doesn't take much to initiate. Any little nudge in that direction should be followed with instant and precise counter steer (much hard with a controller if no assists are available.)
Games like Forza and GT have such assists built in, while games like Car X take such assists to an extreme. All to make it more accessible. No matter what the principle is the same: upset the car slightly and be ahead of it in terms of counter steer at all times. :D
I was already doing decent but this made me even better! Thank you!
as a person who is learning extremly fast i can say that this video still was a great help and probably for many people too
This is so nice and comprehensive! Now, lets see if the G29 lets me do the same because I feel like the countersteer speed is slower than your t300
That is true, mainly because the G29 is gear driven while the T300 is belt driven which makes it smoother and faster, you'll have to adapt your driving style and kinda help the G29 when counter steering in order not to spin out, also try different settings out, it makes a big difference
Nice
Thank you so much , i was about to give up on drifting till i found this video , al i needed was the trottle control tip , i didnt squeeze the accel but now i do! and i can drift! thank you so much!

@@juankavegaa__ Hey! I managed to fix the problem. I thought assetto automatically turns off abs and stability control but that wasn’t the case. Try turning them off:D When you select your car and track there are weather options and track conditions and so on. When you let go of the steering wheel and it automatically counter steers... how do you know when to stop the counter steer? I tried it but always applied too much counter steer as I failed to catch and stop the steering wheel in time.
