John needs to be strong to carry all of that ammo.

When Rip and John speak I listen.
I'm glad Rip added that little bit at the end about training suboptimally. I think people need to remember that consistent, suboptimal training is massively better than beating yourself up over failing to be perfect at all times
This. I would get frustrated over the fact that the places I was going to train weren't consistent in the plates' weights. I still made progress.
I think this mindset is also useful in others aspects of the program. Sure, you might not should've increased your squat by that much today, and your form may have broken down because of this or you couldn't finish your set, but you are learning to listen to your body. Don't beat yourself up about it.
Excellent point. What's the old saying, "perfect is the enemy of good enough" (or something like that).
@@stephenbesch5331 Yep. I struggle to find the sweetspot between too light and too heavy, still. The holy "Minimal Effective Dose" seems to be all over the place.
Two of my favorites. They make good dialogue.
2:19 John I know your still relatively new to Starting Strength so I hate to nitpick... it's pronounced "fahve reps".
And don't forget your "hip drahve!"
I love how quickly John goes from "I feel like there's an insinuation I'm not already strong" to then changing the subject and dodging the question when Mark asks him what his PR lifts are.
John, you're not strong. That's okay though.
Hang in there little fella you'll be strong someday 😂😂
Stronger people are harder to kill.
And more useful in general.
@Johnny Mad Dog stronger than some; weaker than others but most importantly, not as strong as I will be.
Ballistics disagrees.

John has a strong sense of humor. 🇺🇸
Rip:"You seem to be interested in getting strong...why?"
John:(utilizes the phone a friend option)....ring ring....ring ring.
Pat McNamara:”Make incremental gains everyday. The math is simple. Ask yourself, “if I cloned myself yesterday, can I kick my clone’s ass tomorrow?”
This applies physically, mentally, spiritually and of course....dad jokes.
cause it'll go better with his fabulous hair
What's up with these rashes on Rip's forearms every now and then?
