NANCY, 40, from California, was 19 years old when her ex set her on fire, changing her life forever. After splitting up, Nancy had agreed to meet her ex one last time. Nancy explained to Shake My Beauty that when they said goodbye to each other, her ex said: “I’ll see you on the other side.” Confused by what he meant, she went to bed. “Next thing I knew, I was on fire,” she explained. Suffering 35% burns to her face, neck, arms, upper chest and hands, Nancy was left wondering, “Why me?”. After spending nine months indoors, she finally felt able to leave the house, but still covered up in a bucket hat and trench coat. Eventually embracing her body, Nancy now refuses to hide her scars - she’s proud of them. She said: “He wants me to live a miserable life, but the best revenge is to live my best life."

It seems to me that commoners are little insecure about each other's misfortune as if they have a hive mind. In their fragile mind, everybody including the ugliest mofo ever lived is still "beautiful and strong". However, there are also some people especially whites who are eager to help poor people in 3rd world so that they can feel "superior and godly" next to us. They come with all smiles and money but when locals refuse their help, they get little toxic and pushy. My point is i don't believe in toxic positivity.

Hi Everyone! Wow, I just want to thank you for being so supportive I was a bit nervous to read the comments when they first came out. My friends said everyone has been positive and that I should read it and here I am. I hope my story is able to help others see past their insecurities or fear and experience a sense of freedom by not caring what other people think. In regards to the most asked question here, "Where is he now?" Well, he is still in prison but can apply to be released every few years. For now, I feel safe as long as he stays in there. My boyfriend actually knows this girl because they went to high school together and after hearing her story, I just feel so sad for her but I’m glad she overcame everything and is happy with who is is no matter what happens this just shows how brave and beautiful this girl is inside and out. Her face , her eyes, her hands, you can tell she had amazing doctors and great skin. Her face is so symmetrical and beautiful. As a doctor, I'm amazed at how nice she looks after the surgeries and you can tell she's a nice person too. Many burn victims get red scars on fair skin, even tan color skin but her scarring tissue is similar to her skin tone. I wonder why this is, if it's her skin or some kind of treatment. Curious medical question here. Thanks
Im a Plastic & Reconstructive surgeon and thought the same thing. Im wondering what procedures they used. Mabe donor sites were just phenomenal quality? Im wondering if lasers had any play in it? She looks wonderful.. byt also her amazing mental strength has a big part in it. My patients who ooze confidence and mentally healthy usually have a brightness and glow to their skin. Its so important. Alot of people wouldnt have even survived this but her mental strength got her through🙏🏼
@@domwang3909 does laser treatment work for dark spots?even on someone with diabetes. I'm losing confidence by the day
If I'm not mistaken, she has makeup on (foundation, powder). Before she did her interview, there is a good chance the makeup team applied it all over. She could have also had scar camouflage tattooing. I have 3rd degree burns on a small portion of my face and they are bone white against my tan complexion.
@@domwang3909 I just looked her up and she states that she wears costume makeup to hide her scars. She's one brave and beautiful lady.
@@praxym9293 yes laser treatments work very well to resurface the skin. There’s other things too that might help like chemical peels. I’d see a local medi-spa and see what the dr or nurse there recommends
Knowing how the justice system works, the attacker most likely did not face any charges, out on the street right now, free to live his life with zero punishment. The world is really unfair. He should have been charged with attempted murder.
