- A brave beauty vlogger fought her way back from the bacterial meningitis that caused her to lose 57% of her skin and required all four limbs to be amputated. Kaitlyn Dobrow, 25, from southern California, was a fit, active 18-year-old when she caught the terrifying illness which left her hospitalised for six months - where she underwent 22 surgeries. After going through the ordeal of rehab, Kaitlyn channelled her energies into make-up as one of the few things she felt she could still do with her prosthetics. Kaitlyn is now a successful beauty vlogger and disability rights advocate with 16 million views and 235,000 subscribers on UA-cam and more than 132,000 followers on Instagram.

I worked with four patients like this beautiful lady, I am a physical therapist for forty years, she wants to be able to be totally independent, AND does a great job! We learn to accept the circumstances for one. Regardless of the situation we have to learn to live with it. To be honest nobody's truly happy with anything until they realize the value it held. Without knowing what something is worth you can't properly understand how to appreciate it.

I had doctors keep telling me I had high mental strength. Two years ago when I was 28 I went into liver and then respiratory failure. I had under a 40% chance of surviving. And I had slowly become weaker and weaker to the point I lost the ability to walk and could barely stand. Four weeks hooked up to 3+ machines, and then 3 weeks in a rehab place - and I still can’t feel my right foot really so I can’t jog or run, I have to walk. An annoying handicap. Then I went to my liver doctor who saw me in the hospital, and he told me that when he saw my numbers he had written me off as dead. It still all gave me PTSD, but I keep pushing forward - so when I get sick and frustrated I try to tell myself that if I could conquer all that, then I can conquer anything. It’s not easy, but getting depressed about it just makes it worse.

Something my cousin's wife always says is that her 4 beautiful children (and her husband ❤) gave her those stretch marks! She earned them by growing humans and becoming a mother. That's inevitable and probably one of the things that makes us value life more, even more than seeing someone like her. No pain is worse than other, pain is pain. You can't compare yourself to her. There will be days that you'll complain, there will be days where you'll feel grateful. Try to keep more and more grateful, but don't think that you don't deserve to complain. You're human, it's fine. Just don't make it a habit!

It took time for them, Kaitlyn has a UA-cam channel that goes into detail but it was through bonding over her changes that they were able to go on a trip to las vega TOGETHER WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS! and have a great time say for one very pretty blue drink that tasted like electricity and sadness as her brother put it.

I hope this doesn't come off as sounding mean, but if I'm being totally honest I know I would fall into a very deep hole of depression and probably never make it out. I have a hard enough time feeling good about myself when my skin is breaking out, or when I've gained weight. Such trivial, ridiculously inconsequential things in the grand scheme. This woman blows me away with her courage, her resilience and her attitude. Just incredible.

We all don't know what we can untill it happens! When l was 32 lethought it waseenough what lehad to go through: 47 surgeries and all the pain, and, additioning, all the pain of every day. Now, 56 years old, 54 surgeries , sitting in a wheelchair , a lot pain more, with every single move of my body and some without, l have so much more to go through! And l do! Best is l gave brith to a baby when 36, with cesarian surgery cause of emergency of my baby to get oxigen enough. Othrwise he would have died cause he laid wrong in my body, he stuck with his nose onto the hip bone and couldn't go out. His nose was blue and black whtn born and he's a little scar remembering l felt rigth when l said he's in danger first time. Docs didn't want to believe a first mother but l saved his life by didn't give up to say they've to look that'something was wrong withthimeit were as if he bursted my bones into sp\itters. I was right. And allthough my life is full of much pain every single moment l wanna \ive cause l can help my son! He's 19 now, and has some chronical diseases. He can live, but docs allways said he'd only get max.3 years! Noone overcame his cronical disgoing blood , he motabolsm can't have normal food! He can't eat fruit, vegetakle , no, colours, E - components in food, no whole corn, only 405 farine , to drink only water and black tea or a bit peppermint tea. That's all! A lot of medikaments with colour (E - components) or all sugar surrogates he never may try cause this needs immediatly hospital with death - dangers! But we handle it and he needs me a couple of years until he notices if it's bad inside of his blood. He doesn't notice it early enough! And health insurance has nu number for this disease, cause it's so seldom, only 3 kids had it within the last 70 years and he's the only one who survived more than 3 years. Docs won't know why. I do! God wanted him to grow up! So it's needed me to live some times with all my pain. It's ok! For me it's ok, but sometimes, when it's too much for me l cry a time. Then l stopp when my souleis a bit better and pray thank you to my Lord!
But l've my limbs, all four, even if one of it hurts in the knee joint , it's better wth it than without, l guess. Somtimes l think it can't be worse. But this lady here went through hell! My life's easy in comparing hers to mine! WoW! You show me l 'm lucky allthoUgh all the Pain! And you show all people if one doesn't give up life will be there! You do the best of all and you're great and brave! I pray for you! Your parents are wonderful! Be blessed further on!
Kaitlyn has a super support-system in her parents and brother. Can't be easy to live like this at all and sending love and strength to Kaitlyn and her family💗
