I gained a whole lot of respect for Hamed with his interview giving all the credit to Barrera winning and not making any excuses. I hate when boxers do that, or say “all the credit to him, but I was off because of...” It’s just a backhanded compliment. So when a guy that’s undefeated, cocky, and confident loses but gives an interview like that I really appreciate it.
The difference between Hamed and Wilder, is that Hamed wasn't dumb enough to ever truly believe his own bullshit. He was just having fun, and trying to psyche out the opposition, so when he eventually got beat up, he was like "oh well".
@@shakes.dontknowwhatyergettin love it when someone reaches a conclusion based on nothing but his opinion and make it seem as if it is the ultimate truth.
@@mohannadessam1783 love it when someone is a self righteous asshole over someone else's opinion
Which is what made Sky Sports' coverage so embarrassing. They could write a book with all the excuses they gave. It's applicable to so many different fights almost solely due to the extreme bias they have towards their home-grown fighters.
Ahmed was a really tough talented elusive unique individual with a lot of upside and it's a shame that he never fought after this but what happened really in this fight was that he underestimated his opponent he underestimated the amount of power and basically the heart he had and one of the worst things I think number one was that during training Emmanuel Steward no lie my nigga I remember him saying that the prince got all the tapes of barreras fights but he only focused on watching the fights that he had lost instead of watching all the fights that he had won like WTF man at least watch the fights against the best opponents and see him at his best and see what he does well what he does better than you what he does that might affect your upside how he plays to your weaknesses how he plays to your strengths you want to watch your opponent at their best notice not watch them at their worst that's pointless loss is different but it's also the same they failed to do what they should do not every victory is completely distinct because every opponent is different and he was a smart enough fighter where he should have known that great fighters are built molded in the clash of fisticuffs and furious combat talent will have you homeless if hardwork isn't your secondary breathing apparatus but regardless of shortcomings me I think both guys should be in the Hall of Fame Barrera has more of a legacy you know he had epic wars with guys like Marquez wars with Manny Pacquiao and of course Morales and s*** but yeah be eazy my brother keep up the great I work love it live it nobody plays boxing
At least Hamed didn’t deny he lost 🤝
Idk why he would say that. Even Ray Charles saw that ass whooping.
My comment was about Hamed. Im not getting into it.
@a pimp named Mdot Lol relax dude, there’s no need to get worked up over Loma’s loss.
@Atx Vn Loma also said the judges were bribed lmao. He’s a sore loser.
Well its quite evident anyway

Love him or hate him, you can't deny that Hamed was an entertaining boxer, imagine both prime jones jr. and prime hamed in these era, boxing fans would lose their mind.
Great performer for England at the time BUT truth is most of his opponents on domestic scene were easy wins when it came to Barrera he was exposed most of his technique was based around southpaw angle with a cork screw upper to get in / with no jab or set up/ Conner mc Tapper does it now and if you think about it the same thing has happend to him getting caught with that technique. same with the mouth that in the end doesnt quite match the work.
@Carrera First Tell that to Toney, Hopkins faces.
@@rickyjames4228 Conor often used kick to set up tho.

@@noise289 Quick question what do think Connors main strength's are? Punching, kicking or the ground?
“I ain’t never let a Mexican boy beat me!”

Have you seen the awesome documentary “Little Prince, Big Fight"?? It's awesome and shows just how badly Prince Naseem didn't take the fight seriously
Going watch it now
@@lilstrawhat you're gna love it brother
What a great watch 👏
@@lilstrawhat I'm glad you got to watch it man....it rly was one of my fave behind the scenes from boxing. Just goes to show you how unfocused Prince Naseem was
You initially put me onto prince Naseem, and also told me the story of his career. I’m thrilled you made this video Hancho, you are among if not the best among UA-cam boxing channels
Can you do finito López he’s so underrated!!! People forget he was a beast and had beautiful boxing
If he ain’t Mexican then no
ricardo lopez is underrated due to his weight class so hes not mentioned in fantasy fights at all and ricardo lopez has character based off him in hajime no ippo named ricardo martinez the featherweight
@Carrera First I hate those boxing fans😂😂
Yes please! One of the most beautiful boxers of all time. And a insane KO percentage of 75 percent. 51 undefeated flyweight. Definitely one of if not the best fighters from the past few decades.
Finito was the best man I mean 56-0 come on
This, along with the Broner vs Maidana fight, were the two most satisfying outcomes I have seen in fights.
I feel the same way
This.
Come on bro. Naseem is cocky but he at least had skills to back it up. Comparing him to the hypejob broner is doing him diry imo
@@CatOnTheComeback2024 I’m not comparing skills, just cockiness. Naseem was a beat for sure!
Marquez KO against Pacquiao.
Nice video, although bit of key insight you might consider adding/changing:
There was a long delay with the ringwalks as Barrera was ready to go out. What happened?
The Barrera camp got tipped off that Naz was known to cut the thumb attachment to his gloves so he can do a flip over the ropes (it is otherwise impossible). The commission caught Naz, and forced him to change gloves at the last min. Naz was then seen unhappy with the new pair, and asked his camp to re-glove his left hand. Barrera can be seen watching the live feed from Naz's dressing room at this point and his whole camp laughing. This was the actual reason Naz never did a flip again. The commission considered fining Naz for tampering with his gloves, but think they quickly dropped it in the end (being a minor infringement).
Not trying to say you're wrong but where did you hear this? I looked it up (albeit not too extensively) and can't find any evidence of this?
@@michaelsilverdahl2175 the HBO documentary for this fight showed a big controversy backstage surrounding the gloves and they both do switch gloves and watch each other re tape but it was never really explained why. I never heard about the thumb thing but it kinda makes sense.
Correction: Barrera vs Morales 1 was Fight of the decade*, not fight of the year
I remember watching a documentary at the time, of the build up to the fight from Hamed's point of view. It was obvious from watching that, that he had surrounded himself with sycophants and yes men, whilst hardly training. It was a shame, he truly was one of the greats.
“Little Prince, Big Fight" great boxing documentary...shows just how little Prince Naseem took the fight
... Emmanuel Stewart said it all when he showed up and knew he was in trouble

Cheers from Argentina brother, amazing work like always.

Another fun fact...he completely roasted and destroyed Chris Eubank Jr. after his fight with George Groves 😂. He went IN on him!
So crazy, I just searched to see if you had done this one already.
Keep it up hancho.... you're a beast bro
This is a fantastic & well put together production.
I'm from the UK & I remember betting on this. I don't gamble but Barrera was my favourite fighter at the time, he had shades of 'Julio Cesar Chavez' who is my all time favourite fighter.
Anyway..
I didn't get 3-1, maybe because I placed the bet the day of the fight? I got 2-1 at £100. The booky thought I was nuts.
Hmmm!
Many years later either Barrera or Morales put a tweet out with a short vid on the anniversary of their first fight of which Morales got the nod. I replied to that tweet with my opinion on who 'really' won, 'Barrera' & would you know, they both 'liked' that tweet.
Yes it was them, blue tick.
I replied how made up I was & what a good sport Morales was & again they, 'liked' that reply.
Much respect to them both.
True warriors & a credit to their country & the sport of boxing.
Not sure about Naz?
The jury's still out with me.
Thank you fella, brilliant upload. 👍
Now this does put a smile on my face
I thought Hamed’s options were Barrea, Morales, and Marquez, and his team chose Barrea because they thought Marquez’s style would trouble Hamed
Morales team refused to box Hamed, so they though Barrera was the best option.
@@bigboris5774
Hamed chose Barrera because they thought he was washed up. Morales didn’t duck Hamed. Hamed tried to cherry pick Barrera and got beat and exposed. Then he quit boxing.
@@selfmade8884
Marquez had on,y had like 32 fights, when this had happened and lost 2 of them, people act like Hamed ducked Marquez but nobody even knew who he was in the late 90s early 2000s
@@bigboris5774
Ok.......and Barrera had 3 losses when he fought hamed. Any of those three would have beat hamed. Hamed was a front runner who quit boxing the first time he faced adversity.
@@selfmade8884
So? He retired a 27 year old millionaire with no injuries
Barrera just like Larry Holmes had one of the best off beat jabs I've ever seen. Also you should give credit to Marco for going from a Chavez style brawler to a Marquez type of technical boxer/puncher in just a couple of years. He was DEFINITELY NOT the same fighter that lost to Junior Jones.
Who else finds it really satisfying to watch him do this 6:25 ? I’ve always loved watching people throw good combinations on the bag or doing stuff like this.
"A fight with Barrera or Morales would define you" Larry had no idea how true that statement was. Defined by an ass whooping
Junior jones battered barrera twice
Ive been waiting for this, I can already tell its gonnna be a good one.

*Switch Stances Constantly*
*Fights with his hands down*
*And super overly confident*
*But has more then enough strength and talents to stacc up wins*
*ENTER PRINCE NASEEM*

Dont forget to include poor stances and balance.
@@bigboris5774 if you look at naseem hameds training videos from when he was like 10 years old or something, he fought the exact same way he did as a pro. hands down dancing around it was nuts. I personally love unorthodox fighters like him and RJJ

Man if only hamed took training serious. Imagine a fight with hamed and pacquio

hamed definitely had a chin on him at least
*Glass chin*
He’s a dropper though. He got dropped by Kelley and a lot of other fighters. He fought like Ali but didn’t have the chin that Ali had in his prime.
@@VannTheDawn
Watch when he got knocked out it was due to him having such bad balance a small breeze could send him half way across the Ring
Never got hit before this fight, and which is why he retired, knowing he was afraid of a re-match... Let alone face world class fighters like Morales or Marquez.
Made of glass
Barrera is top 30 ever. Greatness
@No. Body oscar has an ATG resume, but lost all his big fights.
@No. Body Oscar definitely deserves top 5 over Canelo... I would personally put him at top 2. His pro resume and amateur background is one of the best in the entire history of boxing.
Considering his pretty boy looks and marketability, he could’ve easily cherry picked his way around the most dangerous guys, but he chose to take the hardest fights even when he was well past his prime
@No. Body Wait. Was Shane really caught or did he admit to using them?
@No. Body Oliverez, Sanchez, Zarate
jorge Kawaguchi top 3
I always felt that Prince Naseem should have rematched Barrera boxers lose but great fighters avenge those losses unfortunately this fight damaged Naseem psychologically which was a weakness in his mental fortitude he simply wasn't the same after as he couldn't comprehend that he lost!
Imagine how Hamed would look if after the loss he talked about various conspiracy theories like Barrera had his gloves loaded, or he that some1 spiked his water etc...
If he had won, he would have been an Arab muslim champion in the same year as 9/11
One of my favorite fights of all time i lost count of how many times I’ve watched it

Hancho makes some of the best content on UA-cam period not just boxing/sports content.
Those judge scorecards were insane. That fight was not that close. It was a pure boxing lesson.
Marco Antonio Barrera is Hall Of Fame bound fighter on Naseem Hamed's record, the rest are nobodies,has-beens,never-was and Glass Joe's .
I think Kelly took a dive.
One of my all time favorite fight, and my all time favorite fighters. I wish the Prince could have fought a little longer. That guy was fun to watch.
Hamed has a hell of a chin...and balance...how he didn't go down on some of those punches was incredible
Thanks Office Hancho and much appreciation for the great boxers covered in this video.
bro you always upload right as I’m about to eat bless your soul 🙏🏽
I saw an interview Naz did about his friend Kell Brooks prior to his fight with GGG. All the extra weight Naz has put on must have affected his brain because he totally disrespected GGG. Kell is a good boxer but GGG is great and he proved it.
Probably the extra cocaine more than the extra weight
A tale of Lomachenko vs Lopez would be great because it seemed to be a pivot from that little "transition era" between today's young talents and the time of Floyd and Pacquiao. Loma was dominating that brief transition period but Lopez came and shook everything up becoming arguably the youngest undisputed lightweight in history. Now Loma needs to get a title from these young fighters to get his name back in the conversation. The fight itself was pretty ass, but it was a big game changer
You look at Hamed's build, his chest and shoulders (3:04), and the man basically had the dimensions of a middleweight at 5'3"
One of the hardest punchers pound for pound in boxing history
Once again another quality product from our boy Honcho thank you
If only the prince never got too arrogant and took Barrera seriously pride comes before the fall
I have to disagree. “If only he Never got too arrogant”. Because he kept the same “too arrogant” attitude for like 10-15 fights way before he fought Barrera. Barrera was just better prepared and he wasn’t. I also heard him mention hand problems
@@culinaryg too arrogant as in he lacked intensity in training over looking his opponent believing in his own hype etc etc
Your videos are so good! I rewatch them all the time 😁 Thanks for posting and keep up the great work!

Imagine if Naz fought Mayweather and took his 0. Boxing would have changed forever
You think Mayweather knocks him out?
Nah lol
Thank you for the context and analysis as always.
As par usual, class class work weather it's in the editing, montage, storytelling, everything - keep it up!
Hamed’s eyes were so exhausted at the start. He’s totally messed up.
It’s obvious he’s not easy to fight.
Those bags under his eyes!
Prince Naseem was the ultimate confidence fighter.
After being smacked around by Barrera he was never the same.
Shame cause he was one hell of good boxer to watch.
Hamed was supposed to fight Erick Morales but chose Barrera. Honestly, Morales wouldve taken his soul as well 😅
Bob Arum said he wouldn’t let one of his boys face Hamed
nah don't think that
@Yugebutts Fukr
And you are delusional and know nothing about boxing since Arum wouldn’t let Morales face Hamed
@Yugebutts Fukr
Nobody said Hamed would beat him
But
“Hamed was supposed to fight Erick Morales but chose Barrera”
Is clearly not true, and Morales wasn’t allowed to fight Hamed.
And also “cave dweller”? Real mature I’m guessing you had more than 50 million by the age of 27, 36-1, 31 by KO record, 8 year long title reign, and is still being talked about 20 years after they retire?
@@bigboris5774 He doesn't have millions of Boxing fans around the world laughing at him getting his face smashed into a turnbuckle :)
I always thought his back story showed him in a great light, he could have basically cruised through life but had the desire to be a fighter and not just a good fighter, a great of the time. Great production from hancho as per
These are the best videos!! I love the stories behind the fights.
As a fight fan, I say "great video" for content and production, largely because this is one of my favorite all-time fights, but also because I appreciate any expression of an adept skill set and the work that goes into projects like these. As a musician, I say "DAMN that is some amazing soundtrack work!" Production value is a big bonus point for me in these kinds of videos, but actually taking time to create or find atmosphere with great music? That deserves far more recognition and appreciation than it gets. Because regardless of whether it's a case of talent or taste, creating or finding, those seemingly little things we often take for granted really add a ton to the message. Well done.
U know u in trouble in Vegas when u get hit with beer by someone in the audience 🤞🏾
Also for all those saying hype job, he beat 10 world champions and was a millionaire before becoming world champ. And all yall talk like you would want to step in the ring with prime Hamed or Prime Barrera. Don't lie, you wouldn't.
Great video Man keep it up! Can you do tale of cotto vs Margarito 2
Barrera showed everyone that he worked so hard that night after getting put down by the media. But prince didn't work too hard, I guess that weight loss he had to do, but also because he thought the same Barrera against Jones was the one coming into the ring. Prime vs Prime. We NEVER usually see that in these higher weight classes, but they do happen in these lower weight classes from feather down to strawweight. Great as always hancho
Thanks for the amazing boxing videos especially this series its the best 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This fight was when Barrera put aside the puncher brawler crowd pleasing style and said I'm going to use my superior boxing skills the world has not seen for some time and take mr hamed to school and completely show what pure boxing iq and determination will do to unorthodox fighting style in the squared circle, for us who followed boxing in this time frame, hamed was unbeatable and favored to get a k.o win , when Barrera shut him down it was a huge victory for us mexican boxing fans, respect to naseem a once in a lifetime type of fighter who accepted his loss like a true champion and gave Marco the nod of approval for a well executed game plan
I can never get enough of this fight.
I remember that fight like it was yesterday
It was such a one sided ass kicking and I'm not going to lie I loved every second of it because Prince was so cocky and had that coming I knew Barrera was a much better technical fighter

A true champion legend would have wanted revenge and the rematch 🤔
apparently his hands were fucked like Floyd, except Floyd adapted like champ
he was finished at that point. hands were gone like ^ said and i think the motivation just wasn't there. he didn't train properly for this fight and he left Ingle after the kelley fight. Ingle even said after that kelley fight hamed was finished. there's an interview with manny steward about why he lost to barrera and he says he just wasn't into the fight. he didn't take it seriously.
