BIG BUD Day At The Tractor Pull - Welker Farms Inc

- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- This year the Marias Fair hosted a tractor pull and being that we live so close to the fairgrounds we decided to bring down some tractors and give it a try at the sled. BIG BRUTE also gave it a try and did very well except for a sudden downshift at the end that snapped an axle shaft. We probably won't run the BRUTE again in the future but thought it was fun giving it a run at least once.
The sled weighs 45,000lbs and has hydraulic spikes that shoot into the ground for added resistance as well as brakes that can lock up. For our Buds they put on a tow strap so the tractors could not lift the front of the sled up which greatly increased the resistance. You can see just how hard that sled was to pull! Our 525/50 weighs around 52,000 lbs and could just barely keep pulling the sled under max resistance. If we had another 10,000-15,000 lbs the tires likely would not have spun as much and it would have kept going.

Gramps in that silver cummins is a pulling MACHINE! He wins every single year at the pulls just down the road.
Man that pass by at the end. What a triumphant story!
And big bud pulls ahead on the backstretch heading into turn 3 buds got a full tractor lead. Things ya thought ya would never see, brought to you by the best on you tube. Welker Farms for the win
the brute wasn't made to pull anyways it was made to go fast and spray and the full pull was just icing on the cake
Good ol country boys having fun with their good ol country toys, so we broke something well let’s fix it and get on with our chores. Love the vid. Keep up the great work
Love seeing the maple leaf flying on the sled. 🇨🇦
No problem for the big guy. Love that tractor
Great to see you participate in the community. All should be conscious stewards of the land and have a sense of civic duty to be a positive influence in our neighborhoods. Job well done. 👏
God dam ! Imagine the torque that brute put on in order to break that axle 😳😳😳😳
11:20, with the William Tell Overture and the bud racing around the track YES!! Makes my day as a heavy equipment fanatic and musician.
Great to see people having well earned fun. Great to have the resources as well lol
If a bud 600 could do that, imagine what the 747 could do. It could, in my head at least, pull two sleds, since fully ballasted it weighs over 100k pounds
Welker Farms Inc my new favorit agricultural channel on youtube thank you nick&family.
"Yeah he´s back." nice one
Awesome machine, that Big Brute you guys have. The faith you guys put in your kit is incredible. The belief you have in the Big Brute in astonishing. Ah man, my heart sank, when I saw the Brute make a jerk move at the end of the Big Pull. Man you are Brave to take that on the chin. Your resilience is breathtaking. Even when your down your not out. You guys just dust yourselves down and get on with the job. OK, it broke. No shame. Let's get in fixed, Volia, the Brute is back on the road, proud as punch at 50mph flat out down to road to the next field that needs spraying. Awesome Dudes in Shelby Montana. Hats out to you guys. Numbers Ch6 v24-26.
It was a good show, appreciate the sacrifice.
I've only seen one Tractor pull in the UK, in a little village called Garstang in Lancashire some 30 years ago, the winning tractor had a Merlin aircraft engine in.
spex357 they’ve had one at strumpshaw steam rally last two years only one I’ve ever seen
Well done Nick. Thumbs up very nice video. Have a nice week everyone
Bud's like: "Yeah, so where do you want me to park the sled?"
Haha that's good
Yeah haha that's good
Hahaha
That might be the world record for the most horses on a horse track at one time. I have seen one 545 in person and it’s a work of art.
Good tgung about it happening at the tractor pull is that now you know where the weakest link is. Now, you can fix it and you have one hell of a diff axle set up for real work. 😎👍
After all, you had fun and BRAGGING RIGHTS! Not to mention the prize purse. 😀
I love looking at American tractors
It's frightening how fast that brute is!
50 mph
@Allison Oh hell no! Im gonna have nightamers of me driving my beetle being chased by a giant!
Patric it can only go 60 max
@@aceandhis in the UK were limited to 25 with some newer ones being able to top out at 40... 60 is very fast 😂
It is
The Tractor Pull is a great sport. A lot of creativity, mechanical knowledge and Skill involved. We need to see more young people involved in the sport.
First time ever seen big buds do tractor pulling amazing there made of hard steel keeps going
Just rewatching this after 3 years, on a different account, oh how many memories this brings back
I'm not much of an expert, but I'm fairly certain most tractor pulls don't have a sprayer class
Yes, but fun to watch.
Big brute doesnt count lol
I can't believe I missed this. Always wanted to see a big bud do a tractor pull !
Watching that big bud enter the tractor pull going really slow but pulling it I was like yeah shes gos slow but that big bud wont stop till the earth is ripped in half lol
Its amazing how small them axle shafts our compared the the big tires!
Great video. And thankful it wasn't a live stream.
Sled operator. "Yes I got the big bud stopped" big bud "nope time to crab walk it"
In all honest I expected them not to be stopped and do laps with the sled...
It was amazing how hard it pulled. That tow rope made it hard and the spikes that it used. If we had 10,000-15,000 lbs more it wouldn't have stopped. Also that spot it stopped in they had just watered down so it wasn't hard packed. That's why it started going again as it climbed out of the wet ground.
The track looked really dry.
time for trying one of those big bud 788 or what they are called something with a bunch of 8s
I still want to see the 747 pull....
It's too bad that they stopped you and didn't let you see just how much farther it could've gone once it started moving again.
Love the BUDS and the way you guy's take care of your equipment.
Wishin ya the BEST !
Thanks!
Big brute is a marvel of engineering! Possibly the coolest custom farm sprayer! Also that awesome pulling montage at the end was amazing! Keep it up walker farms! You guys run a amazing UA-cam channel!
Nice to see them pullin, good job Nick
Nice footage of the buds at the tractor pull.
Wow what fun apart from the axel shaft braking on the Big Brute.
That's cool , good job guys
That was awesome! The pure power of the 525/50!
And I love the ending! Thanks Nick!
Poor Brute!
But it did a great job!👍🏻
I really enjoy the purity that this channel puts out. The Real Deal
We try to be as genuine as possible here on this channel, a lot of this audience is farmers but for those who are not we hope to show we are ordanay Americans trying to make a good living on a family heritage.
The spline teeth create a stress concentration even though the axle is not any smaller through the spline.
Next year if you decide to pull again, let us know when it is. That was a show Jake and I were sad to miss. You should check into bringing them down near Billings when they pull with the old steam engines!
Thanks for the video, Nick. Glad to see Big Brute back to work. That thing can fly!
BlG BUD Day At The Tractor Pull - Welker farms lnc👍👍👍
Nothing beat the Big Buds👍👍
Gotta love the Brute!! Love the videos, Nick! Keep em comin.
I love the turkey pan as a drip pan.
Big Buds ROCK!
This reminds me on the first tracktorpulling in Holland in 1977. They invited the Americans: Les Houck there with his 800 hp machine (foxy lady) and Mark Stauffer with his Sneeky Pete.
They did"nt expect that there were coming 20000 people to that little town to see that. We were early but many people did"nt even reach the spot because off the traffic chaos. Lateron we visited many pullings indoor and outdoor. I like it. Follow it a bit now on youtube. Amazing see them build the most incredible machines with 8000 hp!!
8000hp is unreal!
Loved the video. Was great to see the high speed of the bud going round the track 😂😂😂
I like the use of the William Tell Overture.
the Brute is so cute first sprayer in the world that goes fullpull awsome😀👍✌ cool too see legarms at work😂
Them Boys was PULLI'N !!
Buds pulled like a Boss!!!
The axle is smaller due to the planetary final drive. The final reduction is at the wheel end. The ford axle is reduced at the differential.
The fine spline axle might actually have the same torque capacity as that old course spline. The reason it runs smaller axles is the gear reduction at the hub, you shock loaded it at full power dropping to first under all the weight, that is one wicked transmission
Seems counterintuitive but the fine splines on the tractor axle actually makes them stronger than the similar sized coarse spline axle on the truck axle you compared it to.
4:58 "THEY BUILT THAT!!!" HELL YEAH THEY DID!!!!!!!
Thank you Hollywood for the video
Love the guy in the background going " they built that?" Lol
Had I planned my summer vacation a little better, I might have been able to travel to Shelby, MT, and witness this first hand. Instead, I'll settle for your viddy, Nick. Well done.
I think I have been wait for this for a while not realizing it’s been out for a while
Awesome work guys
Great vid thanks for posting!
The wife's roast pan is awesome for gear oil! Great video, the Brute did great!
Nick you cant call big brute anymore.
I think its a road train brute man that was awsome man big thanks was amazing nick
would love to been there to see the show.
525/50 ain’t no joke
You ain't shittin ! Here, hold my beer, I'll need both hands for this one !
She's a beast
@@crazyhass84 but Nick has said that it's turned up to about 600+
@@crazyhass84 but the big Bud's weigh more too so they don't come with weights. The other ones weigh less stock
Andy I am curious where you pulled that number from as it is far from accurate. Planting these buds burn 1/2-3/4 gal per acre. Compare that to new and you'll see it is very very similar.
Wow! So surprising that axle shaft isn't bigger! But amazing video! Very interesting!
SMR(ShelbyMontanaRailroads)??? ... Nahh... it’s the Big Brute!!! roaming free without a sled. Awesome!
The Big Buddies are chewing sleds for breakfast and spit ‘em out, sooo cool 🤩😻💪💪
Imagine he torque to twist the spline on the axle. Worked on Cummins for over 40 years, cranked up a KTA 600 to over 700 hp at the wheels and the engine literally twisted and destroyed the transmission gears, they were burnt and looked like slag from cutting torch. This happened in 1986 and cost 4700.00 for a new trans, customer was a power freak and was bragging about the power his engine had. Enjoyed your video, brings back many memories of super tuning engines. I drive through Shelby going to and from AZ maybe will have to stop and take a tour of your place.
Keep safe my friend.
I see a Canadian flag on that sled, awesome! Love what you guys do, so cool. Looks like a great community to be a part of.
O
Most Smart and experienced Operators know you don’t shift your transmission under a load..... I hope these Guys learned a lesson!
The end of this video wants me to see a Big Bud Nasbuds, for the Budweiser 500 at a dirt track. :p
Funny how so many tactors break like that. Splines seem to be a big failure point. Splines do take a hell of a lot of force and even in school I remember no matter what we did it was always the failure point because making the splines larger ended up having the the shaft to be larger increasing weight and leading to other problems.
Love to see the big bid 747 run this
That brute is a beast
Big Brute is my favorite sprayer
1 minute fun and then so much work, hmm 🤔 why does that remind me ? 😇😇😇😇
7:48 "Where's my turkey roasting pan?" - love mom
Beautiful
Greatest tractor and sprayer pull off all time!
Shows ya what happens when the Welkers turn into the Duke boys. Yee haw!!!!
WoW. That thing is fast.
That's awesome guys. It sucks that the brute broke, but you gotta pay to play, and now you have a cool story to go with it.
Next up: Big Bud flat track racing! Or.......legarm pulling the sled!
heck yah, there's nothing more unique than a brute participating in a tractor pull
victory lap for big bud yee haw u get em bud
Great job at the pull!! I bet that was a lot of fun! I don't know how you all keep raising the bar with your videos but you always find a way.
Wow that thing is fast!!!!
BIG BUD is the show !!!!!!
At least it was the axle and not a trans or dif. Awesome seeing those big beasts flexing a little muscle for the crowd lol
big brute was brutal to the sled and that drive train dang!!
That thing sure fly's down the road
I would be in heaven if I had your shop. Lol.
That flexicoil sprayer tank looks good on the brute
Yep he’s back!! Followed by a tour of the track! Top quality. Hope your all well and keep on farming.
That tractor pull was brutal/brute
I love the big broot
Nice work guys! These machines are just giants! I love them!
