A larger version of this with titanium alloy body and bullet resistant coatings will make the perfect platform for a sub machine gun. The future soldier. Able to go anywhere, autonomous, cheap to maintain, and expendable.I hope the Pentagon is listening.
That's a really dumb idea. It's only able to move like this because of a flat surface and very low body weight. You get a slightly bumpy terrain, heavy bulletproof armor and a gun? It will be a very expensive and heavy paperweight.

Hi. These are not standard RC PWM controlled servos that need a dedicated servocontroller. I'm using Dynamixel MX-64/128 servos that are controlled through a TTL bus (serial daisy chained using one of the UART's on the mcu). The code runs on a Teensy 3.6 mcu.

Sweet. But probably wasn't getting good gripping on the floor. Did you try using some rubber/ silicon pads on the point of contact between the floor and the limbs? It would probably go faster.

Would be interesting if you tweaked the movement code so it wouldn't stop on each step, and maybe add some fake momentum to stopping/starting/changing direction by having the body not stay centered during changes in motion and instead be offset to mimic momentum

It needs a jump/launch mechanism on its belly. When it gets low and looks like it wants to jump engage the .mechanism from its belly to spring the entire thing off the ground a few feet (up and forward). I also like the idea of allowing it to go into fight mode with its front two legs in the air. Also soft pad the leg tips so it doesnt sound loud and so much like a robot and have it drop from the rafters by fishing line (preferably directly onto someone's head).

It looks like it's only using the middle and rear ones while the front ones get pushed along for the ride during the sprint scenes.
