This is amazing work and I can totally see this rolling around the surface of Mars. Especially if the "petals" were solar panels. If you added a small camera that revolved around the "equator" at the same speed that it rolled, the robot would be able to see where it is going.

I am a 3d animator, which is a discipline of art, and one of the 12 principles of animation we must learn is... (this is real) ...Charm.
I see other robots doing impressive feats, but the robots themselves lack Charm. The Hexapod on the other hand is almost nothing but charm.
It's as gorgeous as it is technically impressive, and the fact that it has lots of charm makes me believe that (if pursued) it will go further as a commercial product than many other more advanced robots. How the hexapod can include more advanced features for usability is an interesting topic. It would be nice to give it a face for it to communicate, much like the robot in the movie "Ron’s Gone Wrong". Apart from being absolutely adorable, what can a future version of this robot be used for?

If this is not already open-sourced, I'm making it open-source. I've been trying to construct a spherical hexapod similar to this for a few months, as part of a hobby project. This variation appears to solve some of the remaining issues I have with mine, so it is heaven-sent for reverse engineering. But I don't honestly believe Zenta would close-source his, as the actual design is quite intuitive and would be brilliant as a DIY kit for students. I'll keep you posted when I finish the prototype.
