I absolutely love my home village of Wirksworth - put a note in your diary to visit soon, but also to visit during the first weekend of the September Festival which lasts for 3 weeks - The first weekend nearly 200 homes open their doors to show off local Peak District arts, crafts, resign and photography -an interesting fact is that over 200 artist actually live in Wirksworth alone! An inspiring place :)
I always forget about Wirksworth and it's right on the doorstep so this lovely video has made me decide I shall definitely make a visit there very soon
Lived in Wirksworth a few years back, really great placed, very interesting architecturally and historically going back to prehistory. Really thriving creative network in Wirksworth.
I like the tiny holuse squashed in between the two much bigger houses :) Looks like a very quirky village worth exploring to me, with some lovely views.
This is where my family originated. Moving north to Sheffield during the industrial revolution. This is by far one of the prettiest towns ive seen thus far. Planning a vacation to see the peak district and Derbyshire as a whole
And then all the tourists descend on the town. Increasing property prices only to realise that they have priced out the the original community that they moved in to see. And after years of objection of second home ownership the original community was destroyed. Not by people who could keep the community. But buy a minority who think that putting money into property without not only make money but also spread across the country. Some of it's (historical stucture) should need to change.

It’s not a village it’s a town it literally has a secondary school, a decent sized coop and 3 churches
@@Bad_Humour innit. @DINAHOLLAND1 if it was your home TOWN you'd know that. Also, the festival's shit.
