People just expect WAAAAAY too much from animators. They don't magically conjure the silly little cartoons that we like so much, they put a hell of a lot of work into it. Many wonder why their favorite animated series takes so long to animate. Every bit of the animation is hand-drawn. imagine drawing a full-page picture. Usually takes upwards of an hour or so, more if it's really detailed and high-quality. Then multiply that by a thousand, more or less, and you have an animation. Some frames can be reused/edited, stillframes can me counted in.. But it still winds up being weeks, months, or even years of work to make a few minutes of animation.
Reasons why this video is frankly, outstanding:- -It thanks the behind the scenes part of professional UA-cam that is rarely seen at all -It shows that Tom has greatly grown an an adult and a producer, and gives us a look at his history on UA-cam -That is a genuine apology that he obviously feels very ashamed of, that took a lot of bravery to admit, -Tom's weight loss is showing really well now, keep it up man!
I feel like animators never get as much credit as the creators or the studios they work for. I love how Tom is famous for a lot of the animations he does but he still made this video to show his appreciation for all the hard work these animators do. Pat on the back for you, Tom Ska

And that instead of pretending like you're completely innocent you admit to the mistakes you've made and actually want to work forward. No one's perfect, but the people who admit their imperfections are, ironically, significantly closer.
You are one of the few youtubers I watch who is honest and upfront about your past failures and struggles. I really appreciate that you acknowledge them and have the humility to apologise for it. It doesn't reduce the impact that these mistakes have obviously had on you and the people you've worked with, but it does show that you've grown a lot in your time on youtube, and it does endear you to your audience... well at least to me. Spose I can't speak for everyone :P I really enjoy your vlogs and can't wait to see more.

God, I've been following you since i was like 12 or something. This video and seeing the dates and everything made me feel old, 20, but still. How so much has changed. Thanks for always remaining so humble. Animation was a massive part of my life in my early/mid teens and owe you and your crew, and mostly Edd for the inspiration I've had. I would not be able to draw nearly as well if it weren't for you guys. Now studying design at your old uni but yeah man thanks for continually bringing these projects to life

I think thats something to learn from this video, animation takes a hell of a long time to do even if done by professional (theres a lot of factors that go into how long it takes, i.e. quality, length of video, etc.) but i have to say, the way youtube is currently treating its users, its a little bleak. I have SO much respect for animators especially the guys who started on new grounds and i think this a very much deserved and appropriate video, good job tom on this and the weight loss...

But It's nice knowing you're coming back slowly. I think it's great you're attempting to inform your viewers with the fact you aren't an animator. Not going to lie as much as I love the animation's I have always kind of preferred the live action sketches, for some reason they feel funnier and it is like you have more fun with them.
I'm a long-time lurker of youtube comments, but reading them always ends in me cringing at the lack of basic human decency and understanding between people... So I thought why not leave something nice amongst the insanity for the creators to stumble across once every so often! Tom - I thought this was a really well articulated and thoughtful video, I enjoyed watching it and was still left feeling entertained even though the general tone was more informative / serious. I loved that you took the time to apologise to those animators and that you were mature enough to admit where you'd gone wrong, that really increased my respect for you. Always love watching your videos, keep up the good work :) And because I'm only human, the obligatory comment on appearance: your glasses seemed a little foggy and I spent a lot of time (whilst listening and enjoying the content) mentally trying to make you take them off and wipe them so they would be clear...

I'm a long-time lurker of youtube comments, but reading them always ends in me cringing at the lack of basic human decency and understanding between people... So I thought why not leave something nice amongst the insanity for the creators to stumble across once every so often!
Tom - I thought this was a really well articulated and thoughtful video, I enjoyed watching it and was still left feeling entertained even though the general tone was more informative / serious. I loved that you took the time to apologise to those animators and that you were mature enough to admit where you'd gone wrong, that really increased my respect for you. Always love watching your videos, keep up the good work :)
And because I'm only human, the obligatory comment on appearance: your glasses seemed a little foggy and I spent a lot of time (whilst listening and enjoying the content) mentally trying to make you take them off and wipe them so they would be clear...

Thank you for mentioning the animators, there are so many youtubers out there that don't give credit even when the animators are working just as hard as they are. Also, I'm not sure whether you'd prefer is people just shut up about this, but you've lost a lot of weight, so keep doing whatever you're doing!
