Kinda wish they made a updated version of the game (with the battle network style) with more navis for maybe mobile phone. The game feels like a pet caring game on mobile phones and it can have some online pvp battle and maybe a card pack like mechanic with packs of battlechip (but you can find them in the overworld and in battles as well). Also can we just say Junkman.exe in this game is precious and adorable and deserves to be protected.

Thanks for the mention bro. Another thing I'd like to add to the nerfed bosses is that Thunderman's cloud no longer spams thunderbolts like in BN4. Honestly I love this game, and it's a pretty good base for ROM hacks to be made on top of, the lack of story helps it as it can focus purely on gameplay, the amount of bosses is the most in the series with a varied selection of some of the best, and the most playable Navis of all games. I wish for a ROM hack that balances the gameplay for a competitive gameplay with updated Navis and mechanics like giving Navis their soul abilities like step sword Protoman or shuffle Searchman, and Megaman having access to his BN4 souls, making him the most versatile navi, but the least focused on specific battle style due to soul time limit and lack of full synchro with it. Heck, judging by how crazy pokemon ROM hacks have become, addition of more Navis, bosses, viruses and chips doesn't seem out of the realms of possibility, and could make for the definitive BN gameplay experience. Perhaps once I'm done with my pokemon ROM hacking, I'll start researching this game.
Man I've been on a BN binge lately. If I can get some other games finished up I plan on playing through all the BN and Starforce games again. I'll give this a whirl too though I do want to try out the original game style first.
I love this patch! And other netnavis can use dark chips unlike 5 liberation missions. But no style change or soul unison for Megaman exe is a little jarring but understandable
I really have to give this a try sometime soon. I've been replaying the whole series for the past few years (i've probably played through BN3, 5, & 6 more than I did when I was a kid lol) and while that hasn't gotten boring I have been wanting something new.
This game is tight, brief but very fun. Without the Real BN style patch it reminds me more of a virtual pet-type game instead of an rpg (Which I love).
Nice review! ive played it on and off for a while, and more or less agree with the strengths and criticisms of the game. though to expand on the navicust point, it really starts to feel lacking after a while, when it feels like you cant power up your charge shots, and i feel some navis feel like they need more tweaking to get balanced (eg roll' charge shot arrow does next to nothing in the lategame and fires very slowly). This is the closest we're gonna get to a new BN experience for a while unless they eventually make a BN7 if they ever make new games in the series again.
Adding on to the whole SearchMan and BurnerMan localisation thing, I noticed that the english names seem to follow the naming convention for files in DOS. DOS files have a maximum of 8 characters for the file name, and 3 for the extention. So a file named "MegaMan.EXE" would be a valid file, but "SearchMan.EXE" and "BurnerMan.EXE" wouldn't, due to their names being too big.
Recently a new pvp pach for this game was reléase, updating mechanics, adding new stuff and reworking some things, is pretty good, now Windman is really strong and avery body want him to be nerf lol
Just curious but I have the most recent patch of this game, while watching I noticed you were able to pull off the DarkNeo PA, but I'm not able to do that because of Dark Line and Bug Chain not being * codes. How were you able to pull it off? Was the PA assigned to different chips?
The chips are the same. I think just for the sake of the video, I used the "Have All Chips" gameshark code, and used it as a visual aid. I thought you could get them legitimately as well, though. Maybe in a chip trader, or mystery data somewhere?
Is it possible to have this patch and the English one? Whenever I try to have them both it just ends up being Japanese. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Can you confirm that you are able to unlock Bass in the reproduction cart game boy advance version without cheating or the gate? Definitely the reason to pick it up, particularly with 4.5 not being in the upcoming legacy collection
I can confirm this. You have to defeat Bass Omega in the Under Tournament, which is accessible after beating the Official Tournament with the first 13 Navis: Mega Man, and the 12 Double Soul Navis from BN4.
@@FlashingBladesProductions Thanks a lot! I could see the 13 as well as the other 12 navis in an image from the seller, and they couldnt confirm Bass as playable, so I was crossing my fingers. A worthy reward for playing through all of them no doubt. In the cartridge edition as a final question are you able to get navi chips? Such as the Bass Gospel chip for example or one of protomans?

It's more likely that we'd see that in a full fan game than a ROM hack, simply because, even though Battle Network ROM hacking has come a long way, it IS still kind of limited compared to some other modding community, and due to most characters not having "complete" animation sprite sheets (example, Blastman doesn't have a Buster or Sword slash animation), some new frames would need to be made and incorporated, on top of reprogramming the game itself to accomodate the new character.
Why do you keep calling the emotion states by the wrong names? Or are they the original Japanese translated to English? Because in the American releases, they're not called "anger," "worried," and "evil." They're "fury," "anxious," and "dark."
These are how the English instruction manual for Battle Network 4 labeled them. "Angry", "Worried", and "Evil". This is consistent across the North American and European manuals.
This is the definitive way of playing 4.5 No nonsense gimmick of auto-playable navis. Edit: By the way, can anyone tell me how can i unlock every navi?, i mean, a link for a guide would be amazing, such as how to unlock shadowman and bass.
I don't think there are any comprehensive guides on youtube, but the long and short of it is you need to complete the Official Tournament (3rd major "story" tournament) with every Navi you have. This continues unlocking Navis until you've completed it with the entire first 2 rows. At that point, the final row is unlocked all at once (including Shadowman) except for Bass, who is unlocked by completing the Undernet Tournament with any Navi.
@@Raylightsen No worries, it is a MASSIVELY tedious pain in the ass. There are special “starter files” easy enough to find online which start you off with every Navi though, so you can just play through with your favorites right out of the gate :)
