  • ah yes welcome to my domain of infinite thread and yarn, what brings you to these parts of town yeehaw. perhaps it is the skirt in question however due to it being a wrap skirt it can double as a tortilla for a giant burrito. you may think the very thought is Ludacris but have we ever heard a song from that man lately? my favorite thus far is my chick bad my chick hood my chick does stuff that your chick wish she could, that and his chefs kiss of a verse on the baby soundtrack with justin bieber. speaking of babies, i will indeed sleep like one after finally birthing out a new video. that is my biweekly high you see, and quite frankly so is thrifting. ah yes thrifting, i went recently got a TON of stuff that may be my next video actually - wink wink - anyways if you've reached this far in my bafoonery pls comment - pineapple - yea know, everybodies crush's name in middle school buahaha alright i shall go now toodaloo see you soooon

    I love this! I feel like because its wrapped and held together by the buttons, its a little easier for a beginner to make since there's no need to sew in a zipper or anything like that. And like you said, the waist becomes adjustable so even if your weight fluctuates, you can easily make the skirt fit by adding/removing buttons as needed.

    I looooove your tutorial. So easy to understand and step-by-step for me, as I am the worst with sewing. Having just acquired a sewing machine, I am excited to make a wrap skirt for this Christmas, to wear with my black long sleeve sweater top. Thank you so much. ❤❤

    I've been wanting a similar skirt for the past five years now and I've never been able to find one in my side or in a good enough quality. I finally got frustrated enough tonight to start looking up tutorials and yours was the first who really made me feel like I could do this thing. I'm going out later this morning and going to try this with some affordable enough material for me and see how it goes!
    I hope you continue to make more videos and that you make more beginner-friendly tutorials.

    Edit: I made this! Yay! I was using an old white sheet and the fabric is too thin, my stitching is a mess, but by jove it's wearable. I used the entire length of the bed sheet for my bigger bod, maybe 250cm? Or 3xish my waist so that I would have plenty to wrap and I did end up with about a 3rd more skirt than I needed. Went for 50cm for high waist and knee length. Super handy to find your video as I had no idea how I was going to make poppers work and this was so easy. (compared to some, still took long enough for a beginner!)

I mean, full skirt and the two pieces (waist band + pleated part= Full skirt) I really want to try this but I'm so confused right now hahaha I want a mini skirt, not a long skirt 😜 that's why I'm asking you, I need to know for make this in proportion of my height (I'm 1.49 tall) and also my tiny hip, plusss I don't wanna waste much fabric

    I need to post an update for those who might be trying to make this. Maybe it's my own inexperience, but I think *the way this skirt is made is not actually suitable for a woman's body*. I have NO idea how it actually fits Wendy. I went through the process of making this and it took me HOURS, partially because I'm a noob but also because it's just a lot of pinning and the steps are really tedious.
    So I finally get the skirt mostly finished to try it on only to realize IT DOES NOT FIT MY WAIST. But this is a wrap skirt, right? How can it not fit??? No matter how tight I pull this thing, there is ALWAYS a big gap. If you watch other skirt making videos, they always do some math using Pi and cut the skirt waist in a semi circle from the corner of a piece of fabric. I assume this is what makes it lay flush with your waist if you measure right. Obviously this video doesn't do that, and so the skirt is NOT likely to fit your waist appropriately.
    I got the skirt to work for me by being creative and also I HAVE to wear a decorative pin with it in order to gather up the loose waist and make it fit me. This camouflages the fact that it doesn't fit and just looks like decoration.
    My point here is, you might want to THINK TWICE BEFORE MAKING THIS because it's likely not going to fit properly in the waist and may end up being a waste of your precious time.

    • @wendyherrera
      @wendyherrera  2 роки тому +1

      Hello i'm so sorry the skirt didn't work out, i feel really bad!! I want to help, by any chance did you use stretchy fabric? and when you added the buttons did you sew the buttons in a straight row? ( if that makes sense i doubt i worded it correctly) please feel free to DM me photos of the skirt at my instagram as well it would help alot. i'm very sorry again i really do want to be helpful

    • @kibummmm
      @kibummmm 2 роки тому

      @@wendyherrera the fabric was a bit stretchy. I'm not sure where I went wrong, if it's just a matter of different body types? But when I tried it on before adding any closings, it just wouldn't sit flush against my waist.

    • @wendyherrera
      @wendyherrera  2 роки тому

      @@kibummmm if the fabric is stretchy then thats good (mine was pretty stretchy itself so that might of helped me with the waist part of the tutorial), as long as its not on the stiffer side (like pure cotton and such) then i think the buttons is what can help solve this. when i tried on the skirt without any closings it also didn't sit perfectly on my waist, however when i added the buttons wherever i felt would help the waist band lay fitted onto my waist, thats when it all came together. However different body types can certainly play into this but hopefully sharing my experience with creating the skirt was a bit helpful. also at 5:50 and forward in the video the band wraps diagonally onto my waist (if that makes sense haha) bc i found that helped me best with my body type. so the top of the band was stretched farther out into my waist than the bottom of the band, by any chance when you completed your skirt was the band able to do that as well? also please let me know if there's anything I can do for you!

    • @kibummmm
      @kibummmm 2 роки тому

      @@wendyherrera So I actually had to pull the waistband so that it made a V shape in the front, otherwise it wouldn't even come close to fitting! This made the skirt a bit asymmetirical. Not the exact look I was going for, but it was whatever. I couldn't find the type of snaps you used, so I was originally going to use buttons. But because I had to pull the skirt into that V formation, the fabric would stick up and I needed a way to make it flat. So I put grommets into it and strung shoelace through it. This kept the flap down and held the skirt together. It's a little harder to get on and off than if I had used buttons, but it works. In the end, I did manage to make it a relatively cute skirt, but it definitely doesn't look like yours and I still have to wear a decorative pin with it to make it fit my waist, even after pulling it into a V. Thanks for being so helpful! I never meant to shade you with my original comment, I just didn't want others to have the same experience as me because it for real took me hours to make this and having it not fit was so frustrating. Like, I finally sew the waistband on then go try it in the mirror and no matter what I did the band just wouldn't sit flush! I've never made a skirt before, and I definitely felt like this one might have been a bit over my head xDD. Pinning and sewing all the pleats took forever! Like damn, I should have started with a simple skater skirt xD

    • @wendyherrera
      @wendyherrera  2 роки тому +1

      @@kibummmm I apologize again I wish i could of done more to help with the skirt-making process, but the fact that that was the first skirt you created is honestly impressive haha its definitely not the most simpler skirts to make out there that's why you have all my respect on tackling this project!! in real time the skirt probably took me about 5 hours (with a million breaks inbetween) so i feel the pain and I can't imagine how tedious it must of been. i'm honestly very sorry it didn't fit well and your comment was perfectly fine its always good to have all kinds of feedback. thank you again for giving my skirt a try I wish it would of more and I'm sure your final project looked really cute regardless hehe you are very creative in solving the flaws of the skirt too and I wish you nothing but perfection for the rest of your sewing projects!!😎💖
