Goldberg was green and it's WCW and Bischoff who were in charge of pushing him so quickly. Goldberg’s run is underrated today, as is Goldberg as a wrestlers.
I’m 48 and have watched properly since 90.
Goldberg was a massive deal and he had some fantastic matches. Even going back now and watching him vs Bam Bam, Raven, Hall, Hennig, Sid, Steiner and many more.
The newer fans who haven’t watched everything, who go on the botch against Meng and Jimmy Hart and listen to Bret don’t really understand.
The Meng match was in his first few months and having less than 50 matches.
I’ve watched MMA and I’m yet to see a concussion that KO somebody, Bret went on to the match with concussion symptoms. Sure it was a hard kick but it wasn’t just the kick that ended Bret’s career. There have been WAY harder kicks in MMA and punches in boxing. I love Bret but I think he’s wrong.
I’ve met Bill 5 times over the years and every time he’s class.
His WCW run was fantastic, his 03 WWF run was good, I actually loved his match bs Lesnar at Mania. His last run was entertaining as well, it did what it had to. It didn’t hold up technically to some of the other matches but it drew viewers and put asses in seats (as Americans say), and that’s what it it’s all about. A great worker, a great pro wrestlers brings money in.
I hate these days that everyone’s “underrated”, Bill is one of the few who is actually underrated, especially by those who weren’t watching in the late 90’s.

If you watch this interview and can't be humble enough. To see all the bullshit chatter online about him. Is exactly that bull shit. Then that says more about you as a person human being. Professional Wrestling fans. Well alot of fans of any genre no matter what that may be I should say. Are the most childish, entitled, nuave, manipulated, right over their heads kinda people you'll ever come across. I'll give you an example. For years all people cried about was "Goldberg don't put no one over". He literally does it for Brock Lesnar,Braun Strowman,Bobby Lashley, and The Undertaker. Now their on "Goldberg is to dangerous" schtick. I love Bret The Hitman Hart. But,he's got all these people on a leese it feels like.lol Saying this I'm not talking shit about Bret. I'm only talking about the people that eat it up. And,I understand Bret's perspective. Bret's been through a crazy life in professional wrestling. From The Montreal Screw Job,Owen dying,Davie Boy Smith passes away young, on top of the fact he didn't enjoy his experience in WCW. I get it trust me on that. But you gotta understand accidents do happen. Some of your favorite pro wrestlers ever have accidentally hurt a fellow wrestler. If you didnt know Sting injuries Rick Rude in Japan, Stone Cold injuries someone in Japan as well. Dilo Brown and the Darren Droz situation. Literally none of the receiving end individuals ever said a peep of negativity about what happened. Like I said I'm not talking shit on Bret. I'm just trying to get you to see perspective here. Rest in Peace Owen Hart. But we know what happened to Stone Cold. Have you ever heard Steve say anything about it negatively. I'm talking before Owens accident? Online they love to say Bill hurt Taker Bill Hurt Haku/Meng in WCW. Ever heard eitherone of these great people say anything? I've got a ton more in my back pocket to make them look stupid. Just want anybody that feels this way and are so hung up on it. Can't let it go to think

Bret may have continued wrestling, but, I doubt he'd have still be wrestling today. Age and body wear are still factors in 2024 vs 1999.
Plus, regardless of Harts health, in 2001 WWF buys WCW. And just like Sting, I doubt we'd see Hart go to WWF. Unlike Sting, I don't see Hart joining TNA. All the adult entertainment stuff he hated about 1997-2002 WWF that Hart hated was being taken to new levels of cringe in TNA because it's head writer was Russo without any filter.
It's possible he goes to Japan for a few years.
Maybe a stint in a brand new ROH. But Hart would likely see that as a huge demotion.
More likely than not, I see him retiring in 2002 when WWF buys WCW. Although, I wouldn't rule out a few appearances or short runs later on down the line. Imagine if his 2010 "run" with WWE could have been with him healthy as he could have been for that age. I mean, Shawn Micheals was still there, and nearing the end of his run, but they could have absolutely worked an angle there. Instead they had to settle for a wrestlemania match where Bret couldn't take any offense at all, because of a loyds of london insurance issue. And because of health issues. So that match with Vince SUCKED. Shouldn't have even been pitched.
But yeah, I see him fully done, fully retired by 2015 at the latest. Mostly retired around 2002. Certainly not wrestling today.
