Hi, I think the engine is actually OK for normal driving, getting to 60mph isn't fast but it's not slow and even with a full car, the engine performs well and doesnt struggle. I also really like the DSG gearbox, it shifts quickly and smoothly. The engines have a lot of capacity for tuning, stage 1 remap can get up to 245bhp and roughly 470Nm. The s-line ride is a little firm but certainly not uncomfortable! It makes the driving experience a little more fun. The s-line interior is very nice, the seats are comfortable and the perforated leather on the steering wheel and automatic gear selector feels great. Overall if you are interested in an A4/A5 then I recommend scheduling a test drive. ✌️
Great review, cheers. I'm considering the same model but the 2023 edition. Coming from an A6 45 quattro tfsi so wondering how it compares in terms of engine performance...
Thanks Doug! Not driven the 45 tfsi Quattro but it will definitely be a bit of a step down in performance but I think you'll only notice it more at higher speeds.
cla competes with a3 s3 rs3. This car is bigger than a bmw 4 series and c300, c43, c63 class benz... competes directly with the 4 series bmw and the cls benz
Hi Adam, I've just double checked and it is a 2 litre 4 cylinder as I've said. 1984cm3 to be exact. Having said that, as much as most sources say it's 2L, there are a few stating it's a 1.4L. I've checked the report on this exact car and it's 2L.
@@car_babble My apologies, I drive an A3 Saloon 35tfsi which is the 1.5. I assumed all 35 tfsi were the 1.5. Mines a 21 plate and I’ve just googled it and from 2021 onwards the 35tfsi are 1.5. Previous were 2 litre. I enjoyed youre video. I’d love those 20 inch wheels on my A3.
Couple of things I will add from a personal point of view as I have a 2 door A5 sline and prefer the non flat steering wheel. The flat bottom one looks nicer but to use I I'm not a fan as my wife has a TT with a flat bottom and to drive with it's not for me. The other main pain in the ass again it looks good but the frameless doors in the winter! Especially with the heavy frost we have had this year some morning it took me a good 20-30mins to get the doors to open and then also close again. Definitely not good for our cold Scottish climate lol. Now in march so hopefully that's the frost gone till next winter again 😅 agree with the keyless entry my BMW 435d had it and even my DS4 had keyless entry lol quite poor from Audi there. And unfortunately premium cars seem to be falling further down the reliability list. Volkswagen/Audi where once near the top for build quality and reliable but not so much now.
I am considering buying one but all the reviews and owner reviews talk about the ride being really bad on the sline.. and there's nothing but slines available on the market
Certainly the Black edition on 20in rims is firm but I've had Audi's that were worse. The S line is 19s so I think probably ok but if you drive around a city a lot then it might be quite bumpy.
@@car_babble yep I live in a city area where roads can be abysmal to put it lightly. Appreciate the response mate. Everything else on the car looks spot on. Going to rest drive one over the weekend and make a call
Great and honest review I bought one the other day week, I agree totally with you !! Overall pretty happy with it…
Always nice to hear people agree with my assessments. Thanks for the comment and many happy miles of motoring 😎

Thanks for the comment. Generally agree with what you say. Are you sure this 1.5l can get mapped as far as 470NM!? Mental if so.
@@car_babble Hi, I have the A4 35TFSI which is a 2.0L Petrol MHEV. Stock is 150bhp and 270Nm. ✌️
Thought about one of these for a while now. Pretty sexy car. Had to settle for Golf Variant 1.4 Tsi....
Thanks Alfie. The 1.4 tsi is still a punchy wee engine. Had it in a SEAT Ibiza once and it was a rocket!
1st thing I've done with mine is chip it. Now it has 250 hp and 400Nm. Drives like a dream especially when I need to overtake a 4 series 😂
Awesome! That'll fairly transform it!
How much did u pay?
Extra 100bhp? Wow

@@car_babble cheers, not really a high speed driver so hopefully still decent :)
Vw Aerton is a good competition tbh. But i love the look of this a5👌
This is true. Slightly bigger car but similar body.
I would say the Mercedes CLA is the direct competitor
Close but not technically a coupé

If it’s the 35tfsi it’s not a 2 litre it’s a 1.5

@@adamhughes7523 no worries Adam appreciate you commenting!
@@adamhughes7523that still only applies to the A3, the A4 and a5 have different output 2.0 engines for 35, 40 and 45 tfsi

Thanks for the comment Stewart. That's a really interesting point about the frameless windows. Put me right off having a coup now!

You from Aberdeen?
Yes how did you guess? ☺️
@@car_babble No mistaking the Aberdeen twang lol, im portlethen
That's a really nice looking car. You did look pretty cramped when you were sitting in the front there. Maybe just the camera angle
Thanks Dave. Interesting you thought that as I didn't feel that cramped but then again, I'm needing to lose a few pounds! 🤣
I wish you could review my A3 1.8 TFSI Quattro (fully speced). You do a better job than I would haha 😂
Would love to! Where are you based?
Stage 1 this undertuned engine and you will get 240bhp🙃
