I am going to buy A5 Sportback later this year and I like to watch some YT videos about this car from time to time. I have to say your video is the one I like the most - you focus on such important details (from an owner point of view) and in the same time you have an ability to talk about those things in easy to follow and kind of entertaining way :) I am really glad YT recommended me your video at some point.
Thanks for a spot on review. Picking mine up in a few days. Most reviews centre on the higher powered models but loads of people will get the 40 or 35. The 35 looks perfect for me. I don't want to be throwing shedloads of money in the fuel tank every week and to my insurance. Your review makes it look like a good halfway house of economy and around-town performance. Perfect engine for the boy racers who've grown up a bit.
@marco7838 I don't think they depreciate as fast as some. The replacement Audi A5 is due out by the end of the year, I think. Even so, mine looks so drop dead gorgeous that I didn't care (not like me at all as I'm usually always considering everything when I buy a car). Everyone who's seen it says the same thing; it's a "sexy" car. I'm happy with that, and not too worried about the depreciation as someone down the line will always fall in love with it enough to want to buy it! 🤣
@marco7838 it's completely down to personal choice. The 35 is slower, more economical, and cheaper to insure. I wanted economical motoring, so it was fine for me, and it can shift enough for me when I put my foot down. However, we'd all like something a bit faster, wouldn't we!? I'm very happy with my 35 diesel and so is my wallet. Still feel very special every time I drive it. You'll love whichever one you go for.
A5 35TDi owner here... Only gripe with them, is if their not specced with the extended fuel tank, tank is like 35ltr. Quite the shock when i filled up the car first time and it was only £55
Nice video! I think I’d have this over an S5/RS5, the performance is good in those cars, but in the UK there are too many cameras. Also most of the time your stuck in traffic so I’d feel guilty for wasting fuel when it’s not worth it
Thanks for reviewing this car. I have the same model in black and I musy say it does a strong torque. I really don't like the stop start so I turn it off. I find the fuel range rather odd how ot fals quickly ans then stabalize. I hope they can fix that for mote realistic numbers. Whay Tyre pressure do you use? I have mine on 36psi front and 34 psi back. In my morning journey 10 miles at an average speed lf 30mph I get about 55mpg. I must say, I am impressed how economic your car even whem flooring it. Do you think mine meeds some motorway runs?
Driven one of these today as a hire car . High 60's MPG. My daily drive is a C8 RS6, on a good day I might get 50% of this MPG. I wish I was not such a car nut, as this really does tick all the boxes. Not once did I think this was "slow". Mark
Hi, I will respond since this channel doesn’t engage at all. I have the 35tdi and I have driven the 40tdi. Basically the 35tdi feels quicker than the 40tdi and I think it’s due to the lack of the 4 wheel drive system.
@@krzysztofmarciniak2527 I would say nothing spectacular, if not the 35 felt quicker due to less weight. I upgraded to the 40tfsi and have been driving for 2 weeks now! Absolute joy and a completely different drive form the 35tdi. Smoothers, better weight distribution, planted and fast. The 40tfsi is definitely a better version of my old 35tdi. Fuel consumption is definitely 10/13 mpg less on regular journey to work averaging 30mph.
2 months ago I had a choice and rather than going for petrol 40tfsi I went for 35tdi 2020 after lift version of a5. I did not even bother to test drive 40tfsi which I now regret Big time !!! - will have to keep it now for circa 15 months and will go for a swap - that’s for sure.
@@krzysztofmarciniak2527 I kept my 35tdi 22 plate for about 16 months and then decided to go and test the 40tdi and 40tfsi. I highly recommend adding the technology pack. I might actually drop a quick video about car
Have you driven the pre-facelift (2017-19) 40TDI, and if so how does it compare to this? The pre-facelifts are cheaper to buy and will escape the higher VED tax if over 5 years old, so considering this.
i actually prefer the pre-facelift as you get a scroll wheel to control the infotainment with. To drive they're identical as far as i can tell. The 40tdi is obviously more powerful than this 35tdi as well.
Could you do a review on the Volkswagen arteon lm interested in getting on but there’s not really any good reviews anywhere and yours are great so I thought I would ask😂
The 4 door version never did it for me but the normal couple is sexy. I've only driven the 1.8 turbo 190bhp petrol. It was really smooth and plenty of power
Did you even watch the video? Modern TDI’s have always had a good in gear shove and torque to get you up to speed. So it’s no rocket but 8 seconds is far from pedestrian off the line and just how many zero to 60 launches do you do a day? I’m guessing about non but I bet you this would be on you from 30-70 if you were in let’s say a Golf GTI. Not everyone needs 400 bhp and 60 in 3.5 seconds but require a smooth and well made mile muncher that can get past traffic if required, which this one seems to do adequately. This is from a non diesel owner too so totally unbiased but someone who’s had fast and lower power cars and in day to day real world driving 170 bhp and 250 bhp is hundredths of a second apart.
@@Buck3366nice to see an unbiased comment coming for a petrol driver. Level headed my friend 💪 I drive this car and seriously it a daily commuter that does about most things right. I can confidently say that form stand still at a traffic light this car a strong get up and go with the torque.

There is no person on this planet that decides between an entry level fwd diesel a5 and the top petrol versions.
@Phil_3491 lol, did you not see my message🙃
Thanks for the video, it makes me excited to collect my car!!
More 140i videos!
ive not seen a audi a5 35TDI with the flat steering wheel, only on the 40TDI. gonna wait till i find one with this steering wheel in the video
Flat?
Ive been looking myself, hard to find
