Great video, thoroughly enjoyed. We have gone queen right hives coming out of winter. Show start as weather has been diabolical in Wales. All on a double brood, that's a first for us so hopefully this year will be a success

I always keep the comb in its original orientation and they do much better with using it. Thanks!

Good info. I was more focused on getting as much comb to fit than keeping the orientation correct. I'm going to keep that in mind for next time.

@@FreeRangeArtFarm They will probably raise the brood but the angle of the cells is not correct so they won’t store anything in it. That’s what I’ve noticed if I put it in wrong. Thanks Thomas!

What are your thoughts about that comb in the future? Do you think the girls will tear it down and adjust the angle or will it be useless comb? I'm thinking they will fix it. It will be interesting to see how they handle it moving forward.

@@FreeRangeArtFarm Put it in upright the first time. Problem with newly drawn comb is that it tends to bee too soft for framing. It even looked like you had some queen cups started on one piece. Keep us posted as to what happens.

Well done. great job managing the swarms and explaining what you were doing! Only thing I might suggest is to orient the comb in the same direction it came out of the trap. Hopefully the first one ends up with a queen. That second one I think is going to explode!!!

Great feedback. That makes complete sense to keep the comb in the same orientation.

I've heard those swarms are gut full wax drawing machines. Great depiction Thomas, thank you.

It's best to shake off the frames into your box to remove all the bees before removing the comb, you took a chance of killing bees and most important your queen. Hope this helps .
