I am not sure if this is helpful, but I thought you might benefit from my notes... great job on the video. Well done.
Also, I think the formula works like this. Total of 5 steps. Every step should reduce by 1/2 a point (in general).
    Fading Down
    1) #2 Guard (Purple) and Open Blade OR 2 + ½ = 2 ½
    2) #2 Guard (Purple) and Closed Blade OR 2 + 0 = 2
    3) #1 Guard (Brown) and ½ Open Blade OR 1 + ½ = 1 ½
    4) #1 Guard (Brown) and ¼ Open Blade OR 1 + ¼ = 1 ¼
    5) #1 Guard (Brown) and Closed Blade OR 1 + 0 = 1
Fading Up - all the steps above in the reverse order.
    Meeting in the Middle
    1) Blending it with #3 used at the top…
    2) #2 Guard (Purple) and ½ Open Blade OR 2 + ½ = 2 ½
    3) #2 Guard (Purple) and Closed Blade OR 2 + 0 = 2
    4) #1 Guard (Brown) and Closed Blade at the bottom OR 1 + 0 = 1
    5) #1 Guard (Brown) and ¼ Open Blade fading up OR 1 + ¼ = 1 ¼
    6) #1 Guard (Brown) and ½ Open Blade OR 1 + ½ = 1 ½
    Back Neckline Tapering
    1) ½ Open Blade (No Guards) - start at the very bottom
    2) ¼ Open Blade
    3) 3/8 Slightly Closed Blade
    4) 0 or completely closed
    5) 1/8 or slightly open to tie it all together
The Blend for Tapering (need special guard called the Half Guard (White)). Combined with the open blade will be represented as #1 Guard and with closed blade will be represented as ½. Half way open with be represented as ¾
    1) All the way open or ½ + ½ = 1
    2) ½ + ¼ = ¾
    3) ½ + 0 = ½
    Clean.

Very detail, best tutorial about fading in youtube. Thanks a lot.
I watched lots of tutorials online about how to fade,. And yes, they all showed how to fade but they don’t really tell in detail what, when and how i need to open or closed blades and guards. And they do so fast without pointing out the guards or blades. They made the tutorials as if i already know all the techniques and major terms about haircut.

Spent 4 hours at it. No 8 all over - impossible to go wrong with that. Then fade a little with No 7 and 6. First time doing it and it's passable. I did better than the barber with my hair whorl - I now suspect they deliberately f* that up for more frequent business. Can't tidy the back lower hair line unless I mount an endoscope camera on the clipper, but won't bother. From now on, I won't go to the barbers unless on special occasions. My own cut is good enough for casual.

@tyrone No. Clippers that come with (00000-000) are not meant to be used with guards.
Those clippers are mostly used for balding or removing the first skin fade line.
I am not a barber. But based on the knowledge that I know.

I enjoy your positive attitude and outlook on the future. I'm just passing through. I'm twice your age and all I need to say is "stay away from people who do drugs and drink alcohol." People can bring you down and hinder your bright future. Do Not get in the car with someone who is up to no good. They could have drugs or a weapon on them and your life could be taken away within a second and careless act. I wasted most of half my life. Hang with positive, uplifting people. This is from my heart. Keep up the hard work and have fun. Stay healthy and eat healthy. You'll marry the love of your life and have beautiful children. Beans and rice is all a man needs to be happy with a family and a place to call home. One love youngster.

Nice vid bud! But why did you edge up the beard at the jaw line? It looks like a double chain, especially on chubby men like this dude

I respect your skills on haircuts and the video was cool but you destroyed his beard; the neck line was way too high. Should stop slightly above adams apple

    • @JSauer-tz4xq
      @JSauer-tz4xq 6 років тому +2

Well, I would've suggested that if the client had it a bit closer to his Adams apple or a couple inches below the jawline, then it would look more nicely done & when you talk it won't look like it is coming up on the sides as much, in sense it won't look like a double chin.

Exactly what i thought when he went high on that beard. that beard slimmed that guys neck and now its all lined . always line the top leave some on the neck.

Perfect! Finally a video with precise information and no useless chatter. Especially the explanation regarding clipper sizes is something I missed in other videos. I`m in Switzerland, so just the numbers of clippers doesn`t reallly help (unless they`re the same all over the world, which I wouldn`t know). Thanks a lot. Thumb up and subscribed =O))

I had to stop the video to give you props I have watched dozens of videos in the past couple weeks And even though most of the barbers use the same technique they do not break down What the hell they're talking about their assume that you're already a barber. The simplistic way that you broke it down Gave me more knowledge in the 1st 4 minutes then all those other videos put together. Thank you very much
