As somebody who grew up around the area where Jodie disappeared, I can say that most locals believe her disappearance was caused by local organized crime and the police force wanting her gone. The story she was working on was a tell all and at the time, the area was still rural enough that police could do this kind of thing. It's commonly believed that she's buried under a machine shed in the backyard of the at-the-time sheriff's house, but he's refused to let anyone search for years.

That's what I remember about Jodie's case. Also, I had seen back in January 2020 a Find Jodie billboard was spray painted with the name "FRANK STEARNS" and "machine shed" . Stearns was a long-time Mason City police investigator who worked on the Huisentruit case. It was very odd. And yes I do believe it was the case she was working on that got her silenced by organized crime and the corrupt police.

For the frozen head story - it's possible that he did something to someone's child or family member (that he was never charged with) and they decided to take justice into their own hands. I think this makes more sense than someone just looking up his name and confusing him for another person; it would better explain the severity of what was done to him and what was written on him.

Regarding the last case: there has been more than one instance of persons going missing in the woods remains being found years after the initial search less than a mile from the starting point of that initial search. It's amazingly easy to miss a body in the woods, especially heavily forested and remote areas where the underbrush obscures large amounts of the ground from view. It would not be surprising for the search teams to have missed something, and it's far more likely that's the case than a killer carrying her body 100km.

I feel so bad for the families of missing people that fall victim to scammers. A true psychic - if such a person existed - would NOT flaunt their ability. They would not contact the family, they would contact the police directly and NOT ask for any payment .

    • @falconinthedive

It's been unsolved for 25 years and I wonder if we will ever see it resolved (even though they know the DNA profile of her killer). The case is unfortunately not very well known, not even in Germany. But it is so chilling. She was killed and the murderer kept her head and it has never been found. After discarding her body, he went back to her apartment and stayed and went multiple times. He also took some personal belongings of her with him. I really really hope one day this will get solved, it is far too chilling.

I literally just picked this video to play in the background while I was doing school work. My eyes popped out when the story took place so god damn close to where I live.We think disturbing stories like this usually happen in a faraway place from where we live, but disturbing stories are everywhere maybe there’s even one in the house you live right now. Now when I go to sleep I know that abductions, butchering, and other demented shit happened like a mile away from me.

Frozen head- as someone who worked with victims of abuse for over 7 years, I can tell you it's rare for a person to be convicted of the most appropriate charge for their crime. Often times if they are convicted, its plead down to something lesser. Based on my experience, I would put money on the fact that he more likely than not committed a more heinous crime than "malicious punishment of a child".

It's crazy that no one saw Jodi being abducted. A news station seems like it would be a busy place.
    Her case is Interesting.
I believe she was going to do a story someone didn't want anyone to hear.

Ok, so I do not want to speak ill of the dead, this is only speculation. With the information from the case given, I feel he was given what is called a "Plead Down" you Plead guilty to lesser charges than the one actually committed. That being said again I am speculating, but would make sense if he did something more than corporal punishment, that in which a small town would know of and not forget easily. Again this is just a theory but even if you were to look up his record it would only say to what he was charged with not necessarily the original act which he was arrested for.

The case of Jodi is haunting, you just know, she either suffered great,y and was terrifyied before she was either killed soon after her abduction …hoping she is not still hidden away in someone’s basement!
Interesting that you brought up the Hinton case! Here in AB! We rarely hear true crimes being brought up in our area, but there have been some awful murders around here, that should be looked at and brought up on these true crime channels.

Excellent video as always! Want to make a recomendation for a future video topic. Here in Brazil (my home country) there is a mistery that haunts us to this day and its known as the Lead Masks Case. You should definately check that out!
