one piece has my favorite power system since i love the unique abilities and the aspect of what to do if you can't swim as a pirate (also because law and kid have the most fitting powers and it's awesome), but media like the world ends with you, dragon quest 11 and many others also have really cool and unique power systems :D
My power system uses desires. Its a kind of wish magic that lets you get one ability out of a mundane wish you make as a kid. Eg: a character has the ability to summon chairs at will
Makes a suit of "armour" out of metal folding chairs. Makes the sky rain chairs. Creates a jail cell out of interlocking chairs that were spawned together.

The more virtuous your life is, the higher-grade that coin would be worth, going from bone (evil person) to astronite (a coin that looks like a cosmos). However, no one on earth knows how to artificially increase the value of their soul. When you die, however, your coin retains its value and has your birth and death date. If this would be the case, then murder would be seen as an extremely sought-after vice. A Bone-Grade Assassin would have no qualms hunting upright people and burying children to sell their SCs to the highest bidder. Astronite Coins would basically be THE GOLDEN TICKET for anyone on Earth. You would be the embodiment of perfection, with all of society bending to follow in your footsteps. The entire court system would be upended, since you could accidentally kill a person with a higher-graded Soul Coin and it would exonerate them. People could steal SCs, committing crimes and using the, "purer grade," SCs to allay suspicion. The entire human race would become a moralistic meritocracy, where only Gold+ Grades would be allowed for certain positions, with others of lower grades abusing their morality for their ends.
My magic system is music as characters believe that music can bring people together whether it be competitive wise or emotional wise. However music has a toll on those who listen to it for too long they'll be in rage and taken over by the music.
i can imagine a character who uses an electric guitar to create thunder storms by shredding and letting out a catchy riff that could charge up attacks while also having delayed actions or an echo that creates a long range but nullified or amplified version of the attack
My power system is inspired by Vizards in Bleach. There are people who have the ability to summon masks. While wearing a mask, you are granted that mask’s special skill set. You can also fuse with the mask and transform into a sort of demon to amplify the powers. The appearance of the mask gives you a good idea of what its skill set is. The police force uses masks given to them by angels, while shady characters go around and hand out demon masks to criminals and lowlifes to create chaos. The main character is one of these lowlifes that gets a demon mask, but he decides to use it to be a vigilante. So, he tries to take out other demon mask users while avoiding being arrested by the police force. One last important difference between the Angel masks and demon masks is that the demon mask will take over your body once you fuse with it and transform. So, this is a power that the main character has to slowly learnt to control or risk becoming a full blown demon and attacking his loved ones.
@@marknoel3967 If a mask becomes cracked or chipped, it will heal itself over time. If the mask breaks, it loses all its power and can’t be fixed. If you try to fuse with multiple demon masks at the same time, you lose your mind and become an amalgamation of the forms. You can’t use two Angel masks at once and you can’t use an Angel mask and a demon mask at the same time. Also, fusions with Angel masks are very different. Fusing with a demon mask turns you into a demon, but fusing with an Angel mask just changes your outfit and weapon. It’s kind of like Ichigo’s Bankai form.
@@xeduski still finds it very interesting to me because maybe the mask (specifcally the demon) can bring out a character repress self just like Ichigo hollow self being the manifestation of his inner dark side that he doesn't like to show or similar to Jim Carrey character from the movie the mask and that idea alone can subvert our impression of the character and understand them more. THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS SO BADASS. I always loved the Vizards, so it's cool to see a power system inspired by that! I like the Angel Masks vs Demon Masks aspect too. Having the protagonist use the demon mask is also really cool. I could totally see a story like that being popular, especially with dark shonen being so huge right now!!
You gave great examples of what power systems should be. Hunter x Hunter is definitely the go-to reference for a great power system. Another power system that came to mind was JOJO's stands. They also have rules and sets which make the battles really fascinating and creative.

That actually almost sounds similar to one of the power systems I’ve created. In my case each character possesses a special ability unique to their own, think of stand abilities from jojo, quirks from MHA and df from one piece, derived from the one elemental power they have and influenced by their character traits or identity as you said. As they grow as characters, know more about themselves, accept themselves more or basically go through some development, their abilities would also become stronger or evolve.
One my favorite power systems that inspired me was from Epithet Erased, with the powers being called "Epithets". It's basically quirks in aha, however they center around the definition of a word. The only imitations is mainly their one's creativity. A character example is Giovanni Potage: whose epithet is Soup. Although having such a ridiculous epithet, he makes up for it with his creative usage. He can boil soup, making it quite a hurtful burn, and heal himself and others with it. His most creative use is building up soup steam around him, launching him up at a fast speed, and even allowing him to teleport behind you! For an Epithet that effected a user's personality: I would give it to Mera Salamin: Fragile. Her epithet caused her to suffer her whole life, forcing her to be bedridden her entire childhood. Although being able to live with it, Fragile causes her to take self damage whenever she uses it, making her steal stamina from others. She hates her Epithet, causing her to look for an Amulet that lets people steal Epithets.
My power system is called Willpower. It’s basic but solid. It revolves around determination and desire. Basically, you can do anything you want as long as you’re determined to attain it. Either through intense training or intense meditation, your soul itself will begin to grow until it shoots out into a form of energy that you desire. Your abilities from said willpower are also HEAVILY based on your personality. Your wish to connect more with nature? You attain the power to create and manipulate elements. You love animals and insects alike? You’ll be able to communicate with them and summon them as allies. You love inventing and wish to always have your tools and resources close to you so you don’t have to stop? You will attain the power of magnetism. It goes on and on. These powers can also be environmentally born. Everyone can have the same power. It can start awaken at any age. There can be prodigies who awaken it by instinct, or in one go, but anyone can learn. Because the power itself resides in their soul, anyone can learn how to have powers. So, there are no “freaks” or “anomalies”. The only reason people wouldn’t have powers is because they’re not hungry enough to attain their goals. My power system is heavily based off of Haki and Devil Fruits from One Piece. You can use your willpower to sense the location of others by the intensity of their souls, you can shrink your own to hide your presence, and you can fill any part of your body to be harder than diamond. The devil fruit inspiration comes from Vegapunk’s (One Piece character) idea/theory on devil fruits with them being the literal item that brings a person’s desire to reality if they’re determined enough to make it one. The drawback of this power is that it’s your LITERAL soul taking the shape of your ability. It can be damaged if you overuse it. Overuse it and your soul will forcefully stop itself, knocking you unconscious. That will be your only warning. But, if you try to get up and keep going, your soul will shatter Undertale style and evaporate. Killing you and leaving you as a dried husk.
My power system surrounds demigods once you consume any part of god your appendix kickstarts and creates a substance called pure blood that can be channeled into an element of other powers When I say element I mean that in the most obscure way like sound, body, ruby and mist When I say other powers I mean things like regeneration, summoning, enchantment, and creation But these don’t come without a cost once you become a demigod you become mentally locked everything you sleep you go back to the mentally you had before you became a demigod every time you burn pure blood you lose a different amount of sanity depending on what you used, this is all I got rn lol hope you had fun I guess
In my story, there have two magic systems, one called etherea, that is born natural, and other called cuántica, that starts artificial and eventually become both artificial and born natural. The first uses corporal movements to manipulate the environment with the mystical energy called ether, and the second uses thoughts to control the quantum fields in the subatomic particles to control the environment in the macroscopic level. Both are represented visually with changes of color of the wizards (primary colors with their dark, medium and light variants; based in their emotions and their intensity when wake up their magic for the etherea, and the secundary colors, depending for how their obtained their powers, for the cuántica), that represent different group of spells, the magicians can change their color for one group of spell to a other and are soft (etherea) and hard (cuántica) magic systems.

I have a few magic systems in my story, but the main one I have revolves around my demigod characters. When a demigod is born, they start off with no powers usually with some exceptions. As they grow older thier powers start to develop and show up through a series of displays until they reach thier first "awakening" which is when they get thier first set of powers.

my power system is like a suit that spawns on your body from your chest. There are multiple levels to which you can summon it. While using it, it burns your aura source until it runs out, making the character weak. The level to which the suit can be spawned is dependent on the aura reserves you have created, during your training or the free time. The character ascends to the next level upon mastering the present level he is in.
Im a huge fan of making powers and this was by far the hardest part of it. I’ve went through like 15 ideas in two weeks and i finally realized that i was trying to be too creative and unique, but i finally came up with something i like, and i think its well thought out, especially because it was built around the power of the protagonist. Each person has a natural affinity towards one of the five classifications. While they can develop minor skills in other areas, their innate talents lie within their primary classification. Holders - Most common, and their affinities manifest as weapons suited to them, which are incredibly powerful and durable. Manipulators are second most common, and it’s just like it sounds. They manipulate things like bending or telekinesis. Enhancers can enhance their body in numerous ways with their ability. This could be durability, stretching, shape shifting, anything to do with the body. Conjurers are the second rarest, and can manifest their ability as a being who they can fight alongside with. Transformers are the rarest, and can essentially let their ability posses them. They are essentially as strong as what a conjurer’s being would be, but it’s within one mind so it’s perfectly in sync. Users can only manifest one ability corresponding to their classification. However, they can develop different techniques or variations of that ability over time. Mastery of abilities requires rigorous training and practice. Using affinities consumes energy, and excessive use can lead to exhaustion or even temporary loss of power. Certain classifications work well together, and some don’t. The protagonist was born with all 5 affinities, so he will eventually learn all 5, but he can use his holder type ability freely, which manifests as a scythe made to cut through anything. His ability is called the four evangelists, and each one manifests as one of the classes. He’ll be able to transform with his conjuration one day.
My favorite things to brainstorm is power systems and i have an idea that is a little hard to explain Idea: It will be a dark shonen and in the world there is no like set in stone magic system to the naked eye. however there are Conjurers (people who posses magic abilities from the underworld itself) in some magic systems you can sign a contract to gain a power. in mine you can link or attach to a conjurer almost as if you are chained up to that conjurer. Conjurers have to accept the attachment because they also have to make sacrifices when the attachment is made. Not all conjurerers have an attachment though because they choose not to because some view attachments as dead wait. To a normal person with the naked eye the world is normal and most humans dont rome the streets in the middle of the night because they are usually sleeping. This is the time when Conjurers and Phantoms rome. A normal person when they come in contact with a Conjurer they can attatch to them or sort of become there apprentice and gain supernatural abilities off of the conjurer. the only downside to the attachment process is that the conjurer and their attachtment are chained together not physically but there is a elemental magical chain combined to both of them. this is the risk a conjurer has to make because if either side of the chain dies, the other does as well so the conjuerer becomes the mentor and has to teach their apprentice about how to grow and become strong with the piggybacked powers provided from the conjurer during the attachment. Phantoms are demons like in demon slayer they only are around at night but there is a catch. Phantoms take control of peoples soul and body and corrupts them (however a phantom can't corrupt a Conjurer or their Attachment) Conjurers and Attachments have the abilities to Release the Phantom from the corrupted human. They have to do this because if they want to kill the phantom without killing the innocent live taken over, they have to release the phantom from the soul. After they release the phantom, the conjurer and attachment can fight the Phantom to kill it also phantoms are unconscious and don't have the ability to think freely other then being bloodthirsty however if they are in a humans body long enough then they can become a Radiant and gain a consciousness and their own decisions which some Radiants are still evil but others after gaining conscious decide to fight phantoms and other radiants this power system is flexible and will really bring out story conflicts and rivalries hope you enjoy (Edit: Inspirations are Jujutsu Kaisen x Demon Slayer x Hell's Paradise)

My power system is called "Ego" and consist in the last wish near to death that a character has once trapped in a liminal space becoming your habilty. It has a secondary system too called "Lucid Dream" that counters Ego users but doesn't let you to use Ego at the same time (kinda mixture between jjk's dominions and one piece's haki)

My power system is mostly a combination of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Mashle. It involves different elemental marks that appear on the character's faces either from training or after experiencing a traumatic event. These marks give them the power to use traditional elemental powers like water, fire, earth, wind, and lightning, which are all hereditary based on genetics, but as the story goes on, the characters are introduced to derived elements taken from the main element, such as controlling ice, lava, metal, sound, and magnetism. To learn new techniques, the characters can read elemental scrolls or enroll in schools that teach them how to use their elements. The strongest and the most unstable technique that can be learned is the elemental state, which is a transformation that envelops the user with elemental energy and amplifies the power of their abilities, but results in the user lashing out of control. After releasing the elemental state, the user falls unconscious to recover their lost energy, but if it was used constantly, it may lead to the death of the user. In addition to these derived elements, the characters can also develop full-potential abilities based on the element they were born with once they become elemental masters, but they can choose only one of these abilities to use. They include but are not limited to transfiguration, memory recollection, object manipulation, prediction of the future, and time control. Outside of the elements, there are powerful artifacts called the stones of Yolanseil, which grant the user any wish they desire at the cost of sacrificing something of equal value, but it's only available in small amounts. Characters who don't possess elemental powers can enlist in the military to learn self-defense and sword techniques.

@@MonitorComics it’s just demons inhabiting worms making eggs creating a new species that can use their own soul power who take over pure hearted humans (mainly babies) and releasing a chemical that reorganizes the dna killing off the human soul and replacing the body with their own soul, the worm becomes the brain of the baby. To keep the balance Angels were sent down to choose selective people to stop these worms from spreading and consuming humans and taking over them with their own soul energy. There are also special situations where the worm won’t have enough strength and die in the human body allowing the human to merge with the dead worm and become a hybrid. And lastly are the normal humans who can use their soul energy without an angel or a demon worm inhabiting them. But the main character is a hybrid of the demon worm and the selected people of the angels. (No this doesn’t give away too much even though it looks like it but that’s the basic part of it. It’s much more complex than this.)

My power system in my on-going Novel (Still writing) is a bit abstract. The whole worldbuilding is the literal Universe. There's a power unit (Kinda like Chakra in Naruto or Ki in DBZ). So basically, there's at least one intelligent species in each galaxies and each galaxies contains at least one of the "Made-Temples" where an unknown fruit exists (In each temples). And Human are an artificially made prototype by the Martians that has been evolving and existing in Mars for more than 200 Million years with incredible technology. So basically what the Martians did was to feed two of the four human prototypes fruits from the temple. (Each soul automatically Creates its own magical power) And these fruits are later developed into special abilities no other human can acquire and it only can be acquired by gene and the main character is their descendant

My power system uses mana which flows through all living creatures, but has to be conducted through a focus (any object that holds value to you or is natural) There are some mundane spells but usually users specialize in one technique or another, while others have a natural technique that is naturally better to them. Mana is therefore limited, and users either have to use the mana of other beings or carefully manage their own. Maybe a bit complex but it should create some interesting fights. I made a power system based around dreams, short story short at one point in the 80s every single person was asleep at the same time (for like a second but still) and it mysteriously caused everyone’s dream to become linked and created the DreamScape. In this realm people dont dream but are dreams themselves, their powers are based on their goals and desires accumulating into one thing. One of the characters wanted to entertain people and her inspiration came from ciruses so her power is a ringmaster like one. People with nightmares that overpower their dreams will have powers based on those fears and such
“The ability to control your Fantaji” Dream energy is hard to control because an individual must have the ability hinder the fluctuations of metaphysical energy and also manipulate it, Since Dream energy has an infinite amount of potential energy because of its connection with the fantasy realm it’s extremely hard to control. If an individuals Fantaji is extremely wild and has no control their attacks will be sloppier/weaker, but if someone is able to control their Fantaji and therefore the energy is much more calm/controlled their attacks will be more powerful and effective. “A Lucid Level Dream Catcher” would be an individual that can fully control their Fantaji” To learn how to control Fantaji one must be able to separate Dream from reality in their minds which essentially lowers the potential energy of the Fantaji allowing an individual to use it for whatever they want. Energy system: Fantaji: This is the energy of the Dream world/Imagi-nation, it’s extremely hard to control as it is the energy of the fantasy realm and essentially has infinite potential energy which means that without control it will run wild and exhaust itself. Where Fantaji Comes from: Fantaji comes from the Dream world/Imagi-Nation, since human consciousness is connected to the realm of fantasy, Fantaji is able to be brought out of the Dream world, when an individual realizes how to manipulate their consciousness to their full ability. Essentially Dream catchers can use this energy because they know how to extract it from their consciousness and into reality. *The levels of Dream awareness and the deeper layers of Consciousness/metaphysical perception that a stronger individual can reach* Regular human: regular Humans do not know how to control their Consciousness on the same level as a dream catcher so they are not able to perceive the metaphysical, or Manipualte “Fantaji”. Dream Catcher: A regular Dream Catcher can manipulate “Fantaji” because they are able to control their consciousness on a better level than regular humans and can therefore perceive a deeper level of The metaphysical than a normal human. Lucid Level Dream Catcher: These are individuals that can fully manipulate their consciousness and can therefore manipulate Fantaji” on a higher level. They are also able to bring people into a lucid state which is an extremely hard technique that takes an extreme level of Fantaji control and a deep level of Metaphysical awareness. “There are not many that are Lucid level Dream Catchers” Becoming Lucid is essentially an individual creating their own dream space where they can do whatever they want with their level of “Fantaji” Doze/inemuri: Dream techniques. A character known as “Akarui” who is a Lucid level Dream Catcher and Can therefore control his Fantaji perfectly is able to use a dream spark technique/Doze Technique mixed together that’s extremely powerful/effective. Since “Akarui” is one of the most proficient individuals in Fantaji control/manipulation he can condense his Lucid awareness into a small singularity and Channel an extreme amount of fantaji into it creating a small black hole of sorts. When he throws this attack it begins to suck up everything in the environment, Since the technique is his lucid state Condensed he can still control what happens in the technique which means he can control how the Fantaji reacts in the singularity. After everything has been sucked up into “Akaruis” Lucid Dimension that’s now the size of an infinitely small/dense singularity, and the environment created inside the singularity simulates the universe before the Big Bang, he uses Dream spark which spikes the Fantaji inside of the infinitely dense singularity which creates an explosion that rivals the Big Bang inside of his Small Condensed Universe. This Technique is Called “Evergreen Dream/Green Singularity” and is classified as a Cataclysmic level Dream Technique. The explosion rips space and time/destroys akaruis Fabricated universe and spits out anything that potentially survived. Ethereal Limitations: Actually creating a dream technique as an actual established tactic is extremely important because it keeps the Fantaji input low while preforming said technique. This is because the potential energy of Fantaji is lowered when you hinder it/Give it rules, Allowing one to use powerful techniques and allowing one to save Fantaji. This is basically the power system here.
@bourne8636 when it comes to lucid dreams they are somewhat like domain expansions which was not intentional. You can essentially make your dreams manifest in your surroundings, the Ringmaster for example makes a carnival appear that helps in diversions and get aways
My manga takes place in the Viking era During an event, all the gods of Norse mythology were killed (Ragnarök), and in order to continue living, they selected certain humans who appealed to them or suited them, and they nested within them. As a price for this, they give the hosts godly energy. Godly energy is a type of energy that is in everything because the gods used it to create the world. One can essentially convert godly energy into other things, but one must concentrate and visualize it (I hope it's understood what I mean, you have to actively think about it). And every person uses it differently; some make weapons out of it, others fire, and so on. How much of this energy is given to humans depends on the god residing within them. Feedback is appreciated

Since you are dealing with gods, you want to be careful about power scaling and power creep! I think as long as you have your characters unlock more and more as they go, you should be fine! I dont make Manga, but Ive come up with my own superhero universe, it uses mainly parodies of other superhero franchises but with my own very special twists, many characters have unique ways of obtaining power but the strongest, those destin to protect theyre planet, my superman parody thought he was meant to protext earth, yet he eventually realized that the ring given to him by a shapeshifting cosmic god, that runs every piece that makes up a system, forming the ultra core. The system creates various atrifacts, Rings, Amulets, bracelets, gloves and more. The masters of The system disguise as dying alien beings and grant cosmic abilities to those of who they sense a great destiny in. The story im making focuses on how I think it would go if me and my friends had powers. And before we master them we get the shit beaten out of us. We mainly would fight aliens and galactic threats. But we do face other threats but most of them are cosmic.
My power system in a nutshell: based on the time of day that you were born on -> determines if your abilities are nullified or amplified in both time and place. What other mechanics are in the power system: each ability is a physical or psychological manifestation of either your family traditions, your imagination and freedom, or what your morals and alignment are. I used this power system to express why one character manifested this power, what emotions caused it to act this way, and how both time and place also show why the power is affected or not in some way. a tragic event in the past could cause what used to be a characters harmless green sparks of flame that used to heal now turn into a twisted purple and red mass of destruction that turns those who used to have dormant power now corrupted into monsters that over use their power until they are nullified at their time and place or their very power to be the cause of their downfall.
WAIT THIS SOUNDS REALLY COOL. I don't think I have ever heard of "time of day" being used before. That power system sounds really interesting because the powers changing over time adds a randomness that could be really dangerous. I like it a lot! Keep up the great work!
@@MonitorComics as for eclipses and blood moon Solar eclipse: your abilities are amplified to their max limit Drawback: you don’t have great control and have to take some ability suppressors to keep it in check Lunar eclipse: basically heavenly restriction from jjk but with the added bonus effects of having spider sense, echolocation, and full understanding of other peoples: abilities, potential, weaknesses, drawbacks, and what time their powers are amplified/nullified at with a precise accuracy. Blood moon: Every time your power is nullified you gain a weaker version of lunar eclipses senses but more dumb-down and without the full understanding of peoples abilities sixth sense. It’s an interesting mechanic that I added in to make more interesting characters

There is a story i plan to create. The power system being called Rupture or Fracture. Rupture being an elemental based power that people gain from birth, and Fracture being a supernatural power e.g super strength... what do other story writers think i can do with this power system to make it seem more interesting?
If this system is dual as I understand it, then if Rupture is gained from birth, Rupture should be gained from death. But then again, we only experience life, not death. If this is the case, what is conceptually closer to death, that allows us to gain a new power that we have to carry for the rest of our lives is trauma. Perhaps a major accident or a near death experience gives the survivors powers that are of Rupture. If you choose to follow this, then you must decide what happens between Rupture and Fracture. The way I understand it, both cannot coexist at the same time in the same individual. It breaks the fundamental laws of logic (the law or principle of identity). It is logical to assume that through trauma a person loses Rapture and develops Fracture. How their new powers are related with their old is up to you to figure it out. I believe that what I gave you is a good start. Whatever you built in the end, make it your own. Peace out ✌
You should align the naming of the power system to its greater purpose and ubiquitous, Though that doesn't have to be the case, it helps. This "rupture" Let's people bend elements to their will. There's more like a broader scope of elements, But stick with the 4 classic ones for now and things pertaining to it. Like rupturing different notions to achieve mastery of different elements. If its achieved at birth, This means there's much you can do with it. Have it be psychic or some other supernatural phenomenon. Similar to avatar, but different. Fracture can be similar to quirks as well. A better example though are fractured humans from jagan. Possibly in this case, it can be an internal trigger that catapults various powers rather than an external source that triggers an internal thing, but its up to you. This allows a lot more freedom with their powers if they are psychic based as another example. But it is dependent on logic and principle if you do plan to make it a hard system

One thing I find unique about myself created magic system is the 'races'. Basically essence is the main energy that all magic users utilized to use magic, the 'Races' aren't really races at all too. For example : [ Sprites : people with naturally hazy essence which naturally leaks a lot, and also notably takes the form of fog as soon as it is released as pure essence as well ] The races aren't races but are simply just different types of people with different natures of essence.

i'm currently working on a anime project inspired by one piece, but before that the powers were a combination of magical girl charms and mha quirks, evolved into just quirks, then i discovered one piece and now i'm somewhere in between genshin ley lines and quirks and cookie run kingdom/witches castle and my own personal touches when it comes to the power system and worldbuilding
Here's my power system When you're conceived your assigned a god animal that is *Dragon *Lion *Bird *Wolf (The wolf is the weakest one) When you get those you'll also have a core emotion *Anger *Sadness *Happiness *Fear Before I move on to the main power system you can also awakened to get supernatural abilities that you normally can't do with normal kiyasu (key-yat-su) Ex. Paint manipulation Kiyasu Is like a universal power system you can do anything with it you can create your own techniques with it like you can make a bombs with it you can make strings with it you can do anything you want the only thing that's holding you back is your imagination it's very hard to use it and for that some races and some people can't use it outright they have to use it through something else like grimoires weapons technology another way to use it is what they call alchemy Limitations Don't get too much of it Don't run out of it In my universe you can heal people but it's very risky to give people your kiatsu since it's made for you so if you don't have the ability to heal people try not to do that you could poison someone or you could die if you give too much (I love anime power systems so I made this based off of every anime I could think of it's basically like a universal power system and since my universe is like a multiverse I just said oh that would be a good power system)

Nice video. My power system is based on adrenaline and Energetic Life Force (ELF for short.) Adrenaline and ELF runs through the veins of every human and non-human, it's just a matter of utilizing it... using magic which are shortened down o spells require adrenaline, in which some people have more than others, or less than others. there's also like adrenaline rushes where you get an insane surge of adrenaline which allows you to utilize it at full potential, and it's not just to use magic it also boosts your speed, physical attacks etc. just felt like sharing
Hey man, a friend of mine is creating an original story and is trying to devise a power system but is unsure of how to proceed. Here is what he has so far. Characters even in the beginning of the series are significantly above the average human in terms of strength, showcasing superhuman levels of strength and durability that would kill the average human, due to their Arks granting them superhuman characteristics with elemental manipulation. It's nothing too original since elemental powers are basically the standard norm for most shonen works but he wants advice on how to make it unique. He is considering taking the Bleach route where the owner's weapons basically have their souls attached to their weapons but he feels that would be far too complicated. For each weapon, there's also a "release" command that was majorly inspired by Bleach where a user's power is multiplied by a factor of ten at the cost of increased stamina consumption leading to fatigue. He has played a lot of mobile games and is a fan of Arknights power system of Originium Arts, but doesn't want to copy it entirely. He is basically considering scrapping and starting all over since the power system he wants basically contrasts heavily with the story arcs he has in mind The worldbuilding he has so far is inspired by both Attack on Titans and Cyberpunk 2077 along with RWBY so he has that down. It's basically a dark dystopia-based work.
The magic system in my comic I’m making uses cards and bones. Magical cards born carried by wind from a grand tree can be found almost anywhere and always, reappearing in random places. Each card has a different sort of ability, and different strengths and weaknesses. When consumed, the card’s magic channels through the user’s bones and out to the open world. The user can direct the magic output to a specific limb, but the bones used to expel the magic will vanish and regenerate after some time. For example, if you cast a fireball with your hand, your hand will be limp after the fireball is shot out, leaving you with impaired mobility while fighting. Just don’t channel the magic through a bone covering a vital organ, such as the skull carrying your brain, as your brain would be very susceptible to damage

My power system is based off impactful moments, people called impactors are people who get abilities once they experience this impactful moment. Two examples of this would be, koderu who saw his house catch ablaze- he gains fire powers. And another, citrus who touches a poisonous dart frog as a child- she gains paralysis skin contact powers and the ability to jump high.
My power system is called balance basically everything in this world has balance if there's a strong boy there's a weak boy if there's fast boy there's slow boy that's just balance and the reason it stays in balance is because of the cancel of equality these people put things in balance because in the universe when things are not in balance it allows these godly entities to shift balance in their odds and enter the universe so the cancel have to stop that so people in this world have something called ratio energy they are rare as af and they are hired by the cancel to fight these entities and bring balance ratio energy can be used in various ways and it takes mathematics to use it very well like you can use ratio energy to shift mathematical balance in universe to do amazing things you can make nuclear explosions run faster than the speed of light run give yourself power buff my power system os really mathematical more mathematical than jjk so the mc was the weakest student in Japan but one day the strongest ratio energy user died the universe shifted giving the mc access to ratio energy so any suggestions on things to make the power systems more sensible and good
My power system uses aura (ik infact i got idea from HxH) but its different here. Here there are people who already have aura released from birth they sre gifted but some oeople who are not gifted they have to first learn to release it by training yourself with aura stone which releases your aura abd each person has different colour of aura. Then we have Shathriki which is achieved by connecting to your own soul and using your aura to connect to your inner world. After fully connected using your soul power, each person's Shathriki has its unique and different ability and there is another technique which is used to negate your enemy Shathriki ability which is counter aura since Shathriki requires aura too and with counter aura technique you can negate that person's any attack or ability but yea for that you need to have equal or more aura than that person. This is not end there is another stage of Shathriki which is called Shatai which only few of people achieved it as its extremely a higher level power where you reach your enlightenment and not everyone can reach their enlightenment. In Shatai you can open your third eye and once you open it you will be even stronger than before and each person's third eye has its own design and unique ability. For this you either need to be genitically gifted or a prodigy or you need meditate for many years and fully go spiritual. Even our main character hasnt achieved Shatai .
I have 2 areas and four categories I use to examine power systems i haven’t came across any anime that can’t fall into these categories but i haven’t seen everything Natural. They follow the laws of physics in there universes and don’t change relativity. Physical/natural. The powers and abilities you are born with like (mha Baki and parasite) the limits of it are dependent on training and can potentially hurt the user if they over work it. Scientific/mechanical Using science to make tools and formulas ones that use this are like (full metal alchemist sword art online and most of the ones with giant robots) resources are what boosts them Unnatural. They bend the laws of physics to do what they want just that they can do it doesn’t mean everyone can. Magical. For some people It’s possible to learn hundreds of diverse spells or you could choose to just master one since learning spells takes time but can be upgraded or potentially given this one is like (Naruto jobless reincarnation that time I reincarnated as a slime undead unluck and dragon quest) mastery knowledge and creativity help this one the most. Spiritual. These power are erected by the users mental and spiritual condition and you can’t learn new abilities unless you have an ability That specifically allows you to steal copy or adapt and you can also make deals for power or set conditions for power examples are shows like (mob psycho HXH hells paradise chainsaw man jjk)
I made this because I’m coming up with a story that has a multiverse this allows for drama when it comes to identifying an enemy’s abilities potential and some series like fairy tale use a combination but I can still separate it by looking at the overall power like (fairy tail) has characters that get stronger with there emotions but overall it’s more like the magical sub category
My power system introduces Wytai, magical objects that are actually the souls of those who died with a great amount of Meraki in their souls. meraki is a type of energy/aura that is created by human emotions

I.e Fire powers With a simple ability like this it's more important to say what the user can't do then what they can do since,if you're not careful,it's real easy for a reader to start questioning "Why can't they just make a sun and blow up everything?" Interpretation is what makes the powers unique to how you perceive the ability and what properties of fire you choose to focus on (I.e temperature control,pyro kinesis,flame creation, propulsion etc) Be back to see if I'm right.
my power system is pretty much your soul gives off an aura to protect itself. With that aura there is neutral (aura amount, does nothing), positive (ranged and manipulation attacks), negative (body modifications). One main thing is threading, a true display of mastery where you thread positive and negative power together to strengthen them both, threading neutral power with that creates more aura amount (but at the cost of slowly killing you the more you thread). What people can do with the aura is strengthen certain parts of it, the power and overall mastery, plus use their imagination to create different effects. like my main guys ability "impact". Next your emotions can come to play, like adrenaline and anger can effect the total aura and power amount. One trick you can use is spread a very thin layer of aura to gauge an enemies feelings for an advantage (think of observation haki sorta). Finally epiphanies allow you to break past the initial limiter and gain more power output. This involves fusing with your soul to create a new body of power (think of logias from one piece) gained through mastery, meditation, etc. Finally, fighting styles, meditation, mastery, and certain weapon artifacts can increase the flow of power throughout your body. Might add more later.
artifacts (can have different abilities) are sentient weapons that can grow and evolve based on the user and their experiences in battle, but can be drowned out from the users aura. This is so people with no power can keep up with the guys with powers. Gems are human artifacts made through a variety of reasons that allow the gem person and other person to fuse, bonding their souls together (think of the epiphanies).

A small percentage of people can manipulate elements; and in this world people are able to harmonize with different materials and manifest them on their bodies in combat. There are also special materials like an absorption one, and ones inspired by haki from one piece. You are also able to combine these materials into your elements. This is a basic explanation cause im not my brother lol, but here ya go.
I thought ofmaking a power system to where you have to do something that exceeds the limits of any human being, so much that supernatural beings see something in you and decide to give you powers that they can take at any time, and when you reach a threshold in power you have a chance of reaching a higher plane of existence, resulting in awakening.

Alright, so my idea of my power system is a little complicated, I'll try my best to explain it and would love to hear some feedback. Essentially, in my story there are two worlds which run parallel to each other. The world where the story takes place and another world, called the soul world. In my story everything has a soul, living or non living it all has a soul. The shape and properties of these souls can be altered via the soul world. But how can someone alter the soul world from the real world? Well everyone and everything has a version of themselves in the soul world. Beings in the soul world can alter anything souls as the wee fit. A person in the real world and their counterpart in the soul world are connected well via the soul. Those with greater connections to their counterparts, can influence them. This means that they can influence the counterpart to not only alter the shape and properties of their souls but also the environment. The restrictions on this power system are that you cannot increase or decrease the size of something's soul, meaning you can't turn a pebble into a giant sword. Also to truly make most use of this power you have to understand the full range of what certain things can do. You could also be held back by your lack of creativity too. Yep so that it it's still in its early stages and is being made better as we speak like I said before I hope you can give me some honest feedback to help me improven
Great video, it helped me come up with lots of new ideas for my story. Would love to see a video on how to nerf overpowered characters or keep them from ruining the plot. That's currently an issue I'm having trouble with lol.
Also since everyone else is doing it: my power system is a rock paper scissors format of “elemental, magic, and nuclear energy.” Essentially, they don’t hard counter each other, but they do have type advantage. They all have different levels of “power” and “control” which correlates with the political themes I’m working on. Elemental has precise control over their own element and mid power, so they defeat magicians with low power and high control over a certain aspect of reality like physics, but lose to nuclear users with little self control/control over others but high power. But magicians beat nuclear users much easier because they can control the battlefield and take advantage of the simplicity of the nuclear user. Tldr: rock paper scissors based on precision, power and control.
My power system is based on 'Contracts'. One can gain power through contracts with dead ancestors, Divine beings, Mythical creatures, Weapons(Named) and plants. One can only have one contract and to be able to perform the contract, you have to have a material which is dear to the contractee
My 2 personal favorites are Jojos and hunter x hunter. The complexity, originality and usage are what makes me want to make an amazing power system with all the greatness of both. Of course the world is important to and again i want to make a mystical or whimsical world like hxh because of its mystery as well. How does the world work. Both those things from those series is what makes me want to do that, and sometimes i think i might not make a good one but with thought, time and imagination i could probably do it.
My power system is based on thoughts and mind. Users usually are able to read minds or affect someones memories when they are alone. However, when two users clash, they create an area called the mind field where their every thought materializes in the real world. Doing so spends mental energy, so users have to be careful with what they think into existence.
My power system is called Kyrus. It’s actually an energy in the body which takes the form of cells that flow through your body delivering energy into your core which resides close to the heart. Characters Are able to manipulate it in 3 forms. Manipulation, Conjuring, and Summonings. That’s the main idea.
Here's the power system I currently settled with for my story. Inspired by mostly prototype 1-3, parasite and Tokyo ghoul. In the story, infectees of a virus develop an ability made up of blood called ????(still thinking of a name). These abilities are bio-weapons that usually take the form of wings, tentacles/tendrils or blades. Wing types manifest on the mid-upper back Tendril types - mid-lower back?? Blade types - arms After 1-2 weeks of infection, the virus develops a bio-weapon designed to suit the host best in terms of fighting style, build and tactics. They are also a physical manifestation of the virus combined with the host/ infectee's DNA. They also tend to have organic features such as eyes or mouths (For example: a leech-themed tendril would have toothed suckers on the ends) They are made from red blood cells as well as muscle cells and can be manipulated by the user. As a result of this, the user's weakness is their heart as they're unable to circulate enough blood to the area of the bio-weapon. When they die, their bio-weapon loses it's shape and returns to a state of normal blood. I was worried about it being too similar to other abilities, especially Tokyo ghoul's and prototype's.
My power system in the story that I was writing since 2019 has no name but since this should be a no go , call it the seizei power system So the seizei power system is quite simple, it has 5 types of energy Sui (ligh , fast energy) tzui (heavy , draining energy) jargadi (heavy , slow energy) hanui (medium energy) and finally kamalpa'a (Mixed energy) The energy types are usually consumed from the surroundings of the character and no character can produce it naturally except...1 (which is the protagonist) , when a character in the world of munzeisei consumes for example energy by breathing or eating a certain fruit or taking an energy crystal with them they will be able to shape the energy into elements or weapons Sui is the most common form of energy (usually consumed from breathing in the deserts or by eating apples in the forests), it has a weak effect yet it is fast to use , you can make an airblade or a waterbomb using it , tzui is usually found in spicy foods , in the mountains, and or by getting struct by lighting , it is fast to use but it drains your physical energy quickly and also drains your psychotic stability , the more you use it the more it makes you crazy , tzui users usually make lighting with the tzui energy and can form metal weapons , jardagi energy is formed by someone feeling rage , but can he also consumed or absorbed by eating watermelons , though it will be less effective and less pure if it was consumed rather than formed naturally, jardagi users usually make stones and can create lava and flames and fire , they're strong yet they're slow when it comes to using energy directly hence why they usually make weapons more than using the elements directly , The last natural energy is hanui , which is medium energy, it was prophesied that all the magical energy that exists came from it hence the first part of the name (han) means hero , it can also mean east but that's a matter for another time [my story has a constructed language in it] , hanui is observed by a process called charging , it is basically sitting while relaxing , you may say "that's easy" but sadly hanui users are declining due to the Sui users dominating the sphere by using their speed to demonstrate that Sui is better than hanui and such stuff Hanui energy can form rocks water air small fires and many more , though usually hanui users use hanui energy to fix weapons not to create weapons , they're the backbone of most countries in the story , they're the ones whom make products and the ones whom don't engage in battle , hence most hanui users are women Though hanui is used for other roles than battle , in battle hanui users have the advantage of being able to form most materials and weapons and help others so they play a supportive role Finally Kamalpa'a also known as pa'a, the meaning of the name means (absolute power),it was made by the protagonist by doing something no one achieved to do , mixing all the energies ... Mixing energies together (in your body) can be semi impossible but when done creates an explosion called wasted power, so the protagonist hypothesized that this wasted energy can be purified.. Remember when I mentioned you can gain power by using crystals? Gaining an energy crystal can be easy but having a pure one is hard , see energy crystals are formed by people crystilizing their energy into energy crystals , the strongest and purest crystals are usually formed by energy masters (whom are usually referred by as topdogs in the story but their name in the local language is fugpashteyur-ians) the protagonist was isekaid to the world's story so basically his objective is opening a portal to go back to the protagonist original world ,he tries to combine energy stones to open a portal back to his world, unfortunately many (whom were isekaid beside the protagonist and before him even) before the protagonist tried to do the same but failed to do so ,the protagonist tried and failed with many methods but after 2 years he succeeds , one of his failed attempts made the kamalpa'a ,the protagonist did it by attaching eletronic wires to 4 high grade energy crystals into 1 empty hexagonal crystal and he consumed it , the kamalpa'a allows the user to make all elements and weapons the user wants and can make the user have heightened senses and even make explosions on command , it also can heals tzui users from their mental disturbance and can heal people kinda , it also gives the user the ability to regenerate their health quite slowly ,

The easiest way is to just think about "if i do this, then this happens" and work from there. Many stories are written in a way where the world is normal and only a select few have powers, others incorporate it into their entire society and world. Lots of directions you can go with it!
Since alot of people are sharing their power systems, I guess i would also do mine. Its called Ink and its basically heavily referenced by artistry or drawing in general as the more creative a person is, the more powerful the ink can become. Every ink user has an art (or ability) and alot of characters have arts that are accessible to anyone and are pretty basic (such as element manipulation) however some people have unique arts that can only be aquired through traits or special means which are called talents and these are unique arts that are different from the ones without talents. Despite the talents though, if your not creative with your art weather it would be talentless or with talent, your art would be weak regardless, so even if you have a basic ability such as water manipulation, depending on how you wield it, it would become more effective and powerful. Its pretty basic if you think about it but i got lots of ideas on how i would execute it. Thats just the bare bone explaination.
I've been thinking of some of these power systems and i was finally able to think of one that uses haunted areas like the burmuda triangle that would give characters two power the first being on their worst aspect of themselves with the second one being an interest whether it is something that they have for a long time or that small thought one would entertain. What determines if someone can acquire those powers by how unaware they are of those facts with the people who don't..... let's say that's a spoiler for much bigger things for this system
My story actually has 3 power systems, though two of them are relatively simple and are more in place as counters to the primary system than focuses in and of themselves. Anyway, the main power system is Astral Forms. Once awakened, a person becomes able to don an Astral Form, something unique to each person and based on a constellation, astronomical/astrological object, or in some cases natural force. When in this form, they can use an ability unique to them. The type of Astral Form they have is based on how their ability operates, and can usually be inferred by how the Form looks. Transmogrifier abilities affect themselves, and the Form has animal traits. Alchemist abilities affect other people/objects, and the Form has architectural traits. Summoner abilities involve creating something, and the Form has radial symmetry. Centres summon Satellites, which are an object that contains the Centre’s abilities and can be used by others. Centres are always fully humanoid, person-sized, and have mouths. There are also traits shared by all Astral Forms, such as constantly giving off and perceiving radio signals which lets them track each other down, reduced damage from non-Astral attacks (unless it’s from one of the other two systems), and being infectious. This means that using your Astral Form around non-Astral Form users will awaken them, potentially empowering an enemy or causing a cascade in which random people can now use reality-warping abilities. This means these Forms should only be used when this isn’t a risk, which is difficult when you’re in a crowded city and your Astral Form is the size of a building. Of course, there are exceptions to all of these rules, so a good Astral Form user will be able to piece together as much as they can without limiting their understanding to descriptive rules that were made up retroactively to explain Astral Forms.

I think the order is wrong. The best examples you give use power systems as manifestations of themes. Like, Mob's 100 isn't the catalyst, the stress he builds up is. Power systems are visualisations and exxagarations of your story. This is true both for rather soft magic systems like Mob, or harder ones like HxH. You very much touch upon this near the end, but that is key to understand. A good system is rooted in good general writing.
My power system is called Life Power. It's very limited as it doesn't appear from air and comes from the user themselves. If the user uses all of life power inside them they would basically die. And the key is that to recover this energy they have to steal it from other living creatures like animals, humans, plants etc. Every user has a unique power similar to jjk characters based on their believing, religion, mindset, understanding of what Life Power actually is. It might not be powerful to destroy planets for a human or any other living creature but everyone can reach that level of power by simply stealing energy from other creature. Fortunately my story building makes everyone on Earth not to know about this power and how it works. My main characters are the ones of the first people on Earth to discover this power, eventually it would spread over the globe but it would take some time. Also, there will be another limitations I will create for this power system in the future. But because this power is unknown basically for everyone, this gives me a lot of time to build a good power system at least until I reach the middle of the story.
My magic system is based on divine empowerment. Magical girls team up with their guardian angels to combat demons, yoki, witches, and other creatures from folklore, mythology, and religions. Basics of it is that the girls angel either grants the girls powers or unlocks/channels the girls innate powers (there's a disagreement on which in story) allowing them to manifest their powers. The powers themselves are usually tied to either the girl's or angels background for an example of both one of the main cast is Chinese, was taught Southern dragon style king-fu by her uncle and her guardian angel was once the principality of dynastic China. So her powers are based on eastern dragons giving her claws, limited flight, and increased speed and durability to flight hand to hand. Because the powers are more based on the characters than a specified rules it leads to a lot of possibilities. You can have character with powers based on animals, national heros of old, prominent people in ones bloodline, or based on an element. So long as it makes sense for either the girl or her angel to have access to those kinds of powers. The biggest weakness I can see with it are avoiding the Deus ex machina because this is an overly Christian work so capital g God could step in at any point and do whatever he wants at any time just like in our world but won't to allow character development. Another weakness is the training as most of the characters wouldn't really be motivated with "get stronger and fight strong opponents" and so "getting stronger" will be more aligned with developing ones relationship with their angel, their teammates, and God. Definitely has a lot of room for fans to create their own original characters within the universe.
THIS IS SO GOOD. I love magical girl stories aaah. The Chinese cultural aspect is also really interesting! Those visuals will DEFINITELY help it stand out! To your point about the "getting stronger," I think you can still have that element (if you want). Maybe that girl doesn't realize she can fly right away because she's scared of heights, or maybe she realizes she has powers she didn't originally know. I think "getting stronger" in your story would just be "getting better at using what you already have" and finding new ways to use it! Hope that helps a bit! My power system is called magic and users of magic are called paladins. There are 2 parts of magic called magic reinforcement and magic sensing. Magic reinforcement scales based off of a paladin's magic control and passively increases a paladin's speed, durability, and attack power. Magic sensing grants a paladin precognition and allows a paladin to since another paladin's magic control. The other 2 abilities of magic are arcane flashes and arcane strikes version 1, 2, and 3. When a paladin performs an arcane flash their magic control drastically increases and it becomes easier to increase their magic control for now on. Arcane flashes also stack. Each of the arcane strikes grant a passive ability of your attacks that scale off your magic control. The other abilities aren't abilities of magic which will be important a little later. The abilities are called the awakened state and the mark. The awakened state grants 2 abilities to it's users. It makes its users totally invulnerable to all types of damage and makes it so the opponents your fighting can't use magic. When more than one person in a fight activate the awakened state something called a clash happens. When a clash happens everyone who's involved in the clash and have their awakened state active are unaffected by the abilities of the awakened state. When someone loses a clash their awakened state deactivates and the winner of the clash and how long it takes for someone to lise a clash depends on magic control. The final ability which isn't a magic ability is called the mark. Everyone is born with the mark and when it's activated they are unaffected by the abilities of the awakened state. The price however is that the longer you use the mark the worse your magic control gets. That is all ti my power system.
Most of my magic systems revolve around elemental magic. Two of my magic systems are similar to Black Clover magic system. One of them the magic they use can be anything, like silver magic, spirit magic, space magic, exc. The other being the mages use grimoire and their limits is based off their grimoires. But for that story I added two more types of magic. Demonic magic which is used by demons and universal magic. These are spells anyone can do and they usalley revolves around tracking, healing, barriers, exorcism. One magic system in another story has three types of magic. Elemental, light and dark magic. In this story monsters exist but they have human forms. Not all of them can use magic but all of them have a transformation or their true forms. Each speicies is unique and is based off monster legends/myths. There is also human mages. Those that can use magic can only use one elemental magic, fire ,water, earth, air. But if they train enough they can learn to use sub elements, lighting, ice, metal. These mages can choose if they want to use light or dark magic. One of the main characters is a monster that can use magic. The magical world is hidden from humans and he is someone that tries to keep it that way. He is basically a police men that enforces the laws of the magical world called a guardian. My most unique power system is called spirit beast. The people that have these are called acers. They are evolved humans that are stronger, faster and smarter than normal humans. These acers are the protectors of humanity that fight monsters from another dimention. These acers started to be born after the first attack of these monsters were 65% of humanity was destroyed. They have a ranking system being E rank the weakest to S rank the strongest. There is a rank above S rank but only two people in the world have it. E ranks are trainies that are learning to fight the monsters. Mainly children and those that haven't gone into combat yet. Those that go into combat are considered D rank until they unlock their spirit beast. A spirit beast is a manifestation of ones power that takes the form of an animal or mythical beast. The spirit beast strengthens the acers and become their armor and weapons. They get their ranks depending on how stronge their spirit beast is. I have more than just those but I will leave it at that for now.

so the power system I have is currently in the works, but I'll try to simplify it as much as possible (Keep in note this takes huge inspiration from D&D, just to let you guys know) so the Power system is currently called Aura (I wasn't sure if that was a good name, so if anyone has another idea of what to call it, feel free to tell me). Aura, in simple terms, is the energy that permeates off of 2 main sources, kinda like radiation: the first source is the many different planes of existence, which are basically similar to D&D, but work a bit differently. they're entire different dimensions with their own form of the universe, and have their own living things, although what sets them apart from being a universe is that all periodic elements, laws of physics, placement of celestial bodies, etc. are the same (Ex. Hells solar system is in the same structure as ours, with the same number of planets, moons, a yellow sun, etc. Just that the planets and moons are different). the most important thing about each plane is that they have their own aura, which people can be in tune with to utilize the powers associated with that plane. For example: if i learned to be in tune with the plane of fey, I'd be able to do things like create Illusions, fly, alter my size, and dilate time. meanwhile if I became in tune with the plane of fire, I'd gain pyrokinetic abilities. the second source is called fonts, which are effectively huge collections of a particular form of aura found in one location, usually a place where it isin't native. these Fonts can be a lot of different things, including places, objects, or even inside of people. some forms of aura are even restricted to only being found as fonts, such as Ki(inside of peoples inner self) or divine aura (found only in gods and people & places related to them, such as their temples and followers). although these places can cause strange things to happen, such as opening portals, most generally are safe. In cases where fonts are people, which are generally called Sorcerers, they tend to be able to control their own sources, with the benefit being that they always have access to their powers from birth, at the cost of having a limited supply. this is unlike using the power of planes, which are practically infinite, but require training to use. Some individuals with fonts though, have learned to offer their aura to others, which allows those who have theirs to use their aura how they chose. these people, called Warlocks, generally have to give something to the one with the font to gain it, such as their soul, money, or needing to do favors for them. Some however, such as churches to a god or an paladin order, generally ask for simple requests, if any at all, such as doing good or serving a king or country. this is kinda the basic idea, and I'm not sure if theirs anything like the name I need to change. I'd like some advice.
I’ve been really inspired by chainsaw man’s power system, that maybe I should make characters powers depending on who they are. But I’m thinking it could maybe also have to do with the chaos and desires. I’m also thinking of not just limiting it to humans and a big destructive, powerful creature to be an Elephant. I’m more leaning towards the who they are idea. I’m going to make almost all of the characters neutral. And make it have to do with the ying-Yang
I have several different power systems in mind. If you want me to, I could explain more, but right now, I wanna bring attention to one story idea I've thought up that's a little darker. Well... okay, _a lot_ darker. So basically, in this world, suicide is considered this ultimate sin. However, then a very good question came up: what if it is committed by a genuinely good person? So as to not need to overthink it, God decided to create a specialized afterlife specifically for such cases... and nowadays it's inhabited by monsters known as Phantoms. They have their own rankings and such, higher-ranked Phantoms being rarer, stronger, and more intelligent, but that's not what I wanna talk about. Instead, I wanna talk about the powers used to fight these Phantoms. The power system is relatively simple: when somebody goes to this specialized afterlife, they gain specific abilities based on how they died. For some examples, lemme use two of the three main characters. The MC killed himself with a knife, so he can now use said knife as a weapon. The knife is indestructible and never grows dull, and can always be recalled back to the user's hand. The main girl burned herself alive, so she has fire-based abilities. She can generate and control flames at will, basically making her the "mage" of the group. The world itself also constantly repairs all of the scars sustained by those who enter... aside from their actual suicide scars. This lets the girl in question act as the healer, since she can cauterize the wounds the other two members of the squad get and let the world's automatic repair system do the rest. Now... then we also have the Deadman State. Essentially, you have to be at least a little crazy to take your own life, and the Deadman State allows the characters to channel this innate madness to boost their physical _and_ special abilities. However, using it _continuously_ is kind of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it lets you become accustomed to it, letting you remain in the state for longer. On the other hand, you kinda... don't _want_ to get accustomed to being insane, and if you overuse it, you risk passing a point of no return. At that point, you are stuck in this state _permanently_ and there isn't much anyone can do about it. The progress to that can be seen in the characters' hair, as the closer they get to this point of no return, the whiter their hair becomes. Think something like supernatural Marie Antoinette Syndrome. (If this was a game, then reaching a certain point while any of the main characters have fully white hair would result in a bad ending)
IMO power system should be an integral part of overall worldbuilding. Consistency would be the key and to me though I'm not a writer, it's the most challenging part in writing. Authors can forget the rules they set in the worldbuilding. This can lead to writing oneself into a corner with overpowered characters which can resulting in pulling the Deus Ex Machina card over and over again in order to fix it and retcons.
OKAY!! So this is my power system called Pneuma in my story/manga called Between the Rifts Pneuma is a biological substance that is produced in the body’s of an alien race called the Sui. The Sui are from another dimensional plane other than the current dimension where the story takes place. Pneuma gives the Sui supernatural abilities. Pneuma allows Sui to bend the laws of physics in 3 primary ways. These ways are emitting (being able to produce a physical embodiment or element forms one’s self), controlling (being able to/having a permanent physical change to one’s self), and manipulating (being able to manipulate aspects and functions of the world around oneself). Emit(ting) involves things in the story as being able to produce flames or a fog from oneself. However it means purely oneself so they cannot use fires that a preexisting and have not been made from themselves Control(ling) are things such as having a voice that is able to be amplified to sonic waves, or being able to bend parts of their body to extreme limit as well as wheels come out of one’s feet. Manipulate(ing) allows the user to take parts of the world around into their will by being able to shape and adjust the specific part. Such as being able to control tree roots or bending anything in a liquid state. This cannot come from them and can only be preexisting. However there is a 4th way that is completely separate from the rest. These users are called Causations which can only be activated through specific actions in order to use the power. This aspect is basically a cause and effect power, as in they can only do something in a specific way through a specific action/situation. Such as they can control someone else through looking at them in the eyes and touching them at the same time. Or they have to drink a certain amount of water in order to breath fire. Typically they are not element based but some are. Now I said that the Sui produce this substance in their body right? So then only Sui could have these abilities right? No, the substance can be transferred to another person who isn’t a Sui when that Sui dies. Then they get that previous sui’s power. But because they are from a different dimension, not everyone, and by not everyone I mean very little are actually comparable with Pneuma. In most cases that person/being dies but in a small percentage some do survive and obtain the ability of the previous Sui. There’s also techniques which are fighting stances which are not powered by Pneuma but instead by hard training and creativity.

Paper manipulation But the power system is call kiysu (ki-yat-su) this power system gives a boost to make you superhuman like super strength super speed and super durability but you can also do supernatural abilities with this power system like making kiysu bombs or making a string of kiysu you can emulate fire lightning etc if you're proficient enough in it Some people can't use kiatsu in a way that the people in my story use it a different way like grimoires, using it through weapons Everybody has kiysu the way you breathe the how you can see how you hear how you feel that's all kiysu You can also use this in technology to make spaceships or to make phones The limitations are don't run out of kiysu or you might pass out or die also kiysu is like a muscle if you don't train yourself to use it you won't be able to use it at all you don't have a set limit of how much kiysu you can gain but you will explode if you have too much (When I thought of this power system I thought of everything how can I make it unique how can I make it like Hunter x Hunter are dragon Ball than I thought they all work on the universal power system every anime power system is similar in some way so so it's just a universal power system.)
My power system involve the vigour that characters use for evocation( conjuring techniques) Conjuring or evocation is the use of vigour, a power found within a person's heart, A person is born with sealed vigour , once unsealed, one uses it using their mind, so two body parts are important in manipulating vigour, the heart is the source of vigour, the mind is a tool to control it. Vigour: vigour is fused with the possesor's life force .a certain amount of vigour is needed for other,more experienced vigour users to sense, however,too much vigour beyond one's control leads to cardiac arrest, Their is also atmospheric vigour which can be absorbed from the atmosphere, it is natural vigour, unlike normal Vigour, atmospheric vigour is not fused with the user's life force, making it hard to absorb and maintain let alone controlling it. Atmospheric vigour increases normal Vigour techniques and applications by 120% however if one absorbs a lot of it, they lose control, this results in atmospheric vigour fusing with the user's life force leading to cardiac arrest. The mental state of the user is important during battles as the brain is used to regulate and maintain innate vigour and atmospheric vigour, if one reaches a true understanding of evocation, one can utilise a technique called "Aura Clad" . This technique allows it's user to become the perfect embodiment of their techniques as their personalities play a big role in one's technique, however some techniques have no auraclad like the technique "the mime".
Other characters use artificial minds to control atmospheric vigour, However only one character was smart enough to create a robot brain to regulate vigour, in his mech suit. Inspired by jjk(I bet y'all figured that out, and Naruto (nature chakra)
I have a power system based on the twelve Zodiacs, or thirteen… I’m honestly not sure. Point is, the chi in person can be used however they wish, but the chi is also only a set amount. So if you have a small amount of chi, you likely won’t have any ability to use it on a gram scale. This is different for the Twelve Zodiac warriors. At any moment in time there are twelve warriors, when one of them dies, a new one is sought out to take their place. Whoever is south out gets not only their Chi, but the Chi of every Zodiac warrior before them. So if the Snake Zodiac warrior dies, the one sought out will have the combined Chi amount of every Snake Zodiac warrior before them. The Chi system is similar to Nen in that eventually, the Chi will be suited best to the person. What do yall think?
There's a high chance you're not going to reply to my comment but in my manga there are specail people with this thing called the sight that allows them to see devils. The power system is called a seal. You draw a seal on apart of your body (eg your neck or your hand) and this seal allows you to use draw energies from hell, in which witches/hunters (can't really decide on the name) use this energy to fight devils. I have not watched this video: However, I personally don’t really like how convoluted jjk’s is: There are so many rules and restrictions that even with special abilities, the character powersets kind of blend together with a few exceptions. Personally, my approach to power systems is “easy to learn, difficult to master” for both the characters an audience. Introduce simple rules that give you creativity as well as make it easy to understand from the audience’s perspective. Simple rules also allow for creativity and evolution, this way the people who have become nerdy fans can overanalyze complex and weird ideas, as well as weird interactions. They can also obsess over every one in the universe. Meanwhile, casual fans still understand and don’t feel like they need to do homework to understand the fight/the author doesn’t have to tip toe and try to avoid breaking the rules of his own power system. Some good examples are JoJo, and weirdly enough, pokemon.
I am also a big fan of the easy to learn, difficult to master. In the video I mention the common critique fans have for jjk, "they don't understand how the power system works." So you're not alone in thinking it's convoluted! Less can be more!
Can you do a video on making mecha stories? I've been wanting to make my own mecha series that combines Real and Super. My series looks awesome in my head but when i put it on paper, it's a mess. Just to give you a basic idea of what i have, it's Brave/Yuusha meets Pacific Rim meets Gundam meets Power Rangers meets Transformers, it's basically a hodgepodge many mecha shows, games and such. It's too bad that i can't find any videos on this topic. Would love to see a how to on writing mecha stories
My magic system : First off - Essence! Non-material body parts : One a person is trying to channel their essence they would have to stabilize is trying to channel their essence they would have to is trying to channel their essence they would have to is trying to channel their essence they would have to focus on there 'Soul' or [ Celestilas ], which turns that essence and puts it inside of the non-material body part [ Essence wellspring ] which naturally stores the essence, although over time this essence burns out if you are simply a normal person turning it into [ natural essence ] making a completely unusable basically feeding it to the world itself as well ( this is the reason someone wants to turn the whole entire world into magicians would it be able to do so since if the world itself runs out of natural essence to feed it, It would naturally just stalemate and be inside of a time stopped state to save and store energy ). After that with a larger amount of willpower, along with being in one of three conditions ( in a sort of supernatural pocket dimension, in any sort of place with a large amount of natural essence, or being fed essence by other entities/people ). After that you will need to stabilize your essence through the non-material body part [ ethereal points ], 8 points in the body which can stabilize essence quite easily ( long as you have enough mastery ). After that you would need to purify your essence to make sure it doesn't turn into natural essence through your [ chakra nodes ], after doing so your essence would fully be under your control ( if you're worrying about not being able to generate enough essence to even begin the process, with enough mastery you can naturally force your soul to pump out essence although it naturally requires stamina and therefore most people do it one they are meditating as it allows them to restore their focus quite easily. - second off : GateKeepers! Gatekeepers are the equivalent to magicians in this world, and they're basically people with the ability to utilize spells and supernatural abilities. Due to the awakening of their essence wellspring which normally happens in super traumatic states ( leading to a lot of gatekeepers having some sort of sad past or traumatic incident, eating them to unintentionally become gatekeepers ) They're Essence wellspring awakened, due to this entity is known as elderborns would chase them random occasions to feed on their essence wellspring ( although of course there are multiple barriers and other passive abilities which can stop this from happening ). After that there are the evil gatekeepers, wisdom keepers. Wisdom can be a great thing but it can also be the worst curse as people with a lot of wisdom tend to be hunted down in the most gruesome ways to get information out of them, due to this gatekeepers who do criminal acts are simply termed Wisdomkeepers. - Third off : elderborns! Alderborns can take many different shapes, they could be an angel from some sort of a legend or mythology, maybe they could be a big puppy. Outer borns are basically manifestations of certain 'mysteries' or questions, due to this they are born being born with a special ability which gatekeepers also have known as [ secrets of the Soul ] or [ SoS ] for short. Outerborne's naturally have far stronger physics and better physiology than humans if they're not a gatekeeper, although they do follow the same stages of power as a normal gatekeeper would. - Fourth off : elder asoects. Older aspects are basically elden concepts born inside of the body allowing for the user to utilize them when they become a gatekeeper in the form of certain natural laws or physics, specifically just an aspect of that natural law. For example with the concept of air you might only be able to manipulate certain types of air like [ oxygen ], air which has already been inhaled. - Fifth off! : aspects of mystery. The aspects of Mystery or pathways of mystery, or simply for short [ PoM ], are basically certain forms of questions and mysteries which outer boards can take the shape of and are the eight paths of power for a normal person ( One main path which all gatekeepers follow and the eight sub paths of which a person can only follow one of them, although even if their ability correlates with a certain path they can pick another path if they wish to evolve their ability in that direction, although this rarely happens unless that person has some insights about how [ SoS ] could possibly evolve. Sixth off! : ability types. - [ gatekeeper natures : certain aspects which multiple groups of gatekeepers hold like 'Sprites' which are people with naturally hazy and foggy essence ] [ Culture arts : certain magic related classes which can differentiate from different families, towns, cities, etc, although of course for every person the way they use their culture classes and culture arts could be different ] [ Skills : skills are basically the magical abilities normally used in the world not counting the other magical ability types, there are also unique skills which are basically skills which are way harder to find but are naturally stronger and harbor sub skills, skills which are definitely weaker than normal but can be gathered en mass ] [ Magic sigils : magic sigils can either be normal enchantments which can last for certain periods of time or permanently, or preset magic sigils which are magic sigils which absorb the natural essence from the world itself to power up until they explode naturally ( preset magic sigils which explode but are things like barriers would simply stop absorbing essence as they would have reached their limit at that point ]. [ Intent : overtime a person gains the ability to utilize something known as 'Haveration' or 'Aura' as most people called it, Aura is basically a special energy which allows the user to do supernatural physical feats which are more unrelated to the supernatural feets which essence can do ( Aura can also be used for skills but those types of skills are more rarer than usual ) ] [ Gifts : gifts are basically gifts from certain divine entities or semi divine entities which adds special properties to your essence, and overall importance to fate ] [ World of freedom : a certain ability which every gatekeeper naturally gains as they rise through the ranks, it's basically the equivalent of domain expansion however it's made out of three main factors. 1 - attributes : worlds of freedoms are separated into the four attributes spirituality ( the effect that it can have mentally of any object trapped inside of a world of freedom and to the overall effect of the world's spirituality itself ), channels ( The amount of whirlpools of natural essence that it can turn into normal essence instantly ), divinity ( The overall strength boost that it gives the user ), and freedom ( The overall freedom that the user has over their world of freedom ). 2 - adaptability : how strong a world of freedom can grow with its user, specifically simply how fast it can adapt to the new abilities that its users obtain. 3 - external and internal omniology : these two factors which are separated into external and internal omniology are basically how a world of freedom can be used. For external omniology a world of freedom simply creates another dimension or a large pocket dimension. Meanwhile a internal omniology world of freedom creates a pocket dimension inside of the user which is gradually released, not creating another dimension and instead forcing itself onto the world ( The equivalent of a barrierless domain ). Worlds of freedom are basically sacred realms of which a person can basically do whatever they want as they have a near perfect advantage over there opponent, seeing as the environment and name can constantly change depending on the user and their overall abilities, talents, personality, etc. ] 7th off! : stages ( final ) [ Unnatural detectives : on today's which can slightly wield essence on a day-to-day basis however some people who don't have enough essence potential don't even notice that they've become unnatural detective, With the only different noticeable thing being there increase in physical capability. 1 - beta stage : stage is of one a unnatural detective's abilities are still forming. 2 - meta stage : a stage 18 unnatural detective's abilities have fully formed they are far stronger than that of a normal human. ] [ Elder detective : unnatural detectives You have a large amount of mystical potential and have abilities which are fully formed, leading them to have far more mystical abilities than the normal gatekeeper at the Unnatural detective stage. 1 - librarian : elder detectives which have unlocked there 'soul records' and have the ability to actually protect their souls. 2 - Soul-Angels : entities who can fully manipulate their soul and body perfectly. ] [ 3 - keepers of knowledge : entities who hold a vast amount of knowledge to utilize for their growth. 1 - secred angel : ( Yourube isnt letting me right more )

My power system is a bit more grounded, scientific, and complicated. It’s called hermeticism and It’s a branch of alchemy in my world, so in order to understand hermeticism we have to understand what alchemy is in my story. Alchemy is a practice that allows the manipulation of matter. All done through a process called transmutation, where you bring desired materials, ingredients, or components together to make something out of them. And then you have to imbue an energy called quintessence into said ingredients to trigger the transmutation process which transforms the gathered ingredients into your desired result. Quintessence is often in the form of a blue stone for non-hermits. Anyways onto actual hermeticism, it’s a branch of alchemy, where the user can transmute the components in their physical body, which can allow them supernatural abilities. The most notable thing they can do is perform alchemy without need for a quintessence stone. - Transmuting the carbon and iron in your own body can allow you to generate steel from your body, allowing you to form blades or even an exoskeleton. This is because carbon and iron are what is required to make steel. - Generating Flames from your body by transmuting the oxygen and hydrogen in your body. - Hell, even transmuting the sodium, chlorine, and water in your body to generate an electrical charge which ultimately allows them to project electricity from their bodies.
My power system combines superpowers and fantasy elements. It revolves around a connection with a God that is presumed dead, and in a turning point in their life, they can choose to sacrifice their power or part of their power for something greater as long as they have something called a Heavenly Reason. This also plays into the laws I have set for the power system and the various types of energy and unique elements. Everyone, no matter what kind of power, has a particular connection toward a certain concept. Those concepts include: Time, Space, Life, Power, Sight, Wisdom, Love, and Greed. These can alter how you perceive the world, and are directly correlated to your soul’s connection to God. Having a specific power can also make you more inclined toward a specific concept, and your race can also play a major role in how the powers of others affect you or how they manifest within yourself. If you sacrifice an immense power while having a Heavenly Reason, you could either gain something called a Heavenly Rite, a power that is governed very differently than the usual superpowers of the story, or have something more unfortunate happen. Mystique is a formidable force in this world where knowing your opponent is everything. Technique and Fundamental Law are the key elements of battle in my story, which I think is a unique change of pace within the realm of comics and manga, atm. However, I plan to publish as a book before anything else. I would go in further detail, but I think this is enough to get the idea across.
My power system is based on a army that captures and imprisons constellations and other similar spirits to give to their army. Creating a country full of oppression and little freedom. Until a small rebellious group decides to see if they are able to capture and steal other spirits in attempt to fight back

My power system uses desires. Its a kind of wish magic that lets you get one ability out of a mundane wish you make as a kid. Eg: a character has the ability to summon chairs at will

You can make more changes but pick one thing people take for granted or don't have and make the change. For example, let's say that a human life is represented by an object called a Soul Coin. The more virtuous your life is, the higher-grade that coin would be worth, going from bone (evil person) to astronite (a coin that looks like a cosmos). However, no one on earth knows how to artificially increase the value of their soul. When you die, however, your coin retains its value and has your birth and death date.
If this would be the case, then murder would be seen as an extremely sought-after vice. A Bone-Grade Assassin would have no qualms hunting upright people and burying children to sell their SCs to the highest bidder. Astronite Coins would basically be THE GOLDEN TICKET for anyone on Earth. You would be the embodiment of perfection, with all of society bending to follow in your footsteps.
The entire court system would be upended, since you could accidentally kill a person with a higher-graded Soul Coin and it would exonerate them. People could steal SCs, committing crimes and using the, "purer grade," SCs to allay suspicion. The entire human race would become a moralistic meritocracy, where only Gold+ Grades would be allowed for certain positions, with others of lower grades abusing their morality for their ends.

My power system is inspired by Vizards in Bleach. There are people who have the ability to summon masks. While wearing a mask, you are granted that mask’s special skill set. You can also fuse with the mask and transform into a sort of demon to amplify the powers. The appearance of the mask gives you a good idea of what its skill set is.
The police force uses masks given to them by angels, while shady characters go around and hand out demon masks to criminals and lowlifes to create chaos.
The main character is one of these lowlifes that gets a demon mask, but he decides to use it to be a vigilante. So, he tries to take out other demon mask users while avoiding being arrested by the police force.
One last important difference between the Angel masks and demon masks is that the demon mask will take over your body once you fuse with it and transform. So, this is a power that the main character has to slowly learnt to control or risk becoming a full blown demon and attacking his loved ones.
Thats sounds interesting. What will happen if they crack or break and what will happen if you fuse an angel and a demon mask together? Too soon?🤔
@@marknoel3967 If a mask becomes cracked or chipped, it will heal itself over time. If the mask breaks, it loses all its power and can’t be fixed.
If you try to fuse with multiple demon masks at the same time, you lose your mind and become an amalgamation of the forms.
You can’t use two Angel masks at once and you can’t use an Angel mask and a demon mask at the same time.
Also, fusions with Angel masks are very different. Fusing with a demon mask turns you into a demon, but fusing with an Angel mask just changes your outfit and weapon. It’s kind of like Ichigo’s Bankai form.

Having the protagonist use the demon mask is also really cool. I could totally see a story like that being popular, especially with dark shonen being so huge right now!!
You gave great examples of what power systems should be. Hunter x Hunter is definitely the go-to reference for a great power system. Another power system that came to mind was JOJO's stands. They also have rules and sets which make the battles really fascinating and creative.
I loved the story you showed in the beginning because in my novel, “The Collective: Forsaken Faith,” the powers or Manifexes as they are known are intrinsically linked to each character's identity. The more they embrace their true selves, the stronger their Manifex becomes. However, when characters attempt to present a false persona or deny their authentic nature, their Manifex weakens and diminishes, limiting their potential

That actually almost sounds similar to one of the power systems I’ve created. In my case each character possesses a special ability unique to their own, think of stand abilities from jojo, quirks from MHA and df from one piece, derived from the one elemental power they have and influenced by their character traits or identity as you said. As they grow as characters, know more about themselves, accept themselves more or basically go through some development, their abilities would also become stronger or evolve.
One my favorite power systems that inspired me was from Epithet Erased, with the powers being called "Epithets". It's basically quirks in aha, however they center around the definition of a word. The only imitations is mainly their one's creativity.
A character example is Giovanni Potage: whose epithet is Soup. Although having such a ridiculous epithet, he makes up for it with his creative usage. He can boil soup, making it quite a hurtful burn, and heal himself and others with it. His most creative use is building up soup steam around him, launching him up at a fast speed, and even allowing him to teleport behind you!
For an Epithet that effected a user's personality: I would give it to Mera Salamin: Fragile. Her epithet caused her to suffer her whole life, forcing her to be bedridden her entire childhood. Although being able to live with it, Fragile causes her to take self damage whenever she uses it, making her steal stamina from others. She hates her Epithet, causing her to look for an Amulet that lets people steal Epithets.

My power system is called Willpower. It’s basic but solid. It revolves around determination and desire. Basically, you can do anything you want as long as you’re determined to attain it. Either through intense training or intense meditation, your soul itself will begin to grow until it shoots out into a form of energy that you desire. Your abilities from said willpower are also HEAVILY based on your personality. Your wish to connect more with nature? You attain the power to create and manipulate elements. You love animals and insects alike? You’ll be able to communicate with them and summon them as allies. You love inventing and wish to always have your tools and resources close to you so you don’t have to stop? You will attain the power of magnetism. It goes on and on. These powers can also be environmentally born. Everyone can have the same power. It can start awaken at any age. There can be prodigies who awaken it by instinct, or in one go, but anyone can learn. Because the power itself resides in their soul, anyone can learn how to have powers. So, there are no “freaks” or “anomalies”. The only reason people wouldn’t have powers is because they’re not hungry enough to attain their goals. My power system is heavily based off of Haki and Devil Fruits from One Piece. You can use your willpower to sense the location of others by the intensity of their souls, you can shrink your own to hide your presence, and you can fill any part of your body to be harder than diamond. The devil fruit inspiration comes from Vegapunk’s (One Piece character) idea/theory on devil fruits with them being the literal item that brings a person’s desire to reality if they’re determined enough to make it one. The drawback of this power is that it’s your LITERAL soul taking the shape of your ability. It can be damaged if you overuse it. Overuse it and your soul will forcefully stop itself, knocking you unconscious. That will be your only warning. But, if you try to get up and keep going, your soul will shatter Undertale style and evaporate. Killing you and leaving you as a dried husk.

When I say element I mean that in the most obscure way like sound, body, ruby and mist
When I say other powers I mean things like regeneration, summoning, enchantment, and creation
But these don’t come without a cost once you become a demigod you become mentally locked everything you sleep you go back to the mentally you had before you became a demigod every time you burn pure blood you lose a different amount of sanity depending on what you used, this is all I got rn lol hope you had fun I guess

In my story, there have two magic systems, one called etherea, that is born natural, and other called cuántica, that starts artificial and eventually become both artificial and born natural. The first uses corporal movements to manipulate the environment with the mystical energy called ether, and the second uses thoughts to control the quantum fields in the subatomic particles to control the environment in the macroscopic level. Both are represented visually with changes of color of the wizards (primary colors with their dark, medium and light variants; based in their emotions and their intensity when wake up their magic for the etherea, and the secundary colors, depending for how their obtained their powers, for the cuántica), that represent different group of spells, the magicians can change their color for one group of spell to a other and are soft (etherea) and hard (cuántica) magic systems.
I actually had something similar derived from sorcery and wizardry which is like soft internal vs. hard external powers

My power system is rings that give the user supernatural ability’s and can also increase all five senses and depending on what power they get, the better they learn how to harness the powers the better they’re able to make objects or “bend” (fire bending) the power
I have a few magic systems in my story, but the main one I have revolves around my demigod characters.
When a demigod is born, they start off with no powers usually with some exceptions. As they grow older thier powers start to develop and show up through a series of displays until they reach thier first "awakening" which is when they get thier first set of powers.

This is great, very informative
my power system is like a suit that spawns on your body from your chest. There are multiple levels to which you can summon it. While using it, it burns your aura source until it runs out, making the character weak. The level to which the suit can be spawned is dependent on the aura reserves you have created, during your training or the free time. The character ascends to the next level upon mastering the present level he is in.
Im a huge fan of making powers and this was by far the hardest part of it. I’ve went through like 15 ideas in two weeks and i finally realized that i was trying to be too creative and unique, but i finally came up with something i like, and i think its well thought out, especially because it was built around the power of the protagonist.
Each person has a natural affinity towards one of the five classifications. While they can develop minor skills in other areas, their innate talents lie within their primary classification.
Holders - Most common, and their affinities manifest as weapons suited to them, which are incredibly powerful and durable.
Manipulators are second most common, and it’s just like it sounds. They manipulate things like bending or telekinesis.
Enhancers can enhance their body in numerous ways with their ability. This could be durability, stretching, shape shifting, anything to do with the body.
Conjurers are the second rarest, and can manifest their ability as a being who they can fight alongside with.
Transformers are the rarest, and can essentially let their ability posses them. They are essentially as strong as what a conjurer’s being would be, but it’s within one mind so it’s perfectly in sync.
Users can only manifest one ability corresponding to their classification. However, they can develop different techniques or variations of that ability over time. Mastery of abilities requires rigorous training and practice. Using affinities consumes energy, and excessive use can lead to exhaustion or even temporary loss of power. Certain classifications work well together, and some don’t.
The protagonist was born with all 5 affinities, so he will eventually learn all 5, but he can use his holder type ability freely, which manifests as a scythe made to cut through anything.
His ability is called the four evangelists, and each one manifests as one of the classes. He’ll be able to transform with his conjuration one day.
My favorite things to brainstorm is power systems and i have an idea that is a little hard to explain
Idea: It will be a dark shonen and in the world there is no like set in stone magic system to the naked eye. however there are Conjurers (people who posses magic abilities from the underworld itself) in some magic systems you can sign a contract to gain a power. in mine you can link or attach to a conjurer almost as if you are chained up to that conjurer. Conjurers have to accept the attachment because they also have to make sacrifices when the attachment is made. Not all conjurerers have an attachment though because they choose not to because some view attachments as dead wait. To a normal person with the naked eye the world is normal and most humans dont rome the streets in the middle of the night because they are usually sleeping. This is the time when Conjurers and Phantoms rome. A normal person when they come in contact with a Conjurer they can attatch to them or sort of become there apprentice and gain supernatural abilities off of the conjurer. the only downside to the attachment process is that the conjurer and their attachtment are chained together not physically but there is a elemental magical chain combined to both of them. this is the risk a conjurer has to make because if either side of the chain dies, the other does as well so the conjuerer becomes the mentor and has to teach their apprentice about how to grow and become strong with the piggybacked powers provided from the conjurer during the attachment. Phantoms are demons like in demon slayer they only are around at night but there is a catch. Phantoms take control of peoples soul and body and corrupts them (however a phantom can't corrupt a Conjurer or their Attachment) Conjurers and Attachments have the abilities to Release the Phantom from the corrupted human. They have to do this because if they want to kill the phantom without killing the innocent live taken over, they have to release the phantom from the soul. After they release the phantom, the conjurer and attachment can fight the Phantom to kill it also phantoms are unconscious and don't have the ability to think freely other then being bloodthirsty however if they are in a humans body long enough then they can become a Radiant and gain a consciousness and their own decisions which some Radiants are still evil but others after gaining conscious decide to fight phantoms and other radiants this power system is flexible and will really bring out story conflicts and rivalries hope you enjoy

My power system is called "Ego" and consist in the last wish near to death that a character has once trapped in a liminal space becoming your habilty. It has a secondary system too called "Lucid Dream" that counters Ego users but doesn't let you to use Ego at the same time (kinda mixture between jjk's dominions and one piece's haki)
THOSE NAMES ARE SICK. Having the source of the power be when you are at the edge of death is super interesting too, especially since most people probably aren't thinking so clearly when making that wish. That sounds like it could take a lot of different directions! Thanks for sharing!
My power system is mostly a combination of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Mashle. It involves different elemental marks that appear on the character's faces either from training or after experiencing a traumatic event. These marks give them the power to use traditional elemental powers like water, fire, earth, wind, and lightning, which are all hereditary based on genetics, but as the story goes on, the characters are introduced to derived elements taken from the main element, such as controlling ice, lava, metal, sound, and magnetism. To learn new techniques, the characters can read elemental scrolls or enroll in schools that teach them how to use their elements.
The strongest and the most unstable technique that can be learned is the elemental state, which is a transformation that envelops the user with elemental energy and amplifies the power of their abilities, but results in the user lashing out of control. After releasing the elemental state, the user falls unconscious to recover their lost energy, but if it was used constantly, it may lead to the death of the user.
In addition to these derived elements, the characters can also develop full-potential abilities based on the element they were born with once they become elemental masters, but they can choose only one of these abilities to use. They include but are not limited to transfiguration, memory recollection, object manipulation, prediction of the future, and time control.
Outside of the elements, there are powerful artifacts called the stones of Yolanseil, which grant the user any wish they desire at the cost of sacrificing something of equal value, but it's only available in small amounts. Characters who don't possess elemental powers can enlist in the military to learn self-defense and sword techniques.

@@MonitorComics it’s just demons inhabiting worms making eggs creating a new species that can use their own soul power who take over pure hearted humans (mainly babies) and releasing a chemical that reorganizes the dna killing off the human soul and replacing the body with their own soul, the worm becomes the brain of the baby. To keep the balance Angels were sent down to choose selective people to stop these worms from spreading and consuming humans and taking over them with their own soul energy. There are also special situations where the worm won’t have enough strength and die in the human body allowing the human to merge with the dead worm and become a hybrid. And lastly are the normal humans who can use their soul energy without an angel or a demon worm inhabiting them.
But the main character is a hybrid of the demon worm and the selected people of the angels.
(No this doesn’t give away too much even though it looks like it but that’s the basic part of it. It’s much more complex than this.)

My power system in my on-going Novel (Still writing) is a bit abstract. The whole worldbuilding is the literal Universe. There's a power unit (Kinda like Chakra in Naruto or Ki in DBZ). So basically, there's at least one intelligent species in each galaxies and each galaxies contains at least one of the "Made-Temples" where an unknown fruit exists (In each temples). And Human are an artificially made prototype by the Martians that has been evolving and existing in Mars for more than 200 Million years with incredible technology. So basically what the Martians did was to feed two of the four human prototypes fruits from the temple. My power system uses mana which flows through all living creatures, but has to be conducted through a focus (any object that holds value to you or is natural) There are some mundane spells but usually users specialize in one technique or another, while others have a natural technique that is naturally better to them. Mana is therefore limited, and users either have to use the mana of other beings or carefully manage their own. Maybe a bit complex but it should create some interesting fights. I made a power system based around dreams, short story short at one point in the 80s every single person was asleep at the same time (for like a second but still) and it mysteriously caused everyone’s dream to become linked and created the DreamScape. In this realm people dont dream but are dreams themselves, their powers are based on their goals and desires accumulating into one thing. One of the characters wanted to entertain people and her inspiration came from ciruses so her power is a ringmaster like one. People with nightmares that overpower their dreams will have powers based on those fears and such

“The ability to control your Fantaji”
Dream energy is hard to control because an individual must have the ability hinder the fluctuations of metaphysical energy and also manipulate it, Since Dream energy has an infinite amount of potential energy because of its connection with the fantasy realm it’s extremely hard to control. If an individuals Fantaji is extremely wild and has no control their attacks will be sloppier/weaker, but if someone is able to control their Fantaji and therefore the energy is much more calm/controlled their attacks will be more powerful and effective. “A Lucid Level Dream Catcher” would be an individual that can fully control their Fantaji”
To learn how to control Fantaji one must be able to separate Dream from reality in their minds which essentially lowers the potential energy of the Fantaji allowing an individual to use it for whatever they want.
Energy system:
Fantaji: This is the energy of the Dream world/Imagi-nation, it’s extremely hard to control as it is the energy of the fantasy realm and essentially has infinite potential energy which means that without control it will run wild and exhaust itself.
Where Fantaji Comes from:
Fantaji comes from the Dream world/Imagi-Nation, since human consciousness is connected to the realm of fantasy, Fantaji is able to be brought out of the Dream world, when an individual realizes how to manipulate their consciousness to their full ability. Essentially Dream catchers can use this energy because they know how to extract it from their consciousness and into reality.
*The levels of Dream awareness and the deeper layers of Consciousness/metaphysical perception that a stronger individual can reach*
Regular human: regular Humans do not know how to control their Consciousness on the same level as a dream catcher so they are not able to perceive the metaphysical, or Manipualte “Fantaji”.
Dream Catcher: A regular Dream Catcher can manipulate “Fantaji” because they are able to control their consciousness on a better level than regular humans and can therefore perceive a deeper level of The metaphysical than a normal human.
Lucid Level Dream Catcher: These are individuals that can fully manipulate their consciousness and can therefore manipulate Fantaji” on a higher level. They are also able to bring people into a lucid state which is an extremely hard technique that takes an extreme level of Fantaji control and a deep level of Metaphysical awareness. “There are not many that are Lucid level Dream Catchers” Becoming Lucid is essentially an individual creating their own dream space where they can do whatever they want with their level of “Fantaji”
Doze/inemuri: Dream techniques.
A character known as “Akarui” who is a Lucid level Dream Catcher and Can therefore control his Fantaji perfectly is able to use a dream spark technique/Doze Technique mixed together that’s extremely powerful/effective. Since “Akarui” is one of the most proficient individuals in Fantaji control/manipulation he can condense his Lucid awareness into a small singularity and Channel an extreme amount of fantaji into it creating a small black hole of sorts. When he throws this attack it begins to suck up everything in the environment, Since the technique is his lucid state Condensed he can still control what happens in the technique which means he can control how the Fantaji reacts in the singularity. After everything has been sucked up into “Akaruis” Lucid Dimension that’s now the size of an infinitely small/dense singularity, and the environment created inside the singularity simulates the universe before the Big Bang, he uses Dream spark which spikes the Fantaji inside of the infinitely dense singularity which creates an explosion that rivals the Big Bang inside of his Small Condensed Universe. This Technique is Called “Evergreen Dream/Green Singularity” and is classified as a Cataclysmic level Dream Technique.
The explosion rips space and time/destroys akaruis Fabricated universe and spits out anything that potentially survived.
Ethereal Limitations:
Actually creating a dream technique as an actual established tactic is extremely important because it keeps the Fantaji input low while preforming said technique. This is because the potential energy of Fantaji is lowered when you hinder it/Give it rules, Allowing one to use powerful techniques and allowing one to save Fantaji.
This is basically the power system here.
Honestly I like the story of it too, the main character is pretty interesting. I stopped writing it to focus on my better stories though.
@bourne8636 when it comes to lucid dreams they are somewhat like domain expansions which was not intentional. You can essentially make your dreams manifest in your surroundings, the Ringmaster for example makes a carnival appear that helps in diversions and get aways
My manga takes place in the Viking era During an event, all the gods of Norse mythology were killed (Ragnarök), and in order to continue living, they selected certain humans who appealed to them or suited them, and they nested within them. As a price for this, they give the hosts godly energy. Godly energy is a type of energy that is in everything because the gods used it to create the world. One can essentially convert godly energy into other things, but one must concentrate and visualize it (I hope it's understood what I mean, you have to actively think about it). And every person uses it differently; some make weapons out of it, others fire, and so on. How much of this energy is given to humans depends on the god residing within them. Feedback is appreciated
That actually sounds really cool! It kinda reminds me of Vinland Saga but with a Shaman King type power system. I think that could be really interesting! Since you are dealing with gods, you want to be careful about power scaling and power creep! I think as long as you have your characters unlock more and more as they go, you should be fine! I dont make Manga, but Ive come up with my own superhero universe, it uses mainly parodies of other superhero franchises but with my own very special twists, many characters have unique ways of obtaining power but the strongest, those destin to protect theyre planet, my superman parody thought he was meant to protext earth, yet he eventually realized that the ring given to him by a shapeshifting cosmic god, that runs every piece that makes up a system, forming the ultra core. The system creates various atrifacts, Rings, Amulets, bracelets, gloves and more. The masters of The system disguise as dying alien beings and grant cosmic abilities to those of who they sense a great destiny in. The story im making focuses on how I think it would go if me and my friends had powers. And before we master them we get the shit beaten out of us. We mainly would fight aliens and galactic threats. But we do face other threats but most of them are cosmic.

My power system in a nutshell:
based on the time of day that you were born on -> determines if your abilities are nullified or amplified in both time and place.
What other mechanics are in the power system:
each ability is a physical or psychological manifestation of either your family traditions, your imagination and freedom, or what your morals and alignment are.
I used this power system to express why one character manifested this power, what emotions caused it to act this way, and how both time and place also show why the power is affected or not in some way.
a tragic event in the past could cause what used to be a characters harmless green sparks of flame that used to heal now turn into a twisted purple and red mass of destruction that turns those who used to have dormant power now corrupted into monsters that over use their power until they are nullified at their time and place or their very power to be the cause of their downfall.
WAIT THIS SOUNDS REALLY COOL. I don't think I have ever heard of "time of day" being used before. That power system sounds really interesting because the powers changing over time adds a randomness that could be really dangerous. I like it a lot! Keep up the great work!

Solar eclipse: your abilities are amplified to their max limit
Drawback: you don’t have great control and have to take some ability suppressors to keep it in check
Lunar eclipse: basically heavenly restriction from jjk but with the added bonus effects of having spider sense, echolocation, and full understanding of other peoples: abilities, potential, weaknesses, drawbacks, and what time their powers are amplified/nullified at with a precise accuracy.
Blood moon: Every time your power is nullified you gain a weaker version of lunar eclipses senses but more dumb-down and without the full understanding of peoples abilities sixth sense.
It’s an interesting mechanic that I added in to make more interesting characters

There is a story i plan to create. The power system being called Rupture or Fracture. Rupture being an elemental based power that people gain from birth, and Fracture being a supernatural power e.g super strength... what do other story writers think i can do with this power system to make it seem more interesting?
If this system is dual as I understand it, then if Rupture is gained from birth, Rupture should be gained from death. But then again, we only experience life, not death. If this is the case, what is conceptually closer to death, that allows us to gain a new power that we have to carry for the rest of our lives is trauma. Perhaps a major accident or a near death experience gives the survivors powers that are of Rupture.
If you choose to follow this, then you must decide what happens between Rupture and Fracture. The way I understand it, both cannot coexist at the same time in the same individual. It breaks the fundamental laws of logic (the law or principle of identity). It is logical to assume that through trauma a person loses Rapture and develops Fracture. How their new powers are related with their old is up to you to figure it out. I believe that what I gave you is a good start. Whatever you built in the end, make it your own.

You should align the naming of the power system to its greater purpose and ubiquitous, Though that doesn't have to be the case, it helps.
This "rupture" Let's people bend elements to their will. There's more like a broader scope of elements, But stick with the 4 classic ones for now and things pertaining to it. Like rupturing different notions to achieve mastery of different elements. If its achieved at birth, This means there's much you can do with it. Have it be psychic or some other supernatural phenomenon. Similar to avatar, but different.
Fracture can be similar to quirks as well.
A better example though are fractured humans from jagan. Possibly in this case, it can be an internal trigger that catapults various powers rather than an external source that triggers an internal thing, but its up to you.
This allows a lot more freedom with their powers if they are psychic based as another example.
But it is dependent on logic and principle if you do plan to make it a hard system

One thing I find unique about myself created magic system is the 'races'.
Basically essence is the main energy that all magic users utilized to use magic, the 'Races' aren't really races at all too.
For example :
[ Sprites : people with naturally hazy essence which naturally leaks a lot, and also notably takes the form of fog as soon as it is released as pure essence as well ]
The races aren't races but are simply just different types of people with different natures of essence.

i'm currently working on a anime project inspired by one piece, but before that the powers were a combination of magical girl charms and mha quirks, evolved into just quirks, then i discovered one piece and now i'm somewhere in between genshin ley lines and quirks and cookie run kingdom/witches castle and my own personal touches when it comes to the power system and worldbuilding

When you're conceived your assigned a god animal that is
*Dragon
*Lion
*Bird
*Wolf
(The wolf is the weakest one)
When you get those you'll also have a core emotion
*Anger
*Sadness
*Happiness
*Fear
Before I move on to the main power system you can also awakened to get supernatural abilities that you normally can't do with normal kiyasu (key-yat-su)
Ex. Paint manipulation

Is like a universal power system you can do anything with it you can create your own techniques with it like you can make a bombs with it you can make strings with it you can do anything you want the only thing that's holding you back is your imagination it's very hard to use it and for that some races and some people can't use it outright they have to use it through something else like grimoires weapons technology another way to use it is what they call alchemy

In my universe you can heal people but it's very risky to give people your kiatsu since it's made for you so if you don't have the ability to heal people try not to do that you could poison someone or you could die if you give too much
(I love anime power systems so I made this based off of every anime I could think of it's basically like a universal power system and since my universe is like a multiverse I just said oh that would be a good power system)

My power system is based on adrenaline and Energetic Life Force (ELF for short.) Adrenaline and ELF runs through the veins of every human and non-human, it's just a matter of utilizing it... using magic which are shortened down o spells require adrenaline, in which some people have more than others, or less than others. there's also like adrenaline rushes where you get an insane surge of adrenaline which allows you to utilize it at full potential, and it's not just to use magic it also boosts your speed, physical attacks etc.

Hey man, a friend of mine is creating an original story and is trying to devise a power system but is unsure of how to proceed. Here is what he has so far.
Characters even in the beginning of the series are significantly above the average human in terms of strength, showcasing superhuman levels of strength and durability that would kill the average human, due to their Arks granting them superhuman characteristics with elemental manipulation. It's nothing too original since elemental powers are basically the standard norm for most shonen works but he wants advice on how to make it unique. He is considering taking the Bleach route where the owner's weapons basically have their souls attached to their weapons but he feels that would be far too complicated. For each weapon, there's also a "release" command that was majorly inspired by Bleach where a user's power is multiplied by a factor of ten at the cost of increased stamina consumption leading to fatigue. He has played a lot of mobile games and is a fan of Arknights power system of Originium Arts, but doesn't want to copy it entirely. He is basically considering scrapping and starting all over since the power system he wants basically contrasts heavily with the story arcs he has in mind
The worldbuilding he has so far is inspired by both Attack on Titans and Cyberpunk 2077 along with RWBY so he has that down. It's basically a dark dystopia-based work.

The magic system in my comic I’m making uses cards and bones. Magical cards born carried by wind from a grand tree can be found almost anywhere and always, reappearing in random places. Each card has a different sort of ability, and different strengths and weaknesses. When consumed, the card’s magic channels through the user’s bones and out to the open world. The user can direct the magic output to a specific limb, but the bones used to expel the magic will vanish and regenerate after some time. For example, if you cast a fireball with your hand, your hand will be limp after the fireball is shot out, leaving you with impaired mobility while fighting. Just don’t channel the magic through a bone covering a vital organ, such as the skull carrying your brain, as your brain would be very susceptible to damage
That is actually really interesting! I like the sort of randomness going on with the distribution of powers! That sounds like it could be a cool concept!
My power system is based off impactful moments, people called impactors are people who get abilities once they experience this impactful moment.
Two examples of this would be, koderu who saw his house catch ablaze- he gains fire powers.
And another, citrus who touches a poisonous dart frog as a child- she gains paralysis skin contact powers and the ability to jump high.
My power system is called balance basically everything in this world has balance if there's a strong boy there's a weak boy if there's fast boy there's slow boy that's just balance and the reason it stays in balance is because of the cancel of equality these people put things in balance because in the universe when things are not in balance it allows these godly entities to shift balance in their odds and enter the universe so the cancel have to stop that so people in this world have something called ratio energy they are rare as af and they are hired by the cancel to fight these entities and bring balance ratio energy can be used in various ways and it takes mathematics to use it very well like you can use ratio energy to shift mathematical balance in universe to do amazing things you can make nuclear explosions run faster than the speed of light run give yourself power buff my power system os really mathematical more mathematical than jjk so the mc was the weakest student in Japan but one day the strongest ratio energy user died the universe shifted giving the mc access to ratio energy so any suggestions on things to make the power systems more sensible and good

My power system uses aura (ik infact i got idea from HxH) but its different here. Here there are people who already have aura released from birth they sre gifted but some oeople who are not gifted they have to first learn to release it by training yourself with aura stone which releases your aura abd each person has different colour of aura. Then we have Shathriki which is achieved by connecting to your own soul and using your aura to connect to your inner world. After fully connected using your soul power, each person's Shathriki has its unique and different ability and there is another technique which is used to negate your enemy Shathriki ability which is counter aura since Shathriki requires aura too and with counter aura technique you can negate that person's any attack or ability but yea for that you need to have equal or more aura than that person. This is not end there is another stage of Shathriki which is called Shatai which only few of people achieved it as its extremely a higher level power where you reach your enlightenment and not everyone can reach their enlightenment. In Shatai you can open your third eye and once you open it you will be even stronger than before and each person's third eye has its own design and unique ability. For this you either need to be genitically gifted or a prodigy or you need meditate for many years and fully go spiritual. Even our main character hasnt achieved Shatai .

I have 2 areas and four categories I use to examine power systems i haven’t came across any anime that can’t fall into these categories but i haven’t seen everything
Natural. They follow the laws of physics in there universes and don’t change relativity.
Physical/natural. The powers and abilities you are born with like (mha Baki and parasite) the limits of it are dependent on training and can potentially hurt the user if they over work it.
Scientific/mechanical
Using science to make tools and formulas ones that use this are like (full metal alchemist sword art online and most of the ones with giant robots) resources are what boosts them
Unnatural. They bend the laws of physics to do what they want just that they can do it doesn’t mean everyone can.
Magical. For some people It’s possible to learn hundreds of diverse spells or you could choose to just master one since learning spells takes time but can be upgraded or potentially given this one is like (Naruto jobless reincarnation that time I reincarnated as a slime undead unluck and dragon quest) mastery knowledge and creativity help this one the most.
Spiritual. These power are erected by the users mental and spiritual condition and you can’t learn new abilities unless you have an ability
That specifically allows you to steal copy or adapt and you can also make deals for power or set conditions for power examples are shows like (mob psycho HXH hells paradise chainsaw man jjk)
I made this because I’m coming up with a story that has a multiverse this allows for drama when it comes to identifying an enemy’s abilities potential and some series like fairy tale use a combination but I can still separate it by looking at the overall power like (fairy tail) has characters that get stronger with there emotions but overall it’s more like the magical sub category

My power system introduces Wytai, magical objects that are actually the souls of those who died with a great amount of Meraki in their souls. meraki is a type of energy/aura that is created by human emotions

With a simple ability like this it's more important to say what the user can't do then what they can do since,if you're not careful,it's real easy for a reader to start questioning "Why can't they just make a sun and blow up everything?"
Interpretation is what makes the powers unique to how you perceive the ability and what properties of fire you choose to focus on (I.e temperature control,pyro kinesis,flame creation, propulsion etc)

my power system is pretty much your soul gives off an aura to protect itself. With that aura there is neutral (aura amount, does nothing), positive (ranged and manipulation attacks), negative (body modifications). One main thing is threading, a true display of mastery where you thread positive and negative power together to strengthen them both, threading neutral power with that creates more aura amount (but at the cost of slowly killing you the more you thread). What people can do with the aura is strengthen certain parts of it, the power and overall mastery, plus use their imagination to create different effects. like my main guys ability "impact". Next your emotions can come to play, like adrenaline and anger can effect the total aura and power amount. One trick you can use is spread a very thin layer of aura to gauge an enemies feelings for an advantage (think of observation haki sorta). Finally epiphanies allow you to break past the initial limiter and gain more power output. This involves fusing with your soul to create a new body of power (think of logias from one piece) gained through mastery, meditation, etc. Finally, fighting styles, meditation, mastery, and certain weapon artifacts can increase the flow of power throughout your body. Might add more later.
artifacts (can have different abilities) are sentient weapons that can grow and evolve based on the user and their experiences in battle, but can be drowned out from the users aura. This is so people with no power can keep up with the guys with powers.
Gems are human artifacts made through a variety of reasons that allow the gem person and other person to fuse, bonding their souls together (think of the epiphanies).

A small percentage of people can manipulate elements; and in this world people are able to harmonize with different materials and manifest them on their bodies in combat. There are also special materials like an absorption one, and ones inspired by haki from one piece. You are also able to combine these materials into your elements. This is a basic explanation cause im not my brother lol, but here ya go.
I thought ofmaking a power system to where you have to do something that exceeds the limits of any human being, so much that supernatural beings see something in you and decide to give you powers that they can take at any time, and when you reach a threshold in power you have a chance of reaching a higher plane of existence, resulting in awakening.

Alright, so my idea of my power system is a little complicated, I'll try my best to explain it and would love to hear some feedback.
Essentially, in my story there are two worlds which run parallel to each other.
The world where the story takes place and another world, called the soul world.
In my story everything has a soul, living or non living it all has a soul. The shape and properties of these souls can be altered via the soul world.
But how can someone alter the soul world from the real world? Well everyone and everything has a version of themselves in the soul world. Beings in the soul world can alter anything souls as the wee fit. A person in the real world and their counterpart in the soul world are connected well via the soul.
Those with greater connections to their counterparts, can influence them.
This means that they can influence the counterpart to not only alter the shape and properties of their souls but also the environment.
The restrictions on this power system are that you cannot increase or decrease the size of something's soul, meaning you can't turn a pebble into a giant sword. Also to truly make most use of this power you have to understand the full range of what certain things can do. You could also be held back by your lack of creativity too.

Essentially, they don’t hard counter each other, but they do have type advantage. They all have different levels of “power” and “control” which correlates with the political themes I’m working on. Elemental has precise control over their own element and mid power, so they defeat magicians with low power and high control over a certain aspect of reality like physics, but lose to nuclear users with little self control/control over others but high power. But magicians beat nuclear users much easier because they can control the battlefield and take advantage of the simplicity of the nuclear user.

My power system is based on 'Contracts'. One can gain power through contracts with dead ancestors, Divine beings, Mythical creatures, Weapons(Named) and plants. One can only have one contract and to be able to perform the contract, you have to have a material which is dear to the contractee

My 2 personal favorites are Jojos and hunter x hunter. The complexity, originality and usage are what makes me want to make an amazing power system with all the greatness of both. Of course the world is important to and again i want to make a mystical or whimsical world like hxh because of its mystery as well. How does the world work. Both those things from those series is what makes me want to do that, and sometimes i think i might not make a good one but with thought, time and imagination i could probably do it.
My power system is based on thoughts and mind. Users usually are able to read minds or affect someones memories when they are alone. However, when two users clash, they create an area called the mind field where their every thought materializes in the real world. Doing so spends mental energy, so users have to be careful with what they think into existence.

My power system is called Kyrus. It’s actually an energy in the body which takes the form of cells that flow through your body delivering energy into your core which resides close to the heart. Characters Are able to manipulate it in 3 forms. Manipulation, Conjuring, and Summonings. That’s the main idea.

Here's the power system I currently settled with for my story.
Inspired by mostly prototype 1-3, parasite and Tokyo ghoul.
In the story, infectees of a virus develop an ability made up of blood called ????(still thinking of a name).
These abilities are bio-weapons that usually take the form of wings, tentacles/tendrils or blades.
Wing types manifest on the mid-upper back
Tendril types - mid-lower back??
Blade types - arms
After 1-2 weeks of infection, the virus develops a bio-weapon designed to suit the host best in terms of fighting style, build and tactics.
They are also a physical manifestation of the virus combined with the host/ infectee's DNA.
They also tend to have organic features such as eyes or mouths
(For example: a leech-themed tendril would have toothed suckers on the ends)
They are made from red blood cells as well as muscle cells and can be manipulated by the user.
As a result of this, the user's weakness is their heart as they're unable to circulate enough blood to the area of the bio-weapon.
When they die, their bio-weapon loses it's shape and returns to a state of normal blood.
I was worried about it being too similar to other abilities, especially Tokyo ghoul's and prototype's.
My power system in the story that I was writing since 2019 has no name but since this should be a no go , call it the seizei power system
So the seizei power system is quite simple, it has 5 types of energy
Sui (ligh , fast energy) tzui (heavy , draining energy) jargadi (heavy , slow energy) hanui (medium energy) and finally kamalpa'a (Mixed energy)
The energy types are usually consumed from the surroundings of the character and no character can produce it naturally except...1 (which is the protagonist) , when a character in the world of munzeisei consumes for example energy by breathing or eating a certain fruit or taking an energy crystal with them they will be able to shape the energy into elements or weapons
Sui is the most common form of energy (usually consumed from breathing in the deserts or by eating apples in the forests), it has a weak effect yet it is fast to use , you can make an airblade or a waterbomb using it , tzui is usually found in spicy foods , in the mountains, and or by getting struct by lighting , it is fast to use but it drains your physical energy quickly and also drains your psychotic stability , the more you use it the more it makes you crazy , tzui users usually make lighting with the tzui energy and can form metal weapons , jardagi energy is formed by someone feeling rage , but can he also consumed or absorbed by eating watermelons , though it will be less effective and less pure if it was consumed rather than formed naturally, jardagi users usually make stones and can create lava and flames and fire , they're strong yet they're slow when it comes to using energy directly hence why they usually make weapons more than using the elements directly ,
The last natural energy is hanui , which is medium energy, it was prophesied that all the magical energy that exists came from it hence the first part of the name (han) means hero , it can also mean east but that's a matter for another time [my story has a constructed language in it] , hanui is observed by a process called charging , it is basically sitting while relaxing , you may say "that's easy" but sadly hanui users are declining due to the Sui users dominating the sphere by using their speed to demonstrate that Sui is better than hanui and such stuff
Hanui energy can form rocks water air small fires and many more , though usually hanui users use hanui energy to fix weapons not to create weapons , they're the backbone of most countries in the story , they're the ones whom make products and the ones whom don't engage in battle , hence most hanui users are women
Though hanui is used for other roles than battle , in battle hanui users have the advantage of being able to form most materials and weapons and help others so they play a supportive role
Finally Kamalpa'a also known as pa'a, the meaning of the name means (absolute power),it was made by the protagonist by doing something no one achieved to do , mixing all the energies ...
Mixing energies together (in your body) can be semi impossible but when done creates an explosion called wasted power, so the protagonist hypothesized that this wasted energy can be purified..
Remember when I mentioned you can gain power by using crystals? Gaining an energy crystal can be easy but having a pure one is hard , see energy crystals are formed by people crystilizing their energy into energy crystals , the strongest and purest crystals are usually formed by energy masters (whom are usually referred by as topdogs in the story but their name in the local language is fugpashteyur-ians) the protagonist was isekaid to the world's story so basically his objective is opening a portal to go back to the protagonist original world ,he tries to combine energy stones to open a portal back to his world, unfortunately many (whom were isekaid beside the protagonist and before him even) before the protagonist tried to do the same but failed to do so ,the protagonist tried and failed with many methods but after 2 years he succeeds , one of his failed attempts made the kamalpa'a ,the protagonist did it by attaching eletronic wires to 4 high grade energy crystals into 1 empty hexagonal crystal and he consumed it , the kamalpa'a allows the user to make all elements and weapons the user wants and can make the user have heightened senses and even make explosions on command , it also can heals tzui users from their mental disturbance and can heal people kinda , it also gives the user the ability to regenerate their health quite slowly ,

The easiest way is to just think about "if i do this, then this happens" and work from there. Many stories are written in a way where the world is normal and only a select few have powers, others incorporate it into their entire society and world. Lots of directions you can go with it!

Since alot of people are sharing their power systems, I guess i would also do mine. Its called Ink and its basically heavily referenced by artistry or drawing in general as the more creative a person is, the more powerful the ink can become. Every ink user has an art (or ability) and alot of characters have arts that are accessible to anyone and are pretty basic (such as element manipulation) however some people have unique arts that can only be aquired through traits or special means which are called talents and these are unique arts that are different from the ones without talents. Despite the talents though, if your not creative with your art weather it would be talentless or with talent, your art would be weak regardless, so even if you have a basic ability such as water manipulation, depending on how you wield it, it would become more effective and powerful.
Its pretty basic if you think about it but i got lots of ideas on how i would execute it. Thats just the bare bone explaination.
I've been thinking of some of these power systems and i was finally able to think of one that uses haunted areas like the burmuda triangle that would give characters two power the first being on their worst aspect of themselves with the second one being an interest whether it is something that they have for a long time or that small thought one would entertain. What determines if someone can acquire those powers by how unaware they are of those facts with the people who don't..... let's say that's a spoiler for much bigger things for this system

My story actually has 3 power systems, though two of them are relatively simple and are more in place as counters to the primary system than focuses in and of themselves.
Anyway, the main power system is Astral Forms. Once awakened, a person becomes able to don an Astral Form, something unique to each person and based on a constellation, astronomical/astrological object, or in some cases natural force. When in this form, they can use an ability unique to them. The type of Astral Form they have is based on how their ability operates, and can usually be inferred by how the Form looks.
Transmogrifier abilities affect themselves, and the Form has animal traits.
Alchemist abilities affect other people/objects, and the Form has architectural traits.
Summoner abilities involve creating something, and the Form has radial symmetry.
Centres summon Satellites, which are an object that contains the Centre’s abilities and can be used by others. Centres are always fully humanoid, person-sized, and have mouths.
There are also traits shared by all Astral Forms, such as constantly giving off and perceiving radio signals which lets them track each other down, reduced damage from non-Astral attacks (unless it’s from one of the other two systems), and being infectious. This means that using your Astral Form around non-Astral Form users will awaken them, potentially empowering an enemy or causing a cascade in which random people can now use reality-warping abilities. This means these Forms should only be used when this isn’t a risk, which is difficult when you’re in a crowded city and your Astral Form is the size of a building.
Of course, there are exceptions to all of these rules, so a good Astral Form user will be able to piece together as much as they can without limiting their understanding to descriptive rules that were made up retroactively to explain Astral Forms.

I think the order is wrong. The best examples you give use power systems as manifestations of themes. Like, Mob's 100 isn't the catalyst, the stress he builds up is. Power systems are visualisations and exxagarations of your story. This is true both for rather soft magic systems like Mob, or harder ones like HxH. You very much touch upon this near the end, but that is key to understand. A good system is rooted in good general writing.

My power system is called Life Power. It's very limited as it doesn't appear from air and comes from the user themselves. If the user uses all of life power inside them they would basically die. And the key is that to recover this energy they have to steal it from other living creatures like animals, humans, plants etc. Every user has a unique power similar to jjk characters based on their believing, religion, mindset, understanding of what Life Power actually is. It might not be powerful to destroy planets for a human or any other living creature but everyone can reach that level of power by simply stealing energy from other creature. Fortunately my story building makes everyone on Earth not to know about this power and how it works. My main characters are the ones of the first people on Earth to discover this power, eventually it would spread over the globe but it would take some time. Also, there will be another limitations I will create for this power system in the future. But because this power is unknown basically for everyone, this gives me a lot of time to build a good power system at least until I reach the middle of the story.

My magic system is based on divine empowerment. Magical girls team up with their guardian angels to combat demons, yoki, witches, and other creatures from folklore, mythology, and religions. Basics of it is that the girls angel either grants the girls powers or unlocks/channels the girls innate powers (there's a disagreement on which in story) allowing them to manifest their powers. The powers themselves are usually tied to either the girl's or angels background for an example of both one of the main cast is Chinese, was taught Southern dragon style king-fu by her uncle and her guardian angel was once the principality of dynastic China. So her powers are based on eastern dragons giving her claws, limited flight, and increased speed and durability to flight hand to hand. Because the powers are more based on the characters than a specified rules it leads to a lot of possibilities. You can have character with powers based on animals, national heros of old, prominent people in ones bloodline, or based on an element. So long as it makes sense for either the girl or her angel to have access to those kinds of powers. The biggest weakness I can see with it are avoiding the Deus ex machina because this is an overly Christian work so capital g God could step in at any point and do whatever he wants at any time just like in our world but won't to allow character development. Another weakness is the training as most of the characters wouldn't really be motivated with "get stronger and fight strong opponents" and so "getting stronger" will be more aligned with developing ones relationship with their angel, their teammates, and God. Definitely has a lot of room for fans to create their own original characters within the universe.
THIS IS SO GOOD. I love magical girl stories aaah. The Chinese cultural aspect is also really interesting! Those visuals will DEFINITELY help it stand out! To your point about the "getting stronger," I think you can still have that element (if you want). Maybe that girl doesn't realize she can fly right away because she's scared of heights, or maybe she realizes she has powers she didn't originally know. I think "getting stronger" in your story would just be "getting better at using what you already have" and finding new ways to use it! Hope that helps a bit! My power system is called magic and users of magic are called paladins. There are 2 parts of magic called magic reinforcement and magic sensing. Magic reinforcement scales based off of a paladin's magic control and passively increases a paladin's speed, durability, and attack power. Magic sensing grants a paladin precognition and allows a paladin to since another paladin's magic control. The other 2 abilities of magic are arcane flashes and arcane strikes version 1, 2, and 3. When a paladin performs an arcane flash their magic control drastically increases and it becomes easier to increase their magic control for now on. Arcane flashes also stack. Each of the arcane strikes grant a passive ability of your attacks that scale off your magic control. The other abilities aren't abilities of magic which will be important a little later. The abilities are called the awakened state and the mark. The awakened state grants 2 abilities to it's users. It makes its users totally invulnerable to all types of damage and makes it so the opponents your fighting can't use magic. When more than one person in a fight activate the awakened state something called a clash happens. When a clash happens everyone who's involved in the clash and have their awakened state active are unaffected by the abilities of the awakened state. When someone loses a clash their awakened state deactivates and the winner of the clash and how long it takes for someone to lise a clash depends on magic control. The final ability which isn't a magic ability is called the mark. Everyone is born with the mark and when it's activated they are unaffected by the abilities of the awakened state. The price however is that the longer you use the mark the worse your magic control gets. That is all ti my power system.

Most of my magic systems revolve around elemental magic. Two of my magic systems are similar to Black Clover magic system. One of them the magic they use can be anything, like silver magic, spirit magic, space magic, exc. The other being the mages use grimoire and their limits is based off their grimoires. But for that story I added two more types of magic. Demonic magic which is used by demons and universal magic. These are spells anyone can do and they usalley revolves around tracking, healing, barriers, exorcism.
One magic system in another story has three types of magic. Elemental, light and dark magic. In this story monsters exist but they have human forms. Not all of them can use magic but all of them have a transformation or their true forms. Each speicies is unique and is based off monster legends/myths. There is also human mages. Those that can use magic can only use one elemental magic, fire ,water, earth, air. But if they train enough they can learn to use sub elements, lighting, ice, metal. These mages can choose if they want to use light or dark magic. One of the main characters is a monster that can use magic. The magical world is hidden from humans and he is someone that tries to keep it that way. He is basically a police men that enforces the laws of the magical world called a guardian.
My most unique power system is called spirit beast. The people that have these are called acers. They are evolved humans that are stronger, faster and smarter than normal humans. These acers are the protectors of humanity that fight monsters from another dimention. These acers started to be born after the first attack of these monsters were 65% of humanity was destroyed. They have a ranking system being E rank the weakest to S rank the strongest. There is a rank above S rank but only two people in the world have it. E ranks are trainies that are learning to fight the monsters. Mainly children and those that haven't gone into combat yet. Those that go into combat are considered D rank until they unlock their spirit beast. A spirit beast is a manifestation of ones power that takes the form of an animal or mythical beast. The spirit beast strengthens the acers and become their armor and weapons. They get their ranks depending on how stronge their spirit beast is.
I have more than just those but I will leave it at that for now.

so the power system I have is currently in the works, but I'll try to simplify it as much as possible (Keep in note this takes huge inspiration from D&D, just to let you guys know)
so the Power system is currently called Aura (I wasn't sure if that was a good name, so if anyone has another idea of what to call it, feel free to tell me). Aura, in simple terms, is the energy that permeates off of 2 main sources, kinda like radiation:
the first source is the many different planes of existence, which are basically similar to D&D, but work a bit differently. they're entire different dimensions with their own form of the universe, and have their own living things, although what sets them apart from being a universe is that all periodic elements, laws of physics, placement of celestial bodies, etc. are the same (Ex. Hells solar system is in the same structure as ours, with the same number of planets, moons, a yellow sun, etc. Just that the planets and moons are different). the most important thing about each plane is that they have their own aura, which people can be in tune with to utilize the powers associated with that plane. For example: if i learned to be in tune with the plane of fey, I'd be able to do things like create Illusions, fly, alter my size, and dilate time. meanwhile if I became in tune with the plane of fire, I'd gain pyrokinetic abilities.
the second source is called fonts, which are effectively huge collections of a particular form of aura found in one location, usually a place where it isin't native. these Fonts can be a lot of different things, including places, objects, or even inside of people. some forms of aura are even restricted to only being found as fonts, such as Ki(inside of peoples inner self) or divine aura (found only in gods and people & places related to them, such as their temples and followers). although these places can cause strange things to happen, such as opening portals, most generally are safe. In cases where fonts are people, which are generally called Sorcerers, they tend to be able to control their own sources, with the benefit being that they always have access to their powers from birth, at the cost of having a limited supply. this is unlike using the power of planes, which are practically infinite, but require training to use. Some individuals with fonts though, have learned to offer their aura to others, which allows those who have theirs to use their aura how they chose. these people, called Warlocks, generally have to give something to the one with the font to gain it, such as their soul, money, or needing to do favors for them. Some however, such as churches to a god or an paladin order, generally ask for simple requests, if any at all, such as doing good or serving a king or country.

I’ve been really inspired by chainsaw man’s power system, that maybe I should make characters powers depending on who they are. But I’m thinking it could maybe also have to do with the chaos and desires. I’m also thinking of not just limiting it to humans and a big destructive, powerful creature to be an Elephant.

I have several different power systems in mind. If you want me to, I could explain more, but right now, I wanna bring attention to one story idea I've thought up that's a little darker. Well... okay, _a lot_ darker.
So basically, in this world, suicide is considered this ultimate sin. However, then a very good question came up: what if it is committed by a genuinely good person? So as to not need to overthink it, God decided to create a specialized afterlife specifically for such cases... and nowadays it's inhabited by monsters known as Phantoms. They have their own rankings and such, higher-ranked Phantoms being rarer, stronger, and more intelligent, but that's not what I wanna talk about. Instead, I wanna talk about the powers used to fight these Phantoms.
The power system is relatively simple: when somebody goes to this specialized afterlife, they gain specific abilities based on how they died. For some examples, lemme use two of the three main characters. The MC killed himself with a knife, so he can now use said knife as a weapon. The knife is indestructible and never grows dull, and can always be recalled back to the user's hand. The main girl burned herself alive, so she has fire-based abilities. She can generate and control flames at will, basically making her the "mage" of the group. The world itself also constantly repairs all of the scars sustained by those who enter... aside from their actual suicide scars. This lets the girl in question act as the healer, since she can cauterize the wounds the other two members of the squad get and let the world's automatic repair system do the rest.
Now... then we also have the Deadman State. Essentially, you have to be at least a little crazy to take your own life, and the Deadman State allows the characters to channel this innate madness to boost their physical _and_ special abilities. However, using it _continuously_ is kind of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it lets you become accustomed to it, letting you remain in the state for longer. On the other hand, you kinda... don't _want_ to get accustomed to being insane, and if you overuse it, you risk passing a point of no return. At that point, you are stuck in this state _permanently_ and there isn't much anyone can do about it. The progress to that can be seen in the characters' hair, as the closer they get to this point of no return, the whiter their hair becomes. Think something like supernatural Marie Antoinette Syndrome. (If this was a game, then reaching a certain point while any of the main characters have fully white hair would result in a bad ending)
IMO power system should be an integral part of overall worldbuilding. Consistency would be the key and to me though I'm not a writer, it's the most challenging part in writing. Authors can forget the rules they set in the worldbuilding. This can lead to writing oneself into a corner with overpowered characters which can resulting in pulling the Deus Ex Machina card over and over again in order to fix it and retcons.

OKAY!! So this is my power system called Pneuma in my story/manga called Between the Rifts
Pneuma is a biological substance that is produced in the body’s of an alien race called the Sui. The Sui are from another dimensional plane other than the current dimension where the story takes place. Pneuma gives the Sui supernatural abilities.
Pneuma allows Sui to bend the laws of physics in 3 primary ways. These ways are emitting (being able to produce a physical embodiment or element forms one’s self), controlling (being able to/having a permanent physical change to one’s self), and manipulating (being able to manipulate aspects and functions of the world around oneself).
Emit(ting) involves things in the story as being able to produce flames or a fog from oneself. However it means purely oneself so they cannot use fires that a preexisting and have not been made from themselves
Control(ling) are things such as having a voice that is able to be amplified to sonic waves, or being able to bend parts of their body to extreme limit as well as wheels come out of one’s feet.
Manipulate(ing) allows the user to take parts of the world around into their will by being able to shape and adjust the specific part. Such as being able to control tree roots or bending anything in a liquid state. This cannot come from them and can only be preexisting.
However there is a 4th way that is completely separate from the rest. These users are called Causations which can only be activated through specific actions in order to use the power. This aspect is basically a cause and effect power, as in they can only do something in a specific way through a specific action/situation. Such as they can control someone else through looking at them in the eyes and touching them at the same time. Or they have to drink a certain amount of water in order to breath fire. Typically they are not element based but some are.
Now I said that the Sui produce this substance in their body right? So then only Sui could have these abilities right? No, the substance can be transferred to another person who isn’t a Sui when that Sui dies. Then they get that previous sui’s power. But because they are from a different dimension, not everyone, and by not everyone I mean very little are actually comparable with Pneuma. In most cases that person/being dies but in a small percentage some do survive and obtain the ability of the previous Sui.
There’s also techniques which are fighting stances which are not powered by Pneuma but instead by hard training and creativity.

After you get one of those you can see what your core emotion is that can be anger, sadness, happiness and fear

But the power system is call kiysu (ki-yat-su) this power system gives a boost to make you superhuman like super strength super speed and super durability but you can also do supernatural abilities with this power system like making kiysu bombs or making a string of kiysu you can emulate fire lightning etc if you're proficient enough in it
Some people can't use kiatsu in a way that the people in my story use it a different way like grimoires, using it through weapons
Everybody has kiysu the way you breathe the how you can see how you hear how you feel that's all kiysu
You can also use this in technology to make spaceships or to make phones
The limitations are don't run out of kiysu or you might pass out or die also kiysu is like a muscle if you don't train yourself to use it you won't be able to use it at all you don't have a set limit of how much kiysu you can gain but you will explode if you have too much
(When I thought of this power system I thought of everything how can I make it unique how can I make it like Hunter x Hunter are dragon Ball than I thought they all work on the universal power system every anime power system is similar in some way so so it's just a universal power system.)
My power system involve the vigour that characters use for evocation( conjuring techniques)
Conjuring or evocation is the use of vigour, a power found within a person's heart,
A person is born with sealed vigour , once unsealed, one uses it using their mind, so two body parts are important in manipulating vigour, the heart is the source of vigour, the mind is a tool to control it.
Vigour: vigour is fused with the possesor's life force .a certain amount of vigour is needed for other,more experienced vigour users to sense, however,too much vigour beyond one's control leads to cardiac arrest,
Their is also atmospheric vigour which can be absorbed from the atmosphere, it is natural vigour, unlike normal Vigour, atmospheric vigour is not fused with the user's life force, making it hard to absorb and maintain let alone controlling it. Atmospheric vigour increases normal Vigour techniques and applications by 120% however if one absorbs a lot of it, they lose control, this results in atmospheric vigour fusing with the user's life force leading to cardiac arrest.
The mental state of the user is important during battles as the brain is used to regulate and maintain innate vigour and atmospheric vigour, if one reaches a true understanding of evocation, one can utilise a technique called "Aura Clad" .
This technique allows it's user to become the perfect embodiment of their techniques as their personalities play a big role in one's technique, however some techniques have no auraclad like the technique "the mime".
Other characters use artificial minds to control atmospheric vigour, However only one character was smart enough to create a robot brain to regulate vigour, in his mech suit.

I have a power system based on the twelve Zodiacs, or thirteen… I’m honestly not sure.
Point is, the chi in person can be used however they wish, but the chi is also only a set amount. So if you have a small amount of chi, you likely won’t have any ability to use it on a gram scale.
This is different for the Twelve Zodiac warriors.
At any moment in time there are twelve warriors, when one of them dies, a new one is sought out to take their place. Whoever is south out gets not only their Chi, but the Chi of every Zodiac warrior before them.
So if the Snake Zodiac warrior dies, the one sought out will have the combined Chi amount of every Snake Zodiac warrior before them.
The Chi system is similar to Nen in that eventually, the Chi will be suited best to the person.

There's a high chance you're not going to reply to my comment but in my manga there are specail people with this thing called the sight that allows them to see devils. The power system is called a seal. You draw a seal on apart of your body (eg your neck or your hand) and this seal allows you to use draw energies from hell, in which witches/hunters (can't really decide on the name) use this energy to fight devils.

I have not watched this video: However, I personally don’t really like how convoluted jjk’s is: There are so many rules and restrictions that even with special abilities, the character powersets kind of blend together with a few exceptions.
Personally, my approach to power systems is “easy to learn, difficult to master” for both the characters an audience.
Introduce simple rules that give you creativity as well as make it easy to understand from the audience’s perspective. Simple rules also allow for creativity and evolution, this way the people who have become nerdy fans can overanalyze complex and weird ideas, as well as weird interactions. They can also obsess over every one in the universe. Meanwhile, casual fans still understand and don’t feel like they need to do homework to understand the fight/the author doesn’t have to tip toe and try to avoid breaking the rules of his own power system.
Some good examples are JoJo, and weirdly enough, pokemon.
I am also a big fan of the easy to learn, difficult to master. In the video I mention the common critique fans have for jjk, "they don't understand how the power system works." So you're not alone in thinking it's convoluted! Less can be more!
Can you do a video on making mecha stories?
I've been wanting to make my own mecha series that combines Real and Super. My series looks awesome in my head but when i put it on paper, it's a mess. Just to give you a basic idea of what i have, it's Brave/Yuusha meets Pacific Rim meets Gundam meets Power Rangers meets Transformers, it's basically a hodgepodge many mecha shows, games and such.
It's too bad that i can't find any videos on this topic. Would love to see a how to on writing mecha stories

My magic system :
First off - Essence!
Non-material body parts :
One a person is trying to channel their essence they would have to stabilize is trying to channel their essence they would have to is trying to channel their essence they would have to is trying to channel their essence they would have to focus on there 'Soul' or [ Celestilas ], which turns that essence and puts it inside of the non-material body part [ Essence wellspring ] which naturally stores the essence, although over time this essence burns out if you are simply a normal person turning it into [ natural essence ] making a completely unusable basically feeding it to the world itself as well ( this is the reason someone wants to turn the whole entire world into magicians would it be able to do so since if the world itself runs out of natural essence to feed it, It would naturally just stalemate and be inside of a time stopped state to save and store energy ).
After that with a larger amount of willpower, along with being in one of three conditions ( in a sort of supernatural pocket dimension, in any sort of place with a large amount of natural essence, or being fed essence by other entities/people ).
After that you will need to stabilize your essence through the non-material body part [ ethereal points ], 8 points in the body which can stabilize essence quite easily ( long as you have enough mastery ).
After that you would need to purify your essence to make sure it doesn't turn into natural essence through your [ chakra nodes ], after doing so your essence would fully be under your control ( if you're worrying about not being able to generate enough essence to even begin the process, with enough mastery you can naturally force your soul to pump out essence although it naturally requires stamina and therefore most people do it one they are meditating as it allows them to restore their focus quite easily.
- second off : GateKeepers!
Gatekeepers are the equivalent to magicians in this world, and they're basically people with the ability to utilize spells and supernatural abilities. Due to the awakening of their essence wellspring which normally happens in super traumatic states ( leading to a lot of gatekeepers having some sort of sad past or traumatic incident, eating them to unintentionally become gatekeepers ) They're Essence wellspring awakened, due to this entity is known as elderborns would chase them random occasions to feed on their essence wellspring ( although of course there are multiple barriers and other passive abilities which can stop this from happening ).
After that there are the evil gatekeepers, wisdom keepers.
Wisdom can be a great thing but it can also be the worst curse as people with a lot of wisdom tend to be hunted down in the most gruesome ways to get information out of them, due to this gatekeepers who do criminal acts are simply termed Wisdomkeepers.
- Third off : elderborns!
Alderborns can take many different shapes, they could be an angel from some sort of a legend or mythology, maybe they could be a big puppy.
Outer borns are basically manifestations of certain 'mysteries' or questions, due to this they are born being born with a special ability which gatekeepers also have known as [ secrets of the Soul ] or [ SoS ] for short.
Outerborne's naturally have far stronger physics and better physiology than humans if they're not a gatekeeper, although they do follow the same stages of power as a normal gatekeeper would.
- Fourth off : elder asoects.
Older aspects are basically elden concepts born inside of the body allowing for the user to utilize them when they become a gatekeeper in the form of certain natural laws or physics, specifically just an aspect of that natural law.
For example with the concept of air you might only be able to manipulate certain types of air like [ oxygen ], air which has already been inhaled.
- Fifth off! : aspects of mystery.
The aspects of Mystery or pathways of mystery, or simply for short [ PoM ], are basically certain forms of questions and mysteries which outer boards can take the shape of and are the eight paths of power for a normal person ( One main path which all gatekeepers follow and the eight sub paths of which a person can only follow one of them, although even if their ability correlates with a certain path they can pick another path if they wish to evolve their ability in that direction, although this rarely happens unless that person has some insights about how [ SoS ] could possibly evolve.
Sixth off! : ability types.
- [ gatekeeper natures : certain aspects which multiple groups of gatekeepers hold like 'Sprites' which are people with naturally hazy and foggy essence ]
[ Culture arts : certain magic related classes which can differentiate from different families, towns, cities, etc, although of course for every person the way they use their culture classes and culture arts could be different ]
[ Skills : skills are basically the magical abilities normally used in the world not counting the other magical ability types, there are also unique skills which are basically skills which are way harder to find but are naturally stronger and harbor sub skills, skills which are definitely weaker than normal but can be gathered en mass ]
[ Magic sigils : magic sigils can either be normal enchantments which can last for certain periods of time or permanently, or preset magic sigils which are magic sigils which absorb the natural essence from the world itself to power up until they explode naturally ( preset magic sigils which explode but are things like barriers would simply stop absorbing essence as they would have reached their limit at that point ].
[ Intent : overtime a person gains the ability to utilize something known as 'Haveration' or 'Aura' as most people called it, Aura is basically a special energy which allows the user to do supernatural physical feats which are more unrelated to the supernatural feets which essence can do ( Aura can also be used for skills but those types of skills are more rarer than usual ) ]
[ Gifts : gifts are basically gifts from certain divine entities or semi divine entities which adds special properties to your essence, and overall importance to fate ]
[ World of freedom : a certain ability which every gatekeeper naturally gains as they rise through the ranks, it's basically the equivalent of domain expansion however it's made out of three main factors.
1 - attributes : worlds of freedoms are separated into the four attributes spirituality ( the effect that it can have mentally of any object trapped inside of a world of freedom and to the overall effect of the world's spirituality itself ), channels ( The amount of whirlpools of natural essence that it can turn into normal essence instantly ), divinity ( The overall strength boost that it gives the user ), and freedom ( The overall freedom that the user has over their world of freedom ).
2 - adaptability : how strong a world of freedom can grow with its user, specifically simply how fast it can adapt to the new abilities that its users obtain.
3 - external and internal omniology : these two factors which are separated into external and internal omniology are basically how a world of freedom can be used.
For external omniology a world of freedom simply creates another dimension or a large pocket dimension.
Meanwhile a internal omniology world of freedom creates a pocket dimension inside of the user which is gradually released, not creating another dimension and instead forcing itself onto the world ( The equivalent of a barrierless domain ).
Worlds of freedom are basically sacred realms of which a person can basically do whatever they want as they have a near perfect advantage over there opponent, seeing as the environment and name can constantly change depending on the user and their overall abilities, talents, personality, etc. ]
7th off! : stages ( final )
[ Unnatural detectives : on today's which can slightly wield essence on a day-to-day basis however some people who don't have enough essence potential don't even notice that they've become unnatural detective, With the only different noticeable thing being there increase in physical capability.
1 - beta stage : stage is of one a unnatural detective's abilities are still forming.
2 - meta stage : a stage 18 unnatural detective's abilities have fully formed they are far stronger than that of a normal human. ]
[ Elder detective : unnatural detectives You have a large amount of mystical potential and have abilities which are fully formed, leading them to have far more mystical abilities than the normal gatekeeper at the Unnatural detective stage.
1 - librarian : elder detectives which have unlocked there 'soul records' and have the ability to actually protect their souls.
2 - Soul-Angels : entities who can fully manipulate their soul and body perfectly. ]
[ 3 - keepers of knowledge : entities who hold a vast amount of knowledge to utilize for their growth.

[ 4 - keepers of secrets : entities who hold many secrets to bolster their strength and reach new heights.
1 - angels of Myth : insidious who resemble many legends and mythological creatures from myths and legends along with holding unparalleled physical power and uncomprehensible special abilities.
2 - angels of mystery : entities who can easily erase and rewrite stories with their amazing God like abilities. These entities have changed history as they wish many many times.
5 - Harold of Mystery : entities who have finally reached the near peak of everything. Entities which are simply 'better' in all things.
1 - archangel of sacred myth : entities who can rival gods in their own right. Simply able to punch and destroy a universe.
2 - authors of secrets : The ability to write and rewrite the history and fate of a person as they wish easily!
6 ( final stage ) - Divinity of mystery : cannot be explained by words that can keep a human sane.
1 - apostles of history : capable of rewriting and writing the fabrics that make up mysteries legends and all knowledge.

My power system is a bit more grounded, scientific, and complicated. It’s called hermeticism and It’s a branch of alchemy in my world, so in order to understand hermeticism we have to understand what alchemy is in my story.
Alchemy is a practice that allows the manipulation of matter. All done through a process called transmutation, where you bring desired materials, ingredients, or components together to make something out of them. And then you have to imbue an energy called quintessence into said ingredients to trigger the transmutation process which transforms the gathered ingredients into your desired result. Quintessence is often in the form of a blue stone for non-hermits.
Anyways onto actual hermeticism, it’s a branch of alchemy, where the user can transmute the components in their physical body, which can allow them supernatural abilities. The most notable thing they can do is perform alchemy without need for a quintessence stone.
- Transmuting the carbon and iron in your own body can allow you to generate steel from your body, allowing you to form blades or even an exoskeleton. This is because carbon and iron are what is required to make steel.
- Generating Flames from your body by transmuting the oxygen and hydrogen in your body.
- Hell, even transmuting the sodium, chlorine, and water in your body to generate an electrical charge which ultimately allows them to project electricity from their bodies.
My power system combines superpowers and fantasy elements. It revolves around a connection with a God that is presumed dead, and in a turning point in their life, they can choose to sacrifice their power or part of their power for something greater as long as they have something called a Heavenly Reason. This also plays into the laws I have set for the power system and the various types of energy and unique elements.
Everyone, no matter what kind of power, has a particular connection toward a certain concept. Those concepts include: Time, Space, Life, Power, Sight, Wisdom, Love, and Greed. These can alter how you perceive the world, and are directly correlated to your soul’s connection to God. Having a specific power can also make you more inclined toward a specific concept, and your race can also play a major role in how the powers of others affect you or how they manifest within yourself.
If you sacrifice an immense power while having a Heavenly Reason, you could either gain something called a Heavenly Rite, a power that is governed very differently than the usual superpowers of the story, or have something more unfortunate happen. Mystique is a formidable force in this world where knowing your opponent is everything. Technique and Fundamental Law are the key elements of battle in my story, which I think is a unique change of pace within the realm of comics and manga, atm.
However, I plan to publish as a book before anything else. I would go in further detail, but I think this is enough to get the idea across.

My power system is based on a army that captures and imprisons constellations and other similar spirits to give to their army. Creating a country full of oppression and little freedom. Until a small rebellious group decides to see if they are able to capture and steal other spirits in attempt to fight back
