Has a war veteran of 3 tours, this version hits on a level so much more. Every time I listen my heart is so full. The words and music just gives me goosebumps every time.
The symphony just adds an extra layer of emotion and power that makes the song so much more beautiful. The backing orchestra moves me to tears, it really does.
how do I not see anyone talking about how kirk notices Kamen behind him and moves so that they're back to back and starts smiling while he's playing the solo at 6:36 it's so cool
I always got a kick out of that. I’ve never seen him do that with James or even Jason or rob. I could be wrong though- maybe he has and I just haven’t seen it.
Hetfield still sounding awesome today, but the S&M times were definitely the peak of his vocal performance since the existence of Metallica. Love this album. Epic masterpiece.
Have to disagree. In S&M 1 his vocals are cut short in things like bleeding me and outlaw torn, where in live performances since like 2015 to now he REALLY holds those vocals for so long its like hes singing to the entire audience without a microphone its that soulful and deep. I'd prefer him exaggerating the vocals like he does in present time then holding it for 1-2 seconds. Edit: BTW he was using auto tune in parts of S&M1 which is something never seen in recent times which i'm also glad, but they were doing it cuz everyone was in late 90s early 2000s.
@@LucasHD1001 yes sure Symfonic and progresive melodic metal too. You know Stratovarius metal band songs "Black Diamond" ? In Brasil are very famous this power metal band
This is my favorite version of this song. When the darkness riff starts, I can't explain it but sounds amazing! Also the extra stuff that James does like his "No no no no!" I also like the transition from "oh God help me, hold my breath as I wish for death."
Just imagine being a member of the orchestra, day in and day out playing classical music. And then for one night, you get to let your hair down and trash it out with Metallica. I'd say that stands out in all of their careers!
i got this CD the time it was released and i still watch it on YT. Fu&k this has got to be the best live collaboration of all time…i miss Jason for them though 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Every time you're worried about fret buzz on your electric guitar, go listen to some Metallica live tracks with clean intros. You'll learn that it doesn't matter as much as you might think ;)
I was always sort of disapointed with the part at 5:12, the horn section (brass section?) kind of ruins it imo, thought it would have been better with just the string section in unison.
I know this is a v late reply, but totally disagree! I love that horn section so much that when I listen to the original I still hear it in my head playing over the top. The whole piece - no, the whole concert - is sheer genius.
Post Black Album Lars wasn't known to be very diligent when it came to practicing, but you can bet your a** he practiced more for this concert than the previous 8 years combined. As a disabled Veteran, I feel this whole song. The symphony adds something that makes this version hit deeper than the original.

A trick: watch movies on flixzone. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Luis Landry definitely, I have been using Flixzone for months myself :)
Man I could never understand
I read this while high on shrooms... and I laughed for 5 minutes, cause I assumed indirectly that he was black. and that makes me racist.
For Cliff Burton and his love of classical music
Nah. Classical is ass.

after this SM by metallica... it is so good, I can't even listen to the original visions anymore.
jacky Leung agree on that. Just phenomenal playing screw the haters none of them can play like this.

Yea and niether can the actual band themselves, lol. At least not anymore.
have you seen them recently. They kick ass.
Same, the fxcking modern heavy metal bands r taking over, so pretty much inaudible screaming

5:57 the best "No! No! No!" I have ever seen

Yeah if that doesn't make you feel anything you have to be pretty dead inside...absolutely brilliant!
Nils Jonsson well, i dont feel anything
cuz its like earlier james screams in kill em all
6:02 James is such a beast
His voice when screams "no no no!!!" is just epic.
Only Metallica could pull this off with a Orchestra and their music combined.
apparently you've never listened to prog-rock

@@MetalPersonJ not with a live orchestra.....
I disagree metal & classical are surprisingly similar.
James' vocals here are so intimate and Lars' playing so soulful, best version by far.
For some reason the Eb tuning makes this song way more emotional. I arguably like it more than when they played it in E tuning.
I think the symphony is making it more emotional
IMO Eb tuning makes everything more sad and emotional, so that's probably
That’s honestly with most songs I notice. Even songs where it’s in D tuning like Tool, I find it’s more emotional when it’s a half step down.
So thats why their classic songs always sound so different live…
