Your cousin walks into your room, he’s done with his first car amp. He throws it on your desk and says, there you go loser. It’s all scratched up, you don’t even have a car, you are 14. You have selected your first amplifier.
This information is extremely helpful. I've always appreciated Crutchfield and how much effort you guys put into making sure the customer makes an informed decision.
So helpful, thank you! I’ve just purchased 4 speakers,an amp and a sub from you guys. I really appreciate that you offer so much educational material and guidance. You’re a lot more than a store and it’s been a huge help. I’ve never done anything like this so the info is definitely needed
Great video. Very informative. I was thinking of just adding a single 12" or 2 -10" sub box. Nothing huge. So many options nowadays. When I was teenager we used home speakers in our trunks and Pawn Shop amplifiers. 😂
This is great, I love these tutorials. I'll keep watching them as long as yall keep making them! Let's see one on everything you sell! Crutchfield is the best
Really impressive video, this guy's speaking voice is great and there was clearly a script and production involved. I learned a lot that I might have tuned out for if the presenter and the information wasn't so clear and concise.
Thanks. That was great. I appreciated that your power recommendation for amps was conservative as many people think they need 1000W amps. Also, amps should be at or below the speaker ratings. So many people think that you need amps rated higher than the continuous RMS rating of the speakers.
Thats not true you actually want to have more rms power from the amp than the speakers because then you dont need to push the amp that hard to get the power needed but if you have amp with lower rms power you are more likely to push it too hard and break your amp or speakers
Nick your gonna blow amps by overworking them to push your speakers. These guys sell audio equipment. That's why they give the limited explanation they do. So you can buy more from them with the feeling that it's spent well instead of actually teaching you the truth.
@@josequilez5449 im wanting to buy 4 Sylvester’s rated at 130 rms with two extra tweeters , so should I get a 4 channel 140rms 4 ohm each channel or a 75 rms 4ohm 4 channels
I like those 2 white KRK Rokit speakers in the background. I used to have the black ones back when I had a mini home “music studio” in my closet. LOL. It was a walk in closet, so, yeah.
choose based on your financial capability. other than that, look at your car specifications like electrical system power (you might want to add additional battery and after that can consider power capacitors), so your audio system doesn't short your car electrical capacity even at max volume. you also better use 3x more powerful amp than your speaker RMS because most amplifier will start to produce more than 1% THD after more than 1/3 of total amp power. this is to ensure you can maintain your low distortion listening experience and not to be worried about harsher sound and even clipping your amplifier, as long as you set the small volume knob at 1/3. keep calibrate the amp according to the head unit spec so you can be sure it doesn't go more than the power threshold you've set. if the overall volume is too low, you can always compromise your sq for bigger sound but at higher THD anytime. but make sure the speaker RMS is matching if not more so to be on the safe side.
Hey Crutchfield, I've been going back in forth "trying to choose a AMPLIFIER(?)" so I don't waste money. My planned setup consist of: HU: Alpine ILX-W60 Frt Spkrs & Rr Speakers: Kicker 46CSC674 100 Watts RMS(300peakpower) Subwoofer: [2] 10" Kicker CompVR 43CVR102 •Dual 2ohm voice coils •100-300Watts 175per coil "WHICH AMPLIFIER DO YOU RECOMMEND & HOW SHOULD I CHANNEL IT?" Thanks!
Hi Arick! We can definitely help with that. What vehicle will that setup be going in? Do you prefer a single 5-channel amplifier or a separate 4-channel and mono amplifier?
@@crutchfield This setup is going into a Civic Sedan. I would prefer 1 single amplifier, but again I mentioned 2 10" Subs. Would that mean I would need a 6-channel in that case? Also I've been thinking worse case scenario, would I that cause me to possibly need a battery + alternator upgrade. Or should I just keep things simple with one 12" sub? And why? Thanks again!
The best design I can think of for powering 4 speakers and 2 subs is a 5 channel amp as the 5th channel typically outputs hundreds of watts. Given those speakers and the two subwoofers you listed, we do currently have an amp that is a very good match for them and both subwoofer being connected to the same channel. It's the Rockford Fosgate Power T1000X5ad amp found here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_575T1000X5/item.html
@@crutchfield ok thanks for that. I apologize for being so indecisive. But after researching the recommended amplifier, I now have a fear of the amplifier running hot. (1) If I were to split up the load instead of having everything on one amp. How should I setup(wire) my system. (*I would love to have a switch for my Amp) (2) Which Amplifier would be best for Series/Parallel wiring on [2] 10" DVC subs 700 watt peak? (3) Which wiring kits do I need for my system setup? (4)With the setup will I need to upgrade my battery and or Alternator? Thanks a lot for your help!!!
We do not have switches to turn amps on and off. The ones we sell are designed to be turned on when the radio turns on. We can build a shopping cart with all the wiring to complete the install. Typically, there is one power wire ran to the better that connects to a distribution block so that each amp can get power from that one main wire. Are you still referring to the Kicker 43CVR102 subwoofers? And the same Kicker speakers from your initial message? This installation can only be done in Civic's with regular engine system (no Hybrids). We do not anticipate that an extra battery or a higher output alternator will be needed based on the speakers you initially listed.
I have (jbl stadium gto 930) with 110w RMS And 330 peak per pair, and they support 96 db sensitivity with 2 ohm. Please suggest me a best amp plz................. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi Crutchfield. A few questions for you: 1) I currently have one X-12 V.2 D4 - Sundown Audio 12" 1500W RMS DVC 4-Ohm X V.2 Series Subwoofer in a custom ported enclosure tuned to 32 Hz. What monoblock amplifier do I need to provide sufficient quality power? 2) I eventually plan on adding a second Sundown Audio subwoofer for a total of two subwoofers, but that won't be for about 7-8 months from now. What monoblock amp do you recommend to power the 2 subwoofers previously mentioned?
Based on those specifications, we only offer one amp that can power two: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_57525001CP/item.html The single sub setup can be powered with an amp that gives it 70% of the top RMS power. That's the minimum we recommend for good performance. This means 1075 watts RMS is the minimum making this amp able to sufficiently power one sub: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_301HCP1DK/item.html
Hi, great video. I have JBL GTO 609C & JBL Club 622 speakers. Both are 3Ω impedance. (I guess you knew the detail) I'll hook it to aftermarket android radio. But afraid it would heat up without an amp. I'm about to put it on my old pickup truck. Which Amp do you think would be best for that? And I won't install a subwoofer. Thanks, cheers!😁
Thank you for the kind words, I am happy that you enjoyed our video. The JBL Club 622 speakers can handle a maximum of 60-watts RMS, and the Alpine S2-A36F in the link below provides 60-watts RMS per channel. It is a perfect match and has great sound quality! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc166/p_500S2A36F/Alpine-S2-A36F.html
go for the bigest you can afford! it is always good the have extra power in case you should decide to go for some thing big ! carstereo is a fun thing.. once you get into it, you just want more. when you feel that hard bass, you just feels so many emotions at the same time :D
Are watts equivalent to decibel values? If they are how many decibels would a 50 watt speaker with a 50 watt amplifier produce? Just wondering because I wouldn't want really quiet speakers.
Watts are not equivalent to decibels and there is a lot that comes into figuring out the loudest a system can play including the sensitivity of the speaker. Typically, that measurement is the decibel level give with 1 watt played and and standing 1 meter away. Each time that power is doubled (i.1. 1 x 2 = 2 watts, 2 x 2 = 4 watts, etc...), the maximum decibels go up by 3.
Hii, A great information on speakers and amplifier. I have already bought Infinity kappa 60 csx component speakers 6.5" for front doors. And no subwoofer planned. I need a perfect amplifier for that may be 2 channel. My speaker specs are Infinity Kappa 60CSX 6.5" 2-Way Component Speaker System (300 W 100 RMS). Kindly suggest best amplifier for it. thanks in advance.
Great video. I have a little different sce ario where my speakers are 2 ohm 75Wrms and the Head Unit is 25W per channel at 4 ohm. Is this putting at risk my head unit? If that is the case can I use a 4 ohm 600 amp to cover the need for power?? Thank you so much for your time!
Most head units are not able to support 2 ohm speakers. If the head unit can support 2 ohms, the owner's manual will list it. If your head unit is one that cannot support 2 ohms, that is likely to put the head unit at risk. We need to check the amp's watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms. The amp should output no more than 75 watts RMS at 2 ohms. If it does not exceed the 75 watts RMS at 2 ohms, then it will work with the speakers
Lets Say im looking to run a box thats sealed, and the sperate thats ported, both 12 in sub: should i buy two different amps or one? Im looking to give the sealed box more power, because im going with a stronger sub for the sealed box. I hope i explained that clearly If one amp is all thats needed, can that one amp control the two different subs separately? Is that feature called "the channel"? 😅😅😅 Sorry im new to all this
Hi Pierre, the best option will depend on the exact subs and specs. To verify, you want to power two subs total? What is the RMS power rating per sub. How many voice coils does each sub have? What is the impedance per coil? Thanks!
So in your opinion would 600 watts be ideal to power a complete setup with aftermarket radio. Two aftermarket tweeters, two door speakers, two rear deck and a 10” subwoofer?
Hi Red, sounds like you're building a great system! The best amp match will depend on the exact speaker/sub models and their specs. Do you have those handy?
Hai sir I purchased 2 pair of sony XS-162ES components which is the best 4 chanel amplifier to these speakers And also i have a one question these sony XS-162ES company mentioned on Box ( 90 w RMS power) (60 w Rated power) ( 270w peak power) is it watts for each speaker or 1 pair if two speakers😊
Hi Santhosh, great speaker choice! Each speaker handles 90 watts RMS. Do you have any brand or budget in mind for the amp? Will you be using an aftermarket radio with pre-outs?
Just bought a 1979 Ford Pinto Cruising Wagon, I want to put in some alpine brand audio equipment in it such as radio/video for back up camera, maybe some subs as well , where should I start ? I want to keep it simple and clean as well as cost efficient ,
The best place to start with an older model vehicle like this one is the radio and checking if a newer model can be installed. Is the dash still designed for a shaft style radio?
I have a Toyota FJ Cruiser it has 2 little mini tweeters in the headliner, I put Pioneer TS-A709`s in the dash, Pioneer TS- A6970F`s in the doors, Pioneer TS-A879`s in the pillars in the back and a factory subwoofer in the back. The factory system sounded pretty good before I blew the dash tweeters so I replaced them with the Pioneers and can barely hear them so I figure an amplifier paired with the factory radio should get all the speakers sounding off. What amps would you recommend to power my setup? Thank`s in advance for your help. If you supply the links then to show my appreciation I will buy from Crutchfield.
You can add an amplifier to increase the sound quality of your Pioneer speakers. The 4-channel Pioneer GM-DX874 below provides excellent power and is 2-ohm stable so it can drive a total of 8 4-ohm speakers! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc166/p_130GMDX874/Pioneer-GM-DX874.html
Great video sir!! I do have a question I have a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 single cab it’s my work truck but I am wanting to know what type of box for a 10in or 12in sub Would work best for that type of truck? Thank you
Based on the measurements of the available space behind the seats, there is room for either sized subwoofer in a sealed box. You may have an easier time finding premade 10" sub boxes to fit. If you are building your own box, then we recommend looking for shallow subwoofers.
Back in 1991 I tried a car audio system in one of specialty shops. It was a Soundstream amp and speakers with Alpine head unit. Best sound ever. I never liked Kenwood amps, they sounded flat. Rockford Fosgate Punch 150 was great. What's equivalent today? What speakers/amps have full, rich sound?
Are you running the Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP to power your JL 12W7AE-3 subs? If so, with the JL Audio subs you are able to reach an impedance of 1.5ohms, with each subwoofer being able to accept 1,000 watts RMS, since the Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP amp is going to deliver 2500 watts at 1ohm, you would be delivering more power to each subwoofer than they can safely accept. We do not recommend over powering any subwoofer, as it can lead to voiding any warranty you may have on the woofers. You would need to work with an amp that delivers 2000 watts RMS at 1ohm, to safely drive those subs. Feel free to contact us, we will be happy to assist you in finding the best amp for your application. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/contact
1. Which amp would be best for connecting 4 Jbl gto 609c Speakers (front 2 and rear 2)... 2. which subwoofer would be good choice considering the speaker and amp combo...
Hi Lakshmi, nice choice on the JBL speakers! Are you using an aftermarket radio with preouts? Do you like to tweak your sound quite a bit? Do you have a sub box? If so, what are the specs? If not, any fit restrictions? What types of music do you listen to most often?

I have a Can Am X3, want to install four 6.5" speakers (lets say 100w apiece) and an 8" subwoofer under the seat (not enough space to build a box big enough to accommodate a 10"). I really would prefer to use only ONE amplifier to accomplish this. What exactly do I need to look for in an amp? If a 6 channel, can four of the channels be @ 4 ohm and the bridged sub channel @ 2 ohms? Is that a thing? Also, in this set-up, should I get a single or dual voice coil sub? Once upon a time 30 years ago, we just hooked up whatever we had and it worked. I guess things get more complex when you're trying to do it correctly. LOL
Welcome back, Eric. :) The best amp match will depend on the speakers/sub you use and their specs. We'll be happy to recommend one. Do you have the 6.5" speakers and sub you mentioned above? Question: I recently picked up a SD 1200.4 thinking it was a 4 ohm version but found out it was the 2 ohm version. this DRASTICALLY changes the power per channel at each ohm variance. the speakers I want to push are 100 RMS but 250 PEAK. I can do 138 per channel running them each on their own channel (running 4 speakers all the same make/model)... one place tells me to run bridged and parallel. but if they exchange my amp for the 4 ohm version I would have 198 per channel at 4 ohm. I get others saying the current amp wont be enough, and yet others saying the current one will be to much in the video it talks about speakers having "Max RMS" and I get the 75-100% thing. but with the RMS having one rating and then my "peak" being a very different number... which rating do I use? and what wiring method would be best. I can exchange straight across for the other amp. should I get the other amp or stay with what I have and wire it in a specific way?
Your video was really informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. If you can help me out with some advice that would be great. I have got rockford fosgate P16 6" infront doors. P16 2 way in the rear doors all connected to a factory stereo with a 5 channel amp in Mitsubishi Outlander. Amp R2750X5 that is 750 watt rms. and the sub is a sealed enclosure of 200 rms rockford 12". Am not at all satisfied with the quality of the system and don't want to get it done from the same place again. I am lacking bass and the clerity of sound. Also I do not have much room for sub becuase its behind the third row. But I want Some serious bass to shake the car with clarity in speakers. WHat should I be upgrading? and what specs should I look for while upgrading?
If you can change to a ported subwoofer box setup, that will help. Also, find one that presents a 2 ohm load to that amp to get all the power it can give for a subwoofer. The clarity of the other speakers may be able to be increased depending on what was used to help get the audio from the stock system to the new amp. I recommend contacting an advisor to discuss these specifics and ideal changes to get a personal recommendation on gear to help with your goals. Thanks for the comment! You should be just fine running 700 watts RMS on that battery without any need for upgrades. What year is your truck? Do you have your eye on any particular amp/subs yet?? Also, to make everything work with the factory head unit you'll need one of these: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc384/p_161LC2IPRO/AudioControl-LC2i-PRO.html
This advice is different from everything I’ve heard so far in regards to matching speaker RMS with amp power. Formula here is not to exceed speaker RMS? But I’ve understood that you should have 50-100% more watts than your speakers RMS, running the amp at 60-70%? The system I’m putting together has four 120w RMS Alpine X-series speakers. So should I get the JL Audio RD-400 at 75 watts (fits the advice here) or the HD600 with 150 watts RMS? At 70%, the HD600 will be putting out 105 watts, plus my head unit’s 16, which is 121 watts which is about where my speakers are at. Any pros out there with guidance?
We have a policy of never suggesting amplifiers that overpower your speakers. We want to build you a system that performs and is reliable, and anytime you are overpowering your speakers maximum RMS wattage you are voiding your manufacturer's warranty, which we care about! With your system you will be sending a line-level RCA signal to the amplifier, and this will not add the amount of wattage from your head unit to the amount provided by the amplifier, you simply will not be relying on any power from your radio and using it solely as an audio source when connected to amplifiers.
We can check for options! What year model is your Gladiator? Does it have the Alpine Audio system in it? Also, what size screen does the stock radio have built into it?

Hi JR, you video was helpful and interesting. I have a 1954 Chevy truck, this car has never had a radio or stereo. I have a CD player that I would like to install with 2 Infinity 6532EX 6.5inch 165 watts peak speakers. Should I get an amp, would you recommend getting tweeters or a larger woofer ? any other suggestions ? Thank You PS My truck is still 6 Volt, I currently have a small 6v to 12V converter for a backup camera. What size power converter would I need to run this stereo system ?
An amp that is matched to the speakers never hurts the sound! But at this time, it is unknown if an amp is needed or should be installed to meet your goals. Infinity Reference speakers are super efficient and can give a lot of sound when being powered by a radio. For some, that is enough. You could try that first and then add an amp if you want more. As for adding a tweeter, that is not needed. Those speakers come with a tweeter built in. If the speaker will be installed into a lower location in the pickup, then you might consider changing to the REF-6530CX speakers as those will keep the sound balanced while also providing a separate tweeter that can be mounted higher in the pickup and help with the overall clarity of the audio. These speakers can be found here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_108R6530CM/item.html
Would an underpowered amp be an issue? Eg. Speaker RMS is 80w, but my amp is 50w RMS. Is it going to be a difference in upgrading amp to 75w RMS? Particularly if already happy with current volume listening level.
This depends on the speaker really. With most speakers (especially subwoofers) you'll want to use an amplifier that provides at least 75% of the RMS maximum wattage. Of course, with extremely efficient speakers (generally anything 90dB or higher) you can use amplifiers that are less than the RMS rating with great results. If your speakers are decently sensitive, a 50-watt RMS amplifier would provide excellent performance.
@@crutchfield Thank you so much for the response. The speakers I have are MAXIMO ULTRA 602 HE MKII with sensitivity of 94dB. I think this is why it should be fine. Thank you again. The subwoofer I have is Active and uses it's own separate amp.
That will depend on the speakers you choose. If you dont add an amp you want to get speakers with a high sensitivity rating. An amplifier will give you the best results in terms of sound quality, volume, and especially bass.
I have 4 JL Audio 10TW3-D8 subwoofers and I’m having a problem finding a amp that is sufficient to power them! Would you happen to have any recommendations on an amp and how to wire it so I can get the most out of my subwoofers? Thank you
You can wire those four dual 8-ohm voice coil subs in a parallel configuration to create a 1-ohm total load. Here's a 1-ohm stable mono amp from Rockford Fosgate that will work well with your JL subs: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc928/p_575R21200X/Rockford-Fosgate-R2-1200X1.html?tp=35834
Very nice video! I'm not so sure on your statement that states the amps rms power should be 1 for 1 with the speaker rms power. I tried that and was underwhelmed! My Joying 50 w rms hu was barely driving my JVC 50 W mid speakers. I added a 100 wrms Recoil amp and the sound blows the doors off the previous set!
50 Watt RMS is hard to come by from the amp built into a radio! That is, on average, the peak watts output by a radio. Which model Joying radio did you get?
@crutchfield It has a 15 amp fuse. So 200 x 4 may be a stretch. More like 150 x 4 equalling 37.5 per channel rms. It wasn't really driving the JVC 50wrms at all. It's hitting very hard now with the Recoil amp. Got me second guessing whether I want that JBL Basspro spare tire sub! Anyway, thank you for your response and content overall!
That Bluetooth option that you said for classic cars? Could that same system be used in a new cars? Also with the Bluetooth would that not need a deck anymore and my phone would just be all I need?
Yes, this same Bluetooth amp setup can be used in newer vehicles. You will not hear any of the audible alerts anymore including those from services like OnStar, etc... but as long as you are ok with that, then a Bluetooth amp and speaker setup can be installed
This is awesome But I have a question? If you need about 400 watts for your subs. This might sound like a rookie question because I am a rookie... Can you use 2 subs 200 watts each or doesn't it work like that? So is 2 * 200 watt equal to 1*400watt?
You are on the right track in knowing that you should make sure the amp can output the total RMS watts handled by all the subs when added together. And then make sure the amp outputs that power at the combined ohm for the subs when they are wired together. We have an article that can help explain this more in-depth: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/learn/how-to-match-subwoofers-and-amplifiers.html And we have advisors that you can call to get a personal recommendation on an amp to power your two subwoofers. Here's how to reach us for this help: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/support/ContactUs.aspx
I would suggest 1* 400w sub. This sub will be able to handle a lot more than those 2* 200w. If you come across a more powerful amp, good quality subs will be able to handle even the double the power or higher. 200w subwoofer tens to bottom out much quicker than 400w.
What is the best amplifier to get to power my TRF LWT693 (80w rms) speakers and KENWOOD KSC-W1200B(300w rms) subwoofer from the Pioneer MVH-S420BT radio?? I’m lost
Hi Damon! The answer to that question would depend on the speakers you were planning to use. Using an amplifier to power component speakers is not always necessary, but it is the most ideal solution. An outboard amp will be able to power your speakers with greater efficiency, and improve your sound quality of your upgraded speakers. What amp do I need? Will it power all speakers if I go 5 channel, or do two speakers power off head unit leaving other 4 and sub powered off of 5 channel amp? What if I wanted to add two speakers to the rear doors?
I recently installed 4 pioneer 4 way coaxial speakers in my 2011 P7B crown Victoria - the speakers are 80 watts RMS and 4 ohm. What should I get for an amplifier and stereo combo should I get for the best performance??
I got a Kenwood Apple ready stereo that plays dvd 📀. I have ford factory speakers (4). I would like all speakers and a subwoofer installed. Do I need the 5 channel, because of the 4 speakers and sun? Is asylum “the big one” good ?
Awesome video but I have a couple questions. I bought component front speakers because I had tweeters up front and rear non componet speakers for my 2020 tacoma. I want to add a sub later after I add an amp. Would I need a 7 channels to drive them all? Also the rear speakers are 100 watts RMS and the fronts are 150, should I just go with 100 W RMS? Honestly if you could suggest an amp that will fit under my driver seat that would be awesome too. Thank you for the awesome video.
Hi Kevin! For your amp addition, you would need to use either a 5 channel amp to power all of your speakers, and a sub. hello good evening how are you doing Crutchfield I hope you guys are doing great!! i have a question! For my 2007 Toyota corolla sport what kind of amplifier would be good ? an im going to buy the Jensen CAR8000 radio an a backup camera Boyo VTL17LTJ im going to purchase all of this at once an i want to get the correct amplifier what do you guys recommend!!
I want to power my aftermarket door speakers, tweeters and super tweeters in my truck. The speakers is 35 rms.The Super tweeters is 200W max power,And the tweeters is 350w maximum music power. What size amp should i get with the right channel and rms..Hope you can understand my poor English
Great video, really helpful. I'm planning a car audio build and I'm looking at an Alpine 5 channel amp to power four 40 watt 4ohm speakers and two 200watt 2ohm DVC subwoofers. The amp has 4 channels with 40watts at 4 ohms and 1 channel with 300watts at 2ohms. If I run the subs in parallel/serial the impedance will match the amp's 2ohms but the amp would only be supplying 75% of the subs required 400 watts. I was told by a local shop that underpowering the subs like this will damage the subs and overheat the amp. However, in this video, you said, "you should strive to be within 75% to 100% of the subwoofer power". Do you think this setup would be OK? I realise what I'm looking at would be at the lower limit but I'm not looking for a loud system, just better quality. Thanks in advance.
this would work just fine! The problems can arise if you A) turn your gains up ( Gain is not a volume knob) and B) run your amp at full blast for a long time. this can stress out the amp over time. Now, 75% of the RMS power should be ok for your subs, any lower and you could risk there being a loss of control of the cones which can lead to flexing, distortion, and stress on both the cones and the coils.
I've 8000$ budget What should I buy to make my 2016 Ford Explorer sound better? I love more bass. Since I dislike the factory door speakers may I change them. If so, which one to choose (link).
With that budget, I expect you will be able to replace the speakers along with any other gear too. We have a lot of choices to give may different sounds. I recommend contacting an advisor to discuss all your preferences and goals to get a personal recommendation on a new system. Question: I have an aftermarket head unit with 180 watts RMS (45 watts x 4 speakers 4Ω) and I am considering adding an amplifier to power the Alpine RS69.2 6x9" speakers in the rear of my classic car which have 100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power). For this setup, should I be looking at 2-channel amps with 100 watts RMS x 2?
@Crutchfield Hello, For a combination of speakers Sony XS-162ES at front & XS-160ES at rear, which is a suitable amplifier among XM-GS4 or XM-4ES? I require to get crystal clear sound only with some good bass. I am NOT looking for very loud sound. What are the extra things to get from XM-4ES over XM-GS4, is it only loudness or the output is far better in terms of clarity? Is it worth the price if I install XM-4ES or XM-GS4 will meet my requirements? Please let me know. Thanks!
thanks for the video i want upgrade my sound system in my old w124 mercedes in the front will be 2x 12cm speakers 75rms and in the rear 2x 16cm 80rms , can you tell me or recommend a good amp for this type of config please :) powered by alpine ute200bt
A 4 channel amp would be perfect to power them. What are the ohms of the speakers? If each one is 4 ohms, then an amp like the Rockford Fosgate Punch P600X4 works. It can be found here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_575P600X4/item.html
I'm getting head unit that states it has a "high power amp" 2-channel preamp outputs (2.5-volt rear/subwoofer). 4 6x8 3-way speakers that are "Peak: 700 watts per pair / 350 watts each | RMS: 70 watts per pair / 35 watts each" FR=28-22,000Hz, sensitivity 92db and impedance 4ohm. A 4 channel 400w class D full range 2ohm Amplifier. And later on, adding 2 8"subs in a box that I will most likely have to build to fit my regular cab Ford ranger. Not trying to dump a lot of money into this truck and I'm not trying to rock the block or deform my cab. My questions are... Does it sound like this gear will work alright together? Is this amp overkill for the 4 speakers and can I add the subs to this amp later or will I need a mono amp for them? Any advice on gear selection or wiring is appreciated. Especially if it's specific to regular cab trucks, it's tight in there.
great content !! i still on the stock speakers in my car but i was thinking of getting new speakers for better sound im woundering which amp would be perfect for my bmw f20 116i, 4 speakers 1 subwoofer. best regards

I am looking to replace a factory head unit and amp with aftermarket. The factory amp powers tweeters on dash, speakers in each of 4 doors and subwoofer. Is there an amp designed that would allow connection to these speakers? Would prefer not to have to install crossovers as well.
Hi John, sounds like you're planning a nice upgrade! What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle? Is there a specific head unit you're planning to use? What are the specs on your new speakers?
@@crutchfield The car is 2012 C5 Citroen. I was looking to replace the failed factory head unit with an Android one (at 20% of cost!). I realise it is not optimal, but I would like to retain factory speakers since it would be difficult removing/replacing them.
I'm sorry, we have not researched that vehicle. In general though, it's best to maintain the factory amp for power for factory speakers since they are matched power/impedance wise.
I’ve replaced factory speakers with db drive ES5 6C on the factory radio without adding amplifier. I don’t like the sound result and got to know to find an amp for this. Could you help recommend an amp to handle those speakers to produce powerful, nice and clean sound. My car is 2020 Suzuki Swift.
Those are the specifications I found on it along with them being 4 ohm speakers. All this means the Kenwood KAC-5207 amp is an excellent choice for powering them. You can find this amp here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_113KAC5207/item.html
This will depend on the speakers and the amp. You could either way! For more in depth help, I'd advise getting in touch with one of our advisors! bit.ly/2KP1zS3
Most aftermarket speakers will perform well without an external amp. But with a separate aftermarket amp powering them, you can expect better overall clarity and stronger volume levels.
Hello! I'm a new subscriber & was wondering if you could give me advice on selecting the right amplifier to power up my speakers. I have the Polk Audio DB692 & DB652 along with the pioneer TS-WX1010A. Also,, I been debating between which installation wiring kit to get/run, "4 or 8 gauge"? Please help & thank you for your time, Rich.
You are looking for an amp that runs about 100 watts RMS x5, and I would recommend a 4 gauge wiring kit. One of our advisors would love to help you explore your options: bit.ly/2KP1zS3
I have planned to install 2 compinents in front and 2 components in the rear and a Underseat sub wooofer to a stock head unit. I will list the products required for the upgrade please confirm if thats enough or if i need more: 1. 4 component speakers 2. Underseat sub 3. Hi-Low convertor for stock head unit 4. 4 channel amplifier for 4 components 5. 8 gauge ofc cable for wiring amp Is that it or do i need more?? Thanks in advance
Sounds like you're planning a get setup! The exact wiring match will depend on the exact sub and 4-channel amp you use. Do you have specific models in mind?
For sub im planning to go with alpine pwe-s800 underseat subwoofer For 4 channel amp: either soundmagnus or kenwood Components: for front infinity kappa 60csx and for rear infinity reference 6530cxf
Thanks for these videos. I spent time with one of your customer service guys and he was very helpful. I have no issues with the speaker install...just concerned about the amp install. Any advice?
Hello i have a question.....I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze . I am replacing all 4 doors speakers with (kicker-6 3/4 with 240 watts peak) and i'am trying to install 2 6x9 Rockford fosgate 3-way Coaxel single (4 OHM) 130 watts peak (65W RMS) on the rear deck...mind you the vehicle when i bought it didn't come with rear speakers or(wiring) and no holes were made on the panel only on the main base of the vehicle. So i'am trying to figure what type of amp should i get to support these speakers along in the future if i wanted to add a sub also. Thank you in advance for any help.
It sounds like you're going to be running a total of 6 speakers. Do you know what model Kicker and Rockford Fosgate speakers those are? We want to match the speakers to the amp based on the rms power and not the peak power. Also are you using your stock radio or an aftermarket radio with this set up?
Hey there. I like your videos. I'm currently trying to find the best kit or set up for my husband's Honda accord. He's on deployment now and I wanted to gift him with some really nice amps and speakers. He loves bass when he listens to his music. He had plans on putting 4 12' in his trunk. What could you recommend for this vehicle?

What would be an ideal amplifier for a 2009 nissan altima (default radio system no bose) i am supposed to get this car in a few months and i wanted to redo the whole system. What would be the best $250 subwoofer? And a good seperate amplifier to power specifically that sub (i prefer a 12 inch dual sub system)
I actually prefer this. I always over power my speakers by 20-50 extra. This allows you to push the speakers with less strain on your head unit and amp reducing heat and chance of clipping by having to turn up the stereo or amp gain too high to get the loud volume your wanting. Wattage scales with how much sound is coming out so if just guitar is playing you will have less watts being pushed verse when the bass hits will push more watts, a spike. So even though you have 100 watt amp on 80 watt speakers, unless yoir full blast, your probably only pushing 30-60 watts and 80ish when bass hits. Speakers are also always underrated a little. Clipping is your #1 enemy, so the more power you have the less you turn up that volume and gain causing clipping, which is what will blow your speakers fast. But for safety of your systems, if your careless, follow the guide that Crutchfield provided.
If those are RMS power ratings, the speakers will be over driven, wear our faster than they should, and may even give distorted sound. If that is peak power ratings, the RMS watts for each is needed to check.
It is possible that this can work and will depend on the gear being used. Do you already have the speakers, tweeters, and/or amp? If you do, what are the brands and models of the gear you have now?
probably goping with the rockford fosgate p142 4" speakers, going to have 4 of them eventually but for now only 2, which amp would be a great pair for that? and which kit? this stuff is so confusing for a noob like me.
Hi Josh, the Rockford Fosgate Punch P142s are great speakers! Are you looking to add them to a specific vehicle? Will you be using an aftermarket radio with pre-outs?
@@crutchfield yes I have a pioneer deh-s31bt for now. I ordered the speakers already they just arrived today I can't wait to test them out. Next step is an Amp, I may end up getting a small sub aswell and another pair of speakers eventually
Thanks, Josh. With their 30 RMS power rating, an aftermarket radio is the best power match. You may want to consider upgrading the radio instead with something with a bit more power output. If you opt to go that route, we can get you something with a sub pre-out so you'll be set to add the sub amp later. What other features would you need? What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?
Awesome video mate! What amplifier and parts would I need for a 2001 Toyota Corolla. I have 2 speakers in the front doors and have put 4 in the very back of the cat
Thanks, Samuel. We're happy to recommend an amp. Do you have the speaker models or specs? We'll need that info to recommend an amp to match. Will you be using an aftermarket radio with pre outs?
@@crutchfield the front ones are stock however the rear ones are 4” Sony speakers with a serial number of XS-GTF1039 and the other set at the rear are 6x9 JBL’s
We do not recommend connecting stock speakers to an aftermarket amp. Those Sony speakers can handle up to 30 watts RMS. Which model JBL 6x9 speakers do you have installed?
Hey I really hope you see this ice currently got 2 150w 4omb audio pipe ts-cvr6 woofer speakers and an old 360w sub woofer speaker that I had from an old stereo. Now what I want to do is combine them and hook them up to my pc but I'm not sure what to look for in my amplifier
We will be happy to help and have a few questions so we can make sure you get an amp that will work. What is the brand/model of the older subwoofer? We need to know some of its specifications to endure a proper power match to the amp. Also, does your computer have the ability to output only bass audio through any of its ports? If it does, what type of port will that bass be output on?
I have a 91' honda civic I replaced the door speakers with 'Kicker 100 watts, size 6.5 speakers, RMS(I gotta check the box again) I want to know if I can run a different brand amplifier on my 'Kicker' Speakers or does everything have to be same Brand if that matters??
There won't be any compatibility issues going with a different brand for the amp than the speaker brand. The important thing is just making sure that the amp is a good power match for the specific speakers.
If the subwoofer installed already has a “Class D Amplifier” built into it like the Kenwood KSC-PSW8, can I install a separate amplifier just to power the 4 speakers, without connecting it to the subwoofer at all?
Great video I just got a 22w x4 channel car audio reciever and i have two 100 w rms pioneer speakers the sound has some distortion when i turn up the volume near to 35to 40 do i need an amp to fix that or what is the proplem ?
This does sound like a power issue. More power will help you get cleaner sound and even louder sound. So you don't have to turn the radio up so much which helps reduce distortion.
We don't carry Nakamichi but it a great brand. One that I would recommend for your 100 watt rms speakers and to be able to hear their full potential would be this Rockford Fosgate amp www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc974/p_575T400X4A/Rockford-Fosgate-Power-T400X4ad.html?tp=35782. It's a clean and efficient class AD amp with the full 100 watts rms to make your speakers shine!
If you only need a 2 channel amplifier and not a 4 channel amp like the Rockford Fosgate, this is another great option www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc974/p_575P300X2/Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P300X2.html?tp=35757. Ideally you need an amp that's outputting around 75-100 watts rms for 100 watt rms speakers.
So lets say I get a 4 channel amp (for my speakers) or a 5 channel amp (for speakers and sub), Do i have to individually wire the amp to every single speaker I want amplified? or is there a way to just make one connection somewhere and have the factory wiring do the job?
As long as the new amp does not exceed 75 watts RMS per channel, you can reuse the stock speaker wire. Often all the speaker wiring will come together in the dash if the radio is powering the speakers. Or all the speakers wiring comes together at the stock amp location if there is one installed powering all the speakers. But there are vehicles which sometimes have a few speakers powered by the radio and a few powered by an amp. This last system design will require running additional wire for at least some of the speakers. We can check your system. What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?
We thought it might be but wanted to be thorough. You will need to access the stock wiring at a couple different locations. There is a factory amp that powers the speakers. It is located above the passenger's kickpanel. There are also a couple outboard passive crossovers that divide the front channel frequencies and send them to the front door woofers and tweeters. Those crossovers must also be bypassed or they will impact the sound you get from the new speakers. The left front door crossover module is located behind the driver's knee panel. The right front door crossover module is located below the radio. So your best option is to access the wiring at the amp but be ready to run a couple lengths of speaker wire from that amp location to the crossover locations
Hello, I'm confused between JL JD400/4 or Alpine S2 A36F and both are class D 4 channel amps that i will be buying for my Blam relax component and Coax speakers
What has got you confused? I think both are solid 4-channel amps, with the JL Audio JD400/4 delivering a slight bit more wattage. What is the maximum RMS rating that your Blam Relax speakers can handle? Most that I saw on their site can handle around 75-watts rms, so the JL could be a solid call!
There is a good possibility that there is an amp made today that is smaller and uses less power to create the same amount of watts as an from 2005. What is the brand and model of your amp?
We should be able to get you comparable power. What are you wanting to wire up to the new amp specifically? Do you have a specific amount of space available for placement?
I drive a 2005 Honda DX & replaced head unit with Sony Mex-4300BT & have two CS series 6x5's in front & another CS series 6x9's in back, I don't want a subwoofer, just clear loud music for my car, which amp would I need? 6x5's are 300 watt peak & 100 RMS?
You want to match the amp up to the speakers based on the RMS of the speakers. Since the 6x9's can handle a little more power than the 6.5" we'll want to match the amp up to these based on 6.5" speakers. We want to stay away from overpowering speakers which can lead to electrical complications. My recommendation would be something like the JBL Stadium 4 which outputs 100 watts rms to each speakers. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc974/p_109STAD4M/JBL-Stadium-4.html?tp=35782
Trying to find a amp to power 4 kicker cs 6.5 door speakers any recommendations have a aftermarket dasaita android head unit with rca connection in back
Typically, that series speaker can handle 75-100 watts RMS with their current model, the 46CSC654 handling up to 100 watts RMS and working well with this amp: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_109STAD4M/item.html
Hi, I am looking to install a couple subs and amp into a stock radio of my 2019 jeep wrangler. I bought 2 Kicker 43TC104 10 inch subs already enclosed. They are 150 watts RMS @ 4 ohm each. What would be the best amp for those to give good bass and sound. What should I look for in an amp to support both subs. Thanks for your help.
You’re gonna need something around 300w RMS give or take If you want to play it safe get a 250 rms amp and run the speakers in Parallel that way your amp won’t blow the speakers up But you’re a little savvy you can get a 350w rms amp and run the speakers at 300 rms If you’re running your factor radio I recommend running a LOC (line out converter) recoil makes a good one for around $20 but pretty much any of them can do
Eduardo's recommendations are spot on! Kicker makes an amp that is a perfect match for those subs. It is the 46CXA400.1T found here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_20646CX41T/item.html
So what kind of amp is needed to power one set of two ohm front speakers and a pair of 4 ohm rear door speakers at the same time? Does it just have to be 2 ohm stable so to speak? Or do you have to use two different amps?

Please help me out sir. I am very confused and cant decide which spec amp and woofer should i buy for maximum bass. I am from Pakistan and here the best subwoofer is Pioneer s4 and d4. Some people told me that single coil Pioneer s4 has better sound. But i dont know what should be the RMS and impedance of subwoofer according to amp. I only have 4 speakers with Rated Power 90W each. Please guide me what should be the specs of subwoofer and amp for maximum bass? My car is Honda City 2005 model. I am very confused and price variations are too much big in amplifiers. Cant decide. Please guide.
Amplifiers should be putting out the RMS power that subwoofer is rated for ( 70-100%) at the impedance that the subwoofer is. a 400 watt RMS 2-ohm sub wants 140-200 watts RMS from an amp. The amp should put that RMS power out when running at 2-ohms.
I want to power some Ground Zero speakers on my Harley and there is no RMS. The power handling listed is 100-250watts. Should I pair an amp @100 watts or is 150/175/200 watt per channel sufficient?
We are not familiar with Ground Zero speakers to know them. Setting that aside and looking at the format of the information, it typically refers to RMS watts with a minimum of 100 per channel and no more than 250 per channel. Technically, any of the amps you describe can work with the speakers but its always recommended to avoid the bare minimum when possible so the speakers can become more lively.
I have inputted 4 components JBL GTO 609 in front and back seat and Under-seat I got Alpine Subwoofer ! Planning to go for 4channel amplifier .. could you please help which one should be good to go.. can you suggest me the best with model name . JBL Infinity Alpine Pioneer
Your cousin walks into your room, he’s done with his first car amp. He throws it on your desk and says, there you go loser. It’s all scratched up, you don’t even have a car, you are 14. You have selected your first amplifier.

Great video. Very informative. I was thinking of just adding a single 12" or 2 -10" sub box. Nothing huge. So many options nowadays. When I was teenager we used home speakers in our trunks and Pawn Shop amplifiers. 😂

This video was absolutely helpful! This cleared up everything for me and I know it did for others.. Thank you!
choose based on your financial capability.
other than that, look at your car specifications like electrical system power (you might want to add additional battery and after that can consider power capacitors), so your audio system doesn't short your car electrical capacity even at max volume.
you also better use 3x more powerful amp than your speaker RMS because most amplifier will start to produce more than 1% THD after more than 1/3 of total amp power. this is to ensure you can maintain your low distortion listening experience and not to be worried about harsher sound and even clipping your amplifier, as long as you set the small volume knob at 1/3.
keep calibrate the amp according to the head unit spec so you can be sure it doesn't go more than the power threshold you've set. if the overall volume is too low, you can always compromise your sq for bigger sound but at higher THD anytime. but make sure the speaker RMS is matching if not more so to be on the safe side.
Hey Crutchfield, I've been going back in forth "trying to choose a AMPLIFIER(?)" so I don't waste money. My planned setup consist of:
HU: Alpine ILX-W60
Frt Spkrs & Rr Speakers: Kicker 46CSC674
100 Watts RMS(300peakpower)
Subwoofer: [2] 10" Kicker CompVR 43CVR102
•Dual 2ohm voice coils
•100-300Watts 175per coil
"WHICH AMPLIFIER DO YOU RECOMMEND & HOW SHOULD I CHANNEL IT?"
Thanks!
It's the Rockford Fosgate Power T1000X5ad amp found here:

@@crutchfield ok thanks for that. I apologize for being so indecisive. But after researching the recommended amplifier, I now have a fear of the amplifier running hot.
(1) If I were to split up the load instead of having everything on one amp. How should I setup(wire) my system. (*I would love to have a switch for my Amp)
(2) Which Amplifier would be best for Series/Parallel wiring on
[2] 10" DVC subs 700 watt peak?
Crutchfield is my favorite audio source!
Awwww thanks! We try to do out best!

Based on those specifications, we only offer one amp that can power two:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_57525001CP/item.html
The single sub setup can be powered with an amp that gives it 70% of the top RMS power. That's the minimum we recommend for good performance. This means 1075 watts RMS is the minimum making this amp able to sufficiently power one sub:

Hi, great video.
I have JBL GTO 609C & JBL Club 622 speakers. Both are 3Ω impedance. (I guess you knew the detail)
I'll hook it to aftermarket android radio.

@ Thank you for the advice. 😉
You're welcome! 🙂
Man, fot a DIY person, you've just made me rethink a lot 😮
Sounds like the video is helping you? Is there anything else we can do to help you with choosing the right amp?
go for the bigest you can afford! it is always good the have extra power in case you should decide to go for some thing big !
carstereo is a fun thing.. once you get into it, you just want more. when you feel that hard bass, you just feels so many emotions at the same time :D
I hope i explained that clearly
If one amp is all thats needed, can that one amp control the two different subs separately? Is that feature called "the channel"? 😅😅😅 Sorry im new to all this
Hi Pierre, the best option will depend on the exact subs and specs. To verify, you want to power two subs total? What is the RMS power rating per sub. How many voice coils does each sub have? What is the impedance per coil? Thanks!
@@crutchfield I'll check on them and chime back
Voice coil, Impedance and RMS?
You got it! We pair amps specifically to those details and can suggest a good option for you, just let us know!
Hai sir
I purchased 2 pair of sony XS-162ES components which is the best 4 chanel amplifier to these speakers
And also i have a one question these sony XS-162ES company mentioned on Box
( 90 w RMS power)
(60 w Rated power)
( 270w peak power)
is it watts for each speaker or 1 pair if two speakers😊
Hi Santhosh, great speaker choice! Each speaker handles 90 watts RMS. Do you have any brand or budget in mind for the amp? Will you be using an aftermarket radio with pre-outs?
Just bought a 1979 Ford Pinto Cruising Wagon,
I want to put in some alpine brand audio equipment in it such as radio/video for back up camera, maybe some subs as well , where should I start ?

@@crutchfieldThank you!!
Am I able to use a 4 channel amp on for two speakers, just using two channels and leave the other two channels free for now? Thanks
yea you’ll be fine
Indeed you can!
Crutchfield I have a serious question when it comes to sub is it safe to put a 2500 watt Fosgate cpbd amp on 2 JL Audio W7 12-inch Subs???

I get others saying the current amp wont be enough, and yet others saying the current one will be to much
in the video it talks about speakers having "Max RMS" and I get the 75-100% thing. but with the RMS having one rating and then my "peak" being a very different number... which rating do I use? and what wiring method would be best.

I want to add 2 10” subs that are rated at 350W RMS each. 700 rms total. Didn’t want to have to upgrade to a bigger alternator or battery if need be. What would you recommend I get? Also, it is going in a Toyota Tundra Crewmax so space is somewhat limited. I haven’t changed the stock head unit.

Thank You
PS My truck is still 6 Volt, I currently have a small 6v to 12V converter for a backup camera.
These speakers can be found here:

@@mauriciocano8245 my factory system had a amp its a bose system
@@jfaze401 I think your speakers should work great then! Definitely get another opinion though so you can be more certain!
You're welcome, Martin. Happy listening!
This is awesome
But I have a question?
If you need about 400 watts for your subs. This might sound like a rookie question because I am a rookie...
Can you use 2 subs 200 watts each or doesn't it work like that?
So is 2 * 200 watt equal to 1*400watt?
You are on the right track in knowing that you should make sure the amp can output the total RMS watts handled by all the subs when added together. And then make sure the amp outputs that power at the combined ohm for the subs when they are wired together. We have an article that can help explain this more in-depth:

I would suggest 1* 400w sub. This sub will be able to handle a lot more than those 2* 200w. If you come across a more powerful amp, good quality subs will be able to handle even the double the power or higher. 200w subwoofer tens to bottom out much quicker than 400w.
What is the best amplifier to get to power my TRF LWT693 (80w rms) speakers and KENWOOD KSC-W1200B(300w rms) subwoofer from the Pioneer MVH-S420BT radio?? I’m lost
We'll be glad to recommend an amp for power. How many of the speakers do you have? How many subs?
Would I need to get a higher channel amplifier if I’m using component speakers rather than ‘all in one’ type speakers?
Hi Damon!
The answer to that question would depend on the speakers you were planning to use.
Using an amplifier to power component speakers is not always necessary, but it is the most ideal solution. An outboard amp will be able to power your speakers with greater efficiency, and improve your sound quality of your upgraded speakers.

For your amp addition, you would need to use either a 5 channel amp to power all of your speakers, and a sub.
Or you could also use a 4 channel amplifier and a mono block amp for your subwoofer addition.

Hello,
For a combination of speakers Sony XS-162ES at front & XS-160ES at rear, which is a suitable amplifier among XM-GS4 or XM-4ES?
I require to get crystal clear sound only with some good bass. I am NOT looking for very loud sound.
What are the extra things to get from XM-4ES over XM-GS4, is it only loudness or the output is far better in terms of clarity?
Is it worth the price if I install XM-4ES or XM-GS4 will meet my requirements?
Please let me know. Thanks!
They are both excellent amps. The Sony XM-GS4 is the ideal power match for both sets of speakers.

i want upgrade my sound system in my old w124 mercedes in the front will be 2x 12cm speakers 75rms and in the rear 2x 16cm 80rms , can you tell me or recommend a good amp for this type of config please :)

A 4 channel amp would be perfect to power them. What are the ohms of the speakers? If each one is 4 ohms, then an amp like the Rockford Fosgate Punch P600X4 works. It can be found here:

@@crutchfield thanks for advice.
Anytime! 🙂
I'm getting head unit that states it has a "high power amp" 2-channel preamp outputs (2.5-volt rear/subwoofer).
4 6x8 3-way speakers that are "Peak: 700 watts per pair / 350 watts each | RMS: 70 watts per pair / 35 watts each"
FR=28-22,000Hz, sensitivity 92db and impedance 4ohm.
More information is needed on the gear to check its compatibility. Which brand/model amp are you referring to?
great content !!
i still on the stock speakers in my car but i was thinking of getting new speakers for better sound
im woundering which amp would be perfect for my bmw f20 116i, 4 speakers 1 subwoofer.

We can help recommend an amp that will power those speakers. Did you get a set for the front and rear of the Suzuki?
Crutchfield I changed only for the front doors. The speaker itself has 190W for sure and 85 RMS if I am not wrong for a piece.
Those are the specifications I found on it along with them being 4 ohm speakers. All this means the Kenwood KAC-5207 amp is an excellent choice for powering them. You can find this amp here:

Hi, great video -
If i get two speakers and two tweeters for my fiet doblo (2 in front), will i have to get a 4 channel amp or just 2?
This will depend on the speakers and the amp. You could either way! For more in depth help, I'd advise getting in touch with one of our advisors! bit.ly/2KP1zS3
Will that still have an improvement if I only upgrade the four speakers in the car without any external amp?
Most aftermarket speakers will perform well without an external amp. But with a separate aftermarket amp powering them, you can expect better overall clarity and stronger volume levels.
Hello! I'm a new subscriber & was wondering if you could give me advice on selecting the right amplifier to power up my speakers. I have the Polk Audio DB692 & DB652 along with the pioneer TS-WX1010A. Also,, I been debating between which installation wiring kit to get/run, "4 or 8 gauge"? Please help & thank you for your time, Rich.

@@crutchfield actually 100 to 125 rms x 4
I have planned to install 2 compinents in front and 2 components in the rear and a Underseat sub wooofer to a stock head unit. I will list the products required for the upgrade please confirm if thats enough or if i need more:
1. 4 component speakers
2. Underseat sub
3. Hi-Low convertor for stock head unit
4. 4 channel amplifier for 4 components
5. 8 gauge ofc cable for wiring amp
Is that it or do i need more??
Thanks in advance
Sounds like you're planning a get setup! The exact wiring match will depend on the exact sub and 4-channel amp you use. Do you have specific models in mind?
For sub im planning to go with alpine pwe-s800 underseat subwoofer
For 4 channel amp: either soundmagnus or kenwood
Components: for front infinity kappa 60csx and for rear infinity reference 6530cxf
Thanks for these videos. I spent time with one of your customer service guys and he was very helpful. I have no issues with the speaker install...just concerned about the amp install. Any advice?
You're welcome, Gary. Do you need help choosing an amp or help with your installation?
So if I replace my 2 tweeters, 2 front door speakers, and 2 rear door speakers what channel amp would that be?
Exactly. And should I use 2 amps if I wanna do all my speakers and 2 subs or what cause I’m lost here
Most likely, a 4 channel amp will work but it truly depends on the speakers being installed. Which models are you referring to?
@@crutchfield I have 4 kicker cs 6.5 speakers and kicker tweeters
What would be an ideal amplifier for a 2009 nissan altima (default radio system no bose) i am supposed to get this car in a few months and i wanted to redo the whole system. What would be the best $250 subwoofer? And a good seperate amplifier to power specifically that sub (i prefer a 12 inch dual sub system)
Are you also going to upgrade the factory speakers? If so, do you want the new amp to also power the speakers or just the subwoofers?
well, let say I have 80W speaker, and I hooked it with 125W amplifier channel; what will happen ?
Thanks for the video but could I power 4 door speakers and 2 tweeters with a 4 channel amp?
Yes you can amplify the speakers separately from a powered subwoofer!
Great video
I just got a 22w x4 channel car audio reciever and i have two 100 w rms pioneer speakers the sound has some distortion when i turn up the volume near to 35to 40 do i need an amp to fix that or what is the proplem ?
This does sound like a power issue. More power will help you get cleaner sound and even louder sound. So you don't have to turn the radio up so much which helps reduce distortion.
@@crutchfield what woud be the suitable amp wattage ? And is nakamichi brand is good ?
@@crutchfield 2008 Honda Accord V6 EXL, No navigation, Dual climate controls.
With a factory installed subwoofer?
@@crutchfield Correct
I have amps from 2005. Does the new amps perform better? Use less energy, saves space?
There is a good possibility that there is an amp made today that is smaller and uses less power to create the same amount of watts as an from 2005. What is the brand and model of your amp?
Rockford Fosgate Punch P1200.2
I used them to power a pair of infinity kappa 12" subs, in a sealed box.
Hey Crutchfield! Would a Sony XMN502 be a good amp to match my JBL CS1200WSI sub?
It will work; but, the sub is rated for 300 RMS, so more power will get you even better sound/performance.
So how would you buy the right amp if in my case ???
front dash speakers 50 rms
Doors 150 rms
Rear 100 rms
That may not be difficult to power... What are the ohms of each speaker?
Trying to find a amp to power 4 kicker cs 6.5 door speakers any recommendations have a aftermarket dasaita android head unit with rca connection in back
Typically, that series speaker can handle 75-100 watts RMS with their current model, the 46CSC654 handling up to 100 watts RMS and working well with this amp:

Hi, I am looking to install a couple subs and amp into a stock radio of my 2019 jeep wrangler. I bought 2 Kicker 43TC104 10 inch subs already enclosed. They are 150 watts RMS @ 4 ohm each. What would be the best amp for those to give good bass and sound. What should I look for in an amp to support both subs. Thanks for your help.
You’re gonna need something around 300w RMS give or take
If you want to play it safe get a 250 rms amp and run the speakers in Parallel that way your amp won’t blow the speakers up
But you’re a little savvy you can get a 350w rms amp and run the speakers at 300 rms
If you’re running your factor radio I recommend running a LOC (line out converter) recoil makes a good one for around $20 but pretty much any of them can do
Eduardo's recommendations are spot on! Kicker makes an amp that is a perfect match for those subs.
