    In this video we look at cell division by meiosis. First we explore how meiosis produces haploid gametes from a diploid cell. We then look at homologous chromosomes and how meiosis introduces genetic variation through the process of crossing-over.
    This video is aimed at the UK A Level Biology specifications. Students studying International A Level Biology will need to check their specification.

    My whole school knows you 🤣😂, u explain better than most of our teachers, you simply saved everyone's GCSEs and increased at least 2 grades for everyone in our triple group! Most of us passed with an 8 or 9 at our sciences, I can't thank you enough!

    Thanks for this very helpful and clear video on meiosis. Is there any chance if you could upload videos on the different types of cells and their organelles please, so like the structure and function for each cell organelle in plant and animal cells as that’s also in the cells topic for aqa alevel biology. Thank you for producing these amazing videos!! 🔥🔥🔥

    You said that the maternal and paternal chromosomes cross over, however i thought that meiosis only happened in the testes or ovaries and so cannot have a mother and father. Could you explain this please thanks😃

    • @Freesciencelessons
      @Freesciencelessons  2 роки тому +3

      By maternal chromosome, I mean the chromosome derived from the person's mother. The paternal chromosome is derived from the person's father. Every person has 23 pairs of chromosomes in each cell and one of each of the pairs is maternal and one paternal (ie came from their mother and came from their father).

    Thank you for the video, I understand this a lot more now. Also for your video on shapes of molecules the molecule with 6 bonding regions is called octahedral, I found an answe online saying it is due to the 3d shape having 8 faces, please would you be able to confirm if this is correct. Thanks again 👍

    • @Freesciencelessons
      @Freesciencelessons  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi and thanks for the comment. Yes that's correct, if you imagine a 3D octahedron, it has 8 faces.
