In this video, we look at what is meant by stem cells. We then look at the uses of stem cells in medicine. Finally, we explore stem cells in plants and how these can be useful.

Well no offense but every teacher has to cope with the 'class clowns' and with the questions they get asked - if they are relevant to the topic or not.

Thanks great for revision and last minute cramming
Glad it was helpful!
You got a reply from the king
On the mark scheme it doesn't mention leukaemia at all, do we still need to know it? Your videos are really helpful!
learn it just in case
obviously you cant cover every single disease in the world
i have so much love for you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Respect my brother ✊
where do the stem cells come from for theraputic cloning? the patients own embroyo , the patients parents etc?
From an embryo created from the patient's own cells.
Your voice is soothing and I use it to get to sleep
Ikr
...... u need it for revision not for "lullabies"
Such a helpful guy
When you revise do you make notes if this guys videos ?
Okay I love this guy
@freesciencelessons, do we need to know about bone marrow transplants?
Hi Sir- in therapeutic cloning, why do you call the cell an embryo even though it hasn’t been fertilised? Thanks.
Effectively, it behaves as an embryo undergoing mitosis and differentiation. So it's simply called an embryo.
@@Freesciencelessons wow you're still replying to comments even tho this video was uploaded 4 years ago. respect.
@@trapzter5780 You ratio's him
Hi,
I wanted to know if this would apply to the OCR A Gateway 9-1 specification?
Nikhil Patil idk but he said aqa
thank you so much
Assessment in 3 days 😭
LEGEND!!
Sir in the 2018 GCSE biology paper there was a question on the process of Therapeutic cloning and how the embryo (that has the same genes as the patient) is made, but it isn't specified on the spec.
Its also known as adult cell cloning, it's not a hard concept to grasp tbh. If you watch his video on it you might get it straight away
@@ps4_tra it is difficult to remember
An angel sent by god. THANK YOU!!!
this guy really does come clutch
Exams are cancelled
Sir, is therapeutic cloning when an embryo from an animal can be killed for the use of stem cells if the parents don't want the child?
Yup
the reason for therapeutic cloning is to make the same stem cells as the subject,
therefore, if the "parents don't want to child", there wouldn't be a reason for therapeutic cloning
therapeutic cloning is creating an identical stem cell copy of your own cell
your too good bruhhhh
I got high B's in both sciences and I own it to you my friend😊😊😊
hi lol well done!!!!,!
Biology paper 1 tmr 😊😊😊
Biology paper 2 next week eek
What are the differences between plant stem cells and animal stem cells?
my biology paper 1 is in 2 and a half hours. cramming squad where u at
Thank you for this video! Do human stem cells stop differentiating and dividing after they first divide and differentiate, or, like plant cells, can they divide and differentiate after the first time they differentiate?
Thanks for the comment. Currently, scientists think that once human stem cells have differentiated, they cannot reverse to a different cell type.
Depends On Which Human Stem Cells Your Referring To.
Isn't the first division of the zygote meiosis or de not need that in this section?
zygote cells are the result of meiosis. (gametes formed from meiosis join together to make an zygote)
will these videos cover everything needed for the examboard OCR?
These cover AQA but the specs are very similar. I'd check the spec.
I got my gcse tomorrow hopefully I pass
LAST MINUTE REVISION SQUAD 2019???????
Bio paper in a few hours let’s goooo
Helpful
Thank you sm
Legend!!!, Lessgooo broooo
If I use this info for foundation paper will I have a problem? Pls help...
no, chances are you will just do better as its basically the same content.
Hi, i cant find where it says the section about leukaemia in the spec?
It’s not a specific topic it’s just an example of how stem cells are used for medical reasons
Hey, don't adult stem cells differentiate into skin and bone cells as well?
PhoenixRaven no don’t think so
What's the difference between embryonic stem cells and stem cells?
the difference is that embryonic stem cells can change into any type of cells, while regular stem cells will only be able to change into limited types of stem cells. (of course, this is only in humans)
also, embryonic stem cells can only be found in the embryo stage while stem cells such as the bone marrow stem cell can be found anytime
where in the video do you talk about animal stem cells
thank you so much, well dressed man
