Dealing with the flooding problem in America every hurricane season: 1. A sea wall 2. Flood gates 3. Construct embankments 4. Build houses on two-level stilts 5. Implement drainage systems 6. Create wetlands for water absorption 7. Use permeable paving materials 8. Restore natural riverbanks 9. Develop early warning systems for floods 10. Dredge rivers more frequently 11. Divert excess waters into ponds 12. Develop a system like China's, where water is channeled through canals to desert areas of America.
@@thewhizbang There are no news teams in other areas because roads are closed either with mudslides or flooding or the roads are gone by being washed away. Asheville has a television station, so there are reporters and equipment there to do reports but they can not get out of Asheville with I-40 blocked to both the East and the West. So the best you are going to get is locals using drones or cellphones to take video in areas that are devastated.
@@kontrygrll01amerika54 I was delivering water to people on Saturday after the storm. I drove all over the outskirts of Boone finding devastation everywhere. Lots of people are cut off because of their bridges were wiped out. No one is helping them. No police no firefighters. I was one of the first responders, besides other homeowners. Asheville is obviously getting all the attention. Boone proper has had power restored, but water is still contaminated for the near future. Seen dozens of down powerlines no one there guiding traffic or helping anybody, there are lots of people driving through though… just…no state officials or city officials..
This will take years to rebuild, if ever. The government is flat broke. New Orleans never recovered from hurricane Katrina. And that was back in 2005. And flood insurance is not covered by standard insurance. Flood insurance is separate
I have some random thoughts or ideas that might help? If yall keep all the firewood and there should be plenty to keep warm in the winter. Also I have this theory that they are trying to force people into car loans with high payments. They have raised the prices on used cars on purpose so that you almost have no choice but to finance with high payments and with inflation you will not have much extra money?

We had 2 mudslides and 10 foot flood waters. my heart goes out to NC amd TN but us here in southwestern virginia have been absolutely devastated and no one is saying anything. we need help too.
What's sadder still, is that after the cleanup and restoration of power the attorneys will come out of the muck to file lawsuits against the State or Federal authorities, not to mention private litigation. When I saw the debris and boats up against people's riverfront property I just knew the lawyers will sue everybody in sight.
The government wants you dependent on them , even though they fail us on every level . We are Americans we are strong we help each other just work together . When selecting a local Sherif make sure he has the same views and they are not political
Probably. If you do not have NFIP, no FEMA $$$. After we lost all in Katrina, we were lucky we had NFIP (mandatory) but that doesn't cover total costs. Insurance companies screwed over amny homeowners who did not need flood insurance. State Farm was worst. After paying for decades, SF denied everyone. NFIP was only about 650/yr for our home....worth every penny if you are within a mile of a river, and low in the valley.
Chimney Rock is gone no mention of that, flooding in Pickens no power trees down everywhere power lines this is South Carolina Spartanburg no power til Thursday no stores open people that need oxygen hospital want take them. You need cash ATMs out

Did you take a second to think that's why there might not be that much coverage? Because no one can get in touch with them? It's better to wait until we have more info.
@@gunslinger9560 You didn't listen to a word I said. I said the lack of coverage for those smaller communities is because no one can get in touch with them, therefore there is no info they can report.
That's what I am wondering. The town of Cullowhee and W.C.U. have not been mentioned on any media. The surrounding mountains are the rainiest part of the state. All cell phone infrastructure is wiped out apparently.
Development has consequences. Roads, roof tops, parking lots ,concrete drive ways, housing Developments ,shopping centers all give off large amounts of rain water run off. You better get use to more flooding with a growing population needing all the above.😢
This flooding is way up in the Appalachia mountains. Not a lot of people or infrastructure up there. Eastern North Carolina suffers from all the rain run off in Chapel Hill, Raleigh & Durham. It all goes straight down the Neuse and destroys rural towns.
I agree but in Texas they raised the roadway in front of where I lived and after that our neighborhood never flooded again, I thought it would make it worse but they did a terrific job

When Will the National Guard, FEMA and Red Cross be Deployed????
I’m not sure they exist anymore, since our president went missing…

Dealing with the flooding problem in America every hurricane season:
1. A sea wall
2. Flood gates
3. Construct embankments
4. Build houses on two-level stilts
5. Implement drainage systems
6. Create wetlands for water absorption
7. Use permeable paving materials
8. Restore natural riverbanks
9. Develop early warning systems for floods
10. Dredge rivers more frequently
11. Divert excess waters into ponds
12. Develop a system like China's, where water is channeled through canals to desert areas of America.
WILL WE EVER LEARN 😢 THANK YOU, FOR THE REMINDERS 😮 NOW IF WE WILL ALL LISTEN 😢
How come no one is covering Yancey county... Burnsville to be exact???
@@KWolf-vb7po It’s literally Boone and Asheville they are covering…every else is just on their own…I feel your pain friend
@@KWolf-vb7po I would like to know that also -
@@KWolf-vb7po I have seen a photograph of an Ingles store with a flooded parking lot so at least we know Burnsville is still there -
@@thewhizbang There are no news teams in other areas because roads are closed either with mudslides or flooding or the roads are gone by being washed away.
If you’re in Boone, you’ve been forgotten about pretty much. Seen dozens of down powerlines no one there guiding traffic or helping anybody, there are lots of people driving through though… just…no state officials or city officials..

The are not treated with respect by Government the heavenly eyes are watching.
Nc is not prepared for this kind of disaster well they keep raising taxes here so hopefully we have the money to fix this quickly!
This will take years to rebuild, if ever. The government is flat broke. New Orleans never recovered from hurricane Katrina. And that was back in 2005. And flood insurance is not covered by standard insurance. Flood insurance is separate
U got that right
I have some random thoughts or ideas that might help? If yall keep all the firewood and there should be plenty to keep warm in the winter. Also I have this theory that they are trying to force people into car loans with high payments. They have raised the prices on used cars on purpose so that you almost have no choice but to finance with high payments and with inflation you will not have much extra money?
Feels like im back in panama, with all the flooding and land slides.
PEOPLE APPLING FOR THE FEMA $750 ARE BEING TURNED DOWN !!!!
Pause at 2:11 and look to the right. That dirt giving way should be a huge concern about that dam
Were in Speedwell Virginia, and our town was entirely under water. We still have no water, just got power back this morning. We had 2 mudslides and 10 foot flood waters. my heart goes out to NC amd TN but us here in southwestern virginia have been absolutely devastated and no one is saying anything. we need help too.
Take a good look around you it's going to take a couple of minutes to get everything back to normal
What's sadder still, is that after the cleanup and restoration of power the attorneys will come out of the muck to file lawsuits against the State or Federal authorities, not to mention private litigation. When I saw the debris and boats up against people's riverfront property I just knew the lawyers will sue everybody in sight.
Sounds like it is time to stop giving money to Ukraine and give it to Americans first.
Also Israel.
Use your social media skills to show American what's going on in your area
Everything gets better God bless All
The government wants you dependent on them , even though they fail us on every level . We are Americans we are strong we help each other just work together . When selecting a local Sherif make sure he has the same views and they are not political
It’s ALL of western NC.
And Eastern Tennessee, South Carolina
Because it’s water, insurance WILL NOT cover most of these losses.
@@maggieking6619. Yes and FEMA has gone way up a friend started paying himself the premiums when it went to the thousands he has a nest egg now
Most of these people don't carry flood insurance.
Chimney Rock is gone no mention of that, flooding in Pickens no power trees down everywhere power lines this is South Carolina Spartanburg no power til Thursday no stores open people that need oxygen hospital want take them. You need cash ATMs out
@kaysouthern3787 so sorry for you. Praying for all of you. I have family in North Carolina. Worried about them. Hang in there.
@@kaysouthern3787 yes it is gone and no one has been able to get to those precious people. That whole geographical area has been changed literally.
I don't mean any disrespect for Ashville, but hello all your news crews they are not the only town hit,at least people can be reached and communicated with, but Jackson county and cashiers has not been able to be reached period, not even neighboring sheriff's offices can reach or communicate with them,my son works for Blue Ridge public safety and hasn't been hurd from since 12am Friday when sent out to close off roads,
Did you take a second to think that's why there might not be that much coverage? Because no one can get in touch with them? It's better to wait until we have more info.
@@generalmartok3990 did you take a second to consider that more than Ashville was hit
@@gunslinger9560 You didn't listen to a word I said. I said the lack of coverage for those smaller communities is because no one can get in touch with them, therefore there is no info they can report.
When the inspection on your property says flood plain, this can happen.

And how does that help?
How did Raleigh fair in the storm? I can't find any information anywhere about it.
Raleigh is fine. It rained at bit, but nothing intense like in the west. No flooding or damage or anything here.
Boy the flood insurance premiums will skyrocket for those home owners on the renewal. OMG
Why didn't your station zoom in on the pictures/videos?
Why no coverage of Western Carolina University and how they fared?
@@donwyoming1936 Asheville ? Pigeon Forge?

WE WONT KNOW THE TOTAL SCOPE OF DAMAGE AND FATALITIES FOR DAYS TO COME IN WNC ASHEVILLE AND CHIMNEY ROCK ARE JUST A COUPLE OF AFFLICED AREAS ITS SO WIDESPREAD
Ive driven through Asheville many times thoughout my life; I guess it's gone forever now. I hardly knew ye.
Not gone forever. Some places were hit hard, some okay or much more repairable. Still a great, standing city.
Definitely a few smaller surrounding towns, though.... 😢
Asheville , being a Democrat stronghold, will have its's entire water, power and sewage infrastructure rebuilt by FEMA.
The rest of western N.C. ,being mostly MAGA, will be drinking rainwater and eating possum and woodchucks long after Asheville has been rebuilt.
Most of Asheville is not in the flood plain so not much damage. The oldest section in Biltmore Village is what has flooded four times since 1997, and it is always rebuilt.
These states near the ocean may have beautiful views, but not worth living near so many disasters.
Most of this was 300-400 miles from the ocean in the Smokey mountains!
@tammyforbes2101 just coming to say that
Yes it is. I've lived in NC for most of my 53 years except for time spent in va, FL, MD and NY. And I have done a lot of traveling but there is no place id rather call home than NC.
Ever heard of tornado Alley? That's a long way from the ocean. And some of the worst floods I've ever seen were in Oklahoma. The point is nature wants to get you you're gonna get got no matter where you are. So you might as well enjoy the view.
