Hey guys! What do you think about this box and the Items inside? I feel like the items they select are WAY overpriced for what they are. I dont know if they specifically select items from brands that have a high value but also a super big profit margin so that they can inflate the value of their boxes while also not having to spend a lot on its contents or what gong on but you CAN NOT convince me that backpack is worth anywhere near that price! What do you guys think? Love ya!
Cancel the Box and never get it again.
If you put a few drops of dish soap, hot water, and a few paper towels in your freshly, spaghetti stained Tupperware, put the lid on and shake it around --- the greasy stains will come out. It's a pre-wash tip that actually works 😊
Agreed 💯
@@lovethehotmess4251 this.
Agreed it's okay overpriced crap. And also the Tupperware hack is legit.
Yes, 100% want a deep dive into the company buying out failing subscription boxes!!
Right, like girl, do you even need to ask??? Lol
YASSSSSS
Same!!!
It's an LLC called Retention Brands Alltrue. They're the company that just bought Birchbox as well. The company didn't exist two months before the Alltrue crap happened last year.
One of Retention Brands' partners, Chris Davis, used to be the CEO of Loot Crate. And the sole employee of Retention Brands, Ryan Hibbard, was the vice president of finance and strategy at Loot Crate (a geek and fandom-inspired subscription box service) until 2018. A year later, Loot Crate went bankrupt.
Another company started by Hibbard after he left Loot Crate, Bud Crate, was suspended by California’s Franchise Tax Board for not paying taxes, according to the state’s Secretary of State database.
I vote you tie dye the boring overpriced backpack
That could be pretty cool.
And add different colored daisies!!
Came to comment about tie dyeing the back pack but someone beat me to it, lol.
I imagined tiny button pins and patches
That's exactly what I was thinking too!!
Girl, they have that back pack at the Hobby Lobby for $9.99 and is usually 50% off of that!
It would be interesting if you brought back some of the cruddy boxes that we vetoed, like Macy's for example, just for a one time "Are they still bad?" video. That would be fun! This one is a stinker for sure. The cutting board was the only thing I would have kept.
That's honestly a great idea. 👌🏿
It didn't register right away that you were talking about *your* store when you said you could use the metal container to pack your husband's lunch to "go to the store" and my brain instantly went "wait, how long does it take him to go shopping?!?"😳😅
I thought the same thing for a second! 😂
Didn't click for me til I read your comment, so 🙃😅
Wait really? I thought the same as you 😅
So she has a store? What does she sell?
100% stainless steel containers aren't popular because everyone wants to be able to reheat their food in the container so as to not dirty extra dishes.
That is such a good point, I didn’t even think about not being able to reheat the food easily!
Yeah when I saw them I thought, they can be useful if for a trip I want to pack home made desserts, or quick snacks that can be eaten cold (like balls of pizza dough with filling). But for a regular lunch I don't think everyone likes cold food
A real tiffin set keeps food warm for 4 hrs or so.
I have to tell you I love my stainless steel stuff but I will also reheat that right on my gas stove cuz it's stainless steel and it can handle it That is as long as they handles are stuck on the lid otherwise that would be a tailbreaker
@@kestendavis8753 Tail breaker? Did you mean deal breaker or is this a saying I just haven't heard? Just genuinely curious 😊🙆🏻♀️
My friend uses a stainless steel item like that. She takes it to restaurants and puts her leftovers in it. Great way to cut down on waste :)
I would love to see an investigation! Mainly so I don't buy their crap....since they seem to be buying lots of different boxes!
If the backpack is genuinely sustainably made and the people who made it were paid ethically I dont think the price is unreasonable. That being said tho companies lie all the time about things being ethically and sustainably made and it can be very difficult to verify those claims so might be over priced
I think people are so conditioned to poor quality slave labour garments and accessories and the associated prices .
I was looking at ethical socks and they're about 10e a pair. But I guarantee if people who could afford them bought them they'd treat them a lot better. Organic cotton isn't cheap and I'd rather pay 100e for a bag I'd it was ethically made
Well considering they basically stole all their products from their vendors… yes it’s overpriced? Lol
😂😂 💯
The vegan thing is the same issue I have with "vegan leather" like ok fam let's just say it's pleather and move on. It's not higher quality it's literally just polyurethane and it's cheaper and worse quality than actual leather 😤
I even saw a coat marketed as "vegan wool" once. It was polyester, not even a blend and not even recycled material, priced like it was real wool 💀 worst green-washing I have ever seen.
I blame Stella McCartney. I never heard of the term until that black "vegan leather" bag with the silver chain that everyone was obsessed with came out and it was SO pricey for being literal plastic. They still sell it and it's over $1200 now. I thought the $400/$500 was bad 13 years ago...
@@letsalltakeawalk6906 vegan wool is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of 😭😭😭😭
@@ifykykPAIGEThank you for telling me where this started. It's been pleather my whole 36 years of life, so I was so confused when it all of a sudden was being called vegan leather!
It's also less sustainable than actual leather goods because it's poor quality and (usually) petroleum based.
I will never trust the AllTrue band ever again, I don't care who buys them out. After loosing like $250 (or whatever the annual was), them going radio silent, finding out they went bankrupt from you, and then seeing videos of all the wasted inventory and how they didn't pay the artists/creators...nope, not gonna do it.
Agreed! I wouldn't buy the boxes, and I certainly wouldn't advertise their business by making videos about their boxes.
And it goes so much further back! When it was causebox they screwed so many people over, took money with no refund then took 3-6 months to send the box, with no communication, multiple times I hear, then rebranded as all true. Likely also so they wouldn’t have the brand tied to philanthropy and and good causes anymore and could focus on profit and screwing people over.
The spray you were thinking of is Scotch Guard.
Yes thank you!
Maybe you should do an Open Challenge showdown. Where you take a box (whatever one randomly selected) and checking prices noted against the website & other shopping sites for price integrity.
Yes yes yes to all the Alexandria Ryan investigative videos!!!
If the cutting board are made ethically, and the artisans are paid enough, accounting for ethical gathering of materials, and transport of goods from india, that cost is not that high. TJ maxx products have such low prices, there is no way those people are being paid a livable wage.
Or even being paid.
I thought the exact same thing. No one can consciously compare prices at Temu or stores like TJ Maxx and account for ethical production.
Yeah but cutting boards can be made very automated
Exactly, ethically sourced products will always be priced higher than mass manufactured items.
same thing with the bag. If someone took 4 hours to make that (pattern drafting, cleaning the material, cutting out the pieces, stitching, finishing, adding the hardware) at $15/hr (minimum wage in my state) that's $60 in wages plus ~$10 for ethically sources materials leaves only $28 profit (which also covers the value of the expertise of the crafter) Whilst I totally understand the whole "this doesn't look expensive"/"I could find this for cheaper" argument, fast fashion has truly desensitized people to how expensive fair-wage work actually is
If something is ethically sourced, the whole chain has to be paid fairly. So minimum wage or a living wage. If that backpack’s cotton, hardware, and labor is fairly paid than it might be $90.
Yes, fast fashion has really desensitized people to how much it costs to create things ethically.
I believe that convertible bag is convertible HANDLES. From backpack to tote bag. I only assume that because I had a really cool one from JCPenny YEARS ago made out of some thick, slick sparkly deep blue color that had convertible straps that I LOVED...however, I believe my dog chewed it up and I had to throw it away. Haven't found anything similar since.
You could totally tie-dye that bag and put stamps or patches on it afterwards! That would be really cute.
That's exactly what it is. I noticed it as soon as she pulled it out... backpack to tote bag.
Like the classic (expensive) Fjällräven Tote 😊
"Dog food bowly." 😂🤣
that cutlery set looks identical to one I recently bought at the dollar store for $3
I went to Laude the Lable....bahahaha....those prices....and the backpack isn't even there.
Big YES to an investigative video 🙌
I LOVE the sketchy box openings, it feels like we’re gossiping 😂
Kmart in my country sells ethically sourced cotton items, and that bag would cost around the equivalent of US$8 at full price.
"Let me know if you guys want me to do a video like that" anytime you say that you already know we want it!!! 😂❤
I am a wood and resin woodworker. Please don't put your cutting boards in the dishwasher. Just rub it down all over with a good olive oil and chestnut 🌰 oil. That will seal it. Then hand wash it in hot water and Dawn dishsoap to xlen food amd bacteria off of it. Then re oil it every three months.😊
Question: Is it okay to use bleach if raw meat touches a wooden board?
As a woodworker myself, I have to disagree with the suggestion to use olive oil on cutting boards as it is light-sensitive and will go rancid very easily. Mineral oil is industry standard and about a tenth (or less) the price.
✋️ olive oil?! No. Mineral oil. Always. Cooking oils are a huge NO. Maybe beeswax if you want. Plz educate yourself.
@@keawarren hot water and dish soap is all you need. Dont use bleach.
@@jleighwolfe Many folks have strong reactions to mineral spirits or the ingestion of mineral spirit oil. Olive and Chestnut oils have been used on hardwood boards for hundreds of years in Germany. Which is where I was a carpentry and woodworking apprentice for years before moving to the states. And yes I have a military American father and a German father. So I hold dual U.S. and German Citizenship. Perhaps you could research traditional wood treatments used by early and current Europeans. You might discover some interesting info and perhaps other ways of successful wood preservation methods. I absolutely agree about beeswax as is it a great sealant and can keep wood water resistant as well as preserved. However I have discovered many with honey or pollen sensitivities actual have a small chance at having an allergic reaction up to anaphylactic shock. Which I find too risky. Even listing that on my website with a warning ⚠️ is not always helpful to buyers. As we all know some folks just overlook warnings. Anyhow thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's much appreciated. Have a wonderful day my friend.
I will say I looked up the brand of that backpack and yeah after that I do believe that brand would charge $98 for it.
It really seems like the whole subscription box model is just 80% scams now 😥
Like usual what starts out as a cool, unique idea quickly gets swallowed up by greedy capitalism.
I am with you on the value of these items. As an annual member who was scammed out of a box when they closed down without telling a soul, I would never go back to All True(False) again!😕
Same!
Seriously, I was scammed out of a brand new year subscription and an $84 marketplace order! They should be ashamed! I also received that silverware set before they scammed us!
I was also an annual member who got scammed!
So the last box I got before they went bankrupt and got azzzed outta money 😂 had almost all of that same stuff in it
I like the idea of the detective video. I would think there are several boxes that could be exposed.
“ I don’t know...but I got a can of it in my garage!” From one Southern girl to another, I see you. 😂
The bag strap can make it a backpack or a tote bag. Not that it contributes to the “value” lol
Most prices are inflated by subscription services. They want you to think that you are getting a value when you are not in fact getting a good deal.
I think i saw that Backpac at Michael's.. it was 9.99 .. guess they added a 9 ?? Crazy .. tfs
The backpack reminds me of a craft I made in Girl Scouts in the '70s.
“Oh she’s shedding”
I love watching you; especially when I’m feeling down.
Btw what happened to that french box? Did you get your money back or they finally sent you all the missing boxes? I'd love a video about that as well
It's probably not worth $98 but still Alexandria should head down to a fancy store and she be jaw drop stunned at the stuff that cost a lot for something so simple & plain
I just bought a whole 4 set of metal food storage thingys from Amazon for $24 just for comparison ❤
I just wanted to shout out your hair 😍 It’s looking so healthy and gorgeous. LOVE!
Oh yes would love to see you investigate and see how shady these boxes might be
Please do a “I can do this cheaper” video with this box!
I love to watch you shop around 😂
Oh my god the dogs lil paws hanging over the bed 🥰🥰🥰
Girl! Tupperware stain! Dish soap, a little warm water ( about halfway full) throw a paper towel in it, put the lid on it and shake it for 45-60 seconds; it works! ♥️
Tater in the background covered in what I assume is some bright lipstick that probably won't be missed is iconic.
That jade roller is from their Winter 2018 box haha
Yesss a post on my off day! Hope y’all are doing well ❤
9:55 I'm willing to bet that's Acacia wood- pronounces A-kay-sheuh lol
Alexandria going down the sketchy rabbit hole has piqued my interest 😂
Spill the tea on Ipsy box situation. I’m curious.
If you want to get the tomato stain off your plastic : put a little dish liquid, paper towel, and a little hot water inside. Lid on and shake it. Paper towels are magic. If there’s not a lid, just use a paper towel like a dish cloth and with some detergent give it a good scrub. 🙂
Works on anything that has an oily residue/base.
Yes! Tie dye the bag! I love that cutting board! It's so pretty!
When I get the notification I click off what I’m watching for yours, definitely want an investigative video I love when you do those. Hope everything’s going good with and your dogs
Hello Alexandria. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE 😊 do a deep dive investigation into the birch box thingy. You really do lift our spirits. Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿
This was at least a box with different stuff in it. I’d love to see you customise that white bag!
Yessss I’ve been waiting for this video from you!! 😂
I just love u please don't stop unboxing
We absolutely need
🔎Investigatin’ with Alexandria🔍
You should get a dog subscription box [and I'm going to keep suggesting it until it happens! :)]
That face brush looks like the little hair brushes you buy for babies. 😂
Apparently if you coat the inside of a container with butter and dish soap, then put a paper towel in it and shake it around it can remove red stains! Worth a shot lol :)
Woah your hair is looking super full!!! Luscious and thick on the top especially
Yes to the deep dive!
Yes, please! I'd love to know what's going on with these companies! ❤
I'm so glad you get some good stuff from your boxes. I have never had any luck with any type of subscription or mystery box. I seem to only get junk that I have absolutely no interest in or stuff that doesn't work for me at all. I enjoy living vicariously through you!
Yes to the investigative video!!! I used to have FOMO but not anymore! I don’t feel like I’m missing anything not getting subscriptions every month…
Completely unrelated to the video but my two year old is OBSESSED with your dogs in the background. He kept trying to pet them through the screen lol
Thank you for the content
Yesssss a corporate conspiracy video would be amazing
9:10 Oooo you could tie dye it or something! Fun!
Hi. Secret Tupperware cleaning tip for tomato sauce, use dish detergent and. COLD water. Stains gone! 😊❤
Your hair is looking so good! It looks really thick and healthy. I hope this means your treatments are working for you 😊 Great video, as always ❤️
This is the one I'd love to see you recreate.
The backpack is screaming tie dye!😂
Love the almost bad word slip 😂
After you wash a wood cutting board and it dries you can spray it with cooking spray to keep it from drying out ,not much just a bit and run it all over with a paper towel,or small bit of food oil of your choice
I looked into the backpack because I was mystified that it was $98. I guess it's from Laude the Label which has some dresses for like $400. It looks super pricey and greenwashed type deal (not sure if they are, just overpriced bad vibes overall.). Also I have never heard of them and I'm in that eco friendly but reasonable space...essentially if I haven't heard of eco clothing companies they're either very new or only exist within the subscription box space.
Laude the Label isn't new. They used to be Tribe Alive, but rebranded like a year or so ago, which is maybe why you aren't familiar with the name. I think their products seem a bit more plain now than before they rebranded, but if you read about them, it seems like they're legit ethical. They include info about where they source their materials, what they pay their employees, working conditions, etc on their website. Seems about as legit as an ethical brand can be. Not that I'm going to buy a $200 plain linen dress lol, but the brand ethics deserve some respect!
Would love a video on birchbox!
First of all, YESSSSS GIRL for that sweat shirt!! U of K is THE best😁❤😁❤ second, I think a deep dive would be awesome! You are so good at these unboxings! You ask the relevant questions, you don't show bias, you expect honest value for your hard earned money and you let us know when you believe it's not, or if it's potential scam stuff.
Third, I'm keeping you and your fur babies in my prayers!❤🙏🐕🐕❤🙏
I use a stainless steel face roller and it’s amazing. It’s always cold and very soothing
Tydye the back back 😊❤
Yes! We need more investigative Alexandria! What's up with Birchbox?!
Please please please give us deep dives! I would absolutely watch
My husband did the EXACT SAME THING with the plastic knife he has a scar now. He was also in his 20s when he did it. So just know you are not alone
I cut my hand open with a plastic fast food knife. My son never lets me forget it either!😊
Never been so early 🤩🤩
And yes an investigative video please!!!!
You can use butter to remove tomato stains from plastic Alexandria .
Yes PLEASE, let's have an investigative conversation!!
Maybe this box is getting better. I think this was a pretty good box, especially considering you couldn't choose the items. Maybe if they continue getting better you can do the yearly subscription. Also, I would totally use a cricket on the backpack
You were thinking of Scotch Guard spray for the backpack 😊
I agree that they seem to be drastically inflating their retail values, the box just doesn't seem worth it when compared to other ones you've shown us. I wouldn't bother with it any more.
Dry brushing on the body and face is also good clean off dead skin which is why the body brush is supposed to feel a little rougher because it's meant for the body which can handle more while the face needs a softer brush because the face is more gentle...
I took a quick run through Aliexpress, and no way is that box even worth what you paid for it! Plus you only have their word on how ethically they were made. Finally...bedazzle that cheap backpack! 😂
I have a tip: after you've put spaghetti or red sauce in a Tupperware container, BEFORE you even rinse it the bowl out, take a paper towel and wipe out the sauce and you'll never have red stained Tupperware ever again!!!! Works every time and you get all the grease out!!
Oh snap, the AllFake box is back X'D
Investigation videos are a must, please!!!!🧐🎉
Deep dive for sure!!!!
Yes, we need a deep dive for shady boxes.
