Tyler, always nice to see you. Thank you for your service. And as always thank you for the views there. Never in my life seen a kiosk yet at a cemetery. Bless Robert and Judith.
Thank you Tyler, I have never seen this national cemetery before. I appreciate you taking the time to explain where you were, setting the times of the burials so I have a sense when people were interred - I like the context. My respects to your grandparents, you clearly love them and you gave them a great, heartfelt tribute.❤
The newer columbarium's on the west side of the 405, where your grandparents are, are brand new, 5'ish years old. LANC went through a 3 year beautification and upgrade plan about 10 years ago. New sod, leveled the grounds, realigned the headstones, replaced older, broken, unreadable upright markers. You missed the actor that played "Floyd The Barber" (his name eludes new at the moment) on "The Andy Griffith Show" in the 1940's columbarium. LANC is one of my top 3 favorite LA cemeteries.
National and Veteran's cemeteries don't sell spaces or niches. As a veteran you earned it! So if you qualify (you can have your privileges revoked). Your family has to do the paperwork after you pass and then they plug you into the next available grave/niche. The new columbarium section was on UCLA land and the VA acquired the land for the cemetery expansion. If you notice on the far side of the western wall (in the park, undeveloped area), are the UCLA softball fields. This whole area of Westwood was once called SAWTELL. So when you look up older records of the cemetery or the original VA hospital and veteran's home (the hilly section w/ all the uprights) it'll say "Sawtell, CA.).
Thank you for all that information, especially the part about the property and where it came from. I think I'm going to contact them about looking into arrangements for myself, thank you again.
@@tylerscott6610 YVW! Contact your local VA regarding cemetery and burial info. They'll send you an info packet . You will have to designate someone as your power of attorney that will be your lieson (sp) between the Veterans/National Cemetery and your final wishes.
Thank you for your service tyler
Such a gift that your step mother's family embraced you as their own.
That isn't always the case.
Love & light to you ❤

Eucalyptus reminds me of the recent Aussie wildfires. It's said the koalas screaming was horrific.
That’s sad
Are you planning on going back periodically to see the progress of filling the niches? And of course to visit your grandparents🪦💐🧡
Yes I'll definitely be back again to check it out.
