I am current owner of this bus (since 2017). It is a fantastic vehicle. It took a long time to find the Deluxe 7 Passenger model rather than the more common campers. A previous owner had the rust on doors resolved and replaced the rusted "dog leg" on passenger side as well as some other smaller body issues. Underneath is as clean as I have ever seen on a VW bus of this age and engine and transmission work great. This is the third VW bus I have owned. The first was a 1960 camper (purchased in 1970). The second was a 1970 7 passenger deluxe wagon model (purchased in 1971) and driven until over 180K miles. Yes there was a complete engine rebuild in that time! But this 1971 7 passenger deluxe is just for fun. Always garage stored.
Back, in 1973 my, Aunt invited my Grandparents to her house for My Grandmother's B-Day. It went Well, & I have Home, movies of That, if the bulb, didn't burn out I, would have shown, it to you. And, had a blast, with you & the Misses too.
What a beauty!! Such great shape too! Looks like my bus, same year and color, but this one is definitely in a nicer condition looks wise. Mine has a few more rust spots around it. So much fun though!
Seems like you got a good deal on it. My wife would love to have it! Some day I will have to build one for her... Looking forward to seeing you work on this one and how much of it just needs cleaned up vs. restoration work.;
Hey Mustie1, good thing my hoard is full, if not, I could picture myself with my own Volks collection, I enjoyed the way U applied the knowledge and creativity toward getting the camper bus into a show piece and the lumber yard VW truck into a runner. Thanks for making the videos!
Know you can't keep them all..but that thing has such a nice blue on it, to bad you could refit the top to a camper, as that frame and carriage had such solidness to it.
What state are you in? I am in NY, who knows one day you may get one that i would be interested in buying and drive to you and buy it, but not if you are 2000 miles away....lolololollolol. Thanks again, love your channel man, you are the VW BUS GOD! I also follow GHERKIN on here, i think he is up in Orange County NY. I am down in NYC.
3 grand is a steal. My 78 fuelie i had was slightly more rough on the outside due to being original paint and blown out footwells, but mint inside...i paid 3 grand for it in 2002. Sold it in 2005 for 4500. Advertise it in Asheville NC Craigslist. You could probably flip it as is for 5-6000. Theres a HUGE VW scene in Asheville...thats where the money hippies live these days.
$3000.00 is a Pretty good deal. We just paid $1500.00 for the Goshen bus (1970) that was a non runner, and had some collision damage on the right front. Sold it to a friend for $2300.00 and he popped another $500.00 for us to get it running and stopping. I think you did pretty good. When it comes time to sell it I would bet money it goes to the UK.
wish the god would let me win the power ball were i could buy it from u but i know he aint lettin no one win from my state but any ways its great to see u and others savin the older bugs .......
The door cards look a bit bright for my taste, darker stain perhaps, help cover the water damage ? :-) Perhaps if you put both your running vw's in the garage, they will mate and make some mini versions ha ha :P Im sure im going mad ya know, sorry madder :~)
San Diego, that's where he said it was from. 3K gives you a lot of room to futz with it and still make some money on it. Overall nice, a few touches here and there and she'll be looking real good again. I dunno about painting it, that's a big, TIME and $ investment. But if might be worth it if you think you can snag the higher end money for it; it is a real good base to start from if you go that route. You'll figure it out D-man!
Please P.M. me about the Bus .... Before you put any time into it... Need to talk to the Boss but she wants a Bus and we might be able to swing it Many Blessings , SMR if price is right I would fly out and Drive her back to Ohio this wknd
Do every DIY you can think of but keep it as-is...just clean it and repair the rust on the bottom and door. Clean clean clean and you'll make a little money.

It's worth gold now
My mom has one that she's had for almost 3 decades, and I hope to restore it when it comes in my hands... ❤

My dream 👍🏻 I would add the flowers, peace and love too.
Now and days, The 71 Tin Top is the hottest ticket out there and this one could pull 14k as is.

Looks really good to me!! Great find!
Wow fantastic bargain. I have no doubt its in capable hands now. Love all your vw videos man! Very nice bus!
I agree its really awkward to film when other people are around.
damn! 3 grand for that bus? What a score! There's guys selling buses here in hawaii for 10 grand in the same condition.
She is a beauty. Reminds me of the one Aunt Mary had many years ago.
Wow such a nice bus😍😍
Nice clean little bus for its age.

Pretty clean overall.
Sounds like a great deal to me for a solid drivable van.

Nice score. Cheap too!
That is quite nice!
Looks in very good shape.
I miss my dad vw bus he had in the 1990's
Know you can't keep them all..but that thing has such a nice blue on it, to bad you could refit the top to a camper, as that frame and carriage had such solidness to it.
Awesome
How much are you asking fo the 1971 VW bus?
Wow $3000.00.... I thought they'd be twice that...
Now in 2021 even in that condition it would go for 14k
The last VW bus will be built Dec. 31, 2013 in Brazil!
wel that's a great starter bus for someone bro, cool prolly cheers
More then a starter, That's the best Year for Bay window bus. and it's a Tin top 😍😍😍
Looks like a nice bus forvthe money. In the UK the moneybwould be in converting it to a camper.
Nice
Did you sell this one? What state are you located in? You come across some sweeeeet deals and make the buses even nicer.
yeah it sold a while ago

I had a '71 'Devon Moonraker' in the same colour, a 1600cc. Of course, my steering wheel was on the right side.
wish the god would let me win the power ball were i could buy it from u but i know he aint lettin no one win from my state but any ways its great to see u and others savin the older bugs .......
Well, Now i know where the build date is! I see these later 70 buses in the junkyard time to time.
as long that u make 1.00 it's saving air cooled history
The door cards look a bit bright for my taste, darker stain perhaps, help cover the water damage ? :-)

nice
It dont matter if you make money or not its if you have fun !! :D but a little cash makes it better
Problem is if you put the Bay and the Split in the Garage together you will end up with a bunch of Brazilian looking half breeds.
would you sell right now for a profit? That is one clean bus for canada
Where can I find what u are selling
i think Kombis are worth more than campers [westfalia built or homemade], well what I have seen.
Yes, who would of known that was going to happen

As it is German, I will have to accept that the right side is the wrong side.
Please P.M. me about the Bus .... Before you put any time into it... Need to talk to the Boss but she wants a Bus and we might be able to swing it

l may try and just patch the doors

Not a bad Bug Wagon....even though it could use a few farnicastaffs to make it much better
back on ebay;)~
that may be what l do
if it ran a little better, was FI and i had the cash,i would come get it as is for more than what you paid for it.lol
A good looking one, very nice colour, decent inside. I hope that the former restoration wasn't a mastix/putty one.
If its a '71 & a California bus it will have a smog pump on the engine..
People remove them since all vehicles 1975 and older are smog exempt in California.
right need a helper
thats the wrong side,
