The G.I. Joe Defiant is one of the most iconic and sought-after playsets in the G.I. Joe action figure toy line. It was released by Hasbro in 1987 as part of the Real American Hero series. The Defiant was a massive space shuttle complex that served as a mobile launch platform for the G.I. Joe team's space missions.
Here are some key features and details about the G.I. Joe Defiant:
Size and Complexity: The Defiant was an enormous playset, standing over four feet tall when fully assembled. It consisted of three main components: the Crusader Space Shuttle, the Payload action figure, and the gantry system.
Crusader Space Shuttle: The Crusader was a space shuttle that could be launched from the gantry. It had a cockpit, cargo bay, and various interactive features. The cargo bay could hold G.I. Joe action figures, vehicles, and equipment.
Payload Action Figure: Payload was the astronaut action figure included with the Defiant. He came with a removable helmet and a host of accessories, making him a crucial part of the playset.
Gantry System: The gantry was the launch platform for the Crusader shuttle. It had multiple levels, a sliding elevator, and numerous points of interaction. It was where the action figures prepared for space missions.
Interactive Features: The Defiant had many interactive elements, including control panels, a retractable blast shield, a satellite, and a crane for moving cargo.
Sound and Lights: Some versions of the Defiant playset came with electronic sound and light features, adding to the play value.
The G.I. Joe Defiant was a marvel of toy engineering and remains highly prized among collectors due to its size, complexity, and the immersive play experience it offered. It's considered one of the crown jewels of the G.I. Joe toy line and a testament to the creativity and innovation that went into producing toys in the 1980s.

Who has and who wants a defiant?!
I want one now and I don’t even collect GI Joe that thing is sick
Ha! That's great!
I've always wanted one. One of my friends had it opened up at the bottom of their closet with all the joes stationed. We spent more time playing Megaman 3 that day, than playing with joes. But It was impressive.
100% on my grail want list just behind the Flagg.
🙋🏾♂️
Never seen a Defiant box before, imagine waking up x-mas morning and seeing that big box!
I've always wanted a Defiant, but man it's such a space hog (no pun intended). I sold one in an eBay store I worked at. It's one of the coolest toys ever. It's easy to forget just how huge it is!
Buying out the back of a truck gives Toy Mafia vibes 😂
The best bit by far was Tony going "Pew Pew Pew".
G.I.Joe stuff had to have some of the biggest boxes ever.
The old commercials are great
That Defiant box is insane.
He must of been coming to see you by giving you first dibs on everything in the truck and letting you climb in and dig around.
I love the old commercials. It keeps me watching. I remember the Batmobile commercial and I remember playing with one just can't remember who had it. Is this a personal collection? Or did this guy have his own store and liquidating?
Incredible what Hasbro was able to accomplish with this line! The depth and magnitude of what they put out was just mind boggling!
I picked mine up about eight months ago.100% complete, both figures complete, all with blueprints and file cards.i was a very happy camper that day.
Your videos are like Saturday morning cartoons for me. Love it! Keep em coming brother you guys are killing it ;)
Totally agree
Resellers selling to resellers all in the name of "the collector "....gotta love it
haha yea its pretty funny.
Love the random parking lot trades. The hunt is sometimes more exciting than the find.
How does someone come about a truck full of vintage toys? Asking for a friend.
I was wondering too...
Always great fun on a Saturday morning! I also hope for more during the week talking about different toy lines.
If you only did Joe videos, I'd watch every one. Yo Joe!
Had all of these as a kid, left my friend in a different state and gave him all my Joe's as a keepsake from me... hope he kept them lmao.
Being that I am a "loose" collector....I can understand why someone would want a box. But I don't understand buying beater boxes. It stands rk reason that a solid figure/playset looks better on its one instead of being displayed in a beater box
I feel the same way. Seen some episodes and I'm like DANG I'd rather just have the piece without the box.
the look of joy on your face in the thumbnail is great
Man. I'm gonna have to road trip from Texas to come visit ya'll. Just need to save up about $10k to spend on the Joe's you have to boost my collection. 🤣🤣
How to con men into unloading your truck 😜
Absolutely
proud to say your channel has made it into my weekly youtube video rotation
That's awesome!
Wow that box is freakin huge, toy companies to scared to make cool shit like that again. Besides hasbro pulse
Will never forget that gigantic box i got on Christmas when my dad took my downstairs. Used to use the box even months after the toy was played with.
Wow! That Defiant and box is humongous 😱 hope it made it to the shop safely🙏🏽I was hoping u grabbbed that Karate Kid training Playset 😅another great video Ryan 🔥🙌🏽
YOU get a Defiant, YOU get a Defiant, YOU get a Defiant lol
love this!!!!! every Saturday morning!!!!
Fantastic! That guy had the Big Boy stuff!! I like your friend too he's cool. The guy from Florida
Cameo from blake from balke’s toy chest. Awesome place to get your joes in NC!
This video is a Great Saturday Morning surprise. I love this channel. 🌟
That Defiant looks perfect. I've got all the big Joe playsets except that one. Would like to have one some day.
Awesome episode love the con episodes those should be a hour or more thanks Ryan
The G.I. Joe Defiant is awesome! It's great that you got one with a box! And that box is huge!
I see that Rolling Thunder box. I have most of it, but I'm missing the big cannon itself. I've heard the middle portion, with the cannon and its accessories are often missing.
it's like a food cart, they have the best stuff
If I were that guy who had those 3 Defiants and all those merchandise, I cannot leave that truck unattended now a days.
My favourite time of the week. Thx toy federation.
No problem! Glad you’re here!
Be nice to see Hasbro redo the Defiant. That box is huge. When did the defiant come out in 1987.I dont recall seeing that when i worked at TRU in 85 and 86.
Yeah I’d love to see them make more ARAH but for mass market, if this were a pulse release it would probably be $10,000.
@@ydoIhavetohaveachann Imagine that in classified scale.Huge !
Time 14:07 that batmobile was handmade, there were a few made like 300 in the world. A creator who made barbie vehicles if I'm not mistaken made them couldn't get the rights but still made them for those hard-core collectors. I believe the maker passed away years ago. I met a friend of his. In a toy show in Manchester. I'll be posting video soon of that particular batmobile. Small world lol
Oh. Very cool
Congratulations gentlemen for acquiring vintage Gijoe vehicles, especially the Gijoe defiant.
WHAT HEAVEN LOOKS LIKE GOOD LORD
Best show on youtube rn! Love from Sweden
My Saturday Morning Routine :) Coffee + TF
Here we go! Let us know what you think!
Dad can you bring my defiant to the living room please?
Great video but the truck was not moving
What?
haha
I see what you did there 😂
@toyfederation hint: read your video title
00:04:57 - I have THE POWER!!!
❤ original grayskull. The joe stuff is neat too I guess. 😉
Love that Castle Grey Skull. That was awesome wasn't it. :)
Love these videos Ryan! Great job always looking forward to the next!
Man I can not stop watching can’t wait for the next one.
" I wanna see the box... it's a nice piece"
Dallas toy store, or what ever it’s called, they have a defiant with a shit box in comparison to this one, and they’re asking 4K. 2k is a heck of a deal for a defiant and box.
Yeah, Dallas Vintage Toy Store. I just told that to my son. That guy could sell it for 4K all day.
surprised you dont put it in the passenger seat and put the seat belt on it.
This weeks episode..
dodgy back alley GI JOE dealing.. it’s sorta like it’s all stolen being sold out the back of a truck 😂
It was truly a defiant moment and
Awesome find
Great show, my man
I appreciate watching your show
Reminds me of the Airplane 2 scene where the scalper is selling Lunar Shuttle tickets in front of the spaceport😊
For a couple of seconds I thought that was Randell Carlson lol
Awesome video
Great video, Love the channel.
Now that is how you get cheap labor....you want that box? Dig. haha
Ha! Very true!
Another great episode!
Giving me Brad Pitt vibes… what’s in the box!? 😂
Good one haha.
Such quality (defiant and the content :-)).
Did you get it back okay? That would give me such aniexty transporting it lol.
Move stuff out of the way === buy it ?
I have Defiant’s shuttle and booster rocket/orbiter. Unfortunately my crawler needs doors and they are not easy to find! I also have Crusader and a third shuttle that is a hybrid of the two! And… I have a Defiant box. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the 20 Flag Points.
didnt realize how big the box was jesus imagine finding that under the xmas tree as a kid,its weird they see no value in modern joes they are going for stupid high prices online already, and prices arent going to go down
Ryan Honey Badgering his way through the guys truck 😂
Ha! You think so?
@@toyfederation Absolutely. Not in any negative way, but he just rolls in and the next thing you know he's helping the guy sell stuff, just so he can get further into the truck to see what else he's got. I think it's great. Was waiting for him to start up with an auctioneer voice... Do I hear $1000... ?
I could see myself trying to go through the guys truck too... The childhood excitement, like when your buddy got a new set and everyone came over with their Joe's to check it out!
On a side note: did they ever put the G.I. Joe DIC series on DVD or anything digital?
That’s a good question!
@@fatredfu they did but the box set goes for quite a bit
@@ydoIhavetohaveachann I've seen the original series on DVD, but have not seen the rest of the series on DVD. Last I checked the DIC series wasn't available, I'll have to go looking again, thanks!
Keep up the great content guys. Great work! I look forward to these all week. 💯
Appreciate it!
I was in the light blue shirt in the parking lot .. I remember the Filming but had Forgot until I seen the episode . Keep up the good work TF.
Another great video keep them coming 👊
Thanks! Will do!
WOW that box is huge !
That's what he said. Lol
I love your videos !! 😎🌴
Seacons!! Hell yeah!
So good
Awesome buy!!
Thanks!
Couple of thoughts even though I have not finished watching this yet: 1, my retirement so I can complete move down south can’t come soon enough, then I can work a Monday thru Friday gig and hit up these conventions that are only couple hour drives away from our place in SC, 2, Ryan does not appear to have been born and raised in the upstate but It does not ever seem to hinder him when dealing with people (nice to see), 3, how do people like the guy with this moving truck find this stuff??? Maybe answer is in rest of the video and he works for or owns a business like toy federation, I mean theoretically he could be a groggy flips type and spends money to make money (or like Justice Curry on the tubes), but damned if these aren’t some awesome finds to have for sale!
Also still excited to come into the store, had to postpone from last week when I was down in the upstate due to a nasty cold, then schedule after that didn’t line up with trip over to Greer. I get chance again to head south in two weeks tho, and will finally be able to walk into the store. Probably need AED ready when I have a heart attack like Fred Sanford, “Elizabeth it’s the big one”!
Can’t wait for you to come in!
Awesomeness!!!!you were right they don't make toys like that anymore another great video
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you! And no, they definitely don't make them like the used to. It's so sad.
yo the seller guy look like the actor from game of thrones Sam
Awesome as always gentlemen , keep it coming great channel 👍 👏
Thanks for always being here!
Another great episode
Thanks!
The toy wars were no joke
I remember when I got the Crusader as a child ❤ Still have it somewhere...it's definitely beat up cause I was playing with those toys HARD.
I found a couple of my old Army Ants recently! Wish they had their weapons.
Who remembers Army Ants??
I guess nobody remembers Army Ants haha 😄 Pepperidge Farms remembers and so do I
I had a bunch of Army Ants.
Hell yeah
Dont all good deals happen in moving trucks?
Couldn’t afford a Defiant as a kid. Still can’t afford one…😂
Ha!
Got the coffee ready, Mancave, Chairup Let’s go!!!
Let’s go! Hope you enjoy!
Unpopular opinion. WOw! That scene was specifically designed to sell that giant toy! Im fascinated by this toy because it's such a big, obnoxious hunk of UGLY! Pure nostalgia buy for sure. what a monstrosity in design! Doesn't even look right in the cartoon!
COOOOOOLEST STUFF "EVER" " THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!"😂❤
I am looking for some defiant parts, I notice you bought 3 defiant's out of a truck. Do you have the shuttle canopy by chance. Thanks Chris G San Diego, Ca
Fun to see a guy on ebay selling one in a box for $40,000 while another guy has the same thing for $8000 with no bids. As a matter of fact, no Defiant toys have a single bid.
120 bucks for a toy in 1987 is nuts.
Yeah the shit was crazy overpriced
MONSTROID!!!
How much would charge someone for a gi Joe defiant , just courious🤩🤩🤩
You could do with a rode wireless mic I these picking situations lol. Great video still ♥
You are hearing a rode wireless mic
Fak i Want a Not Complete Defiant And I'd Be Happy As Hell 😂😅
a kid in a candy store
amazing
Yep see how many people was around that truck buying stuff??
"Are they clean?" We talking toys or something I dare not say? 😄
Lets Get Dangoures!
Darkwing duck?
This is my favourite part of Saturdays, waking up and seeing a new video :) Do you have a way of contacting the store, I'm looking for a last piece to finish my collection, and I'm hoping that you guys might have it.
I can tell you that we don't ship so the only way you'd get it is by coming into the store.
I see he has a Rolling Thunder box in the truck any idea if he sold it?
Look at how many people are around that candy store
