    Nobody can become financially successful over night. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.

    The “Save Our Homes” process is crazy and doesn’t benefit everyone. I live in NY, and have looked at moving to FL, and because the housing prices have gone up so much, I could end up paying 3-4 the taxes as compared to my neighbor based on reassessment at the the time of sale. In NY, we reassess town wide. This helps rebalance the tax bills across the whole community. It works well, and FL needs to consider doing it. The houses I was looking at were in Bay County. The estimated taxes would be higher than what I am paying in NY.

    Property taxes are almost on par with NJ/NY . I have seen homes in Manatee for 500k with 9k a year in property tax, 650k house at 11.5k in tax and a 600k house with 6k in tax.. Its all over the map and this is just in Mill Creek area. No one can give you a straight answer so to be safe ... use 2.5% of purchase price.

    Great video; I lived in Oregon, taxes are lower; in Oregon they give no exemption. Someone told me their parents lost their home after they retired becuase the taxes went up too high to afford to live there. Florida and Texas give exemption - which is helpful to seniors. When I lived in Oregon, I was paying 1500 for taxes on a 699 sq foot condo. I live in Texas, have a 1100 sq ft home and pay with exemptions 785.00 a year. I am wanting to move to Florida - after living in Oregon, and no exemptions - I don't think I will complain, too bad about the recession - but it is what it is.

    I purchased a condo in a gated community as a second home and the reassessment raised the property over 100% from around $3k to $6k. Unfortunately, this topic just never occurred during my questioning and research. Plus, the prices were overblown and now dropping, hopefully the reassessment will drop.

    What is not clear with this seniority discount property tax system is whethor or not the county plays along with this or always applies the 3% to the properties most discounted first. If prices stayed flat for years or dropped, then new homesteader A would eventually pay closer to that paid by old homesteader B.

    Thank you for your informative video.
    A couple questions: Why is the school tax assessment value greater than the others? Or why does the school assessed value ignore the assessment cap and just use the market value?
    Is there a service that can help me challenge assessed values? We're from out of state.

    I live in Zephyhills, FL. Not exactly West Palm Beach! But I'm paying over $7500 a year in property taxes for a 2400 square foot home. That includes a CDD of about $2500. But don't you think that's ridiculously high?

    • @GillAgainsIsland12

      @@LivingInSarasota Yes! That lowered my tax base by $50,000 and STILL I'm paying $5000 a year and over $2500 for the CDD. And this is Zephyrhills. Nothing to write home about. Is there any agency I can complain to, as if they would listen?

    Florida property Taxes are obscene. Can the various local Government justify the Taxes? When you observe the workers most are skylarking on the job.How do the Associations and it employees,Private and Local Government compare to that of other employers?Florida Taxes are way out of line. The State Governor and the State Legislature needs to do something to contain the ridiculous annual increases in taxes.

    With so many purchases over appraised value, what can the under water home owner do?

  • @You-Smell-Good
    @You-Smell-Good Рік тому

    I get how all this works but it's confusing. I looked at Manatte Counties tax website to see how much tax people are paying in a community I am looking at. From what I see just about everyone is paying about the same amount. The assessed value was close to the same on all the units I looked at even though some were recently sold in the last year or 2. Could that be possible? That assessed value was well below the selling value. Could that be because the buildings themself are actually owned by the community?

    So if you don't homestead, the taxes just go up (or down) with assessed value each year? The 3% limit it only for homesteaders ?

    I have an investment home that i bought in 2019 in Orlando that I been renting out. I plan to move in finally as a primary home. Will this decrease my property tax? I paid $215k in 2019 and my taxes are $3200 :( which I think is pretty high for a townhome.

      If you homestead the property and convert to primary residence both the taxes and insurance should go down a bit.
