I so relate to Holly being very sad about the tree. I had a rose bush in front of the window of the bedroom I grew up in. It never needed water at ALL and it was a massive white rose bush that was the kind that grew really tall towards the sky. I think it was old enough that it’s roots extended towards the sewers. It would take over my window and I loves to look out and stare at it. Anyways one of my parents had a gardener come over that cut down the whole fucking thing and all that was left was a stump. When I looked out my window and saw it I cried. And even now I still get upset thinking about what happened to that rose bush.
God, I feel that. My grandparents had a pear tree in their yard, and always made pear pie with it. It was one of the most significant parts of their home for me, along with the barn. After my grandma passed away, around a year later a huge storm came through, took out the barn, and broke off the entire top of the tree. On the bright side, i thought the the tree died, but apparently it grew back somewhat and it’s growing pears again. My dad still uses some of the wood from the barn for his woodworking projects too. I hope you get to have a wonderful rose bush someday.
A core part of this mod is that you can experience it in so many ways. It is part of the charm. Reading the lore first, or doing it after. Playing it with no experience of doom, or a lot of experience with doom. It does not matter. It gives a unique experience for everyone, and that experience is meant to be shared. ^_^
The whole "Now something new can grow" thing Holly was saying during the first ending genuinely had an impact on me. Even in all the wreckage something new can take root. Time can heal something that's been so deeply destroyed, and eventually, above all, something new can grow. As someone who's been through a lot of shit that's left a lot of scars, I can't help but relate to it. But even through all the destruction and pain- something can be learned, and gained, and most importantly it can heal. Thank you.
I'm glad we get to hear the last of Holly's remarks on the reupload! And I said this on the other upload, but I still think Holly would love House of Leaves. I don't know how it would translate to audiobook, but I'd be delighted if she wanted to attempt to read it aloud in a future stream series.

4:49:30 I actually was one of the early adopters of the lawndoom myhouse speedrun scene. I only have the one Speedrun uploaded but I got on it day 1 when the challenge was posed, one of my proudest moments
so that's 2 for 2 on people i've seen talk about this game seeing the flat-screen TVs and immediately saying "oh huh that's weird, the original version of this map was supposed to be made before those were normal, right?" obviously it's not a serious issue but it's kinda funny
I really feel Holly when she explains that she needs to be explicitly loud and angry to make a point, because it's really easy for people to just steamroll you if you conform to the expected social conventions, people rely on you but wanting to make a scene, so when you give a response that actually conveys what you want people either figure out they've crossed a line or they get upset that you didn't just roll over on it
All of the songs that play in pre-stream have their names listed at the bottom of the screen. The one Holly uses when shes about to start is "soyo oka - capital theme"
lady holly of the tones' internet perished abruptly and without warning in the last few minutes of her closing segment, and was not included in the previous upload it is now included and intact, and as such the viewing experience is now complete for us all to enjoy may we all rejoice
Holly calling a the cozy(albeit a lil uncanny) doom-cute ass part of house brutalist is so rude & bold of her. Also sometimes she talks abt her friend named Star who has opinions on when things are vs are not brutalist/liminal & as a very pedantic person named Star it is very weird to experience even tho I know she is referring to a different Star than me.
"oss-way-go" took me out. like of course people are gonna think that's how it's pronouced, it looks that way, but getting the simultaneous gut punches that not only does this take place in the town i grew up in, but also hearing it be mispronounced so much is pretty funny to me. (it's pronounced oss-whee-go btw)
you need to find out about every Clue and Analyze everything in the Journal and Photos to truly find that out. If you dont, of course you will not find it.
I have seen so many streams of this get ruined by chat and it is amazing to see a streamer own their chat like Holly does at the start.

im pretty sure she can only do read aloud streams of works that are public domain. house of leaves was only published in 2000
