- I got the chance to sit down with Errolson Hugh - principal designer and co-founder of ACRONYM - to talk about some of FW20/21's latest releases. He explains the processes behind both designing brand new apparel and improving on previous releases, as well as a deep-dive on the creation of the Zephyrus G14-ACRNM RMT01 laptop.

Errolson is a great guy who will step aside to talk to anyone who appreciates his work. He is a very humble man, and after meeting him, hes more than what I assumed!

The option to wholesale more must be so tempting. The products are super marketable but to outsource manufacture to reach that kind of number is a trap. Complicated jackets and articulated pants don't lend itself well to that. But to just print design onto t-shirts and make a quick buck will cheapen the brand. Not many brands manage it successfully. Guess we'll see more colabs since that had been received well so far and it grows the brand.
Exactly, for a lot of brands it's a compramise or balance they have to reach between their 'real' products or their runway stuff and the logo tees or other basic stuff they know they can make higher volumes of at a large margin. Acronym is pretty unique in that as a brand it doesn't really do that at all.

This is an outstanding first interview. You were obviously well prepared but still gave the conversation a very natural flow. Really hope to see more of this kind of content in the future on your channel, the techwear community goes to such lengths to anonymise and de-humanise (in an aesthetic sense, not political) and makes some beautiful things in those efforts, but is fundamentally still a subculture made up of exciting people. Seeing so much personality shine through here was really wonderful.

Would love to do more interviews so we'll see what happens 😀 I think lots of brands could definitely add value by hearing the designer's thought process and how they reached their final products in a way that's not always clear from the products themselves (e.g. with the tension zip here)

Huge Congratz on getting this interview! Hopefully this is the first of many to come. Feels like it's the first time Errolson took the time to do an interview with a UA-camr. I feel you asked a lot of relevant questions which he appreciates as its coming from a tech enthusiast and about the culture.

OFFTOPIC: I can't afford like anything techwear, cuz I live in Bulgaria and it sucks hard here, but one day :D Got the ACRONYM Presto's tho, it's a start!
I didn't understand the design of this laptop, when it showed up, but now, when I saw this multiple colours keyboard in this video, I kinda liked it. You'll see, many other manufacturers of laptops will make their keyboards with multi-colour buttons in few years. It was a great interview, Errolson is amazing, as always, and Antwon is a good interviewer. Also it's a big milestone for Antwon's channel, cheers!

Always fun to hear someone picking his brain, he seems like a nice and genuine dude. Just a big geek. Gotta admit I missed literally everything about the ARG thing. Weird how that just blew right past my feeds.
It wasn't publicised much, it was mostly through a 'secret' account that Errolson made an Instagram post about and later deleted. There were 1 or 2 IG stories too. Quite a few things were done semi-privately too through IG DMs and such

Even if I was crazy rich I still wouldn't buy most brands with insane prices, but this brand would be too hard to resist. (Custom clothes would also be)
At the same time I'd also be more willing to trial-and-error with cheaper brands and secondhand etc., and recoup a bit/give new life with reselling.
I really hope Techwear can try and cater to folks living in tropical and equator, where jackets and layering may be tricky in these regions. Hope to see some attention for more summer techwear shirts in the near future.

@@acemoto2319 I'm mixing guerrilla-group, enshadower, riotdivision with some uniqlo, nike, nike acg tops. Im surprised uniqlo J+ oversized button shirts is utilitarian and works well in techwear.
