I love these videos! I'm pretty new to ICARUS have completed a few missions and I'm like level 26. Last night I wanted to make the shotgun and not the bolt action rifle, I finally made it, went into the arctic (first time going in) got charged by a polar bear which is scary as shit haha and thought I could take him down with the shotgun alone...I was wrong! all shots hit and he killed me...Where gonna need a bigger gun.
@@ShabbyDoo Yes but only but bone is not really used once you get into iron because other then arrows it's not really used. I'd say save the sulfur for it's there uses.
I came here to mention that too. Tons of XP killing/skinning things, and you get plenty of bone with a decent knife. You need to sulfur for several other things (like gun powder). You will definitely come across some animals on your way to a sulfur node. If you get sneak head shots with bone arrows, you can recover every arrow. You can kill Grizzlies in 2 shots, if the first is a sneak, and can often recover them both. That's what makes bullets too expensive to use on anything but polar bears, and boss creatures.
@@ShabbyDoo not unless you're an actual murderer like I end up being every single time I hop on 😂 I did the agricultural stockpile and when I finally finished the food I already had the supplies to turn in for the hunter portion
Shabby I better warn you that you have yet to extract the exotics.... wait till you find out they NERFED the drilling time so now each exotic take just around 1 minute to complete. This took me over 3hrs 20 minutes in real time on top of what you've already accomplished to get through the six cans of biofuel needed to run it.. Bring coal for your fires not wood or you'll run out quickly and read a book while waiting or surf the net. Save on ammo & arrows. Build a pitched roof in a 1x1 to save your roof getting smashed in due to weight of snow.

@@ShabbyDoo IM already getting bored with the game! Wish we could keep our base and continue to do missions. Once you have the best bow and rifle the game is super ez! When are we getting animal rugs? lol
When u have to build radar, and that's a pain in the ass, hunting rifle can by make quite easily. In other cases good bow and shotgun will do the work.
Is durability an issue with either, the reason i ask is i made a bolty on a mission and had to grind tier 4 anyway so i ended up with a hunting rifle. In this scenario i know i should have just skipped bolty but i had a ton of steel and was grinding electronis so i made bolty while waiting. Should i destroy the bolty, or just keep it as back up? Havent used guns enough to know if i ever need to worry about durability.
Once you have a hunting rifle just destroy the bolty, you won't go back. Durability is nearly a non issue unless you shoot hundreds of shots from that hunting rifle
If you need more than 1 shot to do the job, you shouldn't be using the bolt action. That being said, you shouldn't go out of your way to grind up to the hunting rifle either. Just hang on to your bolt action and research the shotty. 8 shells in there and you're getting up close and personal. If you can't finish the job in 8 shots. . . . . . . . . . . You're better off researching hedgehogs and hiding behind a 5-layered wall of them.
Bolty is still a good use for 2 shotting polar bears as well, just have enough distance to reload and get that second shot! haha. Shotty also works in that instance of course. If you don't hit all headshots though you may need 2 shot gun shots, depending on the lvl too of course.
Ahem .... can someone please explain to the game devs what semi automatic is??? The hunting rifle is not remotely semi auto anything. Semi auto is you pull the trigger and it fires with no cocking. Fires as fast as you can pull the trigger.
Let's relax. It took 3 weeks for them to figure out how to grow a simple mushroom. For them to learn about how firing pins reset and how a bolt chassis works? We need a few years 😉
@@solson223 I can’t figure out why the lever action does more damage anyway. Like you said it is using the same round. If anything the bolt action should do more because it’s barrel is longer so it should be higher velocity.

For sure! You need to pop off a few rounds with just a short! That bolty will serve you well through 😉 Happy hunting!
Thank you so very much for explicit details about firearms. Darn! you are a good teacher lol
Hopefully it's all still accurate this far in the future!
Easier to make epoxy with crushed bone
If you have it sitting around sure, but going out and hitting a few nodes of sulfur and a couple trees will yield more in a much faster time.

This mission was BS haha. I didn't even get my exotics!
For sure hunting rifle solo. A single missed critical head shot against a polar bear with the bolt action ends horribly.
Quite! Unless you carry 5 like I did in one of our live streams...hahaha 😄
Forgot to add the Concrete mixer and concrete furnace.
True but the materials aren't too bad

i love the compaound bow but its a grinde to get it
👍
The Grind! Did the devs play ark? lol Hunting rifle is good but the bolte is cheaper!
Rofl! Agreed, it's an AMAZING weapon but the amount of time it takes to farm a bolty vs the hunting rifle...
@@ShabbyDoo Well after you make the hunting rifle the game becomes a joke
I made the hunting rifle yesterday and its so much nicer! 6 rounds is so much nicer. this rifle has a nicer sound when it fires!

I don't disagree with anything game related pros and cons, but the misuse of firearm terms is painful.

I only get about 1200 damage and takes 3 shots to kill polar bear so I’d rather have the hunting rifle
Yeah I'll always take the hunting rifle is a mission requires me to go into T4, otherwise it's not worth the time investment.
1200 is the crit dmg you get once you're not hidden anymore and the bear can see you. That first sneak shot is 2.5x, which gets the big crits.

broo no way I'm in the game
I can’t figure out why titanium is used in a rifle. That is a very un ideal material for a rifle.
They have to explain away why the same bullet coming out of the hunting rifle gets the 100% crit dmg buff... lol.
@@solson223 I can’t figure out why the lever action does more damage anyway. Like you said it is using the same round. If anything the bolt action should do more because it’s barrel is longer so it should be higher velocity.
Simply, it's the highest lvl resource and you need the 2nd highest tier pick to acquire. That's the only logic.
