I cut the hole in the top and bottom of the pumpkin about one inch around . the sweater tucked into the hole with NO GLUEING NECESSARY! it was so easy.
I made 3 of these darling pumpkins during the fall and even put a couple drops of lavender on the sweater and gave as a “Bibbity Bobbity Serenity Pumpkin” birthday gift for my friend who suffers from anxiety. She loved it! Thank you for this wonderful inexpensive idea!
Guess who is going to go raid the thrift stores for cable knit sweaters??? Everyone who watches this video. 😜🍁🍂 Love these! So adorable! Can't wait to make some!
@@thepaintedsouth Right!! It's still so hot here in Northern California... it doesnt feel like Fall at all this year, but I still have my Fall candles burning, decor up, and consistently adding to it especially after this video, lol!!
You're probably right. I have a sweater thats on its last legs that I,haven't been able to get rid of. Now I know exactly what to use it for. Thanks so much
Adorable! 1 tip I'd like to share I discovered years ago when I was trying to spray paint something styrofoam and, of course was ending up with a melted mess! I didn't know what to do but I thought, why not try to coat it with something so that's what I did! And it worked! Been doing ever sense and always works. Ready for the big reveal? Elmer's Glue! Just coat your piece with Elmer's, let dry and spray away! Hope this helps and Happy Halloween!
Great idea with such adorable results. These would make for wonderful keepsakes too if you made them from sweaters that belonged to loved ones. TFS this DIY.
This is such a fantastic idea! One of my Dollar Tree's sells these silicone finger caps for removing nail polish, but since they're 100% silicone they do protect from burning your fingertips with hot glue.
Beautiful. Great job. Can't wait to try it. Thank you, thank you for showing me how simple, but really pretty this project is. You are very gifted. I'm almost 80 and it is true. You are never to old to learn. Thank you again!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video. We just put on a baby shower last week. The theme was a “pink” pumpkin...Our little pumpkin is on her way”...my niece was having a girl and we incorporated a fall like theme with the pink. We went shopping at thrift store and found a soft pink cable sweater. I made 4 of these pumpkins...and it looked just like yours!!! Wow! I did it! We found other things at the thrift store and were able to use them for decorations with a little paint. Anyways, it was a hit! My family all wanted a pumpkin! 🤣😁 Thank you again...new subscriber 🥰
Super cute super eazy love that its not going to cost you a ton of money. I hate all of these diys that cost $$$ for stuff from the dollar tree in order to make something that you like. I have tons of sweaters and those pumpkins are plentiful at mt dollar tree . I work for one a put a bunch on the shelf today.
Yay so glad you enjoyed it! I would go broke if I worked at a Dollar Tree Patricia!!! Can't wait to see your Pumpkins! Tag me on FB and IG when you make them! :)
This was by far the best sweater pumpkin DIY yet. Thanks for sharing. I'm running to the dollar store now! They are beautiful. I think I'm going to dress mine up with just a little dazzle for my "bling" tablescape!
This is so clever! And I love the sun-bleached oatmeal of the sweater alongside the sandy-colored burlap of the stem, curlicues and leaves of the pumpkin! It's so tasteful-looking, very relaxed and beachy! Brava, sis! 👌
How I did mine that made even easier , cut the sleeve a little longer so those ends can tuck into the holes at each end , no hot glue needed ! Add embellishment . Very nice job ty for sharing !
I love the fabric pumpkins. I did not want to throw away my granddaughter's stocking caps away. Stuffing them and gathering them at the opening then wrapping jute or wire around the top and wrapping around pumpkin, insert a stem and make a burlap bow work so great. Buffalo plaid bows, the sage green, beige, brown even white, neutral colors are so pretty and easy. Some of the hats come with cable ribs. However, these are just lovely and smart. The cable rib makes the pumpkin ribbing without jute around them. So pretty.
I love this so much. I was thinking for the bottom you could. even keep it open and use a battery operated tealight inside. I wonder if the glow would show through?
Hmmmm I dont know Reedus! May be kinda cool to carve a Jack-o-lantern in the pumpkin before you cover it... put the tea light in. Im sure that would show through. Not sure if it would if it wasnt carved. Try it and see :)

I’ve had thrift sweaters for several years and one of DH’s old sweaters; part of one was going in a frame and sweater pumpkins were also to be made. TFS. I was trying to figure out how to use the body, but thanks to your tutorial, maybe this will be the year! They look great. So expensive and cosy. They are for any fall decor, not just farmhouse.
If anyone can't find sweaters in the colors or patterns they want but know how to knit, it would be easy to whip up a K2 P2 tube to use for this. I'm so excited for next fall!

Tiger Buchman n how much do u think the sweater cost ? Guessss!!! Depend on which store u go ; Guess store will cost u $80, Forever 21 will cost u $40, H & M will cost u $40. I guess that pumpkin craft isn’t so cheap either😂😂😂. Just go to Fabricland / fabric store to get 50 cm , might cost u $5 lol
To stuff the excess sweater in (she said she cut this one really close/a lil short) so that it will still be flat on top and bottom. This sweather was prolly $3 from the thrift store.

This is the best Dollar Tree craft I have seen. How ingenious. Those would easily be $15-30 each, depending on where you buy them.
