If it smells like poo, its probably poo...
You can remove and re install the alternator on these trucks without releasing tension on the belt, you remove the mounting bolts and roll the alternator out from under belt, same process to re install, saves some work.
I liked the impromptu chipmunk narration at 6:50. I'll stick around for the campfire, too.
Nice truck i have a 1997 Ford f-250hd and they are some beautiful trucks
For the record....the reason your charging gauge in the dash wasn't showing anything when you first started the truck is because the glowplugs pull a lot of amps for a short period after you start the truck. When you see the needle jump up to show it is charging, that's when the glowplugs turn off and stop "glowing".
Did you not disconnect the batteries before swapping the alternator? I have always been told that it can instantly fry the internal regulator when you plug the alternator wires back in, if the batteries are still connected?.
I think I’ve got a few things going on now. It’s charging fine but there’s still something causing a drain.
use the Amp clamp on the meter, read how much power the alternator is kicking out.
Awesome video Troy!! I love your videos. I’m thinking about getting a used jag when I start driving soon not sure what should I get do you have any advice or good opinions?
Send me the links first haha.
@@AddictedMotors I really haven’t found any for sale in Richmond VA. I hope there’s some out there
I have some advice: learn to finish sentences with fukking periods.
I just installed a high output alternator today and the batt. gauge stayed low like yours and after about 15 seconds it would go past the middle. Does yours still do that?
They should all do that due to the glow plugs.
@@AddictedMotors ok thanks! New to these trucks...after a recent audio upgrade that's when I started having issues with charging and previous to all this the battery gauge just stayed in the middle.
