A day after returning TS5 back to Hornell for warranty work of some kind, Amtrak takes delivery of TS8. Enjoy =)
Full action from this date: • Amtrak, NJ Transit, & ...
Even though the Avelia Liberty is still not running in service yet after all these years, its great that these trainsets are coming in one by one, knowing that there will be more of these instead of running just one or two if they would’ve started initially before.
That distinct "ting!" as each wheel crossed over the joints in the rail by that switch... I pick up on the oddest things... wtf is wrong with me? 😂😂
Beautiful night filming! Greetings from Romania! ❤
So ready for these to be in service
I never thought i would see a P42 leading! The avelia's are a bit weird in shape due to there power cars and cars. the p42 is my fav part :D
Intentional design decision due to the clearance envelope regarding the cars’ ability to tilt
Nice catch
i would like the avelias more if they ran along side the regular acelas
At thia rate all the train sets will be delivered before a single one enters service.
that train looks awesome also how did they couple it up to the coach (the one being hauled by the p42)
Adapter
Behind the noses are AAR couplers. The set itself is bolted together, but the sets are coupled to each other, and any other railcar.
Amazing catch
Awesome catch
Great catch :)
These have been delayed again; Now they’re saying not until late 2024 🤦🏻♂️
That's also what I heard from Amtrak
Because just like everything new, it must be thoroughly tested and all issues corrected before it enters. Better to have it delayed than to run and ultimately crash.
@@davidng2336This is so fucked up though. Either Amtrak doesn’t have these entering service on their priority list or the government just dislikes European trains. There is absolutely NO REASON these should not already be in service, let alone delayed by another year
Either way amtrak is putting a bunch of mods on it our it’s putting some mod for it doesn’t derail on tight turns it’s gonna go like 220max speed it’s also gonna have a bigger bathrooms automatic doors technology to provide you with things you need and also it goes out sometimes it’s just the lack of tracks it goes on and also testings
Hopefully this means that those new Avelias will be in revenue service soon!
Not for the foreseeable future
@@nathanielcoleman5694next year damnit.
Not until LATE 2024 into 2025 apparently.
WOW FAN RAILER!!! First look for me of TS8. When and WHERE will the new Acelas be running? NE corridor?
Nowhere for the foreseeable future
So Amtrak bought them not to use?@@nathanielcoleman5694
@@nathanielcoleman5694you do realize like everything new it must be thoroughly tested right?
@@davidng2336 They need THREE years?!?!? That's nothing more than an excuse.
when are they putting these in SERVICE
Welcome!!!!
Build by Alstom ? It look likes the French TGV Highspeedtrain!
Because its on the model of the TGV M
Yeah, they're literally just TGV M/ Avelia Horizon trains. The previous Acela was also based on the Alstom TGV trains but the US regulations used to be too different so they had to heavily modify it for US loading gauge. Since the regulations changed we're seeing a lot more European trains in the US!
Where do you get the intel from about these trains?
I think he gets them from amtrak radars. He probably also might be a amtrak employee i dunno
Know the right people
@@FanRailer solid stuff. you really know how to get around!
I don't understand how procurements work. Why are they still delivering trainsets if the news keeps reporting they don't meet FRA standards? Can someone clarify?
They can be delivered, but not accepted for service. Once they receive FRA approval and are then accepted by Amtrak, they can all go into service at once instead of 1 train at a time.
@@FanRailer But wouldn't the trains have to be modified to meet FRA standards?
Yes, and that is why if you read the description, you'd know they sent TS5 back the day before and received TS8 in return. 2-4, 6 & 7 all have to go back now.
@@FanRailer yeah thanks. I'll not ask any other questions.
A P42 in Penn Station!
finally they doing something with it
Imagine n.j.t. Purchase those??????? 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Those things are so bad
P934 acela
Since they are not going into service until 2024, can they change that horrible European sounding horn?
Maybe yes, maybe no. Deal with whatever they ultimately use.
Great catch...
but that is the UGLIEST train I've ever seen on American rails. It's not intuitive at all. It doesn't line up. The cars are too short. The nose of the train looks like someone hit it with a 2x4... the power car doesn't line up with the passenger cars and will create a huge load of drag behind it. Then again, it's not going to go fast enough to worry about it.... such a shame.
