- Go Here to Download Your Book - www.myboxingcoach.com - A great way to instil head movement is boxing head movement drills. And a great way to build boxing head movement drills is to model those drills on the skills of one of the finest boxers you'll see - Salvador Sanchez.
In the most recent video I produced, I defined my 5 fearsome factors of the Salvador Sanchez boxing style. One of those fearsome factors was Sanchez's ability to seamlessly combine his punching with fantastic head movement - the Salvador Sanchez roll if you like.
Based upon that particular Sanchez skill, I've designed 3 boxing head movement drills to help you bit and not be hit - kind of the point of boxing.
These drills use only 4 skills, but, the bigger picture is to enable you to transpose other skills to give you lots of variations. The key principles work regardless of the particular skills or boxing defences that you use.
The 4 boxing head movement drills are:
Drill 1 - Jab with the inside roll
Drill 2 - Right cross with the outside roll
Drill 3 - Jab with the outside roll
Drill 4 - Right cross with the inside roll
So those drills provide the principles. There is flow and counter-flow in respect of the type of punch and the defense deployed. You can evolve the boxing drills to include any punches and pretty much any of the other defences.
For example you could use the close range left hook and the inside roll. Or you could use the close range left uppercut and the roll outside. Or the duck, or the slip.
The you can add more punches, so 2 shots, or even 3. Build in the concept of moving the head after the punches.
Do the boxing head movement drills and get the benefits, and we can thank Salvador Sanchez for the inspiration.
Cheers
Fran

That Pablo Picasso quote was pure gold! "Learn the rules like a professional, so you can break them like an artist."
Agreed!!! A cool watch is Floyd and Mike Tyson’s defensive highlights on UA-cam. Another pot of gold!
In addition, another thing that I think really helps with head movement is just sparring. When you start sparring regularly, you get used to seeing punches coming at you and what the different punches look like..
Fantastic you are making boxing accessible to everyone.
Salvador Sanchez, RIP, brother!
Thank you so much coach! You're always the best in making it easy to understand
Thank you, that's very kind 👍
@@myboxingcoach you're awesome coach. Your book helped me a lot
One of the most knowledgeable coaches out there...pretty smart guy outside of boxing, has tons of worldly knowledge
Thank you so much sir I am learning a lot from you Thank you
This is a great lesson will be using it with my kids. 👍🏽
Great video. Salvador Sanchez best pound for pound fighter of all time.
I've been focusing a lot on defense. Learning so much from coach Anthony and frans sand. It boosts your confidence when sparring!!! You'll go in the ring knowing that you wont get hit as much. Focus on defense fellas
I've been boxing for a while. At first, I watched many UA-cam channels and couldn't tell who was good and who wasn't. Now I know just how correct and great you are at teaching the important fundamentals to great boxing technique. My coach is fantastic and you brilliantly teach the principles that he's teaching me; coordinating hands with the feet, small concise movements, and so on.
Such a good teacher and so easy to follow and listen to. Thanks, Fran!
Pure technical boxing 🙏🏾🥊
I've been waiting for this! Going to start drilling this now! Thank you so much!
Hope you enjoy the work Anthony 👍

Excellent video
Thank you 👍
Thanks coach ,looks like the Mike Tyson style and deadly.
Great teaching as usual.
Start with static work then progress to dynamic. Also the defense flows counter and flow can be paired as one drill after a combo or dingle dot etc lots of options
Single shot *
Thanks pal. Just checked your channel. Post more mate, quality coaching that...just subbed 👌
Would you be able to make a detailed video on the slip bag? Or is the slip bag not effective? I don't see many videos on it. Mostly heavy bags and speed bags. Anyways thanks for honoring Salvador Sanchez, my favorite boxer 🇲🇽. Been a subscriber almost a year and have put your videos into practice. Thanks man.
Kindly make a Video analysis on Dmitry Pirog fighting style/Defence Thanks.
Great suggestion - noted 👍
Fran do you do in person coaching?
As I don't spar , Should i use this in to bag work routine or incorporating this into shadow boxing is enough.
I kept getting told that a straight and cross are the same punch. I couldn’t argue because every average joe you ask says ‘they’re the same punch’. I feel so validated by this video hahaha
Someone once told me that it's called a cross because it crosses over the jab
*Do you recommend practicing it with gloves on say 8oz to 12oz or without at first then add gloves?*
Hi Erik. You can please yourself really. For these drills in the gym with the boxers I let them leave gloves off - they have them on for bagwork/sparring etc so any time they can be off on other activities is all good 👍
A true great, and a tragic loss.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥊🥊🥊✌🏻
My coach usually says do it from the waist when you roll.
Yes, some do. We all have different viewpoints 👍
@@myboxingcoach thank you sir . 🙏 I'm from South Africa learning from the best which is you .
I think i am Ethiopian 🇪🇹 future champ
Get em!
