- hi guys! I finally found some time to edit these clips - work has been so BUSY lately 🥲
The #1 question I always get is, how many hours do u work per week and what does a day to day life of an investment banker looks like. And the answer is always “it depends”. Here is a Monday in my work life in office. I rarely know what staffings/deliverables might pop up each day, so hours and workload vary drastically.
Hope you guys stay for more videos on my work life & personal exploration outside of work! Come join my journey as I navigate though the corporate world as a 23-year-old!
lmk if there are any videos you want to see next :)))

When you venture into the world of financial investment, it's important to understand some foundational principles
It simply means the allocation of money toward an asset or portfolio, with the expectation of earning a return over time.
Yes, It a procedure where you allocate money or capital towards buying financial products, expecting to earn a considerable return in the future.
According to Patricia strain an expert, this can occur through appreciation in the price of the asset, earning interest, dividends or royalties.
I agree with you. I started out with investing on my own, but I lost a lot of money. I was able to pull out about $200k after the 2020 crash I invested the money using an analyst, and in seven months, I raked in almost $673,000
Patricia Strain must be a great person, her strategies are top notch.
So funny the little tricks they use to keep you later hours. Food after 6 and uber after 8. These people really are strategic
I worked at a law firm with similar perks and I definitely thought it was “cool” when I was younger! Lol
Most employers have this
bro are u dumb?
Honestly IB and PE are the most lucrative businesses in the world. People who want to move up will work hard, long and smart. If these "perks" change people's mind, there will always be replacement.
@@TibFoxL yea they often attract people with no personalities
That's too much work. You know it is. I hope this isn't everyday
Don’t need to study anything for this
I used to work in advertising, which was the same "hustle culture" as you showed in your video. As you get older you'll eventually realize that spending these insane amount of extra hours is simply not worth it, since you're missing so many things in your personal life. The only good thing: as soon as you're in a "normal" paced job, you're resilient to stress that barely nothing throws you of the track anymore.
advertising with 100 hour weeks, you serious bro ???
This is so true. I used to work 14 hour days for a few years when I was younger and slowly realized that it wasn't worth it. Eventually switched to a slower paced job and now I have more time to focus on health, family, friends and hobbies. And yes once you go through this experience - you do also become very resilient to all kinds of work-related stress - like you'll still be stressed but you know that you've gone through worse and this time can't be as bad as before.
@@maba5202 Yep.
@@maba5202 They must be advertising the cure for cancer or something
As someone who has been in the work world for quite a few years the one thing I treasure most in a job is BALANCE!
investment banking sucks ass.
Brilliant video, showing the true realities for people interested in going into IB. It's a lifestyle choice!
I appreciate these types of videos showing "a day in the life", especially from banking. I also appreciate the experience of a woman in banking, because, quite frankly, I do feel a woman will address undesirable aspects head-on like managing stress and mental health. I think, far too many of us men, shy away from this stuff, when we all are human and go through it. I like the videos. Keep them coming. All the best here from Canada.
Don’t speak for “us men” lmao, speak for yourself.
So nice of you to show true work hours! I am getting into corporate law and one thing that annoys me about tech/analyst/law influencers is they only show the good side of the job like the food stipend the fancy buildings etc they don’t actually show the ‘work’ part you have to put in long hours every day even weekends sometimes and it’s not for everyone
Yep! I went into accounting and learned the same the hard way. When i was in college, we had all these fancy dinner parties with executives from the Big Four firms, one of the senior partners from Ernst & Young even invited his “chosen protégés” out for weekends on his yacht. They always showed us what the glamorous side of the industry was like, but never showed us the 100 hour weeks we would endure during busy season, the massive toll it takes on your mental AND physical health, and how little personal life you get to have.
@@ninja_tony are you still doing accounting? Or did you switch careers? I am thinking of going into accounting.
Oof, been there done this. RUN away from these kind of jobs, or at the very least make some connections, save up a bit, then try something more indepedent that doesn't ruin your life. With these jobs, you blink and you're 40/50 years old wondering where your life went. Corporate life is no way to live.
This looks horrible I am so sorry for you even if you make a lot of money not being able to live your life sounds horrible
That's a LOT of hours :( take care!
thankssss trying to have a healthy work life balance : ‘ )
@@angies_listt wishing you the best ☺️
@@angies_listt thx for the ❤ much appreciated :) hoping you're doing well :)
I work in the back office at a Wall Street bank as a Data Analyst. Thankfully my hours are pretty normal besides that odd meeting with the India or Australian colleagues. I am never on call since I just run regular schedule reports and respond to special request. Not too bad of a role but looking more into the Tech side and eventually become a Sales Engineer or Account Executive.
So data analysts/engineers/scientists generally have pretty good work&life balance? Even in new york?
You're ruining your health without realizing it. The hours you work are just insane. There are more things to life than job titles or acquiring goods and services. You're on the fast track to develop a burnout and possibly other stress related illnesses. Additionally, as you're aware, the law of diminishing returns states that every additional work hour is going to yield weaker results. Don't do this to yourself, for both your mental and physical health. You need time to socialize, rest and enjoy life.
She gathers a shit ton of money for 2-4 years while gaining valuable experience in business, then her exit opportunites are huge with high salary and a good work life balance+ there is an in building gym for physical health, sounds good to me.
@@Deeb741Definitely not true, 2-4 years? no way the average isn’t even that low most people in this industry slave away for yearsssss
She wants to achieve things
@@r-fe6exmost people leave banking after 2-4 years, because there are a number of exit opportunities available
This is your way of viewing life, there are pros and cons to this as well. Let’s be very real, people in their 20s and 30s thinking with this mindset, end up financially weak when they have kids. They aren’t able to give their family a comfortable life. Everyone has their own priorities in life, it just depends on your perspective, as to what matters to you
I worked very hard, long hours as well when I was at your age. Then I got very serious health problems. Take care.

자기의 젊음은 돈으로 환산할 수가 없는데.... 노비같은 인생을 사네...
Reminds me of my life in my 20s. But I think it was worth it hustling constantly for a few years to set myself up a good financial and knowledge foundation that is still benefiting me. These days I work 20-30 hours a week.
Hey buddy sorry to disturbed what's is a good cource to pursue now days like i am really into finance but thinking of investment banking is just 80-120 he's let's just assume even if we work for 1 year for at least 100$ is there any other cources like 50-60 hrs a month ? In finance !
Girl why? What are you working towards? How do you enjoy your income with this level of exhaustion?
Some ppl search for purpose in different ways
Think I'd rather off myself than do that job.
I work 13 hour days, but only 3 days a week. 12 hours at work 1 hour commute for both getting there and home. I could never have the sanity to have a job like this. Bless your heart
100h a week is normal in IB.
Thats why I would never choose this as a carrer path.
You probaly need to do that for 5 years until you move up in the carrer ladder and then finaly be allowed to work normal work hours for an even better sallary.
Unfortunately sucess is not guranteed, but atleast you make alot of money.
Here in germany the best banks offer 100k for 40h a week that is obv. way longer in reality (you get payed the hours you work more)
As ik in the law Buisness it looks similar and you arent guranteed to be accepted as partner.
Do you really think that the best option is to be in the office for 1 hour just to get free food when you can take advantage of that time to go home, relax, eat something you have prepared beforehand or order delivery or even cook and then continue with the job?
I love how we can see what you work is all about. Many do a day or work in office but we don’t see anything. So this is very interesting. Thanks for showing. Keep it up!
This looks horrible
Brutal day. Endless work. Impossible to have a prospering family with such a job. Job for a young single person only.
This was my early twenties. Soooo glad I'm out of this phase. Hang in there❤ Thanks for sharing. It's a good reminder for me what not to do again. lol
Corporate slave grind is so depressing
Investment banking jobs are soul crushing. That little extra money after heavy tax is not worth it.
I'm about intern full-time for a huge firm in FiDi, and I really appreciate a fellow young person's perspective. I'm not quite doing IB but it's also gonna be a grind and it makes me feel better than a bunch of others are in my shoes. It's crazy how I just graduated HS less than 2 years ago and now I'm 20 and building a career in Finance. Wish you all the best!
Someone I coffee chatted mentioned watching your channel and decided to take a look during a quick break before midnight grind. I used to work at the same bank as you I believe - security at door before even ID swipe, banks’ hotel right next door, black car service after 10, 2hr bookable beds? Surprisingly, it was nice to be reminded of that time and gave me the motivation to work through this dataroom. Sad to see the din budget is still same after 4 years tho
IT WAS 35$ BACK IN 2001
omg girl, i really hope you can find a way to not burnt out..
Looks like every work person in every country seems same : bad and long commute , uber at best , live in a studio or apartment which is a cluster, Uber eats or take outs , non-stopping typing , PPT/ words spreadsheet , sneaky coworkers, on top of that , low pay that can keep u not die but never live well . Why work ppl are giving birth ? Is there to much to expect from this kind modern slavery life ?
I can never work for anyone again!! Having your own business is the way to go ❤❤
We all work for ourselves at the end of the day. Doesn't matter if your client pays you as a 1099, W2 or corp-to-corp. Your clients are still your boss, no different than her manager is her boss.
I was about to type you're on a one-way ticket to burnout city but I can see you quit 4 months after this, I don't blame you, completely unsustainable way to spend your 20s!
yeah hahha i think each day it became more clear to me that my job was no longer serving me. very happy with my deicison :))
wow the fact that it's still light even after 8 must feel so safe
I like a lot this video. it is very important to show the real life, sometimes everything you find in UA-cam are perfect lives, no very real!! Great video!! 🔝🔝
Shows 99% day in life like everyone else casual stuff, 1% actual footage of day life as an Investment Banker in NYC
You don’t work 100 hours per week. I worked in this business for 25 years. All these people like to say they work 100-120 hours per week. NOT TRUE !!! This doesn’t happen! Get out while you’re still young. This business will drain your soul.
This seems awful I could never do it, I hope you’re getting paid like 300k+
I cant work with that time schedule 😂. 8 hours sleep is very very important to me. And it should between 10 pm - 06am sleep. You cant change that. I better change work than change my sleep schedule. Becouse i life better, better mood and everything when i have a good sleep
이 영상 한국 커뮤니티에서 돌아서 찾아보러 왔어요! 열심히 사시는 거 멋져요... 본받고 싶습니다😊
대단하십니다...너무너무 멋있어요 항상 힘내시고 건강 챙기세요!!
This is just depressing, no money is worth this
Wow, is this even living? It looks like slave labor lol. I have mad respect for you though and one day all your hard work is going to pay off when you're either promoted or using your experience to work a more balanced executive job later. I wish you all the best. I was a investment banking intern and later switched to accounting for better balance. In the end, I realized that type of work just didn't cut it for me. I basically started back at ground zero and worked my way to become a physician. Helping people is the greatest reward for me.
I couldn't see myself doing something like this long term.
선생님 진짜 대단하십니다
리스펙합니다…..
wow you have a good work ethic. im lazy unlike you , but atleast this can inspire me to be more dilligent haha. im 21 and going to start a 3 yr course after quitting studying something else before
Haha I also have days where I’m really lazy and unmotivated 🥲 it’s all about balance! Good luck on whatever you pursue 😌
You will get to a point where you realize that the money is not worth the time trade-off. I also work in the finance industry, and after 20 years, make around 500k. Obviously that sounds like a lot to most people, but it is the kind of amount an investment banker can make after 3 or 4 years. Honestly say that it’s been several years since any pay increase made any material difference to my life. If You are doing this because you have a well-defined plan to make a lot of money and get out early and good luck to you, just make sure you don’t get too accustomed to that income because lifestyle creep is very real. That being said it feels like yesterday that I was in my 20s, your time is your most valuable resource. Do you really want to give it away? There are plenty of jobs in the finance world don’t require 80 hour weeks.
Bruh! Your life span would be 42 yrs with this amazing work-life balance. 🤨🤨
Working in a similar industry in another country (Singapore) and i must say the hours are the same… the most dreadful feeling is having to continue doing work when home 😢
No amount of money can pay me to work like this. I just like you started my first year right out of college and quit right after 6 months of working there .
patrick bateman needs a reservation at dorseos!! look at my business card! every morning i moisturize my face
the sad thing is the culture portrayed in that book is true! these people can barely interact with other humans
Awful job... sorry
전 5시간자는데...하루왠종일 토할것같고 머리아픈데 대단하시네요 진짜..
14 hour of work and what is in your bank account after deducting taxes and expenses sweetheart ? When you stare at that figures thats why you are looking at additional source of wealth like what you are doing now. Pretty pathetic. I just expose the truth within just a few senentences.
In another year or two you will be eager to leave and exit for new career
This is a real description for a very demanding job. it´s possible you read in media Investment Banker is glamorous job , but obiusly not in thar level. Video🔝🔝🔝🔝
8:32 aw hell no whatt? i think you need to call the hr department lol
Girl, this is not it...
Great, I am starting a job as an Analyst in Finance next month. I was told I would be working 60-hour weeks regularly and the pay is good, but if it's 100 hours, that will drive me crazy. Hope that does not happen.

Yayy welcome ily🥰
Wow, the way you use your hand to scan into your building is crazy! Does it read your finger prints that quickly?
You remind me of me, ha ha!
When I’m out flying 747’s all over the world that’s actually my time for rest and relaxation. And I have to force that upon myself - it’s very important that I always show up very well rested and ready to fly. Even small physiological issues such as slight fatigue, dehydration, etc. will turn into noticeably degraded cockpit performance.
But when I’m at home that’s when I’m dealing with my commercial and industrial properties. And that’s when I become an “eight hour worker” - eight hours in the morning followed by eight hours in the afternoon. And that’s on an easy day. There have been times when I’ve painted, done electrical work, or worked on other miscellaneous tasks for more than 40 hours straight. Crazy as it sounds - I actually enjoy that sort of thing!
Very unhealthy life style. enjoy the money though
This is a terrible, awful life.
I really appreciate your videos/ Tik Toks as a current summer analyst. Excited to keep watching.
Yayy thank you for watching

Hey , cool video!
I'm thinking about getting into this career path.
How much is the annual pay and does it require a lot of sales?
Love the juxtaposition between the happy music and depressing rants 😂😅
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
No life-work balance
This is toxic.
Good thing IB is a dying industry.
Thank you. Inspired me to recruit banking 😊
I'm in NYC...and also work like this. 😂
The song is low, high more
Where are you from??
Awesome video! How did you land a job like this. I’m currently in retail banking and want to make a move to IB
Ivy League or top 20 school
I did retail banking too. Unfortunately there’s not many ways to move directly. Most banks select from undergraduate (top universities), your next best bet is a top MBA.
i could never
I'm in my early 20's and it's so interesting to see the grindset that goes on in other industries. I think grinding is great if you have the energy and tenacity for it, but for me, I recognized early on that I just don't have that in me. I have panic disorder that made getting through school tough. Now that I have my degree I've been working a corporate job where I put in a standard 45-55 hours per week. I'm still stressed and I'm certainly not making as much as an investment banker, but I'm glad I found a job that matches my stress level. I think if I stepped foot on a sales floor I'd break out in hives 😅
I think those in their early or mid 20’s would think this kind of job would seem exciting without actually knowing really the amount of stress and pressure of the job. It’s good you can expose the truth to others. Good luck!
what a sad life
She has a much brighter future than you though. Eventually she has a good chance to make 7 figures in 10 years, retire early, support her family, travel and enjoy life. Also gets to enjoy NYC! Nothing comes easy. I'd be sad at your prospects for supporting a family and living in a HCOL city too.
@@kayflip2233where did you get this idea that in 10 years she’ll be making 7 figures lmao only a small % of people in the industry end up making big bucks and retiring ‘early’
Wow. Is your employer okay with you filming in the office let alone publishing on UA-cam?
