Hey Clay. My ex is with someone else and they are getting serious. She says she still loves me and at times we talk about her relationship. Am I selling myself short that I still give her so much attention and time? We live in different continents now but have expressed we hope to get back together should we find each other single and living in the same place. I’m just confused. Should I completely let her go and forget about everything?
My ex has BPD.
She pushed me fully away a couple of months back.
After we had got closer than we ever got before.
She didn't talk to me for a month.
She now messages and chats on the phone every day. But as friends.
She's even organised a special day out for my birthday on Saturday.
Should I just go along with this friends thing. No pressure, just get to know her again?
She even talked about the sex we had the other day.
Is it best to just enjoy our time together, go with the flow, be positive and understanding... And see what happens?
Hey clay I've been with my ex for 6 years and he told me he wanted to be single again I didn't beg him or anything I told him ok and then recently his sister told me he's been asking about me more recently cause I haven't been messaging him what could this possibly mean and of course he did say he wants to be friends?

Hi Clay, if they're in Wall of reactance, is it bad to reach out after a month and send something helpful or to them to make them happy and not expect/ask for a reply? I think it would show selflessness which would be a contrast to me being selfish during our relationship
If you're helping them, acting from a place of selflessness, and detached from outcome, then how could it be a bad move?
@@ClayAndrews Because I still have to apologize as you told me and I feel like it would be extra times of me reaching out, so I'd be reaching out more often (Shes in Wall of Reactance and wont reply to me, already sent an apology/accountability letter and text)
Hey Clay, I was in an LDR relationship with a bf based in Greece but we have managed a relationship for 9 months and even went on trips to 2 beautiful countries , Istanbul and his hometown, Greece. But as things started getting more serious , he decided to ask to take a step back and be single as he felt not ready for us to proceed to something more serious as our relationship was unfolding fast. I was a little bit hurt but i accepted this arrangement. He offered for us to stay friends. We are currently in a resting ,no contact stage as it just happened and we will talk again when we are ready. Should I take this offer ? This advice seems to be good for this arrangement as well. Hope you can give some encouragement ☺️

I would take this opportunity as i am in the same boat as you, she broke up with me yesterday and there is a chance she might get back together with me if i change the flaws about myself but she wants to be friends for now and take it day by day. My ex broke up with me 7 months ago after a major health scare/surgery. It had nothing to do with me. He felt he couldnt be in a relationship anymore and needed to focus on other things after he glimpsed his mortality. We've been lightly texting for about 2 months and last week, he asked me in a text if we're going to be friends. I was friend zoned!!!! I cannot just be friends with him. Too much chemistry and feelings toward him. Goes against my values. He wants friends and I want more.

I agree that, if you have self-respect, you would enforce a boundary at that point. However, to be fair, this is more of a mental fear that people have rather than a common thing they experience.
