I had birds flying down my chimney… so I called & got charged $3,672.00 to have my cap & chase cover replaced … took them 5 hours & a lot of banging…. One of the 4 existing boards was thrown down to the ground & I found it on the next day. That was all done July 2024…. Now winter is approaching….will run it & see if the job was done correctly…. Wished I had heard of this company instead. My brick home is 22 years old.
We do not offer galvanized covers because they will rust over time and you will need to replace galvanized. We offer stainless steel covers along with a warranty against rust / corrosion.
Great video, my chimney is leaking and continues to leak after the roof replacement from a hurricane in 2017, so now my homeowners says not their fault and the roofer says it’s on the inside of the chimney my problem, should I call u for a quote for a new cap?
I think everyone forgets their chimney because of its location😅especially in 150 yr old house needs tlc. Mine has no woodstove or fireplace and even if it is dangerous i like the look of it. It goes with the house😅 someone skim coated it in the attic but i have seen a brace online for masonry chimneys that looked like a hitch reciever tie system custom set up
Our average cover costs between $300 - $600 in stainless steel. We have free shipping to the lower 48 states. You can use our Quick Quote tool to estimate your cover cost here: www.rockfordchimneysupply.com/chimney-chase-covers/stainless-steel-chase-covers
I had my cap replaced and they used 26 guage galvanized which I understand is thinner than recommended. I live in hot humid rainy South Florida, so I expect this may rust through after only a few years. Has anyone here ever painted one to make it last longer in hot climate? I'm considering it but thinking the very hot temperatures on metal might make the paint peel and bubble making things worse. Any advice would be appreciated.
Great work! Oh man, your installer must have been a squirrel in a prior life. He made that look super easy. :)
Should the cap have 1" spacers to elevate it above the chase framing to allow the chase to vent?
Can water get in under the storm collar? Should that have been lowered down to the chase cover?
No it’s fine if water gets under there since the pantop is angled to make the water run down instead of inwards it will not leak inside of the chase.
Thank you for this excellent educational video. I learned a great deal. Carry On!
Hello. Should a CUSTOM chimney chase cover have an over hang and gasps?
Thanks 🙏
So mine blew off along with the cap I’m assuming this will work to re attach it?
how much did you charge for a job like this
Don't they make the caps that just sit on the chimney and dont need to be screwed down? Or do all of them need to be screwed down?
How old was the one you replaced? My Chimney Chase is 22 yrs old and looks pretty much as it did when it was installed.
This one was about 19 years old
Any idea what labor cost is for install? Normal roof access and the chase runs between 600-800? Labor?

With Stainless being what it is today, would hot galvanized be a better choice?
