    This is encouraging. I fell into Salesforce as an administrative assistant at my current company. I just became the go to person for salesforce. Creating training videos for the org, working with our SF admin to make things more efficient, creating reports and dashboards, etc. I recently transitioned to an Operations Role that was created for me and just literally got my admin certification today (yay). So now I'm hopeful to land an actual salesforce admin role, but was worried that I wouldn't be considered because I haven't actually had a SF role.

    I’m trying to break into the salesforce admin role. Currently training for it now. I’ve been looking at job listings out of curiosity and a ton of the jobs I see listed as an admin have 75-80% of tasks that a developer would do. I’m like 😮

      The only dev work that an admin should be familiar with is SOQL. I would steer clear of those jobs because they are looking to hire a dev for an admin salary.

    Amazing video as always. I'm an "Accidental admin" and loving how the platform works and resolving issues. But I have found I'm struggling with the apex code errors and API issues and not sure if there technical something an admin should do but loving learning new things.

      Most do the time Apex is a dev thing but learning it certainly doesn’t hurt! It will likely help you land a dev job later on if that’s what you want!

    I’m going to take the admin cert soon and with all I’ve heard about the Salesforce market right now I’m thinking about getting a 3rd cert before applying. Should I go for advanced admin, app builder, or something else to give myself an edge in the current job market? I’m currently a system administrator outside of the Salesforce ecosystem and I want to make sure I prepare myself as much as I can before applying for jobs

    • @salesforceemily

      You’re welcome! Some roles in Salesforce are. Typically admins do not code. That’s usually left for the Salesforce developers. You may be asked to test out some code through different scenarios but that would be testing for issues and errors from the users standpoint. But I will say that being an admin and learning those skills have helped me understand code better

    Hello Emly! At your opinion, is it possible to find remote job as a SF Admin?

    • @salesforceemily
      @salesforceemily  Рік тому

      100% possible,but the ease of getting a remote admin job definitely depends on a lot of different factors.
      These could be location of where you are and where the company is, number of certs you have, the types of certs you have, etc.

  • @uhohitsross12

    Hi Emily, I know you mentioned that you would get the associates certificate and than the admin. If I plan to get the admin certificate, why would it be necessary to get the associates? Wouldn't the admin training course cover everything in the associates? Thank you.

    • @salesforceemily
      @salesforceemily  11 місяців тому +1

      The admin covers about 2/3rds of what is covered on the associate. The outlier is the “salesforce ecosystem” section all about trailhead, certs in general, and different salesforce provided resources.
      It isn’t necessary to get the associate. However, it allows you to get a win under your belt and feel confident about your knowledge of salesforce. The admin exam is difficult and I’ve seen a lot of people give up on it. So getting the associate first would help you from a mentality stand point.
      Additionally associate could help you move into a salesforce adjacent job before getting the admin cert where you can work hands on with salesforce and that will help you pass the admin exam.
