Your torque output for the standard engine is wrong. The standard engine torque output is around 332 ft lb.
My hubby and I just test drove the CX70. Loved the power, torque, and ride. Looks big on the outside at first, but it's perfect for us. Handled great.
They should bring the cx60 to the US!
They should! I hoped in one here in Colombia and is literally the same size as the cx-90 inside.... which is why I feel the 90 is really cramped for its size.
They should discontinue the cx50 and build the cx60 in its place.
I'm a single guy with no kids, and I can't believe how much I like the CX-70/CX-90. So well designed! And the sun visors look top shelf too.
They just announced the cx80 in Europe, 4" shorter, could have brought that here maybe in a wide version with 2 rows. But that would make too much sense.
They coulda bring the CX-60 from other markets.
The CX-70 shoulda been a trim option.
People want a slightly larger and more upscaled CX-50 not a 3rd row delete CX-90
The CX-60 would have been too expensive for what it is. They will sell more 70’s than they will 60’s
@@DeadAir21 we’ll see about sale numbers. Both top trim CX-90 and CX-70 are about the same price at $56k.
Why would anyone pick a 3rd row delete for the same price?
@@Ziakel you know you’ll never use the third row and prefer the bigger underfloor storage. Also you want a bench seat on the top trim because you cant get that on the 90. And in terms of price they are the same price now but the 90 will more than likely go up again next year as it’s still a 2024 model year and the 70 is 2025.
@@DeadAir21 we do use 3rd row often in our Pilot and Sienna. Having options to fold is better than not having it. CX-70 is not the best move for Mazda.
@@Ziakel yeah having the option is great for you but not for everyone. A empty nester isn’t going to care about a 3rd row. A single person who doesn’t want children may not need or be interested in the extra seats. Mazda is giving you options. You want seating and versatility get the 90. You don’t need the seats and you want more covered storage get the 70.
great review that is straight, unbiased and yet informative about of this new Mazda CX-70.
That inline six sound humming in the background...SONOROUS!!!
Excellent review…it really appears that Mazda has fixed those minor issues that afflicted my CX-90 PHEV.
I have a CX50 and really want this as my next car
Great review! Really Insightful!
I'm not old & I like it. I'm In my 30s & I find it attractive. Nice job Mazda
How is it over city potholes.
Great video Lyn!
Informative and fun--nicely done!
I'm 25 & I love this CX-70. I'm a single guy with no kids so I was originally considering the CX-5 Signature, but this new CX-70 Interior is stunning in that red or tan with the Polymetal Gray blue-gray exterior
Great review!!
Thye shouldve brought the cx60 to the US!!! That is what people wanted.
The CX70 was on the top of my list to replace our GLE... but I was hoping we got a CX60 sized vehicle.
I actually love the shifter set up. It makes a ton of sense in multi-point turns and is not so different that you won’t be used to it after the first ride
I cannot wait for this to come to Australia. This looks perfect for my family of 4.
As a 27 year old with no kids this makes me crave the hybrid CX-5/50
I have the cx5, NA 2.5 non hybrid.
I’m 6 2 wide build.
Overall I love this car, space is a lackluster with a kids seat.
But the quality of the car, and I’m beating it up badly (22k annually) it’s a solid car, just make sure to buy it after a lease - you’ll save the bull of the depreciation
@@fatman5377 thanks for the info. I am holding out for the hybrid CX5
@@tristantownsend64 that’s going to be a while.
Right now they’re talking 25-27 to introduce PHEV, full hybrids according to what i can see are not that good.
I’m getting 29.3 on my CX5 on premium and 28.1 on regular fuel.
@@fatman5377 the hybrid CX-50 may have to do if they can get the price right
@@tristantownsend64 honestly I would leave the Mazda as is for purists, it’s great engineering, great driving experience
I wish they were as big as Hondas
Exact same price as the CX-90 so what's the point?
Exactly
If you know you're never going to want that third row, you can get some extra under-floor storage. That's basically it, aside from the visual differences.
Sportier steering and design. It’s a whole different vibe and audience
I had 4 Mazdas and I loved them, and was excited for this one but they lack so many small little details...mood lights would have been an amazing addition to the higher trims, its usually a very dark cabin and that touch enhances the luxury of the product. Great video :)
The top trims do have ambient lighting if you're referring to that. And there's also foot well lighting too
@@CarsandTechInfo which ones?
The CX 60! Come on Mazda 😁
What about road noise? How do the 70 and 90 compare? I am looking at both later today and want some opinions on that.
The 391 lb-ft torque figure for the lower power six is incorrect; the correct figure is 332 lb-ft.
Makes sense having a different nomenclature for the CX-70. I cross shopped the Genesis GV80, and it was confusing trying to identify one that had the 3d row.
This way, there are no issues with that. Also, the CX-70 is definitely more sporty looking.
You have a shift logic option to take full manual via paddles. Set it up via favourites button for easy access.
I can see this as a Genesis competitor, too.
CX-70 is the Goldilocks IMHO.
This is a great option for those of us who will never use a third row and would like the space instead.
The CX-70 is sharp. Very nice vehicle. Top choice from the segment.
Not everyone thinks 3 rows are desirable. I much prefer the 2 row design and would not consider 3 row alternatives. Mazda understands that there are two completely different buyers. 2 rows mean more cargo room, less weight and, in this case, a sportier character with subtle design cues that differ from the CX-90.
Mazda could just offer a third roll delete option on the CX-90.
Sometimes do you feel like you are talking to walls?
Glad they brought back the CX7 .
Which one is better Cayenne or Xc70
Mazda is crazy
I think if we get the Mazda CX-60, I think it should be a wagon for the US, and if Mazda was to make a pickup, they should name it the DX-80 just a thought
☕☕☕ Happy Tuesday
The reason I'd buy the cx70 is for the long wheelbase and the heavy weight for a reasonable low price,as long as you wont not pay over the cx70 Prefered Trim level.
I would bet that if Mazda brought the CX-60 that many people are asking for, they would complain that it’s too small, or they would question Mazda’s rationale for doing so since the CX-5 and CX-50 are quite similar in terms of second row space.
However, there is no question that Mazda should have done more to differentiate the CX-70 from the CX-90.
Look so good but a little bit more fog light better
One can wish and dream ☺
2:04 Didn't know the base one made so much more torque!
And it still not sound like a tone for her 😂
It doesn’t. It’s a mistake.
It was a typo it makes 332 lb-ft according to Mazda’s website.
Everyone I see reviewing the CX90 and the CX70 appears to be on the short side.Im 6 feet 2 inches.I was so disappointed in the legroom in the rear seat for the CX90 that I waited for the CX70.Same thing. I would guess your 5’2”
The Cx-80 thats coming in Europe should be the 70 just with 5 seat
The Cx-80 will have 7 seat in Europe but.will be way smaller than the cx90
Because Europe roads are much smaller than North American roads. The 70 and 90 were made specifically for North America because everyone complained that the CX-9 was too small.
2:07 That torque number doesn't seem right. It's less than 391 since the higher output version has 369 lb-ft of torque
Atlas crossport is a similar competitor
4 cyl
cx70 = cx90 - 3rd row.
I really like this overall package, but I'm not a fan of the fake air intakes/dams in the front.
I thought the same thing, then found out that the sides of those fake grills are actually functional air dams... but yeah, looks-wise not the best
Skip the PHEV for now. The CX-90 has seen TONS of TSB's and issues with it to this day.
You made a mistake with the torque, how is the turbo producing less torque than naturally aspirated
Still don’t understand why this vehicle exists
Yeah that torque number is way off on the base model engine.
7:25 from then on i was confused
You can set paddle shifters to stay engaged… So you misspoke
She literally showed that option
why are Americans obsessed with cargo space I don't understand. What are you going to do with all that cargo space? transportate two fridges back of your car? transportate 6 washing machines? When I watch car reviews from Americans, the only thing I hear is cargo space, cargo space, cargo space, cargo space.
God bless Mazda for not having a touch screen!
In other words it’s a 3rd row option. This car as its own model makes no sense. Should have made it a little larger than the cx50 but smaller than cx90.
Not a fair comparison, instead of Honda passport this completes with Acura RDX.
CX110 should have 4 row seats then
This model cx-70 doesn't make sense at all when you have cx-90
Not sure a cx-90 with one less row counts as a “new” vehicle
I am! ✨️✨️✨️
looks good. but with all cars today they are pricey!!!!! OEMs interest rates are over 6%!!!! we cant afford these nice things.
The ligher steering is an improvement over the CX90
Should have a torque converter transmission for smoother low speed operation.
Should have done a interior review and left it at that.
It's a new era for KBB...no Muzio-music vibe.
Micah is awesome tho !
Base engine gets 332 lb ft of torque not 391
I thought it’s 280, plug in 323, turbo s 340.
I love my CX-50, but this car just doesn't make any sense...
Mazda trying to continue pushing their cars as luxury is so sad. Mazda, you either have to start a luxury brand or keep your vehicles aligned with the rest of the market. I am not going to cross shop a Mazda if I'm planning to buy a BMW.
Couldn’t disagree more. They do lixury by their trim lines. So if you want more base, mainstream, go to a lower trim and now the Mazda is much better than a Chevy, with negligible price difference. Go to a signature or upper trim and you are competing with luxury cars at a much lower price point. The whole point of the brand is to play in the space between.
It’s a nice vehicle, but like most of its competitors it’s a glorified minivan. At least 80% of the time it will be put to the same use as the Mazda MPV. in that case, why do you need a six cylinder engine? Why do you need to pay more than $50,000? I agree the cars are way too expensive, but some of the problem is that we convince ourselves to overlook the absurdity of the market
You not only made the mistake about torque figures on the base model, but your cargo capacity figures on the Honda Passport are completely wrong. With its rear seats down, the Passport has 77 cubic feet of cargo. How does a car review channel get those things wrong?
Also doesn’t understand paddle shiftters
Mazda is out of touch with the market. Tested a CX-50 and it was so disappointing. Uncomfortable seats, hard on premium gas and very tight on interior space. Ended up buying a new CRV Hybrid. Another big miss here.
Let’s agree to disagree.
It’s a matter of personal preference, the Mazda is aiming at an entirely different market.
Looks like a VW atlas cross sport with better sheet metal
It looks like a bigger SUV of Jaguar
Makes zero sense. If I am one of those people that wants to haul things, I will fold the CX-90's 3rd row seat down. At the same time, if I want to bring extra people, I have that capability. Why would I want to buy the same size suv without the 3rd row? Mazda seriously failed with this one. Maybe if the CX-70 was substantially less costly, I could be convinced. Oh, it's not. 😂
This vid could be just 30 sec long lol.
Probably one of the laziest, insulting to customer intelligence car launches of all time. Should've just brought over the CX-60, though my ideal Mazda would be a Spirit Racing or Hybrid CX-30
regarding the gear shifter. so why the hell the engineers executed that idea if they have to crate especial safety feature. they just wasted the company money by inventing a pain in the **** ss idea. I noticed something and I hope all CEO and Engineers read that. i think the more money you make. the more stupid idea's becomes alive!! we are the engineers who create annoying ingenuity by choice. to make our consumers life miserable. job well done!! OH !! and we love to slap Piano black for interior design everywhere on a vehicle. 🤣🤣
Mazda needs more fuel-efficient vehicles
The CX-70 is already among the top in class for any CUV the equivalent size. The PHEV is even more efficient.
Agreed, if this had the Highlander Hybrid engine..... it would be such a hit!
This car is definitely not made for efficiency go buy a Prius
Right but it is in the same size class as a Highlander, which has a hybrid.
So ppl would buy a highlander not a prius.....
In-line 6 vs small turbo 4 cylinder for those big vehicles
It’s not intents and purposes it’s intensive purposes. That means was something has a purpose that intensive. Learn English.
Whinging, whining and moaning about not to get the smaller eurosize CX 60 is getting old.
Can't take it anymore.
Cx70 does sound like a well priced 2 row wagon. The engine I would say lacks power for how much it weighs and that’s probably why the shifting gets annoying at times. The turbo version has more acceleration to make it less laggy more not fun. The hybrid is a joke, no one will spend that amount of time trying to charge such a tiny battery. Japanese automakers are trying hard to stay afloat with new wagons that will fit a family lifestyle, while also trying to please the more eco conscious buyers by having hybrid cars available. Ultimately people will decide either go full electric or ICE because hybrids have a very high maintenance cost over their lifetime. Mazda will try and capitalize on the undecided people who want to help the planet while also having range anxiety when it comes to electric vehicles. Why not stick to a four cylinder engine?
