I came out to my parents when I was 21 while playing a board game with my family on New Years Day. My father got up from the table and went to the liquor cabinet. I was about to cry because I thought "oh God, I've driven him to drink." He took the bottle and set it in front of me and said "I think you need this. Take a breath kid." My story is still one of the funniest I've heard.
Fathers don't mind at all when their daughters and nieces prefer the touch of a woman because they don't have to worry about pregnancy and social diseases. Sometimes a proud father calls his daughter's butch boi or hersband his son-in-law or vice versa, his butch boi daughter's wife his daughter-in-law...but of course femme/femme couples are ok with dad too. Let's be honest, dads get nervous when guys call on their daughters and nieces so sappho sweethearts in the family are always welcomed ;)
Sappho Sweethearts My dad wasn’t like that. I’m super close with my folks (my mom says I’m my dad’s “person”). His reaction was more of a “calm down, it’s fine”. I never brought home guys or even talked about them. Not butch, but not femme. They weren’t greatly surprised. NOW - my wife, that was a surprise for her parents. Her dad still loves to make comments that are less than savory. I just weather them or make sly comments back about how “Of course we have a lot in common. We have the same taste in women” (my wife is a copy of her mother whom I adore). That shuts him up for awhile.
Looooool Hannah's attempts at coming out should be made into a television series. The group chat and the roommate one's were hilarious and how you came out to your mum ,all so painfully socially awkward 😂😂
I think the nature of your relationship helps bridge the gap between the lesbian community and bisexual women. Historically speaking, the lesbian community has not fully welcomed their bisexual sisters, sadly. There is strength In unity! In general society has accepted women who love women so progress has been made, thankfully.
Hannah here- I had no idea about most of this until I started dating a woman. Now I see the divide and hope that our worlds can all be a little more welcoming moving forward! I feel very lucky to have found Sadie who loves me as I am😊
I'm a 62 year old grumpy git, male, straight, going through hell at the moment, but you two are making me laugh with your amazingly matter of fact descriptions of your ups and downs, it's helping.....and I am sure that you are doing your community a huge amount of good, I'm an atheist so Universe bless you!!!!!
Just found you ladies! And just wanted to say how relatable you both are. Just binged all of your videos and there is so much that you both said that has resonated with me and was similar to my experience with coming out and realizing I wasn’t straight. I had a similar experience to Hannah with being so close to a friend and having feelings but not knowing how to categorize it and we both consider it a past relationship even though we weren’t out or anything. Also when you talked about the roommate thing it made me laugh because I had that situation, the only difference was I started dating another one of the roommates in the apartment. Needless to say, a lot of same sex stories are similar and complex in there own ways. Thanks for being so transparent and I look forward to hearing more of what you both have to say!!
Lindsay thank you for watching and for your stories! I can only imagine how my roommate would’ve reacted if I were dating another roommate😂 Yes- so many of our stories seem to overlap. It’s definitely comforting. Anyway, thanks again for watching!
Close female friends often express their friendship love in the highest way regardless of how they identify, and sometimes the friendship love evolves into romantic love. Women simply naturally express their feelings and affection for each other, which is why even hetero identified women will have a physical relationship or two or three with a close female friend over their lifetime, according to gender studies.
I originally (now lesbian and married) thought I was bisexual and my college friends also didn't believe me. It's crazy how people just want to pigeon hole people into one category. It's always nice to hear someone else's story of coming out. One another note I think it's kind of accurate that moms just know :).
I appreciate the family group email, I had an unintended, efficient coming out. I came out to my mom as a lesbian while home from college for the weekend. The following week I got a text from my cousin letting me know my mom announced it to my entire conservative religious family while they were out to dinner. Ten years later and I still don't know how they reacted. A few of them are supportive and others pretend like they don't know. It could have gone worse and I've learned to laugh with my friends that my mom stole my coming out.
Guys I havent laughed this much on any video. Hannah your story seems so funny but I'm sure you did feel that way at the time. I've just found your channel and I'm bingeing all your videos. Wishing both of you the best ❤ PS: I have a crush on my developing bestfriend too 😬
I didn’t realize I was gay until 17 (I’m 23 now). I’m a gamer and was in a “Clan” on GTA 5. A female clan member from Canada quickly became my bestie. After awhile I found I was butt crazy in love with her. Yep fell for a straight Girl, DISASTER. I always wondered why I felt nothing kissing my boyfriends no matter how cute they were. Enough about me. You two are both adorable and both your coming out stories were touching and funny in parts. Hannah. Your first GF doesn’t “count”. Hee hee.
I have just found your channel and working backwards so I’m guessing Sadie is about to circle back to 3.54 on this vid post the Jar of Destiny game in the fort episode....Hannah you may have some ‘explaining’ to be done
I came out to my mom the same day she found out my great grand uncle died. In my defense I didnt even know I had a great uncle. We still dont talk about it to this day.
Years ago before i knew I was into women I said to my female boss something about her husband and she said she's married to a woman and I remember responding "Oh". And was lost for words. But I was cool with it, I had just made assumptions because of the way she looked (I wouldn't make those these days).
Omg my wife and I made a video a while back giving our stories and how we ended up together etc- but never posted it. I’d love to share it with y’all! Not sure how to send it though.. thoughts? Find us on insta too.. Crystal And Tiffany 🥰
@@HannahSadie OMG !!!! What ? hahaha girls you made my day :) Thanks !!!! It's not such a gaydar hahaha but some incredible instincts. they can feel whatever is going on with their kids. My mom saved my life two times with those instincts !!! Its amazing !!!
Nothing has been too dramatic here. I worked myself up about my parents and told them and they were like... yea kinda always thought you might be gay. Like... ok but I’ve been with the same man for 10 years and super confused, why didn’t anyone clue me in 😅
Hi Julie-Sadie here. We have a really loving and supportive relationship that makes us happy 😊 our respective sexualities don’t affect how we honor that.
“So wait..was that your news?” Best mom response ever.
Coming out as bi is hard, because there's the potential to be misunderstood by pretty much everyone.
Hannah here- I couldn’t agree more. It seems inevitable🤷🏻♀️
the way she looks at you while you speak 🥺
YES. Ouch my ❤!!

Sappho Sweethearts Facts. I think my dad looked relieved lol
@@ZoeyPaigeLunaPhDthat look on your dad was him doing cartwheels & backflips in his mind, and screaming "YES, Thank Goodness"

Someone told me once that many women say they are bi because it’s easier than saying I am lesbian.
Hey, are you two OK? With everything going on in Seattle?

*runs away in gay panic* 😂
Also the amount of bi-eraser in the story is THE MOST relatable 🙏😂
