  • You've been asking, and I finally delivered! Here is a tour of our full-time home, Little Bear. This is not your standard factory tour, but rather a "practical" tour of how we live in our T@B 400. This looks a little more spacious in comparison to the other tabs. I love they way they set this one up with the kitchen across from the bathroom. And I like the bedroom setup. Tour videos always feel a little weird because it’s just people simply talking and pointing lol but that’s what we all want! :)) you guys seem kind and humble which is another reason people connect with this video. I also thought your curtain idea was neat. We have a collection of magnets we hang up, but when you don’t have much metal, a curtain and pins is another neat idea!

    I've decided in the last few months that I want/need a teardrop. After doing LOTS of research and many hrs. of watching UA-cam videos, have pretty much decided a Tab 400 is perfect. Just have to start saving money now! 😉 Loved seeing how you utilize your space and the little things you've added...very clever and useful! Thanks and happy travels to you both.

    Published on my bday, how fun. What’s cool about being minimalist but living in a small space, is that it still feels cozy. To make a larger home feel cozy and decorated similarly you need sooo much unnecessary crapola. Well done, glad to see you out there enjoying life. Pass the Pappy 20yr ;-)

    I love to decorate so my favorite videos from you are the mods and seeing your decorations. I just got the 320 S boondock and so I don’t have as much storage space and places to decorate, but I have lots of ideas to make it a little home. Adding that I love your dish towel hanging solution, and I bought your book at PC, it now lives in Jupiter (T@Bs name)

    That awning is perfectly matched to the contour of the roof, and with side extensions would be even better for winter.
    It's wonderful to see the beautiful locations you find to boondock and explore and work in.
    You perfectly represent the great boondocking capabilities of 'Little Bear' and how with good management you are able to stay out for weeks at a time.
    Your boondocking travel cabin (land yacht) looks very well set up for a liveaboard couple and were I to decide to live this way I too would choose the high quality, well designed, spec'd and built Tab Boondock model.
    Your videos of off road travelling with your 320 really impressed upon me just how capable, reliable and well constructed these Outback/Boondock models really are.
    It's so refreshing to see these excellent little travel cabins being used in their natural habitat by people whom really understand the lure of living with nature and work very hard in order to do so.
    Thank you for your beautiful videography and stunning photography, you're both really quite inspirational.

    Most people who post about their campers do not go into detail about what goes where. I often wondered where one would store their clothes, food and kitchen wares. Everyone talks about how much storage their camper has. But for me, watching a video, I just didn’t see it and had my doubts. This video really helped, thank you.

      Not really. Truck is over max payload capacity (1,175lbs.) when hitched with all that weight in the bed.May be over without the trailer hitched also. Tongue weight with all that stuff on the front of the trailer (Bikes, propane,water) is over 500lb. This exceeds the weight carrying rating of the receiver hitch on the truck. www.toyota.com/tacoma/features/weights_capacities/7594/7544/7582

    I've watched your video 3 times + I've read all the replies + I left a couple of comments to several of the replies, all B4 the following:
    1. I especially enjoyed seeing Kendrick getting equal time in front of the camera.
    2. Correct me if I'm wrong. I believe your awning warranty is VOID if the awning is damaged by WIND.
    3. I liked seeing the Boondock tongue modifications which include 2 propane tanks & the swaybar. I agree airbags for the rear axle of the Tacoma will be a huge improvement in dealing with crosswind handling & weight distribution.
    4. I've never seen or heard of the AcuRite thermometer you have which is so functional it's a shame it isn't a standard piece of equipment in every nüCamp product.
    5. I liked the 3 towel racks that don't stick out.
    6. I've seen numerous complaints about the Tacoma seat being uncomfortable, seen numerous fixes, watched numerous youtube videos showing how others have modified Tacoma seats to make them "comfortable". Will you be modifying the seats in your Tacoma?
    7. Congratulation on modifying the bathroom space for storage. Bathrooms in most RV's are used for storing "stuff" instead of being "used".
    8. Your Yamaha 2000 generator runs 40% longer on a gallon of gas than any other generator in its class. Congrats on picking/using the most economical generator in terms of gas usage.
    9. You said absolutely NOTHING about your solar panel & whether you like it or even if it's putting out the voltage to keep your batteries topped off.
    Now, I'm stepping down off my soapbox.

    • @MandyLea
      @MandyLea  5 років тому +7

      Hahaha... Thank you so much for a very well thought out and through response! I appreciate it very much :)
      1. He's getting better and better about it... especially when I make him!
      2. I actually know nothing about this particular manufacturer warranty. But, I can say that this awning holds up VERY well to the wind. We had it up all week in high winds with just normal stakes (no tie lines) and it didn't budge.
      3. Yes... hopefully airbags/springs this coming week....
      4. I love it! Did you see the link in the blog write up? It works great.
      5. Me too :) A happy Walmart find.
      6. We actually think the Tacoma seats are much more comfortable than the Jeep we had before, so I don't think any mod will be necessary.
      7. I agree. We might still pursue a compost toilet, but for now we can store A LOT in there!
      8. Thanks! We are very impressed with it. We don't have to use it too often but when we do it seems to last a long time.
      9. OMG! I'm so sorry.... It was 90 degrees when we did the tour and I knew I forgot to talk about something!!! But, we LOVE our solar. It keep our laptops and all our camera batteries charged all day as well as watching netflix :) It pretty much runs everything but our A/C which we don't use that often anyway. It even has a nice app to monitor charging and voltage.
      Thanks again AZ!

      @@MandyLea Mandy, we have the 2019 and would love to monitor our solar charge capacity. What app are you using? So, I'm curious. Which plugs are you using in your 400 that are powered from the solar/battery? Does your camper have a DC power port next to the sink? Ours does and we haven't figured out why.

      @@MandyLea I have no refrigerator. However, I do have an Engel 1.3 cu ft FREEZER. B4 a trip I prepare a lot of meals like Beef Stroganoff, Stews, Scrambled Eggs, etc. I put the large fixings in my home frig for them to cool. I then put the food into ziplok baggies in 8 oz portions then put them in my home freezer. B4 embarking on a trip I take the portions of frozen meals out of my home Freezer & put them into my Engel 12V Freezer that resides in my van. This way I have delicious home-cooked meals that aren't loaded with salt, trans fats & or sugar. During my travels, when I'm hungry, I'll take a meal out of my Engel FREEZER, put in a pot of water & bring everything to a boil until the meal is HOT & no longer cold/frozen. Hey Mandy, if you get a Roku Express+ from walmart you can use the RGB connector from that, which lets you use HDMI arc thus allowing your camper speakers to be used instead

    • @MandyLea
      @MandyLea  5 років тому +3

      yes! That is on our list to buy :) The TV speakers have been ok so far but it would be nice to use both.

    Only caveat of white Toyota’s, and only white, is that the paint will start peeling somewhere after 9 years. I have a 2014 Highlander and paint started peeling in December of 2023. I took it to the local dealer here in Miami, FL. and luckily, it’s still covered by the warranty. I believe the Warranty is good for 10 or 14 yrs I’m not sure, but. It covered mine. Best of luck!

      We actually got the truck before the new camper. The Jeep we used to have was at 98k miles and we wanted to trade it in before we hit 100k :)

    OMG, Mandy Lea! I was one of your earliest viewers and saw your first video on the first 3k views... You probably can find comments from me on your first videos. Kept coming back but haven't being here in a while. I was buying my Tab 400 at that time (European version as I live in Belgium) and you were just changing for a Tab 320. And you were single. Wow! So many changes! Nice to see you doing so well and finding love. Will watch some more to get updated.
    Lots of love

    Mandy, Which Composting Toilet are you looking to install in your TAB 400? I have a customer asking us to install one and the only one I know of is the Nature's Head and not sure if there is enough room to operate it in the TAB 400.... Thanks!

    VIVA paper towels...BAM! Why didn’t I think of that? Problem solved!
    I’ve been looking at using a wireless Curt brake controller on my Pathfinder. Have you ever had any issues with it trying to come unplugged?
    You finally got a toilet and still dig a hole in the woods? You knuckleheads! Lol! Good episode y’all!

    • @MandyLea
      @MandyLea  5 років тому +2

      Hahaha... I went through SO MANY rolls of papertowels when I accidentally bought VIVA and fell in love. I used to keep them together with a rubberband, but you don't need to with these.
      As for the brake controller - nope, it's never come unplugged! The app it comes with is a little rudimentary, but it works...
      And yes... we're still working on that bathroom thing :)

    Hi Mandy! I found these natural sponges that I love that may be a good addition for Little Bear. They are called Twist loofah sponges. They are 100% plant based natural cellulose and loofah. They are hand sewn without glue or dyed. I'm not sponsored or anything, I just like them.
    Little Bear and Blanca are so well organized, you guys have done a great job. Hope to see you out on the road again soon.
    We are actually headed to Princess Craft tomorrow to look at bigger trailers for our full time adventure.
