i saw so many creator using most popular software to build their model such as zbrush, substant pain,...
but they are spend more time to build one model,
an so long time to level design senses.
Now display land is come for free,
but it only skip the time of fix the right scale of basic classical modeling to positioning point of polygon,
than you also need to re UV mapping and use topology method by hand or automatic quardmeshing by some plugin,
so that why the game company like rock star or ubbisoft that creating a open world game is too long time and too expensive to Invitation.
Can the future of CG industrial what every to make a game,
like the display land but more powerful by AI learning to help modeler auto low topology polygon and uv mapping.
Just upload and download directly to path to game engine and auto leveling the position from the real world capturing?

    1.boot up Blender
    2.delete box
    3.add plane
4.extrude it, now you have a new box
Its a blender user thing 😆

Maybe I’m stating the obvious but it’s quicker to add a plane and extrude than to change the origin to the bottom of that default cube. Not a lot quicker but quicker nonetheless. At least that’s my justification.

    • @stijnvangaal12
      @stijnvangaal12 6 років тому +7

actually yes, the map was primarily built by hand (except for the majority of the nature parts) but all buildings were built modular probably also using houdini for generating buildings from the parts and many of the details were also procedurally placed. There are relatively few meshes modeled for the whole map for both efficiency and performance reasons

@SeriousName Exactly, This isn't created in 55mins, the video is 55mins. Not the same thing at all. It's also not a town, it's a single street and it isn't created in Blender, it's created in Blender AND Substance Painter, which can cost a lot of money.
Don't get me wrong, the result is very cool and beautiful but the title is extremely misleading. A normal speed version, detailing the methods used would have been more useful to anyone watching this.

Array adds repetition that might be visible. If you want to give a touch of realism, you need to use copy, so you can slightly alter some of the tiles, given those weren't perfect in the Middle Age.

It looks very nice however I think you could've improved upon the scene, for example:
    - The sidewalk textures seem off, this could be improved by getting a more hi-res texture or tile it a bit more. Also no bump mapping on it really makes it look super flat. Make the rocks stand out.
    - The road is a bit empty, a cart in the middle or some people talking with eachother on the sidewalk could really fill it up and give it more of a living feel.
    - The left house in the render looks too clean, it should also have some fooliage on it. Especially since the texture is that flat.
    - Some pigeons on the right lower roof could spice it up alot. Although this is not really needed but it would improve the overal feel.
    - The distance shot looks good with buildings but again it needs some more live, maybe a market or again a cart with some people gathered around or gallows with people around it.
The scene feels incomplete, it is really nice but not complete yet.
The lighting is great and the models itself are good, it just needs some work.
Great video and a nice workflow you got there
Also I love Italy since I was there the first time in my life this May. I was close to Sorrento.

Thank you so much for your useful feedback, now I've a more clear view and I know which part must be improved!! By the way Sorrento it's one of my favorite city in italy not to much different from mine :-)
